Towed vehicle from apartment complex because parking permit was not displayed. Vehicle towed August 6, 2017. Was on vacation when vehicle was towed. No attempt was made by the towing company to notify vehicle owner. Returned from vacation August 13, 2017 to discover that vehicle had been towed. When JAC'S towing was in process of removing the vehicle, another resident yelled to them that the vehicle belonged there. At that point, as a common courtesy the towing company should have inquired with the office staff at the apartment complex if the vehicle was in fact registered there. If it was after office hours, they simply could have waited until morning and inquired at that time.

When dealing with the personnel at JAC'S Towing in recovery of the vehicle, they implied that we may have been trying to share the parking permit with others, friends, guests, etc., so at that time we presented them with the parking permit which was in the vehicle which clearly shows that we had no intent of wrong doing. We were told by JAC'S personnel to stop whining and pay the bill. That comment was rude and unethical.

When we were recovering the vehicle we were forced to pay in cash (fortunately between the four (4) family members we were able to come up with the full amount) and were rudely informed that no credit card access was available because it was the weekend after hours and he did not carry a credit card machine with him.

We paid $560.00 to recover the vehicle and were told we would be receiving a letter from the NCDMV informing of the tow. Jac's wrote a receipt to us for $360.00 which did not reflect a $200.00 fee to the State of NC which we also paid. We were told the additional $200.00 fee was a filing fee to the State of North Carolina which was required and had to be filed because JAC'S had the vehicle longer than five (5) days. Again, had we been notified this could have been avoided. We were only made aware that the vehicle had been towed when we returned from vacation. If this had been a medical emergency, due to lack of notification we are concerned what would have happened to the vehicle? Would we have lost it entirely?

(September 29th - 54 days from date of towing) received notification from NCDMV that the vehicle was being held at Jac's and to make arrangements to recover the vehicle. Had we been unaware - due to whatever circumstance - that the car was in their possession there could have been an additional charge to us of approximately $962.50 just for storage not counting tow fee and filing fee. A policy needs to be in place to notify vehicle owners immediately.

Would like a refund for the storage fee and filing fee to the State of North Carolina as Jac's failed to notify vehicle owner and appears to have filed the report with the State of North Carolina in a timely manner and did not show the filing fee on customer invoice. Original payment was $560.00. Request refund of $380.00 which is $200 for filing fee and $140 for storage fee and $40 for after hour pick-up. We were forced to pay after hour pick up based on the time of day when we returned from vacation and discovered vehicle had been towed.
