Jennifer Robinson AKA Jennifer Beck, Jennifer Wall and Givenright.com will scam you out of money. She runs/owners an internet adoption research site. She prays on those whom are looking for birth parents or children given up for adoption.

To hire her it cost $200.00 + dollars. She will tell you how many people she has located and make you believe that she is able to find who you are looking for. Within 24-48 hours she calls you and tells you she has great news she has located them and has already made contact. She goes on and on about how the person you are looking for really wants contact but first you have to pay another $200+ dollars before she can give you any information. You get so excited so you pay...

She will then call you back telling you that birth mom/ adoptee called her back and wants NO contact and yelled and screamed at her and said they would sue... the lies go on and on! She will give you a name but the name is made up... I was told that my birth mother's name was sarah but after contacting another search group find out that my birth mother's name is really Julie. She lies! Don't use her! My birth mother was never contacted by her and was VERY happy to have contact!

Save yourself the tears! Because it hurt really bad to hear my birthmother wanted nothing to do with me and then find out she really did!

I have a listed of people right now who have been scammed by her... Stay away!

Is this still active? I would like to find out what the status of this if anyone has taken her to court I recently was able to confirm that the info given right provided me was all lies they found a person who was deceased and therefore I wasn’t able to confirm anything... I disrupted her son’s life, her sisters, they all believed me and it was as terrible

LissaBee, first of all, you are from Texas. Congratulations. That happens to be one of the states where Jennifer is actually able to complete a search (if she chooses to actually follow through), due to her CDs of birth records and her connection at Vital Statistics. Second, have you bothered to read through this site full of people lodging complaints against Jennifer? I assure you, there are far more searches "completed" right around time rent is due. Please don't dismiss other's pain just because your crap shoot happened to work out.

Jennifer Robinson helped me to locate my son, whom I had given up for adoption when I was a teenager. As it turned out, he had died in an awful accident some years before. I met the adoptive parents. How can I be sure I received the correct information? I believed them. But how do I know? Please let me know more information about this scam please? Thanks.

PS- I see you are in Florida... if you are searching in Florida, I have a few resources for you! There is a very good search angel in Florida that helped another victim find her birth mom... Email me!

Hurt Someone,

I'm so sorry this happened to you! We have been trying so very hard to keep Jennifer Robinson from hurting any more people. Please do what Judy said and file a report! The more reports they get, the better chance of getting her stopped! Please email me privately with the specific details (date you paid her, how you found her or if she found you?). My email is Msperl@live.com. I keep a record of all victims. Also include information regarding who you are searching for and in what state. I will forward you back resources that I have, search angels information (they search for free), and information on a legitimate company you can use if you wish. Again, I'm so sorry :(

Hurt some one:

I am sure I speak on behalf of many people when I say, "I am so sorry". Unfortunately, Jennifer Robinson and givenright.com has been able to keep doing this to people. But, you can help stop her.

Go to GivenRightVictims.com and post your story.

PLEASE, PLEASE file a police report with the Federal Way, Washington, police department. You can call them at [protected] and ask for Detective Shool.

File complaints online with the Better Business Bureau.

If you are too busy to do it, please send me your email address and I will get all of your information and do it for you. It is so important that we continue to report her. Please don't just let it go.

Jennifer...if you're following this thread still...we will NOT go away. You are a horrible person and you will get caught. I promise.

I am very sorry to hear all the sadness in these posts. I used Jennifer and Givenriright in 2005 to locate my BirthMom and brother. I gave her a very little info and she found them in just hours! Having searched fruitlessly for years before using Givenright, I understand the hurt and frustration that you all must be feeling. I will be glad to verify my info if you want.

Wow.

Almost a year ago, I signed up with a Yahoo group for adoption searchers in Florida, and shortly after that, I got an email from someone (I think the name was "Marcy Voss" or something like that) directing me to Givenright.com for assistance.

Anyway, I didn't think much of it, until the other day when my interest was renewed by some information I found out about my birth mother. This reminded me of the email about givenright.com, so I googled just to see what it was. This complaintboard.com link posted, and I've spent some time reading through the complaints. It's some very enlightening/interesting stuff.

I probably wouldn't have used the service anyway, but I'm glad to see that the "company" is being called out for the services promised and never delivered. That's a terrible way to treat folks in ANY sort of endeavor, but when it comes to toying with people's emotions, it's downright despicable.

So, my sympathies to those of you who were scammed by givenright.com, but know that your postings here have certainly made me dubious enough to never get mixed up with it.

Thank you, and I hope you're able to find some resolution and/or closure.

Victims should contact ABC's "Find My Family" and request that ABC warn viewers against fraudulent companies that prey on the vulnerability of this kind of situation.

Wow! That's sad [seven victims], but good that their voices will be heard now too. I can understand your frustration with the legal system, but imagine how those people feel that were unjustly sentenced to prison for crimes they did not commit. It is good a thing that you have to prove these things beyond a shadow of a doubt even if it is frustrating when we all know what that person has done.

Jason,

Even know I haven't posted in a while I'm still working on all of this. The prosecutor's office is still reviewing the case. They need to be able to prove 'beyond a reasonable doubt' that JR intended to commit fraud. Believe it or not, that's more difficult than one may think.

