Iowa Steak salesman misrepresented product — buyer beware, in mt. vernon il area

A salesman came to my house and first asked me if I was familiar with Omaha Steak. I said that I was--that my mother had purchased filets from Omaha over the years. He led me to believe that was what he was selling. Another salesman then approached, showing me the product. When I mentioned that his shirt said Iowa Steak Company, he said they were a sister company, saying he could show me the website. I replied that wasn't necessary. I purchased $200 worth of beef, thinking I was buying Omaha-like steak. Afterwards, I went on line, found the number, and called Omaha. They informed me that they are not in any way related to Iowa Steak Company. I then went on line and read the reviews for Iowa Steak Company, and there were many that stated the meat smelled old and tasted old, that it was tough and some thought it had been thawed and refrozen. Within the hour I called my bank to stop payment on my check, but my check had already been cashed. Never again will I buy anything from a door-to-door salesman. Obviously, I haven't tasted the steak yet, but I already have a bad taste in my mouth because of the misrepresentation. The salesman's name is Andy Cooley.
I would like to return the beef and receive a refund.

Iowa Steak salesman

Around 5:20 on April 21st in Vancouver, Wa a sales representative approaches my house. My windows are open so he proceeds to talk through the window. I immediately inform him that I don't want any meat, I am vegan. As he starts to walk away he said, "he don't look vegan!" I'm assuming he was referring to my husband. I said, "excuse me sir, what did you say?" Then he proceeded to tell me that he's been selling meat for 14 years and he knows a thing or two... I simply said "I don't know what that even means sir, have a good day!"

I do not appreciate any kind of stereotypes especially in My Own Home. . .

Iowa Steak not providing refunds

On February 9 I cancelled my transaction and a representative came to my home to pick up the products that had been left less than 24 hours earlier. I was first told I would have to wait for the main office to cut me a refund check. My husband said "NO. You can refund my card just as you charged it." I am still waiting for my refund after 14 days. It clearly states on the back of their receipt that I can cancel within 3 days and be completely refunded in 10. This is completely unacceptable. Do not do business with these people.

Iowa Steak door to door meat sales

Hires a bunch of heroin addicts. One travels around our neighborhood in the company truck waiting at the Sunoco station around 11:30 every morning with his woman for the dopeboy to hand him his hit for the day. Hangs around the neighborhood with the local junkies and drives them where they need to go. Haven't seen him sell a steak but kills himself to get a hit.

Iowa Steak employees stealing!!!

Today January 26th, As I was about to nap with my 7 week daughter my doorbell rang, when look out the window it was a Iowa steak truck, a man at my door and another in the drivers seat of the truck. I did not answer as I did not want to purchase anything. We had a Dallas Cowboys flag hanging on a flag post on our front stairs. As the man at my door walked away he grabbed our flag and flag post and went and got in the truck. They backed out of my driveway and sped off. My boyfriend and his boss have put calls into the company. They state they called the truck and the men denied taking the property, also they would search the truck when they returned! We had the sheriff and family out looking for the company truck! The company knows that I had watched their employee take our property, they know that they most likely would get rid of it before returning since they got called about it. We are very upset that they were low enough to steal from us all because we didn't answer the door! The company is protecting thieves and do not care what they did in their company truck!

Iowa Steak chicken

One of the salesmen from Memphis, driving the truck came to my house about a week ago. He was very polite, professional. I bought the steak package and the chicken package. I am only 50% satisfied. The only product in the chicken package we like is the chicken strip's. We have tried every other chicken and we do not like them at all. I would like to remedy this by returning/exchanging the all the chicken for the chicken strips. Can you please contact me by eMail, [protected]@live.com, or by phone, [protected]. TY very much. By the way the steak's are wonderful. The only complaint there is the rib eyes, although very tasty they are almost 50-60% fat. Can I be compensated with a couple more ribeyes to make this a fair purchase. I look forward to hearing from you.

Iowa Steak a sales person and/or delivery man.

I was on my porch enjoying the weather. He drove by and yelled at me about the team shirt I was wearing. Yes, I do live in a town that does not like the team that I do, but I have never been cursed at like that even on game day when my team wins. I never knew a company that would allow such rudness in their employees. Do you want people to have respect for your company?

Iowa Steak overcharged! rip off! scam!

Some salesman from Iowa Steak Company showed up at my door, selling meat out a freezer on the back of his truck. He claimed to have been at my neighbors and stopped in to try to get rid of what he had left beings it was toward the end of the day. Long story short, he talked my wife into 2 boxes of meat for one price of $299.00 When my wife wrote the check he said the total with tax would be $329.21. That's a ripp off! In Ohio the only time you pay sales tax on food, is when you dine in. He also had the check made out to him (Julian Connolly) personally and he cashed the check immediately at the bank on the same day! We haven't tasted the meat yet. Stay away from these scammers.

