JC Penney Waiting for credit return

I opened a new account with JCPENNY and made a purchase. I paid the account IN FULL On July 7, 2009, thought the "due date" was August 24, 09. I was out of state and had my mail on hold at the post office. I returned home August 8, 2009 to 14 phone messages on my answering machine. The message said to press one for this and two for that which I can not do on my answering machine. I then got two phone calls a day, for two days, a recorded messages asking me to hold on all representatives were busy. I hung up on them because I had NO idea who was calling. Finally a "person" called and said I owed them 280.15 and would I like to pay it by check over the phone or by credit card. I said I wanted to pay it in full with my credit card and close my account and that is what I did. I later went and picked up my mail only to find a JC PENNY statement with a DIFFERENT account number. BOTH statements were mailed the exact same day, July 25, 2009. I had paid (246.34), and had NO further charges, but on the other account then they added a $29.00 late fee and a $4, total of 280.15 which is what I paid them over the phone.
I called to correct their mistake of two account numbers and informed them they had been paid in full back in July. I was then told I had to WAIT up to 14 days to get the origional amount of 246.34 back BY MAIL, and then told I had to CALL them AGAIN in three days to REQUEST the late fee and finance charge be mailed to me. The "account manager assured me there was NO ONE ABOVE HIM that I could speak with and that "this is our policy". I had requested they CREDIT the entire amount to my visa but James, the account manager said that was not possible. I'd just have to WAIT.
I feel I should be paid INTEREST and charge them a "penalty fee" for double billing me not to mention the harassing phone calls. I will NEVER buy anything from JC PENNY again nor will I ever enter their stores and suggest the same to you. This is just NOT right and their policy needs to be changed.
Never again will I do any business with ANY companies affiliated with JC PENNY.

JC Penney credit card

I opened a JC Penney credit card account at the register with the promise that I could pay it immediately with my Visa card. Not only did they not charge my Visa account, but they did not send me the JC Penney credit card bill until the following month and it then had a $15. late charge and finance charges applied. I called and complained and they said they would drop the late charge. I sent in a payment minus the late charge, but they sent a bill the following month with additional late charges and finance charges. I ended up paying an addional $40. over the cost of what I bought at the store in order to dig myself out from under the accruing charges. I will never have anything to do with JC Penney again!

No one wishes to stand up and say yes we have bad auto pay system but the burden in on the consumer. JCP sells but will not tell you there may be payment problems with auto pay JCP PUSHES the card but bears no responsibility but you can be sure the burden is on the consumer. After almost 40 year good by JCP

Ok, JCPenney is a retailer - GE Money Bank is the credit card company you're upset with. JCPenney sells goods and services, but they are not a credit card company so please at least know that. It's evident that you may not be fully aware of how your card & its payments work, because you don't even know who you're creditor is :/

I understand your frustration completely...BUT, first of all. We do NOT accept VISA Credit for payment - only when used as the PIN Debit option. So, if an associate tried to run it through as credit, then that error falls upon the associate. BUT there also could be an issue with how your financial institution decides to credit transactions and make payments, so I would definitely call and double-check on that.

As far as the bill goes, I'm sorry but did you honestly let that month go by and think that you just shouldn't see any type of statement? You should be receiving and REVIEWING your credit cards, bank accounts, etc. EVERY MONTH - not just when they drop in the mail, even though I do think you should get that EVERY month.

I also have a problem with JCP credit. I have my payments sent via bill pay with my credit union. Every month I get a lat fee and when I call I am told that they have not received my payment. I spoke with my bank and the payment has been sent and cleared my account. They have agreed to waive the late fee so far and then magically my payment is received. This month has been the final straw. It happened again. I spoke with a supervisor. I had him pull up my past payments where this happened and he saw that they indeed were received on time (the payment is electronically stamped with a time and date). He stated that I did receive a credit for the late charge. My problem is, if I had not seen that I got that charge and called about it, they would not have given me a credit. They would have kept taking my money every month for their error. The supervisor told me that it is my responsibility to monitor my account. While I agree that it is, isn't it their responsibility not to be criminals that take peoples money for their errors? How many people has this happened to? I think a class action lawsuit is in order!

This, fortunately for the company, is not a valid complaint...what you're complaining about is called "double dipping" and the optical shop cannot bill sale or discount prices to an insurance~they are required to bill the usual and customary fees, which, clearly the 50% off deal is not...you have the option to use either your insurance or the discount, you can't have it both ways...

