Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Availability

I have now been a "gold" member for over eight years and never has there been one time any property, cruise or vacation available regardless of how early I tried to book (Even over a year in advance) ! Interval international is nothing but a ponzi scheme... You pay fees... They post vacation properties that have no availability for years in advance and the customer service reps. Even acknowledge it! But say, "well maybe something will come available before your travel window", yea, and maybe i'll win a lottery! Should be investigated for fraud!

I worked there for 12 yrs ...I can sit here for hours on how this is about selling weeks nor trading. I have memos on how they change codes to hide or make inventory getaways instead of deposited weeks. . Another thing let's say a resort pays back interval with 100 units. 7 go to trade 40 go to getaways the rest split to rent hold back.or whatever... the resorts in ur directory is a sham. . All the have to have is 1 unit available to be on directory. Example resort has 100 units. One trades as timeshare therefore only 52 people out of the 2 million plus can confirm there a year...

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Hidden fees, changing fees, and worst customer service!!

I won a bid for a week of time share via intervalworld. First they did not have the place I wanted to go which was listed on website. Next I have to pay meal plan bc I booked an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica ( which is fine ) but it was way tooooo expensive. I called costumer service for 2 days see if they can lower the price because on the website it states "no price reduction if stay less than 7 day" and we booked for 7 days. They told me no they can't do anything. I wanted to talk to manager and they would not let me. How rude and horrible customer service and company. I do not think they will last! How ridiculous

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Poor customer service, inaccurate information, no resolve

I booked an exchange with Interval this year for my daughter for her honeymoon. I expect when using Interval to do exchanges and bookings to know what they are selling, and to read the amenities and promotions, with an understanding, and correctly communicate to the customer what they will be receiving with their reservation. When making the reservation with Interval, I was quoted amenities that we didn't qualify for. At the time of booking, part of the lure of choosing this resort was the additional promotional benefits I was told came with the booking. But two weeks before the honeymoon, I am informed that we don't qualify for that promotion, which totaled $509. As one could imagine, $500 is a lot of money to come up with at the last minute. Upon calling Interval to resolve this problem, I was transferred many times, re-telling why I was calling, and even disconnected twice. The second time I was disconnected was after an hour on the phone with no resolve. And the agent did not return my call. I called in again, another 40 minutes trying to get back to that agent, but no luck. The following day, more transfers and re-telling, another 40 minutes on the phone, and the only option to resolve the matter was to cancel the current booking and re-book at a lesser expensive resort. My daughter wanted an all-inclusive, and their option was not comparable nor all-inclusive. I am very disappointed in their lack of accountability for their agents, their lack of understanding what they are booking, and their poor customer service in general. When you call, your hold times are unbearable, and I can't help but feel like they just don't care. No compensation for their mistake, nothing for the runaround I was given on the phone, and I'm left a very unhappy customer.

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Scam false certificate

On Sept 2014, I won a bid receiving a Gift Certificate from Interval International while attending the Headdress Ball. The gift certificate was valued at $1000.00 and despite numerous emails I have received poor customer service and hotel denials despite providing flexible dates and times. I recently called all the Florida hotels listed since their travel choices were limited. I was told there was NO availability by interval and they do not help with alteentive choices. I am appalled at how they stay in business.

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Exchanges

I contacted II about an deposit. The service worker put me on hold and I was passed around to other service workers for over an hour. I was repeatedly told that the managers would not take my call when i asked to speak to one. This company does not consider service as a part of their job. My complaint was minor when I started but I now see that no one wants to prove good service at this company. I have for years accepted off season weeks for the summer weeks I deposit, but no more. I will now try other exchange companies going forward.

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Unethical business practice

I booked a last minute get away with Interval International. I paid for my airfare and everything online prior to leaving and I believed I was all ready to go. When I got to the hotel in Mexico after staying a night, they presented me with another bill next morning, a MANDATORY All inclusive bill for $3, 500. I thought they were kidding. I called the company in Florida and asked to speak with a representative. The first lady on the phone was empathetic and totally understood that this situation was an unfortunate one. She transferred me to a gal who handles these cases. The lady simply said she couldn't do anything for me. It was in the fine print. She said if I had called and made the purchase with them over the phone they would tell me of these mandatory fees but since I booked online on my own, it was my fault. Look, I work in education and my hands are tied. I book online because its convenient for me. So to be told this, it is ridiculous.
Going back to the billing situation. First and foremost, I am in Mexico, and I have no idea if I really had a choice?! And thought what would happen to me if I didn't pay. I was scared and very anxious. I asked them why didn't they bill this to me before I had arrived. Anyone in the right mind would see, that is NOT a deal and not book that. Had I known there would be this fee. I would not of booked this. I would have booked something with Airbnb or Vrbo instead. I don't know, I figured I would email and ask if this is ethical? Its like this was setting a consumer up for failure. I have the money and I will pay for this. I just wasn't sure if this was best practice on their end. Any information you can provide would be great. Thank you so much for your time. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Free certificate scam