I used to work for a few of these company's. The way the guy handled the business transaction is the proper procedure that they are taught. They are not really scammers per se they sale a product that they get for say 100 per case with 6 boxes in each case for whatever number they come up with. A person can only charge what the customer is ready to pay. So as for your price of 299 plus tax you ended up paying 60.75 or so extra per case. If you would have purchased from local grocer your steak would of been more than you paid for both so not really a rip of. You get 58 to 62 cuts of meat for 150 dollars that comes up to 2.50 per cut. I just paid 20.91 for 2 N.Y. strips 2 days ago from Bilo. Now to cooking instructions. Straight from freezer to grill or pan. No thawing. Pretty sure you were told that when you purchased.

This is almost exactly what I experienced without the tax part, What a great deal it is(it is not), he had a good sob story as well( he played up the" I am a Vet" angle) I am in WA state. I never have had a check cashed so quickly and it was after 5p. He had me leave check blank. A learning lesson indeed. Check online for reviews of any company. I am still figuring out how to cook the meat, esp the hamburgers. No matter how long I fry or bake these things, they bloat and swell and never really get cooked inside. If they show up at your door, seems the easiest way to get rid of them is to say you are vegetarian. I will try the number and see where I get.

2 guys came to our door and suckered us into buying their "good deal" meats. they said it's satisfaction guaranteed and so on and so on. We tried it and DO NOT like it at all...and don't suggest it to amyome...we called and they refused to do anything. It's the worst meat and worst service ever...definitely a scam! somebody needs to do something to stop these guys. reveal the truth...i want my money back.

Iowa Steak steak

Bought $400 worth of steak in January 2016. I was told it was satisfaction guaranteed for a year. Steak was tough. I was moving in April so I waited til I got in my new house to call them to come get their meat. Finally showed up in May and took the meat. I was told I would get a credit on credit card. Called rep and secretary several times and still no refund. I am now going to try small claims court.

Iowa Steak suspicious-tasting meat / no one in company answers the phone!

A salesman from Iowa Steak showed up at our door late on a Sept. Saturday. Despite my initial refusal to look at his products, he went on and on singing their praises. Finally he "sweetened the deal" on the price he was quoting me that my husband and I agreed to buy steaks from him. He assured us that the meat was unadulterated beef, so how bad could they be?

$539 later, we are stuck with multiple boxes of VERY poor quality steaks! In addition to the fact that they shrink considerably when grilled (and they are quite thin to begin with), they are much tougher than comparable cuts at the local grocery store AND they have a taste which suggests they have been treated with some kind of chemical(s). The taste is so bad that we can't bring ourselves to eat any more of the products. We also found that some of the still-frozen packages had been sliced open.

Unfortunately, we cannot get ANYONE from Iowa Steak to answer the phone - not our "salesman" (whose phone # is "not reachable" according to the recorded message), not the local store, and not any of the company's customer service numbers I found online. We feel so taken advantage of! We will be contacting the Colorado Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General in the hope that they will take action against Iowa Steak.

Iowa Steak poor quality meat

I bought a box of a variety of different cuts of steaks. The salesman quickly showed them to me in my driveway. As he was flashing open the boxes he was describing all the cuts and he couldn't say enough good things about the meat.He flashed me a box of hamburgers and said they were juicy lucys.
Before I could say anything he was on to another box of cuts. These juicy lucys are about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch thick. The steaks look good quality when they are in the package. When you cook them they are so thin you can almost see through them. Our cat wouldn't even eat any.I cancelled my check on this order and told them to pick up the remaining meat.I wasn't going any further than the two steaks we tried out of the whole box.I figured if this was an indication of the quality we didn't need to try any more.needless to say I was really pissed off after I started to read all the other complaints about this ripoff scam. The salesman even had the nerve to ask me for $5.00 for gas money.WHAT a JOKE...

Iowa Steak unethical behavior/poor reviews

I purchased a box of steaks and unfortunately did not read the reviews until after the purchase. Doesn't seem there are any good reviews.

I noticed that the salesperson was at my neighbors so I took the meat down there hoping to make an easy exchange. He got belligerent with me and did not want to talk to me in front of her. When I asked for my check he said he had already cashed it but of course did not have the money to give to me. I found it hard to believe that he didn't have the cash since he had cashed not deposited the check. Hopefully when I contact the company by phone tomorrow they will be a lot nicer issuing the refund.

Iowa Steak beef package

My husband bought a case of frozen beef "steaks" from a salesman and when I read the ingredient list on each product it listed plum juice and spices in the meat. When you cook it per their instructions purple juice runs out of it. I tried to contact the company twice by email but they didn't reply. The T-bone steaks were so thin that you couldn't cook them without having them shrink and turn to leather. He paid $165, that was the discount price, and there was more chopped steak than any thing and it averaged out to $10 a pound!

Iowa Steak steak/chicken

I purchased 2 cases of steak and 2 boxes of chicken from Rachel at Iowa Steak Company in Myrtle Beach, SC. She informed me at the time that regardless of the 3 business day cancellation policy on the invoice, that if I was not satisfied, she would take care of the matter and issue a refund. After trying a few of the steaks, I was very unhappy with the quality of the meat. One steak even tasted sour. I called Rachel and she informed me that she would talk to the manager about a refund and return my call. I questioned her regarding this procedure since SHE was the one who assured me that SHE would make good on this purchase if I was not satisfied. She also denied that she ever told me that she would give me a refund. She never called me back and I was unable to reach her after this conversation.
Unfortunately, I took her at her word. DO NOT! Now, I have cases of steaks/chicken that I cannot eat. I spent $360.00 on food that I will never eat! BEWARE CUSTOMER. TRY THE PRODUCT FIRST!