JC Penney unauthorized charges to my credit card

When I had my granddaughters' pictures taken in early January, I evidently was automatically signed up for this family awards program without my knowledge or consent. On my next credit card bill, I had a charge (which I can't remember the amount and since I get paperless billing, I can't look at a statement to find out) for my membership in family awards. When I called JCP, they told me I had to call the family awards contacts myself to get the charge removed from my account. I did - to date I have not had a credit applied to my credit card account. Today I checked my account online and there is a charge thru the JCP portrait studio of $39.25 on 7/14. I haven't purchased anything - including portraits - from JCP in July. I suspect I have been charged once again for a program that I never signed up for. I have sent an email to JCP for an explanation of this charge.

I have worked for a JCP portrait Studio now for 3 years and have never heard off anything called the "family awards program" It must be a JCP thing as it is not through the portait sudio which is actually run by lifetouch not Jcpenney. You may want to change your card number as it seems someone may have gotten a hold of your JCP card to make the unauthorized charges.

I did some research online for you and it seems it is a fund is usually started up over phone or internet purchases made with the JCP card the fund than goes toward future JCP store purchases here is a link with a number to unsubscribe yourself from that service /URL removed/

Hope this helps and that you keep visiting the portrait studio, while you can pay for your purchase with a jcp card we have no access to what they can charge you and you always pay the studio, with cash or check if you are worried about your card.

JC Penney unauthorized charges

My wife and I were buying blinds for our home and noticed a 70% off sale at JCPenney. The measurements were entered in at a computer in the back, and the sale completed at the register up front. We wanted to shop the price around so we priced out one blind. At Home Depot the price of a 30" x 53" Bali Casual classic white satin pinstripe shade was 150.00. At JCPenney the price for the same exact shade is $566.00. Which seemed outrageous. But an "Event Retail price" was applied at the computer at the back which brought it down to $169.80. Still not competitive enough with Home Depot. That's when the manager, Henry moss stepped in and told me that the 169.80 had not yet received the 70% off. I pointed out the math and said that it looks as if it had. 169.80 happens to be 70% off of $566.00. He re-iterated and told me that the 70% off cannot be applied until the order gets to the register up front and rung up. To which I said let's ring it up and void it so I can see the price (which should come to about $50.00) Henry Moss told me that if he voids the order I will be charged 25% of the price. Also seemingly outrageous. I said "How do I know if I want it if I don't know the price?" And in front of 2 other employees pointed to the 169.80 and said "I swear to you 70% will come off of this price when you ring it up."' Just a little background, I have my MBA in finance from NYU, my wife who was also present, is the senior marketing director for credit cards at Citigroup. If there is one thing we know it's numbers. There was no misunderstanding. Henry made it clear at least three times. The information given to us by your manager was false.

I took all of the measurements around my house (14 windows) and drove back to JCPenney the following day. My wife and I spent 2 hours logging in the information into a computer in the back. It took this long because the woman who helped me was painfully untrained and had to re-enter the information several times. When the offer did not stand at the front register I demanded to speak to Henry Moss, but he was not around. I got passed around to a few employees landing at Annah Moore who took the information, left for an hour and came back telling us there was nothing she could do. 3 hours and 30 minutes total of my time in the store. The employees who were present at the time Henry told me about the price coming off at the register could not recall any details about the night before. I feel like I was reeled into making this huge investment just so Henry Moss or one of the employees could make a commission. It also seems as if the price of the shades was jacked up to $566.00 so that JCPenney could bring the price down to a competitive level and call it a 70% off sale. I will be contacting Bali to investigate the possible price fixing.

JC Penney two order of furniture damaged, delivery delay

Ordered 2 chairs from JCP within the store the first week of Jan. 09. I was told it would take 6 - 8 weeks for delivery. It took 16 weeks. Chairs were delivered by JCP, chairs were still in sealed boxes. They were never inspected at the warehouse. One chair had a number carved into the leather, both chairs had dye missing, and both chairs had a top cushion that was uneven. I was told that these repairs could be made at my home, but they didn't guarantee their work. I refused delivery. They expedited a 2nd order which I heard about today, now 24 weeks in. Both chairs were inspected by JCP and were damaged. This tells me that the manufacturer that make the chairs have no quality control. A third order might be made by end of Aug. 09, or 32 weeks in. I am presently looking for chairs from other stores, and I will not make any purchases from JCP in the future.