Interval advertises and rewards members with free certificates. Problem is that when you go to the website they tell you to choose from available locations for the dates you need. You check off up to six boxes for the months "available". You then find out there is no availability for those dates. Then you check the box to find out what dates are available for the locations available. You guessed it! There are no alternative dates available either! There is nothing to believe about interval international or international travel solutions, or whatever travel club you choose. You are better off making your own travel plans than relying on interval or any of the travel clubs that trick you into believing they are there for you! They are not there for you. They are there for them only.

I have the same experience - the certificate is a scam! I had to let two certificates expired. In my opinion the whole timeshare industry is a big scam. I am trying to get rid of my time-share unit with Marriott.

I've been going through the same thing with the certificate. I was trying to find something local and can not find it. I've been trying for months now the time is running out. I tried and tried again and found a two bed room resort. When I went to put my credit card info info it the site kicked me out. I go back to do it again the site kick me out again. I went back in and the resort was not there anymore. I called the customer service line and they had the balls to tell me that they never put out a two bedroom unit for the certificate and even though the cirtificate says two bedroom. I go check on the getaway for the same dates and there was the resort I was trying to reserve with the same dates. That's because they can make money on it. The customer service is rude. They don't care and not accomodating. This place is a scam. Becareful.

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Car rental fraud

As an Interval International Platinum member, I chose to rent a car online using their website. The price quoted, including tax was $322.40 for a standard size car in Orlando for October 10-17, 2014. When I got the confirmation, the price was modified to $420.73. Although I cancelled the reservation directly with Hertz, I had to spend approximately three hours of back and forth phone calls to get this matter resolved. Interval, unfortunately, took little or no action and I was entirely on my own. I really thought that my upper scale membership would at least allow me some personal attention on this matter, but all they would say was we are sorry that you had that experience. At the end, I had to use another service to get the car rental, which cost me more than the price quoted on their website.

Oddly, had this been a restaurant, the manager would have taken quick steps to ensure that I was satisfied, even to the extend of offer compensation of some sort or a free meal. All Interval could say that it was my fault.

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Deceitful marketing

This is an absolute scam! I went to presentation, mostly for the free trip to vegas. Ended buying a trial membership they offered me for $1000 for 2 years when i declined the full membership. Even this trial without a commitment i feel is now a waste. I will still end up using it, since i paid for the 30, 000 one time points, but after looking through everything, i will have paid more than if i had booked something on my own for a week. Or end up staying in poor quality accommodations. Here are some of the highlights of their offer:

Trip to vegas. After i mailed in the information i received more info. I was given the options of where i can stay. There were two to choose from both were rated 1 1 / 2 stars and when i checked a random mid week (Oh yes, you find out later you have to travel mid week) the rates were like $28 per night. In order to even send in your 3 requested dates you have to mail a $100 deposit. Im pretty sure if i actually did decide to take this trip i would unknowingly do something to compromise the agreement and not get my $100 back. Or have to go to extraordinary effort to get it back. Just a gut feeling. I did ask about going on a weekend and i did ask if it would be a nice hotel. They said yes on weekends and then said, of course a nice hotel, it will be one comparable to all our resorts. I feel he is probably right about that. Most of their resorts are probably rated 1 1 / 2 stars.

$200 restaurant gift card? For that you have to log into website and print coupons for a variety of restaurants. Not a problem, except that you have to use them in small increments. Example, save $20 at xyz restaurant when you spend $60. Annoying

Discounts on travel. I compared their travel site to travelocity, expedia, etc. They were sometimes the same. Usually they were more.

Use your points at any hotel. They apparently eliminated this policy 1 week after i joined. They said because they are offering such great deals on travel, they no longer offer this. Actually they don't offer great discounts on travel and they obviously never had this policy, just one of many lies to sell a membership.

Use your points for disney cruise. From what i could research you can use your points, plus pay a booking fee that is actually the same amount of money you can book the cruise for on your own. So you basically give up your points for letting them make your reservation.

