Jet Airways India asymmetric and unfair rules

My wife and I were booked to fly Jet Air flight 9W, on Thu 22 June 2017, departing CMB at 3:30 and eta BLR 5:05 (booking reference LFEQML). Just a week or so before the date this flight was cancelled. We were given the option of a very inconvenient and long flight via Bombay or a refund. We had no choice but to accept the refund and book the Sri Lankan (direct) flight CMB-BLR, departing CMB just after midnight. Because we were booking late we were out of pocket by around SLRs 12, 000.

This is in stark contrast to my experience with Jet Airways when I made a genuine error (one day difference) in booking a ticket six months away. I found the error and notified my travel agent within a couple of hours of the ticket being issued. But I was told that I was NOT entitled to a refund and I had to pay a penalty (change fee) to shift the flight (which was six months away) by one day.

This is how Jet Airways rules work.
1. When Jet Air cancels a flight, which was booked several months earlier, just a week before the flight, customers are not offered a similar flight (as most other airlines that I have flown do). They are just offered a refund or a very inconvenient flight.
2. If a customer makes a genuine mistake in booking a flight six month away and notifies Jet Air within 2 hours of ticket issue - s/he has to pay a change fee.

A simple comparison of 1 & 2 shows how asymmetric the treatment is, which consumer authorities refer to as ‘unfair business practice’.

I wrote to Jet Airways but there was no redress. I was given self-serving justifications and corporate piffle.

Jet Airways India cancellation charges

I made a booking ref: AHHFNW. on 13th July 20178 for flight from hyd-dmm travel date 21, Sep 2017 on Jet Airways.

I tried making the cancellation to the booking AHHFNW on 14th July within 24hrs time of booking, but to my utter dismay the cancellation request was not accepted and I was getting redirected to the home page of the airline repeatedly.

As per the zero charge cancellation policy within 24 hours the Airline is supposed to cancel my booking without any charge but, Cancellation was not accepted on the website for couple of hours until such time that twenty four hours passed after which my cancellation request was applied around the midnight of 14th Sep 2017 and I have been charged a high amount towards the cancellation of the tickets.

Now the airline is refusing to take the responsibility and reimburse me for the amount wrongly charged, showing the actual cancel time as their excuse for the same.

Jet Airways India unable to board the flight after clearing all the security checks

Sir myself abhishek saraswat I have a reservation of flight from mumbai to bhuj Airport, my flight was at 1525 hrs from mumbai Airport. I have cleared all the security checks and I was waiting to board the flight at gate number 86-B. But flight just took off without my boarding on the plane. No necessary announcements were made for my arrival, and at the last I just came to know that gate for Mumbai-bhuj flight has been changed  to 87 instead of 86-B ( as printed on my boarding ticket) I have asked again and again from your staff present at there regarding status of Mumbai bhuj flight.  And they told  me that flight is delay please  wait here and I did the same as Instructed by the ground staff, but I was not informed that gate was changed and I just keep on waiting for their response. Around 1550 I have again from inquired about the status of flight and at that he informed me gates are changed and flight just took off. I guess this was a clear indication of mismanagement and carelessness of your staff present at the moment. Due to them  I just missed my flight inches away from me. Now I am unable to report to my work place which cause me a great loss of time plus my job is  now in hands of God. I had taken my complaint to your front desk i. e M-13 but I was not treated properly by the supervisor and she didn't even care to listen to me, she told me I have 100 flight in a day and it is not our responsibility to make sure that u boarded your flight or not, being a customer or your so called guest "I guess that right term you use for  the passengers", is not treated like guest but treated like a unknown person. I have heard that this is a professional job and I am also in merchant navy and I know how professionals works but regretfully that was not applicable to your staff . they were busy in their pep talks
Kindly suggest me how this can happen if a passenger is waiting to board his flight for more then 1 hour in waiting room and he was unable to board the flight.
I also want to inform you that I am not a frequent flier and I was not informed or familiarized by the boarding procedures required for your flight in which they should have told me that gate for flight can be changed at last moment.
I am expecting for a reply from your side and I also want to inform you that I am looking forward to take this matter to consumer court so that I can file a law suit against you for the harassment done from your side.