fraud at J.C. Penney online

I was charged $9.95 for a Family Fun Card and I don't want it. In fact, I got nothing out of it so this must be a scam. I bought something online from J.C. Penney and somehow this showed up on my bank statement. Please warn others! I just bounced a check because of this. This fraud needs to be exposed, especially during the holiday season. J.C. Penneys used to stand for quality and I was proud to shop there but not anymore. Everything I have shopped for in the last two years has been produced in another country. Drapes, sheets, clothing, etc. Usually China produced. They didn't pay my unemployment when I lost my job, and I'm sure they won't pay yours either. Please reconsider your purchases from other country's if you want to reclaim quality merchandise. Please remove my name from your mailing list. I don't want cheap merchandise, I can get that at k-mart or Meijer's

JC Penney associate

I think I hear that damn radio in my sleep... The magic number is who gives a #! The magic number is now how many beers I can drink and fish I can catch... Woo hoo — have a great one. See you in 10 days! Oh... And you are sooooo much cooler than the # associates.
Fri at 9:41pm

This is from a jcp department manager, who posted it on another associates facebook account, fully knowing that we have access to his page. I understand that you have the freedom of speech, but associates, especially management ones, should never write something like this in an open forum. Absolutely ridiculous.

I completely agree with you! Who in there right mind would keep that around as a manager? If this person talks this way about her fellow associates, how does she treat customers? Voicing your opinion, of course, is fully understandable, but to do so in a public forum that your coworkers have access to, in this way, is sickening. I hope you passed this little note around to her bosses. They should see what kind of negligent and disrespectful sales managers they have.

"Shame On You JCPenney"
I am writting this to make people aware of a great injustice to a recently deceased associate at your Paradise Valley Store in Phoenix, Az and formally Aurora, Ill.. Sandra Lee Stallmann worked for JC Penney for 28 years .She was a dedicated and loyal JC Penney employee winning ( "many" ) customer service awards. In the years that she worked for JC Penney in Phoenix and formally in Aurora, Illinois she trained and worked with many people who loved her very much. She was also beloved by her many customers. I her fiance could not believe that at her retirement two years ago she did not get a watch or cake as former other associates did in the past. The only thing she received was a plaque which I may ad had her name misspelled. What broke my heart most of all is that after 28 devoted years JC Penney could not even send flowers to her funeral when she passed away this last July 3rd. 2018. Sannde as she was known by her coworkers and customers loved her job at JC Penneys and was so very, very dedicated to the company and to her customers and after she retired talked about how she missed her job, coworkers and customers so very, very much. From were I stand I think that her loyalty and dedication was truly misdirected. I do not expect any kind of response from JC Penney on this matter for I know that they care very little if at all of an loyal associate.

When the schedule for Thanksgiving came out..it had me coming in to work for 1pm. I told the manager I wouldn't even have a Thanksgiving as my family would just be sitting down to eat. He said, quit. If you don't like it..quit. I was shocked that a manager would tell his employee that, a senior citizen at that. I'm a hard worker, the best they have working the truck busting at 68 yrs old. I work in Covington, La. I think and thought about calling the news station as this would be a good human interest story for them as to how JCP treats their senior citizens. Also in the 5 years I've worked there I've only accumulated $1.00 in raises. 5 yrs=$1.00.

I worked for Jc penney for 6.5 years. The first 5.5 years were excellent. It was a great store to work for, good managers. Then In february 2010 things changed! What changed? Steve Phillips became the store manger. he is a Bully and a Lurch in My view of things. He started picking on me on March 2 2010 and would not let up. He critized everything I did. he would track my where abouts and lawys be where I was. If I was on Lunch he would be in the break room just staring and making me very uncomfortable. He was just a nasty and mean person. I finally could not take his harassment of me so I quit. He is the absolute worst person I have worked for. He just picked on me for everything! I am a runner and fell when I was running ina race, broke my nose and 2 big black eyes, he would not let me wear sun gl;### until I had to beg and bugged me about being in domestic Violence situation which is illegal in ca. It got so bad I had to quit. I am not the only one who has quit because of him, the assistant store manager, 1 department manager and several associates. he is just mean and a bully boss! do not work at that store unless you are going to become homeless. They only have p[art time hours now.

