Keringa Petwings Caused death of Yorkie
We are from Namibia and I have been looking for the right breeder for yorkies since the end of last year and found the perfect one. The day my baby was born the breeder let me know all the excitement began. Choosing a name buying all the little things she needs and reading up about the breed as this would be the first time me and my family have had the breed of dog.
The breeder let us know we can get her when she is 9 weeks old. We asked her do we need to come to Pretoria to collect her so she said no we don’t have to she uses Keringa Petwings so I went and googled them and saw they have a really good reputation people are happy with their service and said to the breeder fine we will pay the 4000 rand to get her here through Keringa as they are the professionals and we want only the best or we will come down from Namibia and collect her our self.
Keringa Petwings usually collects the doggies from the breeders but our breeder said she cannot leave the baby with someone if she doesn’t feel it is a good place so she drove from Pretoria to Johannesburg to drop her off at Keringa Petwings. She let me know that everything will be fine they look very professional.
Saturday when the puppy arrived she was out she had no energy. So I thought they gave her something for the flight to calm her (which Keringa never let me know whether they do or don’t) we tried feeding her with a syringe the Saturday night we phoned the vet and she said if she is not better by morning we should bring her in as they have given her a sedative and if it is not worked out by then then we should bring her in. Morning 8:30 she DIED. The vet did the autopsy and she died of stress.
Keringa Petwings is supposed to check the puppies vitals and if she is not ready to fly they should not put her on the plane. They claim she was 100% fine when she left and in a 2 hour flight she went into a coma which is highly unlikely and in 24 hours from leaving them she died.
They take no responsibility .They don’t call us back we are from Namibia so we have to pay the international rate and they say we will phone back which they don’t. They say it is not them it was the breeders responsibility to send us n list of vital signs(even though you pay them as they have a selling point stating they have n vet on the premises who according to me can easily make us a list of vitals for each breed and send it along so we can be informed and things like this can be avoided). When I let them know she died they did not even say sorry to hear about it till the end of their investigation. They DON”T care for animals and they DON”T care what happened to them as long as they have their money in their pocket!
This is a life not a vase that broke in transit!

This was never resolved as Keringa Petwings say I am at fault. No remorse no solution. They just pull up there shoulders and that's it.
Today I have 2 yorkies ages 6 and 7 and they are perfect...the only thing we could do was drive to South Africa from Namibia and get a new puppy from the breeder.
I would not recommend Keringa to anyone.
They are welcome to send me a lawyers letter as well I will not stop telling people how poorly they treat animals and then the owners when trouble arises

That's terrible. I also had a bad experience with this Keringa when they flew my cat to Taiwan. They do not care in which situation the pit you on the other side. The flew my cat out on a day that I specifically said will not work. She arrived in Taiwan on a Friday night and had to stay all alone in a maize storage room over the weekend as the quarantine offices were closed until Monday. I told them this before they put her on that flight but they just went ahead and did it anyway. That caused so much stress and anxiety to my cat. I will never recommend them to anyone. Terrible logistical planning!

To all please be very careful of dealing with https://keringa.co.za/, I have just had my pets transport done by them and the service was shocking, the communication from their staff was non existent and I had to push them every day from Ireland at huge expense to complete the tasks, these issue's are secondary to the quoting process, a number was given to me when I queried it and wanted it itemized it could not be done, this in mind I got other quotes they were well below Karinga's quote, after many iterations of the quotation i received an end to end service from Durban to Dublin slightly above the quotes I received but as they had been suggested by the Vets I accepted it, now the fun and games, when the dogs arrived they went from the airport to the Vets to be checked on releasing the dogs I was asked to pay a further R5000 because this had not been paid by #Karingapetwings on finally receiving a mail from their CEO her response was that although the quote said one this and was paid in full, the subsequent contract, received at the 11th Hour and signed, they had removed the landing costs this is nothing short of calculated deceit, please all be careful.

I fully agree with you. They also take no responsibility for the death of my bull dog that according to them choked on food. The "food" was removed before sending her for a post mortem. I also saw that they have disabled their Facebook reviews after I added my review if they not guilty then why disable reviews. I wonder how many other horrific stories have been deleted. It is all very well that they looked after a bird confined to a cage for 9 months, which cannot be compared to a dog. The way they handled your matter and the response in itself is disgusting and the way the treated us after our dog died in their care is beyond disgusting. The owner thinks he can bully and threaten clients like in the 70's and 80's. As for the kennel manager who thinks he knows dogs, he has a massive ego and is as arrogant and unprofessional as the owner. I will also continue to let people know what happened to our dog even if it saves just one animal.