Jet Airways India jet airways — 9w524 flight

1. No sufficient space in flight to keep cabin hand baggage. Seems flight is too small and hardly fit for international travel.
2. Air-condition was pathetic and seems not working at all, I requested airhostess but she least bothered about request, finally after 1:30 hours I called supervisor to explain the situation but she hardly convinced and argued a lot, After a long argument she finally went to captain with the complaint. Somehow half of the journey completed the staff lowered the temperature. Now the question is why it took so much time to switch on the air-condition?
3. Air-condition was not working and on the top of that Airhostess is giving excuse while asking for water and showing empty water bottle and telling that I don’t have right now and I will give later. She never returned back for next 40 minutes.
4. Overall service was pathetic and flight was not fit for international travel.

Jet Airways India lost luggage

I had a horrible experience this past week flying with Jet Airways to India. I flew from Charlotte to Toronto via AA4210, Toronto to Delhi via 9W233, Delhi to Pune via 9W2351 and my luggage was lost. I filled out a missing baggage form on Saturday 6/17/17 and was told at the Delhi airport by a Jet Airways employee my luggage would arrive to my hotel no later than 10am on Monday the 19th. My luggage never came. I called the airline Wednesday and was told it would be delivered that night by 6pm. It did not come. I called again Thursday and was told it would definitely be delivered by 6pm that night. Again, my bag did not come. When I called back on Friday, I was told they had tried to deliver my bag earlier in the week but the address was wrong on my form. This makes no sense. If the address was not correct, they couldn't have gotten to the hotel. Additionally, if this is true, why was I never told this on one of my many calls? I finally received my bag when I went to the Pune airport on Saturday 4 hours prior to flying home. I was without luggage the entire time I was in India. Also, when I got my bag back, it is in awful condition. The handle is broken and can no longer be used. There is also holes in the fabric. My eticket # was [protected].

Jet Airways India loss of original boarding pass in respect of jet airways flight no. 9w-702

Sir, I was traveled in Jet airways flight No 9W-702 from Srinagar to Dehradun dated 21 April 2017 against PNR No. YYGKAU and ticket No. [protected]. During the travelling I was lost my boarding pass.Hence you are requested to provide/issue duplicate boarding pass/travelling certificate what ever is possible, since this is required for my audit/claim purpose. Web check-in was done on 1st June 2017 night. In order to take the flight we reached airport around 6.40 AM. My kids went to Jet Airways counter to check-in the luggage and boarding pass. The cue at counter was long and therefore after waiting for around 10 minutes they spoke to Ms. Lakhminder Jet Airways official at counter informing about the fight timing and requested him to give them boarding pass out of turn. However, he did not gave them boarding pass and turned him in que. On sensing the delay they again requested counter official to give them boarding pass so that they do not miss the flight. However, the request was not considered again and they were again sent back in cue. There turn came at 7.15 AM and they were informed that flight has been packed and they can't be given boarding pass. At this stage they spoke to duty manager but he also said the fight has been packed and boarding pass cannot be given to them.

The above sequence of events exhibits colossal unprofessional & hostile attitude of your officials. The kids reached airport in time and despite requesting them to treat them on priority for boarding pass so that they don't miss the flight no body cooperated and they were forced to miss the flight. Jet officials could have treated them on priority or opened new counter to mitigate rush but they preferred their indifferent attitude and my kids were forced to miss their flight. My kids also requested the duty officer of Jet Airways to accommodate them in some other alternate flight so that they can take their connecting flights but none of the requests were considered and continued with their indifferent attitude.

I would like to highlight that my kids were going on vacation to Kuala Lumpore & Singapore with connecting flights. We therefore have to take alternate flight to reach Madurai ( again by Jet Airways flight) at huge additional cost of Rs. 36746/- (copy of tickets enclosed) besides anxiety and trauma we were forced to go through. Since, we were forced to incur this additional cost due to unprofessional attitude of your staff at airport we demand refund of this additional cost.

I hope my complaint would be heard, investigated and proper resolution would be offered.

