Johannesburg Water high water bill disconnection of water

I received a water bill in May 2014 amounting to +- R20 000. I am a customer that has never skipped a payment, so needless to say this came as a huge shock. My water meter is outside and we receive a bill every month with an accurate reading. There was 2 months March and April 2014 that no reading was done and this was estimated. Upon reconciling our account, we were horrified to note that in March 2014 we “consumed” 1.233.00KL of water, amounting to R28 224.06 for the month. Our average consumption is between 40 and 50KL per month. The consumption for March is more than double the amount that we use in an entire year, yet the our meter readings are correct. I went to see the office in Horizon, was given a ref number, and sent 4 follow up emails. No one has bothered to assist. I kept following up to sort this out. I now received a letter that our water will be cut, yet we continue to pay every single month. I really would just like an appointment with someone to sort this discrepancy out. Please help !

Johannesburg Water No water for four days and counting

On Friday [protected] at around 1pm water starts erupting for underneath the ELECTRICITY METER. I immediately call JHB Water and receive a reference number 3538745 and an assurance that due to the gravity of the situation someone will be out shortly. Only after a minor explosion and water shooting 5 mtrs in the air and five frantic calls to JHB Water does a truck arrive at 10.30pm that night. Switch off the water and then leave. Back again they come at 2.00am dig a huge hole place warning tape around the tree and then leave again and have not been back since. I have made over 25 calls to JHB Water. I have begged, pleaded, shouted and literally broke down and cried on the phone asking a company to return a 'SERVICE' THAT I PAY FOR. I am on day four of no water surely there is a constitutional right that if they do not supply water they must supply a tankard? I am at my wits end where do you go to? When you contact the call centre you are up again obtuse answers and empty assurances.

I’ve been dialing CITY OF JOHANNESBURG on [protected] for three days straight days trying to get a balance on my account because I have yet to receive an invoice.
I believe that the agents pickup the phone and hang up promptly so that they don’t have to provide a service. Each time one is directed to hold for an agent, the phone rings then you clearly hear someone pick up and hang up. This is extremely vexing because this is a service that we are paying for.

Hi There, please can i have explanation from Johannesburg Water why there is no water in Joburg CBD? i has been more that 2 weeks now- the water only comes in the middle of the night until at about 9H00 in the morning during the week and on weekend they get cut off at 06H00 in the morning, why is that because we pay for these water and if there is any burst pipe why is it not fixed? i am so irritated:-((((
