Today my son purchased a Ja-ru cap gun and caps. UPon firing the first cap, the gun burst into flames and melted. It caused a minor burn on his hand. I understand that there is a hazard when using any caps. My problem is that with todays toy standards, how is it possible that toy makers can place so much of the flammable substance into these caps to cause a hard plastic toy to melt almost immediately. This is a real safety hazard for children that play with this toy.

My 8-year-old son had ring caps in his pocket. One ignited setting off a chain reaction in which they all ignited. He suffered second degree burns over about a four square inch area of his knee and thigh requiring a visit to the ER and follow up at the pediatrician. I've attached a photo of his burn and one of the package of ring caps.

I too bought these caps for my grandson's toy gun and fire and sparks shoot out when the caps are ignited. Thank God I tried the gun first.

My son was playing in his room and noticed a small fire in one of his toy bins. He came and told us about it. We were able to pull the bin out and put the fire out. We didn't know what started it until we saw the cap gun and caps. The gun didn't have any caps in it, but there were caps near it. All the caps were melted and the had a burn on it. We are lucky that it happened while we were home, because we were about to leave for a few days. Scary! This toy should be banned.

I also bought superbang ring caps and gun for my 9 year old son. caps were in his pocket ignited and caught his shorts on fire, he suffered 2nd degree burns to his right thigh and was scared to death not to mention the pain of being burned and having dressing changes twice a day to his leg.