BAD STEAKS- SAME SALES PERSON-RACHEL

MYRTLE BEACH RESIDENTS BEWARE!

Hello,

I purchased TWO 2.5lb boxes of boneless beef filet from your representative Rachel in Myrtle beach when she came to my home to solicit her business. The representative was polite and courteous, and I even told her I would refer business to her if I liked her product line. I just cooked four of the steaks having guests over, and they were HORRIBLE!
Completely full of fat and grizzle and tendon like tissue inside the meat. Was this even a filet I was sold, or some other cut cleverly disguised to be sold as a file? I have owned, operated, and managed restaurants and know my meat products, and yours is garbage. I expect a phone call and a full refund. You may pick up these steaks should you choose to at my house. Let me know what day you will come and i’ll leave your garbage out by the curb join a plastic bag.

I have never been so disappointed in a product that calls themselves “Gourmet” in my life. I have purchased from Omaha, and Pat LaFrieda for years and NEVER had one single issue with any of there products.

I kindly request that you contact me to resolve this matter promptly.

Should I not hear back from you in two business days I will register a complaint with the department of consumer protection, contact the local health department, and convey my displeasure on any and all review sites I can find online.

Iowa Steak horrible meat plus disgruntled customer

I bought a package of these steaks on 7/29/15 from a young man who came to my door. He assured me these were the best, delicious steaks
ever. Well, they were not! They were tough, poor quality meat and paper thin. My husband, who is an advid beef eater, said they were the worse
steaks he has ever had.

I called to complain about these steaks to a phone number listed on their webpage and the woman told me someone would call me back from the Novi, Michigan office. Well, no one ever did. I feel this is very poor customer service. I was not expecting a refund, but they could have at least called me back.

I will never buy or recommend these steaks to anyone.

Iowa Steak tough dry and burned!

August 21'st 2015. A salesman stopped at my door and I was immediately skeptical. I should have known they would be bad steaks. First of all the salesman was dressed poorly wearing blue jeans, t-shirt, baseball cap, and sporty sunglasses. What kind on salesman dresses like a like that? I think he must have been on drugs and was just trying to make money for more drugs. Secondly the truck he was driving, although newer and had what seemed to be a commercial grade freezer built on, it was dirty and the front grill had dead bugs on it. He said that he was doing some deliveries in the area and stopped by to meet new people during down-time. Sounds fishy I thought. Who does that? He was clean but unshaven and smelled like cigarette smoking. Right there at that point I already knew he was on drugs. I should add that he appeared a bit out of shape. Very blue-collar. I don't normally purchase red meat but my mom bought me a grill for my birthday so I figured I could put it to use. He talked a lot about my vintage car. It's a 1936 Mercedes Benz Roadster. That made me a bit nervous. I closed my garage after he left. I didn't really know what to say to him to make him go away so I told him I wasn't interested. He was very pushy. He told me it was free to look and that he had time to kill. Yeah, I bet... To kill what? Or who!? I wasn't about to let him in my house so I let him show me the meat on the front porch. To my amazement it "looked" like good meat. Nicely packaged. USDA inspected and dated fresh. And the deal he offered me was good. $225 for 50 steaks. I purchased the large box of beef because I wanted to try it. Last night I did try it. The salesman told me to cook them straight from frozen and not to cook them very long. But that's not even safe! This is beef! I was still a bit nervous about the meat so I cooked them extra hot and long on the grill. I gave the first one to my neighbors dog. We don't have one. He seemed to enjoy it. When I tried to bite into one myself it was very very tough! It was also dry and a bit burnt. I not a Chef but I don't think a steak is supposed to burn so easily as I kept my grill temperature below half on the temp indicator (500) and kept them on no more than 30 minutes. My neighbor offered to buy the box of meat from me for $100. So I'm out $125 now and I will NEVER buy from this salesman again! I did contact the companies customer support and they offered to exchange the box but my neighbor had already purchased from me so apparently that voids the guarantee. Unprofessional! I think if they want me as a customer they should have give me my money back. I will tell everyone never to buy meat!

Iowa Steak be a believer

I was always skeptical of the door to door people selling meat. On 7/8/15 I made the decision to go ahead and give it a try and purchased steak and chicken breasts from a door to door salesman here in Ohio. My grand total came up to be $165.00. After eating some of the steaks I knew that this was a bad decision. The T-bones were like chewing on leather. The chicken breasts are not real, they are wanna be breasts. The lime cilantro ones are absolutely horrible and so salty that they are not edible for humans or animals. Please believe the negative reviews that are posted and do not buy anything from this company. It will save you the regret.
The information that I have to offer for my complaint is my authorization # 001151, reference # 286 and the salesman was a man named Brad in Dayton, Ohio. IF YOU ARE APPROACHED BY ANYONE SELLING MEAT FROM THIS COMPANY DO NOT HESITATE TO SAY NO!