Break up your points to use in mini vacations (2 - 3 days) . So far i haven't been able to figure out how this works (On website) . Everytime i think i'm getting somewhere, it redirects me. Maybe a glitch at the time. Maybe trying to steer me back to the full week? Who knows.

Summary: they told lie after lie after lie to get me to sign up. When i still wouldn't because it sounded ridiculously awesome, they offered me the trial for $1000. The membership was for $7000 i think? I say ridiculously awesome because from what they were saying, who wouldn't do this? I figured for $1000 i could satisfy my curiosity and i'd get a week stay somewhere, which would still be a good deal. Nope, waste of money, waste of time. So sad that these people exist and sadder for people who invest their hard earned money into a membership!

Ps. I went to presentation in orange, california

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Vacation ownership scam

At a NJ winery I entered a vacation contest. I got notified via phone and e-mail that I won in Atlantic City four free airline tickets and if I arrived at Flagship Resort by Sun. I would also get much more bonus gifts: two free buffet meals, two free show tickets, outlet mall coupons and free two night mini-vacation. Well in order to get the free package I scheduled an appointment at the Flagship Resort on Sept. 2013 that was supposed to last 2-3 hours.
I arrived at the Flagship, FantaSea Resorts, got greeted cordially and met with a real estate agent. I got told about a "vacation ownership" platinum plan from Interval International that was a fee simple ownership that was not supposed to be a timeshare. The agent also said that the Flagship Resort was the only place in Atlantic City offering a "vacation ownership". Well the real estate agent was lying because he was describing a timeshare with a lifelong plan you could have others inherit. The agent also lied because Atlantic City has other timeshares at multiple hotels. The agent said that 51 people shared "vacation ownership" of a unit. The platinum maintenance fee was $671/year, another fee $89/year but you only paid $350/week for vacating each time you scheduled a hotel visit up to twelve times a year. The real estate agent first said a platinum membership cost $5, 995. The real estate agent waived the membership and quoted $23, 000 cost to buy the plan. When I said too expensive he quoted $15, 000, I complained and he quoted a different one week vacation plan at $9, 000 then lowered it to $8, 000. If you figured out the math with 51 timeshare owners of a unit the Flagship Resort got paid approximately 1 million dollars from selling a unit.
I said no to the realtor, and then walked to get my free bonus gifts. I got greeted by a supervisor who explained another RCI plan with no fees, a trial membership with one week vacation costing $1200 and each vacation hotel day costing $100 daily. At this time five 1/2 hours had passed with my listening to this real estate scheme and I couldn't wait to leave and felt that the whole thing was a scam.
The real estate agent was pressuring me to made a decision that day or lose the deal. I was never shown a contract in writing and only got told lots of BS.
I drove home and went online researching complaints about Interval International and RCI. Boy did I read lots of complaints; i.e. difficulty reserving timeshares, hidden fees, people regretting that they signed up for the timeshare, difficulty selling them, etc.. I am so happy that I didn't get conned.
My advise is if you hear about winning a prize in Atlantic City of four free airline tickets say that you are not interested and don't go to find out.

They are stealing from us. I have never stayed in an above average room and we have a deeded house timeshare. we were told all kinds of lies about getting a good exchange and even better if we submitted our property early. the people who get the nice rooms dont have any skin in the game, they are still trying to skin them. I hope others will beware when they read this. Interval has taken so much money from us in exchange for NOTHING!

If you already own a timeshare you mean nothing to the resorts. Interval seems to have a deal to never have our leval available. The nice rooms go to the vacationers that can be wined and dined and still may buy a timeshare. They already have our money, why should they care about us. I am going to complain and complain. I hope they end up with a law suit like RCI for doing the same thing. They totally misrepresent themselves.

If i were you i would cancel that membership a long time ago. Do you know how to proceed? they might tell you it is not possible to cancel the contract and other stuff to make it difficult for you. If you'd like, here you can find some tips to cancel your contract legally:

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Misleading

A couple of days ago I was making some enquiries about using up expiring points with my timeshare. I explained that for the three years I had already been a gold member of Interval International not once had they been able to provide any sort of suitable accommodation anywhere we wanted to go when we wanted to go. I was asked if I wanted to extend my membership and I said NO as I had never had any satisfaction from the company in 3 years. The girl went on to say if I did upgrade my membership straight away I would no longer have to pay any gift certificate fees, and there were many, many other benefits. I WAS CONNED, My understanding was the upgrade paid for all costs. WRONG. They still charge huge booking fees with every booking. I have requested the upgrade be canceled and the old gold membership reestablished as it did not expire until June. At this stage they will not cancel the upgrade or refund what I paid. This was only 2 days ago. I have offered 9 families the "deals" offered by Interval international and NOT ONE is any good for any ot the families and they do not want to pay any more fees. I repeat I HAVE BEEN CONNED BY INTERVAL INTERNATIONAL. Do NOT go near them, they are a nightmare.

