Jump Up Media Fake charges and impossible to reach the agent

I recently decided to try the services of the company Jump Up Media. I spoke with the agent, who seemed to be reliable, and he provided all required info. After that he took my personal info and card number and all my problems began. They started to take bogus charges from me, but when I called them, it turned out that all agents were busy and no one could reply. I heard only fake promises that someone would contact me soon. Scam, so stay away from them and don’t provide card number.

Jump Up Media Harassment

I simply cannot believe this company! I had the misfortune to pick up the phone today to dear Callum at Jump up Media who decided that he would try and extract some money from me again. Out of luck sunshine, if it hadn't been for this website and the many other complaints raised about them, It wouldn't have been such a happy ending. This time, his charm went to the wall ...how awful he was! Showed himself to be like glass, as I could see right through him the way he conducted himself. I don't think there is another word for a hard sell that goes just that bit further but maybe we should make one up now...how about desperate and desperado and sales mixed up! Yeh, 'Desperhardsell' Lol! I'm sure he came through on a Manchester 0161 number last time and this time it was a London 0207 number. Initially apologising for not calling me back?! When I told him straight that I wasn't interested, he verbally attacked me by raising his voice to a bullying tone, demanding to know 'WHY NOT?! WHY NOT?! I'd say verging on angry frustration here but with such a condescending tone in pronouncing my name, what a bloomin' cheek. This really is outrageous sales tactics for a company to be carrying on like this.

I too have had the misfortune of becoming embroiled by the jump.up media scam. I wish I had read these comments before agreeing to have ANY dealings with them whatsover.

After a very pushy and persuasive first call (from someone purporting to be from google, telling me there was no contract for an advert on the first page of google and it only cost £99) I initially thought it was a good deal and said I would consider taking up their offer. They kept hassling me until I succumbed. I stupidly gave them my card details (disastrous mistake!). Within a day or two, they had taken £148.80 out of my account (not £99), sent me the invoice and a contract (both of which contradicted the information they had told me over the phone). At this point I was suspicious. Contrary to the contract, which they should have sent me before they took any money off me, I still havenever received my 'welcome pack' or had any call or emails from my 'designated account manager'. I should have realised there and then that I had been scammed and been more wary! I told the bank about this and thought they had put a stop to any further payments (unfortunately they didn't, as you will discover). I also called jump up media And explained I wanted to cancel the advert, based on them taking money put of my account for an amount I never agreed to. They were extremely aggressive and angry on the phone and told me my account would be cancelled and that I could not get any money back. They were nasty and eventually hung up on me.

After 6 months (when i had pretty much forgotten about the whole saga), I looked at my bank statement I saw that they had taken a further £30 out of my account. Puzzled as to why, I called them to ask and they said after 6months the contract simply rolls on for a further 6months and they debit your account every month until it gets renewed at the end of the year! I asked them to again cancel the advert but they said it would cost me £315 to do this! I then felt compelled to continue with the remainder of the contract, thinking i could just ensure that the bank stopped any future payments. They must have cottoned on to my thinking, because that very same day, they took a further £148.80 out of my account ( again without my permission). When I queried this a few days ago, they told me that their accounting system had taken £30 from my account in error, claiming that this is the fee they charge for all rolling monthly accounts (funny, my contract states i will be charged every month), and that their system automatically 'corrected' itself by debiting the £148.80 for the next 6months fee. Do I beleive them this time? No.

It seems that there is no way of getting any of this money back. The disputes team at my bank have not helped, except to assure me that they have now to put a stop to any further payments to jump up media.

Trading standards said and that I should write to jump up media explaining everything that has happened, and to state that they have breached their contract. Also, i could ask the freedom of information commissioners office to get a copy of the call recordings, as proof of what was said over the phone.

I cannot understand how on earth this is legal, why NO-ONE is stopping them, and how they continue to rip people off.

I have just agreed to a trial with jumpedupmedia to sell my caravan and was told that I can cancel within 31 days on the phone or by email. I am now really nervous as I did not read this until after. There are only a few complaints when the company say they deal with hundreds of sales every day. I am now worried, can anybody help and throw some light onto this. If they are a scam, why are they allowed to trade?