Hello,

I, Tanay Singh, was a passenger on the Jet Airways flight 9W 743. My flight was from New Delhi to Bangalore at 7.50 AM. I reached the airport and asked the customer care representative, Ms. Lakhminder if it was possible for her to hurry up the check in process for my flight and also asked her whether any final calls for the same flight was made or not. I was told to stand in the cue and come accordingly. Finally when I reached the counter, I was told by another customer care representative that the final call for the flight was made at 7 AM only. Due to the incorrect information provided by the first representative, I missed my flight. There is a clear lapse of communication between the representatives and I was the sufferer because of it.

I request you to please look into the matter and provide me with a resolution for the same.

Jet Airways India non receipt of refund on cancellation of ticket

I have booked one ticket with PNR No. IHRAKN ( E ticket No.[protected]), Passenger name Mrs Ancy Francis on 03.06.2017 and the payment against the same was made by using my Visa debit Card of Bank Muscat and it was debited to my bank account . Due to some reason I have cancelled the same immediately on the same day, but the refund against the cancellation is not yet credited against same visa card. Request you to check the same and may take appropriate action to get the credit to my account with out any delay

Jet Airways India seat selection

we booking extra legroom seat by paying 55$ AUD and when we checked in they assigned a different seat. When called thecustomer service, we were told it has been allocated to someone else.

What is the point of booking the seat by paying? how can this happen?

I wanted this seat for my pregnant wife. We check day before the travel and the seat was still assigned to us. It seems like Jet Airways sold the seat overnight and claiming it to be technical issues.

This will be my last flight with Jet Airways.

Jet Airways India sub : rude behavior & harassment faced at 9w counters at pat airport

Respected Sir / Madam,

Sub : Rude behavior & harassment faced at 9W counters at PAT airport.

With lots of reluctance and a heavy heart, I am writing this letter to you. I am working with Oman Air at Muscat International airport.
I had issued ZED fare ticket for my family from PAT – DEL on 16th-May thru MYIDTRAVEL.

As an airline staff, I am aware that we need to wait till the closure of counter if flights are full for the seat, but doesn’t expect unprofessional and rude behavior from the customer service staff at counter.
My wife with three children was supposed to travel PAT-DEL on 16th-May-17. And she already took chance and waited for flight 9W-728 and 9W-734/16-May, but could not be accepted on the flights due enough seats not available.

But I am surprised with the attitude of Mr. Shekhar who was at counter, after having an argument with my wife, who not only denied to accept my family but also yelled on my wife saying he will not accept them on the next flight also 9W-724/16th-May.
When asking for the Manager on duty he very rudely replied that I am the only main authority here and my name is Shekhar, go and do whatever you want to do against me, but I will not accept you the flight.

Though there were enough seats left on third flight 9W-724/16th-May. Capacity of the flight was 8/126 and final checked-in figure was only 95 in economy class. It is very shocking even with 31 seats left vacant in economy class, my family was not accepted on the flight.

Later Mr. Dilawar came and apologize and offered to travel on 9W-731/16th-May departing from PAT at 1645hrs and reaching DEL at 1825hrs. but they had and onward connection form DEL to MCT on AI-971/16th-May STD for which is 1920.
My wife refused to travel on same as unable to get AI flight from DEL.

My concern is, why my family was not accepted on flight 9W-724/16th-May, which departed with 31 seats vacant. Being an Customer Service Agent/officer doesn’t Mr. Shekhar should have this much of courtesy to be polite with staff passengers (Lady travelling with 1 infant & 2 small kids)
Only because of his personal ego and attitude, my wife could not travel and wasted whole day at the airport with 1 infant and 2 young kids. Any one can imagine what my wife could have gone thru.
It is very painful to accept this kind of attitude from an very reputed airline staff.

Jet Airways India horrible customer service

Dear Jet Airways Guest Relations Team,

I have been a loyal customer for as far as I can remember travelling, I have time and again received great service which is one of the main reasons I fly with you. But to my surprise and disappointment, on the date of 19th April 2017, I was at the receiving end of some very poor service.