JC Penney management

Living 63 miles from the city has its advantages as well as disadvantages. Advantage: By the time I get home from my commute, I am usually decompressed and relaxed. Disadvantage: When I have a bad customer experience, it gives me time to crystallize my thoughts.

Yesterday I looked into my closet and decided it was time for new suits. Being economically stingy as I am, this meant my bi-yearly trip to my “local” JC Penny’s, which, as I stated above, is 63 miles away. In the past this has been a mutually satisfying relationship: I give them my money and they provide a suit I can wear.

After making my $400 plus purchase, I drove the 63-mile trip home looking forward to being smartly dressed the next day.

There was a problem as you have guessed. The attendant neglected to remove the security device that was attached to the jacket. Unfortunately, I did not discover this fact until the next morning, while getting dressed. Plans ruined… to late to return to the store… time to redress… Crap! Now I’m late!

So, wearing a suit I did not want to wear I drove to my meeting. Life goes on, but I needed to return the product to have that damn security device removed. Since the meeting I was attending was an additional three hours away, it meant traveling after the meeting an additional 100 miles out of my way to get the devise removed.

Thirty minutes away from the store, I called to speak with the store manager. I explained the situation and asked if she would be there to speak to me in person when I arrived. Carol said that she would. I verified. Again, I was assured she would be on hand.

I arrived at the store twenty minutes later. I asked for Carol, the manager, and was told that she had left an hour earlier (clearly a lie). I did not argue. Why? Because I knew I would be writing this article.

If Carol had made herself available and listened to my recommendation for customer service improvement, I would not be writing about the experience here, where millions of people will now associate my experience with JC Penny’s. I am a process improvement professional who was willing to give my advice for free. Now I feel insulted and victimized. That I will not abide. I am the customer!

So remember, dear manager, the days of avoiding customer complaints are over. If you won’t hear your customer’s complaints, there are millions of others that will.

JC Penney extremely incompetent salon

I went to jcpenney salon at fair oaks mall, fairfax, virginia on sunday, june 21, 2009 and saw mina. She ruined my hair, not just the color, but the texture and structure. It's not even repairable. You can just see where almost every strand on the top of my head was broken off. I wanted my hair lightened a shade or two. I specifically told her that I did not want my hair red whatsoever! It's very dark brown. Well, it turned out red. I've been dying my hair almost every day since with semi-perm haircolor and it won't even take any color. It's still red. I hate it... It'll take years to get the broken hair to grow out and not have little hairs sticking up all over the top of my head.

Never again! What a horrible place, horrible experience and absolutely horrible hairdresser! Don't go to jcpenney salons, ever! This hairdresser even stood there and tried to defend herself to her collegues that she did what I asked. Horrible! I cried for hours and my hair will be messed up for months. I've had over 50 people ask me what happened to my hair. It's absolutely awful. She should have her license revoked!

My hair has been ruined as well at a JCP Salon. I am missing half of my hair and it is broken off in small pieces all over the top. I got my money back but not my hair. I also did not get the products I was promised by the store manager. JCP is going downhill. They also quit selling my favorite pants, Worthington Curvy fit BOOTCUT. Not everyone is skinny and wants a trouser cut or skin tight pants to wear to work. Thanks JCP. I have been buying my clothes there since 2nd grade. Looking for new stores to shop and never again will I get a color, cut or eyebrows waxed at JCP Salons.

I also disagree and have been going to Mina for a couple years and refuse to let anyone else touch my hair. She gave me the EXACT color I wanted on the first try and always gives me the cut I ask for and if I am not happy with anything for any reason will redo to my exact standard. Over the years of ending up with less than perfect cuts/colors- I have found that it GREATLY helps to bring in photographs of exactly what you want and discuss if it is possible with the stylist before hand. I know how traumatic it can be to have something like that happen to your hair and am sorry that happened to you, but I have never known Mina to not want her customer to be more than happy and always willing to adjust anything I am not perfectly satisfied with. Also I know it is bit late now as your post is from the summer, but in the future you never want to continue putting more color on top of color- as previous poster said you want to go into color correctionist and have a hair pack (special creme) put in that removes the color that was put in so they can then fix to the color you want. I am sure JC Penney would do that for free.

I disagree that the Fair Oaks salon is horrible. I have been driving over an hour for almost 5 years to have my hair done by Daisy. I wouldn't let anyone else touch my hair. I think your issuie is really with the stylist. Consider going to Daisy. Her specialty is color and color correction.