Jump Up Media Scam

I was called this morning by a charming salesman on my mobile, not quite sure how he got my number but very good he was too in telling me all about what Jump Up Media can do for me - in putting me to page one of a Google search and also in offering me my own free website. He requested my email address and home address to send my welcome pack of which I gave him - having been completely drawn in. However, when it came to him requesting an immediate payment over the telephone to secure my placing, I was very wary to be passing my card details over the phone. I asked if I could call him back or if he could call me, saying that I didn't have my bag to hand but he insisted on holding, saying that the slot would be passed to somebody else if I didn't pay for this offer now. I then began to feel uncomfortable about all this, so whilst he was waiting, I was in fact looking up reviews on his company and not actually looking for my bag at all! Lol! Once I typed the company name into the net, low and behold under Complaints Board, there were a plethora of other individuals who have had the same experience, with some having parted with their money and with nothing to show for it! Thank God I didn't do it! A very big thank you to those that have contributed their own experience, in warning others about this dodgy company.

If I had seen these complaints before I would have never contacted this company. What I do know now is that ill never see my money again which this to me is Robbery so I hope the authorities investigate this company and who ever owns it.

I just hope no one else gets fooled by these people.

Jump Up Media Poor Customer Service & False Advertisement

I was contacted via phone by one of the company's account Manager, who gave me a description of the services provided by Jump Up Media. Within this description, this person guaranteed that our company would be advertised in the first page on the Google search box, ensuring us that we would have five keywords that could change any time and up to 200 free search engines being put to Google and Facebook. This person also assured us that if we noticed that Jump Up Media's services were not beneficial towards enquiry rates, we would be able to get a full refund.

Agreeing to have a trial, my company noticed that not only had our enquiry rate dropped from two/three daily- to zero, but also only four keywords system was completely wrong, using four instead of the promised five keywords, and also using keywords other than those our company instructed.

Trying to resolve this issue, I contacted the company, where I was diverted to the higher manager, who treated me in a very rude, impolite and aggressive manor, saying that I could not get the promised refund and then he hang up the phone. After trying to get a hold of the higher manager three more times, he answered the phone and he vocalised that he did not care about the situation, and after insulting me verbally he hanged up. As a costumer I felt undervalued, unappreciated, small and insignificant by the way the whole case was handled and I would strongly recommend not to use Jump Up Media's services.

Barry McIntyre made a cold call to me last Thursday, 14th March 2013. He first told me that a photographer was retiring and the company had chosen me to take their place as I did very similar work to them. They couldn’t tell me who they were. This got my attention. I quizzed him about this and he then said he was from Google and that I had been chosen to replace a professional business similar to mine, so that I would always be on the first page of google search.

He harped on about the 'champagne bottle' list of advertisers. This was about the shape the adverts take, with the first three professionals across the page, then the next specially selected seven being in from the margin. so I would be along with other local Brighton photographers whom I know of very well. I know the shape of the page and this did appeal to me. So I would be with James Pyke, Heather Buckley etc in the small ‘champagne’ selection, which is great.

He also told me I would have a Dedicated Google Account Manager to ensure that I was always on page one. These people do NOT in fact have anything to do with google. He said I wouldn’t pay anything until I was up there on page one and had agreed after having read their welcome pack. After that I had ? days cooling off. So, this all sounded pretty safe to me.

I asked for this to kick in on Monday 18th.
I should have appeared on Monday the 18th but by Wednesday I was still not even on page 5! I didn’t bother to look any further. I had agreed to take out a six month service once I had received my welcome pack and agreement to verify the contract. However, they took £148.80 from my account immediately, on the day of the cold call. A legal letter arrived on the 20th telling me that I had paid for one month, not six. £148.80. I was told that it was £148.80 for six months. Now I hear from other complaints that they keep taking your money.

I rang them today and said I wanted a refund, I was told that I had an appointment to be called back in 5 minutes!. Lewis James rang me back and was very aggressive. He told me that under no circumstances would he be refunding me.He shouted and shouted at me, said he didn't like my tone when I told him I was not happy. I agreed to do a search for my business while on the line to him. Not there. He told me to go to ad google etc so I went through that, still not there. Then he said, "I'm going to take control of your computer so that I can see what you see on your screen" He told me to download a free app that would give him control of my computer. He then said he ‘demanded’ I do as he said. I declined and asked for a refund. Then he told me the reason I couldn't find my business was because I must have searched the phrase Brighton Photographers more than once and the IP's got in a muddle. I said none of my friends could find me either. He said that was the problem, people were looking for a similar search term and it confused all the IP's. He got very very nasty and told me he was terminating the call. But didn't so I did. He then rung me some ten times in the last three minutes, I didn't answer them.