Jet Airways flight 9W 591 from Bahrain to Goa with a layover in Mumbai on 19 April at 11:15pm left me and a fellow passenger without the staff making any effort whatsoever to locate us within the airport (and please know that this is one of the smallest airports there is) knowing that we had checked in, had our boarding passes on us and were definitely around the vicinity. The boarding time on the boarding card was 10:25pm, however till 11pm there was no one at the gate and no Jet Airways staff around to inquire from. Bearing in mind that the lady at check in had advised that the flight would be delayed by 20 minutes I figured that was what had happened and decided to use the washroom (which is not too far from the gate). Due to some unfortunate incident my engagement ring was accidentally picked up by a child which a friend and I were frantically searching for but thankfully it was returned by the mother. When we rushed to the gate only to find that the flight had left minutes before at 11:25pm. While I agree it was our responsibility to stay at the gate and not move from there but sometimes certain unavoidable incidents happen but it is also the responsibility of the airlines to make an effort to ensure all CHECKED-IN passengers have boarded the flight within reasonable time frame. The ground staff said that they had paged our names and even tried calling my fellow passenger, but why did I not receive a call? Why did no one come looking for us (as is done by all other airlines) giving us the benefit of doubt, and everybody knows this that the announcements are not always audible. When we asked how the flight left so soon considering we were right at the gate at 11pm with no one there the answer we got was that the boarding started at 11:05 and was complete at 11:10 because there weren’t a lot of passengers. In addition to this the person in charge had the audacity to tell us that because of us the flight was delayed for 15 minutes because they had to off load our baggage – this means that they started offloading our baggage at 11:15 and ‘looked for us’ only for 5 minutes.

When we asked to be transferred to the next flight they said that there is no ticketing office or help desk available and we will have to figure it out the next day. The entire night was a nightmare as I missed half of my sister’s wedding in Goa. The next morning first thing at 8:30am we went to the ticketing office only to find out that they cannot transfer us and we will have to purchase a new ticket for Bahrain to Goa and while we were okay to pay the penalty I don’t understand why we couldn’t have been transferred to the next flight which is what is normally done instead of paying the additional amount of BD 95 (RS 16, 000). And when we asked if we could go to India on another airline and return back on Jet as our return was still valid and we had paid for it they said we would need to pay a re-routing charge. Where does re-routing come into the picture when we are taking the exact same flight back!?

It doesn’t end here. All said and done we made it to Goa the following day. On our way back from Goa to Bahrain we receive a text message WHILE we are at the airport at 5:22pm for our flight which is to depart at 6:30pm saying that the flight has been delayed leading to a misconnection (screen shot attached). Because apparently we were only 2 passengers on the Bombay to Bahrain flight the airline decided it wasn’t worth waiting for just two people. At first the staff was giving us the most ridiculous options by which we would be arriving in Bahrain the next day which was not a possibility at all for us considering work commitments. Eventually an hour later we were transferred to Oman Air which has a different baggage allowance and Jet Airways asked us to pay the additional 8000 rupees for our two extra baggage not taking any responsibility of the inconvenience. Oman Air however was quite helpful and made certain arrangements to make sure we got our luggage on the flight at a minimal cost.

In addition to this we overheard the conversation between the Oman Air and Jet Staff that Oman Air might not be able to provide extra food to which Jet Staff said its okay and then did not even inform us of the same. At least let us know so we can grab some dinner at the airport itself! Finally, after a terrible experience and customer service while going and coming we arrived in Bahrain at 3am as opposed to the actual time we were supposed to arrive by Jet at 10:30pm.

This experience has left me so disappointed with the Airline and have a good mind to take my business elsewhere and at this point the only pacifying thing I see is to get refunded on the additional 95 BD we paid at the Jet Airways ticketing office in Bahrain for the poor customer service, for the lack of proper arrangements, for missing half of my sister’s wedding and for handling of misconnection and for blaming the passenger at every point. I hope you would look into the matter, and make sure such an incident is not repeated. Your company has been known to provide good services, and such events tarnish the company name, so please address this issue soon.

I understand delays happen and flights are missed, and I have missed a flight in the past where it was completely my fault but the airline was so accommodating and helpful. In this case it was mainly the way things were handled and managed that made the whole situation frustrating and troublesome rather than missing the flights.

Attached are my booking reservations and tickets for your reference and I expect a compensation amount of BD 95 refunded.

Lastly, I would like to highlight that the lady manager at Goa airport was commendable and very helpful as she genuinely tried everything to ensure we got a transfer to another airline.

Hope to hear a positive response and get a swift action from your end.