JC Penney - under trained people working ing in the optical department

I needed new glasses in a hurry, the "thick" metal frame around my lenses cracked at the corner and would no longer hold the lense. I had previously purchased this pair and another pair of glasses from JC Penney and thought I might try them again. I looked online and saw that they had a special of 2 pair of glasses for $129, for frames valued up to $130/pr...

JC Penney manager

(I sent this to jcpenneys email online)

I would like to complain about the Manager Jessica at the Avon, Ohio salon. The last 2 times I have been there when she has been working she has been very rude and unkind toward me, also the sale signs were not up the 2 times I have been there and the employees that ring in the salon do not know how to ring correctly!

The first time I went there to return something I had a receipt and the stylist that was ringing me out I guess had clicked the wrong item that I was returning and it said this was not returnable so she then called her manager Jessica. Jessica made me explain the situation even though this obviously should have been the stylist ringings job since she had been the one who was having an issue with the register but I explained it anyways. After I explained she asked if I had used it I said I tried it but it was not what I was looking for. So she tried to return the item and it worked, since she clicked the right item but she then looked at me and was like "It doesn't say that it's not returnable" like I was the one who messed up! She should have been saying this to her employee not me the customer!

A few months later...

The most recent time I went I did not have a receipt since I had lost it but I did buy it within the last 30 days. I just wanted to exchange it for something that was the same price, so therefore it was an even exchange. So Jessica came to the desk to ring me out and I told her I wanted to exchange my item for something else she asked for the receipt I told her I did not have it. She then "inspected" my returning item which happend to only be a small shampoo and accused me of using it already which I had not, and even if I had if you try it once you can always return or exchange it if you do not like it! So she looked at me before she decided to do the exchange and said I remember you from a few months back you came in without a receipt then too (which obviously I did not otherwise I wouldn't have had the situation I explained above). I said actually I had the receipt then she was like either way this is the last time you are allowed to return something here with out a receipt! I just took my bag and walked away and figured I would e-mail you on here to let you know what kind of person you have representing Jcpenneys!

Also I want to let you know I happen to work at another Jcpenneys as a receptionist so I know the rules and Jessica did not know this which means if she is treating me this way then she most likely is treating other customers this way too. The only reason I had went to this salon was the first time I had been since I bought it from there and the second time at my salon we did not have the product I wanted so I figured I could exchange it at the Avon one since I was told that they had it.

That manager needs to learn that you are allowed to return an item (provided that we still even sell that item and its not a year or so old and that you didn't use half of it), to make sure the sale signs are up, that there is someone in the front to take care of customers and good customer service!

JC Penney scam

My credit card has been charge $9.95 each month since January 2009. The claim is that when I ordered online from JC Penneys that I signed up for this. I did not sign up for this membership! First, the claim is that I took advantage of a $10 discount that entered me into this - no, I paid full price, I can track my order on the JC Penney page. I did not receive $10.00 off. Then, I was told that I received a $10 rebate coupon in the mail. No, I did not. I also told the man when I called that I do not agree to these type of programs, and always say "no thanks". He told me he would refund my 3 months of membership payments and cancel my membership. However, before I hung up the phone, I heard him mutter, "[censored]". I doubt he will be following up on his promise. The next step will have to be having the credit card company not pay this fee. Terrible business practices.

agent99, i know what makes him think that...because it's illegal? and as a major retailer, JCPenney would not put themselves on the line that way.

and as far as that goes, i did that the discount sign up as well and I was fully aware of that ...I read the fine print. But if you call to cancel, they do take care of it.

Bottom line...it sounds fun to get random discounts, but always read the other stuff:)

I signed up and saw that I would be charged 9.95 after hitting the submit button, so I immediately got on the phone and called them and let them know that I did not realize that I was signing up for a monthly charge. I was not yet in the system as I had just made the JCP order a half hour before that. The very helpful lady at the 1 888 number let me know that it would take 48 hours to be in the system, she encouraged to go ahead and fill out and send out the form for the 10 dollar gift card and I could always cancel it by calling them or emailing them. We shall see! I will cancel before my 30 days is up...Will update my comment in a few weeks...

I suppose that is POSSIBLE as the reps for each of the "scam" programs are all the same group of people in one call center. But 10 times out of 10 when I ask the cardholder about recent online purchases they admit to accepting the 10 dollar/ percent off coupon on check out. The fine print tells you you're signing up for it.