I am very interested to know how this complaint was resolved. Our beautiful healthy Bull Dog choked on "food" and suffocated and died a terrible death at Keringa Petwings 9 days before she was to fly to New Zealand on the 12 November 2017. She was allegedly found by Colin the kennel manager at 7 am and we were only contacted at 11 am by the vet. We had just arrived in Ballito to say goodbye to my elderly parents when we received the call and came straight back to Johannesburg. We met with Colin the next morning not once did he even apologize and his words at the end of the meeting were "let's face it your dog is dead she passed away what do you want me to do". After visiting our other two dogs he asked if we had a good visit. We had no option to leave our other two dogs there as everything was paid in full and they would never give our money back and their flights and travel arrangements were booked. When we went to visit our other two dogs before flying we met the owner, I did not get his name, but in my opinion he came specifically to threaten us, but his daughter Ingrid said he just wanted to meet us. I guess she knows her father best and reading the response to this and how we were treated there is very little compassion. Our dog's water bowl was full of pine needles and the owner said he will give us an affidavit to state that the water bowl was changed that morning and I know my dogs. What I do know and anyone with common sense is that pine needles are highly dangerous to dogs. Everyone who knows dogs should know pine needles are very dangerous if swallowed and should be nowhere near dogs. Their food bowls were also in the boiling hot sun and burning hot on more than one occasion. Even before our beautiful dog died; once we had paid everything in full we no longer received up dates on our dogs and because we lived 120 km away we could not visit daily. We were told they very busy getting December bookings and no news is good news.My biggest mistake was not taking the other complaints I read online about Keringa seriously and giving Keringa the benefit of doubt. "Yes they professional" as some reviews may say until your dog dies - chokes to death on "food" and suffocated. The autopsy report is a tiny glimpse of the horrific death and suffering of our dog. According to Ingrid the 30 days compulsory boarding before flying to New Zealand is not compulsory, I chose to board them for 30 days according to her and that the information on their website stating that they will not fly dogs to New Zealand if they don't stay at Keringa for 30 days was an error after first denying that the website said it was compulsory. I did not choose to board my dogs for 30 days. No one would board their dogs for 30 days for no reason and pay that added expense and add stress to both owners and pets and travel 120 km's to visit them if it was optional.
Nothing will bring back our beautiful baby and our new lives are built on heartache. It was a terrible lesson to learn when reading reviews online. Incidentally 4 or 5 reviews on their Facebook page about fantastic and professional service are from Keringa staff memers. I am not sure how staff can review their own services. I am waiting in anticipation for the lawyers letters to shut me up from telling the truth of our horrific experience

Dear Ms van der Spuy

In reply to your falsely accusatory and incorrect emails, I would like to point out the following:

• The breeder who you bought the puppy from delivered the puppy to us for forwarding to you, which indicates that she guaranteed the puppy to be fit to travel.
• Our assistant kennel manager denies that we were told to give the puppy glucose / honey / sugar water. However, it was well looked after while it was here, as all pets are.
• We delivered the puppy to airfreight at the local airport and got a clean receipt from the freight agent, and the signed waybill states “one live dog”, as is normal, and here our responsibility ends.
• We do not know what happens at the airport after pets are handed over as we are not allowed to place pets on the aircraft ourselves, or even go into the freight area by law.
• The puppy arrived alive at your destination and was accepted by you.
• Apparently you were concerned that your puppy, on arrival, was listless and only phoned a veterinarian, but never took it for an examination. Can you explain why not?
• Possibly as a result of your lack of sufficient care, your puppy died during the night.

It is our opinion that you are at fault and may be guilty of negligence as the puppy should have been taken to a veterinarian who might have saved it’s life. We believe taht you took it there after it was dead, in order to obtain a post mortem report. Please forward a copy to us as soon as possible.

We deny any negligence or wrongdoing on our part whatsoever and will do everything necessary to protect our good name from any chancer trying to cover up and make false claims. We also reserve the right to report any negligence to an animal welfare association for their investigation.

Yours faithfully,

Lucille Smuts
General Manager

You have it totaly wrong, our bird stayed with them for 9 months, they always replied when I mailed, and even phoned me in the Netherlands. Once after all the documents and checks was done our bird was shipped to The Netherlands. I only have praise for Keringa. One thing you should have thought about was that maybe your pup won't make it, the whole shipment proces can be stressfull. I feel sorry for you that your little pup died. Keringa delivers good services, and believe me they care more for the animals, than the money they make.

Wow!That is really bad!
Very unprofessional you would think that Keringa would have more compassion than that seeing that they are in the industry of working with animals.I think someone should investigate them and close them down.