These people are also called Talkingfast Ltd. I have just now received an email from Lewis James telling me to open the attached images to see his screen shot of how I look on his google search. One screen shot is a page advertising COMMS Express, electrical items. The second image opened face book account which he has accessed. The third image opens my Twitter account.

He then sent a second email again with a link to Comms express and two screen shots. One shows me as a Google ad on the side of the page. The heading is Looking for a Photographer? Then a blurb that they wrote. None of the wording is how my web site shows up or should show up. I did not ever agree to a google ad.

I'm one of your clients and I'm still waiting for some explications about your bad bad work and about your bad bad contract. One week of delay in starting the advertisement, bad key words for my activity and the worse results ever seen. I've sent a legal communication to ask the money back, but I'm still waiting for a response.

Jump Up Media Cold Call Scam

I was called by this company who offered me a page 1 position on google for 30 days, they said i would appear there 24 hours a day 7 days a week and that there was no contract. The salesman was very misleading, firstly posing as google themselves, however upon further questioning he said the company was an authorised partner of google (in actual fact this is a complete lie, the company has no official ties with google). I decided to try the service, but after a week of searching i was still not to be found on the first page. I tried calling my account manager numerous times, to no avail, he was always in a 'meeting' and would return my call. Finally the contacted me and told my my website would be up that day, however when i saw the link it was only a small link on the sponsored ads at the side of the page and not in the 'champagne section' at the top of the page as promised by the pushy salesman. At the end of the month i requested to cancel the service, i was told by the account manager that i'd have to do so in writing and a notice period of 30 days was required, this is not the 30 days trial as they made out on the call. the company held my credit card details and took payment for a further month even though i told them i wanted nothing more to do with their outfit. After doing some due dilligance online i can see im not the only one to be conned by jump up media, this company really is a complete scam selling a product which would cost you around £30 to set up yourself for a highly inflated fee with a hidden contract. DEAL WITH JUMP UP MEDIA AT YOUR PERIL!

I joined up with jump up media around a month ago when they called me posing as one of googles 'accredited partners' and the salesman told me they deal with all the page one allocations on google and wanted to offer me a position in the 'champagne coloured box' on the top of page one. They said i would appear there 24 hours a day 7 days a week for the flat fee of £99 plus vat. However, the first 2 weeks of my service i was nowhere to be seen, after numerous calls to my 'account manager' i was repeatedly told he was in a meeting and would call me back asap, i sent 4 emails enquiring when my company would be appearing on page 1, to no reply. Eventually i was called by them and i did appear in the sponsored ads on the right hand side of page one, however nowhere near the top of the page in the 'champagne section' as promised by their pushy salesman. I then tried to cancel the service to be told i had to give them 30 days written notice, this goes right against what the salesman told me on the phone, saying there was no contract and i was free to cancel if i wasn't happy with the service. After further research i found that this company is nothing to do with google and they offer clients a service they could provide themselves at a fraction of the price Jump Up Media are charging them. They will say absolutely anything to get you signed up initally and then make it extremely dificult for you to cancel the service and end up charging you over £100 month after month which was the case with myself. if this bunch call you, put the phone down and save yourself £100 and a lot of hassle.

Hi connor-h, i know exactly what you mean about the pressure jump up media put on you to make a snap decision. Unfortunately for me they caught me on a week where i had a big job on and had little time to conduct the relevant research and by the time i got round to doing so i had already agreed to a 30 day 'trial'. I was quite shocked what a bad reputation jump up media have, as i'd not heard of them prior to the call and their offer sounded very reasonable but when you scratch the surface and take a look into what your actually purchasing and the lies that have been told in order to get you to do so, im not surprised that so many small businesses fall victim to this scam. The sad thing is that it's not just jump up media who are ripping off consumers with this type of con but im contacted on an almost daily basis by companies offering me 'a guarenteed page 1 on google' and the like. They all seem to be based around Greater Manchester for some reason too. Glad you didn't fall for their dirty tricks again connor-h.