Jet Airways India lost baggage

I was travelling to Delhi from Toronto on April 13, 2017 after 20yrs. I had 2 pieces of luggage checked. One large and one small similar to a carry on. As I arrived in India waiting in line to get my Visa, I came out to get my luggage and only to find 1 luggage (large) standing idle next to a conveyer belt.
I spent 3hrs at the airport trying to locate my luggage and getting help to search and finally had to file a report. I was told that this will be update.

FILE# DEL9W68155

The Contents of bag contained:
clothes
shoes
expensive perfume
belts
imported chocolotes
1 brand new unlocked phone to gift a friend
toiletries (shampoo, lotion, sprays and body wash)
cosmetics
accessories
copies of my travel documents and ids
curling iron
universal charger set

I was told it would be tracked . I waited in the hotel in the hopes it was mistakenly handled
days went by with no news of tracking my luggage

I returned back to Toronto April 23, 2017 after a 13hr delay and now still my luggage has not been found

I also verified with Amsterdam airport where we had a 3.5hr layover but still travelled back in the same plane and was told no baggage container is opened unless mistakenly the baggage handlers took out my luggage and got taken by a passenger.

I need this to be investigated as there must be someway to trace my luggage since it was loaded in Toronto and should not be unloaded until reaching destination (India)
And the only other possible logical explanation is that someone STOLE my luggage unless captured by camera.

This is very disappointing and frustrating, as I am travelling after so many years to find that my luggage is lost/stolen

It has been 10days since it was reported.

Jet Airways is accountable for my luggage as it was properly checked and loaded in Toronto prior to leaving.

Jet Airways India reschedule of jet airways flights

To whomsoever it may concern,

I had booked tickets for myself and Family on Jet Airways as follows:
August2017 for four passengers
PNR VVAYKH: DXB-TRV on 06th April 2017
PNR IYJYPN: DXB-TRV on 06th April 2017
PNR XMWGRP: DXB-TRV on 31st July 2017 and return on 30th August 2017
The sector Dubai-Trivandrum was cancelled by the airline.
The flights were rescheduled and booked all of us through Mumbai. I did contact your call center and the lady was very helpful, I did request to rebook on Emirates as I wanted to travel direct but the staff mentioned that there was no interline agreement with Emirates and I was rebooked on Fly Dubai as I had no other option.
Today while browsing your website I came to know that there is an interline agreement with Emirates.The Airline should have rebooked me on a flight which had all inflight services as Jet Airways. I had booked exit row seats for myself and family as I have knee problem and need extra leg space. In fly Dubai I have to shell out extra cash for meals, seats and entertainment, which is totally not acceptable.

When I call Fly Dubai to check on my booking they advise me to contact JET AIRWAYS for any issues related to the booking as they are unable to update, make any changes to the booking.
The tickets were booked way back in October, 2016 to avail the cheap fares as being an NRI i would avail fares when the tickets are cheap and do not want my hard earned money to be spend unwantedly. I did sent so many emails and called them around 3-4 times and no favorable reply received. On 25th March I called Jet Airways and spoke to Ms Jenesia who advised that either I have to cancel the booking or shell out money from my side for all inflight expenses with Flydubai. I did request for a complaint to be registered on call and give me a complaint number for which she said that it is not possible.

Would like Jet Airways to Book seats with extra leg space, meals and inflight entertainment for my rescheduled booking with Fly Dubai or rebook me on Emirates.

PNR’s : VVAYKH/IYJYPN – which was booked for my parents for 6th April, 2017, they had to change their plans because the rescheduling was done and rebooked on 7th April, 2016 as there was no other options. They missed a private family function which was supposed to take place on April 7th morning.

Jet Airways India baggage service & security service

Hello Jet airways,

With respect to above subject, please note the below.