And before the flaming accusations come, I do NOT WORK FOR JCPENNEY I work for GE money in the credit center for the jcp card. I hate these programs and have pleaded with supervisors and site leaders to get rid of this stuff and apparently JCP won't budge on it.

they have to have some sort of documented consent to do it, and when the ch challenges that fact they can always produce evidence you signed up for it. but if there is a phone call from you into the call center canceling one service I'm certain there are a few dishonest people who would be willing to sign you up for another service and say they received verbal consent.

and you should also "wake up" because not all people are smart enough to realize what they are doing when they do it. work one week in my position and you will understand how stupid people really are.

bacardiboi - what makes you think they can't sign up someone to something without their consent? all they have to do is press a button on your account page, and YOU ARE SIGNED UP, if you wanted it, or not.

someone working there may be getting commissions for each person they sign up, and I've seen phone company sales people do the same thing... so, wake up, not everyone is honest.

he was DEFFINITELY out of line for using that type of language, he could be fired for one instace of that and if you happen to have his name i would call back and ask to speak with a supervisor to report the instance.

but im sure you werent the nicest person in the world either!

the truth is they CANNOT legally sign you up for this without your consent, so i guarantee you DID sign up for it.

JC Penney harassment

I am a an employee of J C Penney at Cortana Mall and my complaint involves the mistreatment of myself and specific co-workers. Over the past three months the harassment has become unbearable with constant threats and comments from manager (supervisors) in reguards of losing our jobs due to suspicious tardies and absences evaluations. This doesn't seem to be an overall store issue and only and select few have been repremanded for the issue. The store stays in horrible condition and is never kept clean and upright until there is a known visit from our district manager. We never receive our schedules in adequate time and when they are posted it is the week of never the week before. I have personally witness superisors let other associates take money out of the store cash registers and place into the own pockets. I also have been sexually harassed by one of my store high ranking mangers. I believe that this store needs to be put under investigation due to the fact the rules and protocol are not being followed properly.

I believe JCPenny is systematically mistreating their employees due to their financial state, what they are doing is a traditional money move that occurs when a company losses millions of dollars. I have a daughter employed at JCPenny and she is experiencing some of the same things.

JC Penney arrest of shoplifting, no advise

I was recent caught for the shoplifting in a store of WA, it was the JC Penney For $135 they called the police! Police took my statement which I signed in which I accepted what I did. My wife was also involved but store nor police called for her but I do not remember if they wrote on the statement that my wife was involved or not. They just asked me for her name and her Date of Birth. Police said i will get a court of notice. I got myself into trouble due to this stupid act of mine. Im from India and on H1-B Guest worker Visa program. I work for the Microsoft Product Team. I cannot let stupid act interfere with Grteen Card!

This what happenedv I took some merchandise and I was actually going to pay for it. But my daughter was hungry so I was just going out into the mall to buy of something to eat her and then I going to come back and pay for it because my car was parked on the other entrance and I had to go through the store anyways. I did not say all this to loss of prevention and police officer because they say it work best for me if I cooperated with them and I say yes to whatever they tole because I was so nervous and I thought of they will never believe me.

I have following questions now:-

1. Reading on websites and forums, they suggest to not accept to be guilty. Should I have not given of my statement to police?

2. Can me and my wife get a jail term?

3. Will police inform my employer?

4. I am on H1B and my wife is going to India and may go for visa stamping if she needs to come back. What affect can this have on her visa stamping? Can my wife get job in US, she can be nurse or other middle class type jobs.

5. My wife is going to India in two days - should she not go to India? I do not know if the court of notice will ask her to appear in court and if stamping is reject and she can not come back, what will happen?

6. How can this affect my H1B? How can this affect my GC which is underway - My I140 is approved? I better than illegal immigrant I have skill and middle class acgtivity. I buy house not many Amuricans can buy house in market.

7. Another possibility is that I be going to India for good in June this year anyways if I do not get any projects due to slower economy so I would also like to understand my options if I am going for good and may not come back in near to mid term future.

8. I know nothing about lawyers. What kind of lawyer should I contact? Does anyone know how can I find criminal and immigration lawyers in WA state? Also any pointers to places or websites where I can get information on lawyers will also be very helpful. Also how much do the lawyers charge (range is fine so that I am better prepared)? Do they spend few hours or a lot of time on the case because I am guess that according there fees will be more?

