I took classes with Joanne Baron and I wonder how she became an acting coach. It was a total waste of my money and she is so rude. For a woman that has had less than marginal success she sure has a big attitude. Whatever the credentials are for an acting coach they must be low if she can teach.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
agree, , agree, , agree . I don't know what D.W. Is doing with a old ugly person like that (skin deep ugly) There are plenty of smart, loving, younger gorgeous, spiritual women out there who would love to be with him. He is handsome, kind, loving, laid back, humble, smart, spiritual and sexy! Why are they together remains a business. I guess he is merciful as well. D.W. get rid of her. We will fallow you.
I AM GLAD I DID NOT BUY INTO THEIR ADVERTISEMENT TO TAKE HER MASTER CLASS. I WILL NEVER DO THAT! JOANNE'S STYLE OF TEACHING IS VERY ARROGANT. SHE THINKS SHE IS BEING FUNY, BUT SHE IS BEING ARROGANT, INSENSITIVE, INSECURE AND GROTESQUE. I DON'T CARE HOW SUCCESSFUL YOU THINKKKKKK YOU ARE. IF YOUR PERSONALITY IS UGLY YOU WILL FAIL. IN FACT SHE IS NOT BEAUTIFUL IN ANY SHAPE OR FORM.
Joanne Baron is a great teacher of the meisner technique. But, yes, she can be very rude. She preaches people to be humble when she is not humble herself, she can be a manipulative ego trip. Don't let her take away your dignity! She is not the only good source in meisner technique.
I am currently taking classes at Joanne Baron/D.W. Brown Studio, and could not possibly love a studio more than I do. I have found the training I need to become a well rounded, successful, truthful actor. As the comment above mine so correctly states, they are strict and there are certain guidelines in place because if you cannot follow what criteria the studio sets forth, then you are not ready on a professional or commitment level enough to survive as an actor. You can't be late to class because guess what? You need to learn to be on time to auditions. However it sounds as though most of your review is on the attitiude of Joanne.
To anyone looking for incredible training in acting, or to just learn how you feel and to come to your opinion, I strongly encourage you to attend classes at Joanne Baron/D.W. Brown studio. I absolutely love being a part of this icnredible family. They will not let you fail. If you put in the work, you will succeed. I study with Lisa Milillo, and she is beyond incredible. She has an incredible eye for reading behaviour, is very encouraging but will be honest with you about what you need to work on (honestly, who wants a coach who just says 'ok, good' and leaves it at that? NO! I'm here to LEARN SOMETHING! I want to GROW!) She encourages risk taking, and creates a safe enviornment for her students. Not only that, but she is simply hilarious and tells the best stories. Her students are her children and it shows in her training that she wants nothing more than to see her children succeed and blossom into independant, vulnerable, opinionated actors who know how they feel. SHE WILL NOT GIVE UP ON YOU! The coaches at Joanne Baron/D.W. Brown Studio are not just looking to make actors out of everybody to come through the door, but they are out to change the world. And they are damn good at it.
I studied at the Joanne Baron/DW Brown Actor's Studio, completing their two-year program many years ago. Yes, it's intimidating, but meant to prepare you for the real world of Hollywood. Yes, they have many restrictions and guidelines, meant to teach you the discipline required to be on a film set. I found everyone at the studio to be fair, but strict. Those who don't respect authority may have a problem there, but the training was invaluable to me and I highly recommend the studio.
This is one angry student among a pool of hundreds of satisfied and successful actors. I have never had a disrespectful experience during my time at the school and would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone in LA who wants to become a master of their craft. It is an atmosphere of commitment and a great place to study.
BTW, I study with DW Brown who is an inspiration and a gem.

Ms. Baron and the Studio have been successful for over 35 years teaching artists like Halle Berry, Jeff Goldblum, and Robin Wright.