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com This company will wine and dine you and convince you that your really getting a good deal

This company will wine and dine you and convince you that your really getting a good deal. Well, there are no good deals when your in Mexico. In fact, after we bought the package we went to them the following day and said we did not want it and wanted to return the materials and cancel the whole thing. They said “You can’t” and I said there are laws and that we were US citizens and that wasn’t right … they said “Your in Mexico now”. So,
we kept it for fear of additional problems.

We have been extremely unhappy with this company. They have ‘everything’ set their way. There’s no good way to ever get anything from them because they lie through their teeth. You would not believe some of the things that have gone on. We recently booked a place to go for a week…. when we checked out credit card statement we were charged almost 3 times what was shown on their web site. Upon confronting them they said ‘it was non refundable’ and will make absolutely no concessions. So we are screwed out of almost $800. We also, want to mention that we originally paid almost $16, 000 for this package. An even after that, we still pay maintenance fees and pay reservation fees … which I must mention keep going up every year.

I just want to say Buyer Beware. This is not a good company to do any business with. It’s been nothing but grief and cost us big time! not only in dollars but in frustration So if you go to the Omni Cancun in Cancun, Mexico be prepared to say NO….. and run. Or if you encounter interval International at any other facility; you had best be advised that it is all the same rules and they will take all they can from you… that is what they do!

I have been with II for 12 years and we have had many wonderful vacations using their getaways and exchanges with just the two of us and with our family. You need to put in your request early ( I mean a year in advance) and you need to be flexible. If you want to exchange for a place in the summer, you are going to have a tough time as that is the most common vacation time for families with children. You just have to understand how it works. It is all about early planning and flexibility.

I agree. They bait and switch and everyone else gets the nice room. My maintenance fees went to 2100. per year I just got back from Mexico for a week. I could have booked a flight and a much nicer room with an online deal for $989.00. That just makes me ill. I hope they end up with legal problems like RCI.

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Failure to advise

I am a member of Interval International, and have been for years, as I own two timeshares. I thought that I had grown used to their poor customer service, but today takes the cake! I booked a vacation at a resort March 16, 2012. My confirmation certificate listed the amenities, one of which was an infinity pool. On June 28, 2012, the resort advised Interval International that the pool would be closed down for construction during the months of September and October! One would think that Interval would have advised those with reservations for that resort during that time period of this major change! Not so! Today, three days before I am due to fly out, I received a very rude call from MARK at Interval International "re-advising me that the pool is shut down and under construction." When I asked what he meant by re-advising, as this was the first I had been informed of this, he told me "Read your confirmation." When I asked to be transferred to a different resort he said there was nothing available. The Marriott Desk at II was of NO HELP! Finally someone in customer service gave me a lesser resort where I had stayed before, infested with roaches! What a choice, either roaches in the room, or no pool and noise at the resort! If I had been informed in June, I could have had some time to decide what to do. Cancelling would have cost me $1000 in airfare. Interval International is very unprofessional. I have been trying to get rid of the two timeshares I own, but can't even give them away, so I guess I am stuck with them for now. My warning: BEWARE!

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Scam

We joined interval international thinking we had a low cost means of vacations for the next few years.

As an incentive to join, we where given free certificates for 1 week of stay at other resorts in the interval group, and we where told that nightly rates could be as low as $120 per night at any resort of our choice.

In reality, when we tried to use our certificate, we couldn't as we where told that it was all of a sudden not applicable to this trip. Our hotel fees where $130 per person per night (huge difference).

Worst of all, we found out that Interval had added a clause in our contract which meant they will not refunds us for years we had prepaid in advance, meaning $10000 flushed down the toilet.

My warning to any properties interval customer, ...they are frauds!
Do not give them(or any other group like them) your money, or they will take it and then happily tell you to go to hell.

Be warned...

Interval International would not allow me to bank my points. I've been a member for years. I own in two resorts and they insist that I must have a separate membership for each resort or they simply will not use or bank my points. Now I have to start a new membership and it may take up to 4 weeks. If it takes that long, I may not be within the time frame required to bank my week. Then I am screwed either way. I turned right around to call them back, and couldn't get through on either phone number.