I can tell you that since King5 aired that story, I've had SIX additional victims contact me. One of those victims was given his bmom's name and address by JR and was told that she wanted no contact and that if he tried to contact her, she would sue him. Feeling rejected, he put the information aside for SIX MONTHS. After about six months, he felt the strong need to write a letter to her anyway just to thank her for giving him life and to give himself some closure that at least he tried. The response from that letter was that 1- the woman he wrote to never gave a child up for adoption, 2- she was never contacted by Jennifer Robinson, and 3- she is black, he is white. Now can you imagine... he waited six months to send that letter! If he never sent that letter, he would have lived the rest of his life thinking that his bmom wanted nothing to do with him!

What is it going to take for JR to stop hurting people? She's destroying people's hopes, dreams, and possible futures filled with additional family that they never knew before. How is it that our legal system can be so screwed up that they cannot put a stop to this? How is it that JR can be so screwed up that she just cannot stop hurting people? It's so frustrating!

I think you guys should be very proud of yourselves. You were taken advantage of in the worst kind of way and did not take it laying down! It started here on the net, then moved to a website, then the news and now finally the police are taking notice. Good for you and I hope you do feel proud of yourselves.

Here is the latest... a press release from the BBB

ADOPTION SEARCH AND REUNION SERVICES COMPANY ABANDONS ITS CUSTOMERS
Complainants Still Looking For Answers

DuPont, Wash. – Sept. 16, 2009 – Adoptees, birth parents and other relatives in search of their biological kin are complaining against GivenRight Research Inc, a genealogy company that promises to reunite long-lost family members.

BBB serving Alaska, Oregon, and Western Washington has processed 14 complaintson the company in the last 12 months. Due to the seriousness of the complaints, and the 9 unanswered or unresolved complaints, GivenRight Research Inc has a BBB Rating of "F": www.bbb.org/western-washington/business-reviews/genealogists/givenright-research-in-federal-way-wa-22015770?&nostat&gid=0&gen=0&lid=1.

The company's motto is "No Find, No Fee." However, complainants assert that when they entered into a contract and paid the company a fee to find an estranged relative, the results were not sent to them or the information received was inconclusive. On www.givenright.com, the company's disclaimer states "we have no-find no-fee available by contract only, otherwise your fees are set forth whether we find your party or not." The disclaimer also states "there are NO REFUNDS unless we feel that to do so [sic]."

According to Washington state licensing records, GivenRight Research Inc is registered to Jennifer K. Robinson. Although the company appears to be located in Federal Way, their Web site states that they specialize in Texas adoption searches; yet complaints received by BBB stem from across the Unites States.

To file a complaint with your BBB, against GivenRight Research Inc or another genealogist, visit www.bbb.org.

Thank you Jason. I don't think any of us will be satisfied until Jennifer is either in jail or somehow punished. I know the report by Jesse made it seem that there are just a few to a dozen victims but the truth is there are many, many more than that. I hope that someday everyone involved will be able to get some peace and closure with this and with their searches.

For you who believe Jennifer/Givenright is NOT scamming people. Here is my proof. There are no birth indexes in OKlahoma(the state of my adoption). Jennifer kindly and sweetly told me she found my son on the OK birth index (which does not exist)with my name as the mother. HA! This was absolutely, impossible because I had remembered the wrong birthdate. Now that I have the correct birthdate(with no help from J/G) I am searching in OK the only possible way it can be done in that state.

Jason,

Please don't let our experience taint your reuion. Jennifer has followed through on some occasions and you have every right to be happy about your experience. I would agree that it might be best to not mention what organization helped you so as not to risk someone using them based on your positive experience and then having happen to us, happen to them. Or, if you do mention them, also mention our stories and caution them.

SweetRose and EileenRocks,

We have filed reports with the internet crime divisons, FBI, BBB, Paypal, Attorney General in WA, and one person even sent a letter to the White House. In addition, we have all banned together and have one other thing in the making, but we don't to publicize it yet. Our goal is to prevent her from hurting others.

Thanks for the input!

Judy,

At first it was really hard to understand what all you guys had gone through. I even thought that possibly it was more of a misunderstanding or lack of acceptance issue than a true scam. However, I do not have those feelings anymore. I am really shocked by Jennifer's actions and responses. While at times I do feel a little guilty for having a successful search through Jennifer it has turned into a more flawed view lately.

Naturally I was proud of our reunion, but considering Jennifer's actions on here and her posts of empty promises, the pride I once felt in our success is no longer there. I continue to follow this thread, but I no longer expect any positive results from Jennifer's side. It is really sad to see how her actions have hurt you all and how she continues to fill you all with hope and yet never delivers. I feel for all of you and I am truly sorry that each of you had such a horrible experience. Not that it changes things, but please know that I think the success of our reunion is now tainted and I will think twice before mentioning how my birth family and I were reunited.

Sincerely,

Jason

Hi Jason,

You have remained very objective through all this. I am curious now that we know Jennifer has posted as other people on here and she has not followed through with me after she said she would publicly (and she inadvertently admitted that she never completed my case by saying that), what your thoughts were. I assume you have seen Marie's proof on our website as well.

Everyone else, I am asking Jason for his opinion, so please don't blast him if he gives an opinion you don't agreee with. :)