Hi Nigel, im impressed to hear that your happy with the service from jump up media. Unfortunately my experiences, and indeed many of their other clients, have been less than satisfactory. In actual fact a long list of unhappy jump up media clients can be found on this blog http://blog.sally-jane.com/2011/07/jump-up-media-cold-call-con.html . Its plain to see that im not the only person to be taken in by the mis-selling and hard selling tactics of jump up media, and i was told lie after lie in order to get me to sign up to their service. After searching on https://adwords.google.com/professionals/search/ it would seem they are not a certified partner of google as i was informed by their salesman and also their manager who came on the phone to speak to me. I spoke to my web designer about the services jump up media provide and i believe that they are simply providing an adwords campaign which anyone can set up themselves, and charging their clients well over the odds to use their 'service'. I hope things do continue to work well with jump up media for you nigel, but based on my experience and the experience of countless others i'd still advise anyone to leave jump up media well alone.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are totally scam artists, will take your money then keep dissolving the company so you cannot get your money back. They owe me £1000 and there's nothing you can do, even The Sheriffs Office weren't able to retrieve as they'd left the address and when he called was told "Good luck in finding us!" LETS GET THEM ON WATCHDOG AND STOP OTHERS BEING TREATED LIKE THIS.

I have just been the recipient of this scam from a company called International Media. When I first checked on the Internet I only got good reports. I guess that that is part of their scam, anyone can look good on the internet. My guy was called Joe Connor. At first I thought that he was from Google. He did the same tricks, telling I should increase the price, promising to get me to the top of the rankings etc:

I had a call today from someone calling themselves "George Harrison" representing "International Media House" - the spiel was almost identical to that of Callum Jones who called me from Jump Up Media last year. Same old tricks but with different names. Do not fall for it - no one can guarantee first page ranking on Google search engine, it is just a scam.

I can relate with most of the situations that I have read with Regards to Jump Up Media. However I have received my money back with a little fuss.

Firstly this worked for my situation I recommend looking into it yourself as it may or may not work for you.
I candled my debit card with HSBC and requested that they reclaim the false payment. HSBC re credited my account and challenged Jump Up Media to justify the payment within 8 weeks, (to which they did not).

I then contacted Citizens Advice on [protected] who informed me that for my situation that Jump Up Media were:

In breach if “Consumer Contract Regulations”

In particular the “Information cancelation and additional charges regulations”

Insufficient level of
· Pre contract information
· Cooling off period
· Must reply with written consent not verbal

I hope this helps.

PS Also I have not yielded to their aggressive tactics either as they are all bark no bite.

I was called by Jump Up Media and they tried the same sales pitch with me. I asked for details and eventually got the name of their business, and conducted an online search during the hard sales technique of the telephone cold call. The salesman even offered for me to make more money by increasing the sales value of the item I was selling, thereby confirming that they knew nothing about the actual market value of that item.

I pointed out I was a member of the Telephone Preference Service and was happy to accept calls about the item I was selling, but this did not entitle any telesales to me of a service I did not want. I was then told in a bizarrely surreal moment that I "was wasting" the salesman's "time" and that "I should f**k off" and he put the phone down on me. That is surely not excellent customer service and certainly confirms this as a scam.

Do not let these bunch of sharks waste your time and certainly do not pay them any money.

We've had nothing but trouble, and are still trying to get back two payments which were unorthorised.i feel that this company should be exposed for the SCAMMERS they are and be forced to stop trading!

I too was foolish enough to engage with Jump Up Media. They convinced me to start a contract with them even though I did not have a website ready. They confirmed that they would defer the start of my 12 months until such time that my website was ready. To not fault of Jump Up Media my website was not completed during the following 12 months. I did not request my money back from Jump Up Media, and swallowed the cost and moved on. In February 2014 (12 months on from start of the contract) I received a very unpleasant and nasty man called Peter Blake demanding payment for the next 4 months. Despite my view that I had yet to receive any service he bullied me with demands of enforcing his law and taking me to court. At this stressful and busy time in my life I conceded and paid them £235.20 to be released from my contract. The intent to separate and my desire to separate and have nothing to do with them was very clear. It left me seething. I thought this was the end... today I received a call today from their senior manager (Lewis James) demanding further payments. He insisted that I never sent in a closure letter and as such demanded payment of £117.60. Once again I am seething for paying money to such a rogue company.

I had these people on the phone today. I and a newly established voiceover artist and they were claiming I would be number one on Google's search for British Male voiceovers. It was basically a hard sell cold call. I nearly fell for it - however while they had me on hold I looked them up and found this blog post. When the guy - who called himself Callum Jones - came back I said I had changed my mind. Any honest business people would have said "Ok Fine" but "Callum" passed me on to someone else who was very aggressive and kept telling me not to interrupt him. It was a very unpleasant experience and I simply had to hang up. I then rang my bank immediately to inform them there was a problem. Hopefully I will not lose my money. They started with the £99-00 shtick and then it went up to £130-80 and there was talk of a VAT invoice. They kept trying to call me back as well. Horrible people - why something isn't done about them I don't know.