9. Also typical in how much time the court of notice is sent from the time the incident occurs?

10. Police officer also said he will check if I eligible for a diversion program. I am on H1B so am I eligible for it? How does it work? What should I do next? Can judge accept money. Who knoew judge.

Thanks for your advise and direction!

JC Penney Failure to Act on Fraud

I will never do business with either of these associated companies ever again. I had opened one of theo JC Penny Dept store cards around the holidays, ya know when they ask if you want to save the 10% opening the charge. I've often do so in stores only to pay charge in full and close the account if the purchase was large enough to warrant it. Doing so had never damaged my credit until now!

As it turned out I was living with the borderline personality sociopath who was unfortunately the mother of two of my children. We had no joint accounts, she had no permission to use my accounts or open any in my name or jointly. However, JC Penny decided to send me an opt out notice and upon no response upgrade my dept. store card to a Mastercard. I never received this notice she must have destroyed it. I never knew of the card either she opened it, activated it and charged up thousands of doallars on it including airfare online. Yes folks we're talking about multiple felonies that need prosecuted here.

I ended up discovering her fraud only after finding a statement she had thrown in the trash after I'm not sure how many months it had been activated and been used by her. I filed a police report and due to other legal actions ongoing witht his woman was advised to hold of on prosecution of thise offense. Now the police detective refuses to do anything about it. The District Attorney would do nothing. The police report was faxed and then mailed by mail to Brad Yantz, JCP Fraud dept. (who I am advised no longer works there, likely due to his overwhelming imcompetence and repeated refusal to get on the phone and defer to his assistant). JC Pennny's still done nothing sold account to collections and this has been on MY credit since.

Someone who's been in the top tier of credit scores his entire life now pays the price for the felonies of someone else, and they've refused to prosecute themselves despite constant efforts to correct this matter.

Now the circumstances of my situation are particularly unique, but still what if someone stole your identity, whether they lived with you or now. Would you want to do business with companies like this? Legally I can not be held accountable for this fraud yet still I am and my life has been a living hell since. I'm about to send them correspondance indicating I will seek representation for their failure to clear my name from this fraud as they are legally obligated to do.

My advice to anyone who's smart enough to take it. Don't do business with these companies and if you do and fall victim to fraud. ONLY communicate by them by mail certified return receipt and save all records of your communication. Their dishonesty or incompetence, whichever the case may be, is only surpassed here by the perpetrator.

JC Penney $9.95 unauthorized monthly change on my credit card

JC Penny, under the SB FUN FAMILY REWARDS [protected], was charging $9.95 for this club membership rewards program which I did not authorize.

It was iniated by an online purchase I made by clicking a $10.00 rebate, which i did recieve. They charged me for 3 months and I was able to cancel and have them credit back 2 months.

This is a total scam. I'm pretty good at reading the fine print and don't ever remember seeing this membership enrollment and/or fee.

I will not order anything from JC Penny again.

JC Penney terrible company

I made 3 purchases with JC Penney in the last three months. I spent over $300.00 on pictures of my children and $20.00 in the children's department on clothes. I also reordered more pictures online.

I downloaded my bank statement this afternoon and saw a charge for $9.95 for something called SBS Fun Family Rewards. I googled it and found that this is a program implemented by JC Penney. I have no idea what the program does -- I've received nothing in the mail or email describing it.

No one asked me online or in the store if I wanted to join this program. I never signed anything authorizing any debits from my account. I have contacted the local store and Tom, the Manager, is supposed to call me back tomorrow. No one at the store when I called this evening had heard anything about the program in either the portrait area or the main store.

JC Penney watch quit working 7 weeks after purchase - store wouldn't exchange

My husband gave my a Citizen's quartz watch for Christmas. I exchanged it for a different watch 2 days after Christmas. Mid-February the band fell apart (a pin fell out). I was going to have that fixed myself. A week later when I wasn't even wearing the watch, I noticed that it had quit running. I wasn't able to get to the store until today. I was told that they had already exchanged the watch for me once (true - but the other watch was unused and still in the package since I didn't care for the one I received as a gift) and since I hadn't bought the "customer care" plan they couldn't do anything for me. I was really surprised that they didn't stand behind a watch that didn't even last 2 months. Apparently their return policy is 60 days for "fine jewelry" (which is debatable considering the lack of quality of the watch) without the customer care policy. I would have been happy if they would have given me credit to exchange for a different watch. I had already picked out a significantly more expensive watch while I was waiting for the sales staff to figure out what they were going to tell me. But, of course, with the lack of customer service and indifferent attitude of the sales staff, I'll go somewhere else to buy a new watch. And, it's going to be a long, long time before I shop at JC Penney again.