1) I have travelled by Jet airways from qatar to Mumbai by I am landed in Mumbai, next flight Mumbai to Hyderabad
However when I am going to next flight they will my check my passport and I buy something Qatar duty free(wine bottle) he took my wine bottle .when ask my bottle ? ( Passport will be given a bottle of wine ) He didn't give wine bottle.this is not good .Next time I will call press
2)I have Travelled by jet airways from Hyderabad to Mumbai by flight number 9W552/9W2602 .When I am put my baggage in weight I locked .They called can you please open bag? I opened my bag.it's fine in Hyderabad airport
After landing in Qatar night I took my luggage If when am see baggage lock smashed.After that I am I went jetairways services in Qatar airport .Who is my baggage lock smashed.she said in Mumbai airport they smashed your baggage . Without information why you smashed my baggage (Mumbai airport) you should ask .
This is worst experience in my life .I will never see this kind of things .Next time I will not come jet airways.There is fraud in Mumbai airport

Jet Airways India extra baggage charges

Hi,

Recently I booked a return flight from Delhi to Singapore for my sister while returning from Singapore we faced a rude travel desk employee of Jet Airways at web checkin counter Singapore. My sister was having two bags for checkin and two hand carry bags. Total weight for checkin bags was fine but for hand carry the employee started saying that you will have to purchase extra luggage which was of 6kg extra of which per kg is 34 SGD wherein I tried to request her that its her first international trip and other airlines like Air India and Singapore Airlines ) with whom I have travelled earlier didn't charged me anything extra, she said this is not budgeted airlines its Jet Airways (I didn't understood her) . We agreed to pay extra luggage charges but then too she kept screaming that if you take extra luggage in hand carry then this may fall on passenger and she will be responsible (really) . Then, after paying for one hand carry luggage 204 SGD for 6 Kgs equivalent to my flight cost (which I have to travel from row11 to row4 and back) she said that the other hand carry also needs to be segregated in two bags don't know why, which we said will do it and to confirm that the same lady came at security counter to double check and she again stopped my sister to confirm if she has segregated or not.

We do understand that this is your standard procedure and you accept extra luggage but being a passenger travelling internationally for first time airlines should be helpful instead of being so arrogant and troublesome. This was my last flight to Jet Airways and I will be never booking any of my future flights with them.

Jet Airways India refund of cancelled ticket

I am a senior citizen age 70 had booked two tickets from mumbai to coimbatore for me and my wife.
Ticket no [protected] / [protected] (Mum - coimb) dt - 14th mar.
I had to undergo a bypass surgery on 16th feb at hinduja hospital mumbai and was advised by the dr not to travel so I had to cancel my ticket.
Out of 6044 / total fare was refunded only 590 / which as a senior citizen doesn't seem to be correct.
Kindly consider the matter and refund maximum amount considering the surgery.

Jet Airways India baggage handling - theft attempt

My daughter travelled from Dubai terminal 1 to Mangalore on 14 -march -2017 byJetairways flight no 9w531 with PNR no: QPIFCC. On reaching Mangalore she found that her suitcase number lock spoiled and the zip hanging loose.
Same thing happened to her when she travelled from Dubai Terminal 1 to London- Heathrow on 03 Feb - 2017 by Royalbrunei flight no. B197 with PNR.No.6W6WND. Since the second incident happened to a different sector we are sure the theft attempt is very frequently taking place at the Terminal 1 Departure of Dubai Airport. Each time we use Dubai terminal 1 departure our suitcase is spoiled.

Jet Airways India flight rescheduled / penalty??

Kindly refer to the history of PNR-7TKNIC

Due to flight reschedule, the actual return date 3rd May 2017 BLR-BOM-DMM was cancelled by JET AIRWAYS. Accordingly our local agent @ Al-Khobar in Saudi Arabia cancelled and kept the return date open. Now my family is planning to return back on 6th April 2017 but the JET AIRWAYS staff here at Al-Khobar asking for a payment of SAR 311/- per passenger as a penalty. (It will cost me about 800 riyal for 3 tickets)

Since the Date Change was due to flight reschedule from your side, hence I kindly request you to confirm the new mentioned date for FREE. (One Change Only)

Jet Airways India refund of cancelled ticket

I'd booked on 9W595 from DOH-CCJ on 27/1/2017 (Booking Ref. OOEUFA). However, apparently the Jet Airways agents at the Doha airport closed counter early and I could not board the flight.
Ever since I'm trying to get refund from Jet Airways and had contacted the call center, send emails etc. etc. Finally after 4-weeks of persistant follow up I'd got an email stating that the refund will be effected within few days. That was 3-weeks ago. Still Jet Airways has not bothered to refund the money & have now stopped responding to my mails as well.

I can see a deliberate attempt by Jet Airways to delay/deny the customers right for refund.

Please avoid using Jet Airways if possible.