JC Penney fun family rewards

I made a purchase on JC Penney web site 12-18-07 for some clothing. At check-out they presented a $10 rebate and asked me to confirm my Email address, which I did. A year later I'm looking through me bank statements for medical deductions for income taxes and I find "Fun Family Rewards" at $9.95 taken from my debit account for 14 months. I called the company "stonebridge benefit services. They said they would "cancel me from the program" and refund one month. Big Deal!
I believe the public should know that JC Penney is running a scam. Don't buy on line from JC Penney, or you will live to regret it. I've been a customer since the 1940's. No more. Myron Ullman, is this the best you can do? I guess you'll be in line behind AIG for bailout money.

CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY AND SAY YOU'D LIKE TO OFFICIALLY DISPUTE THE CHARGE! (Let your credit card company do some of the work for you).

In my experience this has been the fastest way to deal with these sort of recurring charges when you've already called the company to cancel the membership and get a refund. This Fun Family Rewards is obviously one of those "scam" companies, and I'm disappointed that JC Penney is associated with them.

I don't even call the 800 numbers for these companies making the bogus charges anymore since it will always be a waste of time. But I tell the credit card company that, yes, I've called the 800 number several times to cancel. (they don't know the difference and you'll end up having to call the credit card company anyway).

If you call your credit card company to dispute a charge, they HAVE TO investigate it. If the company (the one whose charge you are disputing) has a certain amount of time to respond to the dispute. If they don't respond or can't provide proof that you authorized the charge, your card company MUST issue a permanent refund.

Unfortunately, I actually signed up for this Fun Family Rewards intentionally. Some people here signed up accidentally or were signed up without giving permission. Either way this service is still a scam!

When I went to the Fun Family Rewards website to check out the discounts/coupons, I couldn't log in. I had written down my user ID and password in the beginning, so I know they were correct. Finally I used the "reset password" option You have to enter your ID to get a new password sent to you so I know my ID was correct. The password they e-mailed me didn't work! I did this literally about 10 times and the passwords never worked!

There's no "contact us" link on their site, or at least not on the home page before you log in. I kept calling the 800 customer service number and got stuck on hold and ended up just hanging up. I'm sure these things are all part of their strategy to waste our time and rack up a month or two more of $9.95 payments!

Today I just called again to complain and cancel my membership and FINALLY got a real person! I explained the situation and insisted on a refund. The woman said she could give me a refund, but did I realize this meant I'd be missing out on some fantastic coupons and discounts? Get a Clue!

I said I'd only consider keeping my membership if they gave me the refund and fixed the password problem. She said if I kept the membership I can't get a refund. But if I completely cancelled my membership then I can get a refund - these people are idiots!

So I cancelled my membership, and she promptly tried to sell my some life insurance and just wouldn't stop pushing all of their "wonderful" insurance products. I politely stated that, "I think we're done here so I'll be ending this call now - thank you and goodbye."

You can bet I'll be looking for the refund on my credit card statement - and it had better be for the whole 3 months. If I don't get it I'll just dispute the charge with my card company and let them spend some time on it.

Anyway, I might eventually call JC Penney to complain - but then again I've wasted enough time on this already.

I would not have felt this set up for Perfect Home 2 was a fraud if they had given me the $10 off the item I ordered as per their advertisement. That is the only reason I signed up for a 30 day free trial of Perfect Home 2 (whatever that is). All JC Penney and Perfect Home 2 had to do was keep their word, but they did not. As far as I'm concerened this is unethical and fraudulent. I have already filed a complaint with the BBB and FTC both. If they are carrying on this fraudulent practice, then they deserve the consequences.

I received the $10 discount and membership package. I thought I would give it a try, unfortunately, I then forgot about it until six months or so later, I found the membership card with the 800 number, I was refunded all but one month after the operator checked and saw that I had not used it.

I understand these complaints I use to work for this company and believe me I know how the folks complaining feel. I was noting but a hardworking dedicated associate and found out after being downsized none of it mattered. I can remember working non stop for 8 hours or more last holiday season ringing shoppers out while management set in their large offices. I would finally get a break and discover managers talking on the phone with loved ones, eating, or talking with each other.