I do not understand these complaints at all. I am purchasing a timeshare which will includes I I. RCI has been a disappointment so I figured I'd try I I. Problem with all these complaints is NO ONE says what their Travel Demand Index is for their week, the lower the better. I asked straight out before buying if the Resort week I bought had an index number of 15 would I be able to stay at a Resort with a 14 or lower and was told "NO". (so I bought at a Resort with a number under 10)
Whenever I look up the locations of the Resorts of the people making these complaints (the few that mention location) they are high index numbers, like 35 or 50, some even higher. It's not I I that ripped you off. It is the person that sold you your timeshare because they did not explain how I I works.

Much of Florida if an index number of 30 or higher.

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com False information

I am a member of Interval International and I own a timeshare. I joined the timeshare company to ensure I had the option of exchanging for different locations to travel. Once we banked our week we had been informed by I.I that if we had not exchanged our week that we could just go to our home resort on our assigned week and there would not be a problem. Well were thery wrong! I arrived with my husband and 4 children at our home resort on our assigned week only to learn that we had no place to live for the week. We attempted to contact I.I and after 45m minutes of waiting to talk to someone l we were told that we were out of luck. We attempted to exchange our week at that point we were told that that they had nothing for us in the entire Orlando area and that it was unfortunate. The associate was very short with us and clearly did not care thar me and my husband along with 4 children came from Ohio and had nowhere to go. Fortunately the employees at my home resort worked with me and found me a condo. It did cost me $800.00 to rent something I already own. I feel that the was extremely unprofessional and deceiving on the part of I.I. .

Did you not call to confirm your place BEFORE you left?
Have you ever gone on vacation?

How about reading your agreement and rule section. Because you did not do your homework, and took the easy way out, you got stung. Shame on you. I hope your children grow up smarter than you.

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Rip off

Interval international is horrible horrible horrible. Run away from them as fast as you can. Their selections are horribly limited and they have all kinds of restrictions that they don't tell you about. They charge you $50 here and $100 there for every little kind of change or service. They lie lie lie. Their website is horrible. You search one way on one page and a different way on a different page. So stupid. I am too angry to go into details, but in the past three days, i have run into three of their lies about exchange possibilities. Arggggg

Please be more clear on the nickle and dime stuff. Write a real complaint so I get it. I have an RCI points timeshare and everywhere I go I get 80 dollar cleaning fees and MOST of the places are like a Motel 6 with a kitchen. If they take pets I pay another $80. It weems like RCI is adding the same fees you are talking about. I am switching to II but I don't see any fees according to their info if I have a Timeshare in a low travel Index location.

Please be more clear. You are not getting charged per word here.

Unfortunatly we made the mistake of "trading" our Spinnaker RCI Timeshare + $$$$$ to get what we were promised from II. That was the last of what we got, promises, emails, "We'll call you back" ...

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Lies, rip off

Enough is enough! Bank weeks with Interval International, pay to go on the "wait" list for accommodation to come up. Always told nothing available - no matter where we've tried going. But miraculously there are always extra get away exchanges weeks available if you PAY the extra dollars. No thank you! And upgrade - i don't think so. Why would you? Can't speak to supervisors, get hung up on. Can't even write to anyone. They just take your money, take your exchange weeks and give little if anything back. Penthouse unit with 2 bedrooms, and offered a studio at best. Absolute Rip Off! Despicable organisation.

II exchanges are based on your resorts Demand Index number. If you do not tell people what that is then your complaint is pointless. I am getting into II because RCI points system has been disappointing. Be more clear about the problem because all I am getting is you bought a timeshare at a bad location.

Your Travel Index number at your Resort must be under a 10.

I TOTALLY agree with you. I had my timeshare with Interval for years now and have over three trips in the bank and just yesterday tried to schedule a trip anywhere in the Carribbean. They told me the 'only two avialable trips they had were in Aruba and Santo Domingo and both hotels they had were dumps! Low and behold, they showed over fifty (50) available getaways to everywhere I wanted to go at 5 start hotels but I wouldn't be able to use my banked weeks for them. I'd have to pay extra.
I wonder if they can be reported to the BBB!

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Unwanted magazine add-on to exchange

We signed up for their timeshare exchange program. In the past they have delivered reasonable service. However, II has now added an extremely inconvenient, annoying policy of automatically selling you a magazine you probably don't want with your exchange. In order to get your money back you have to go through a refund process, mailing in documentation and wasting your time! Totally ridiculous! When I called to complain and ask that they put through my transaction without the extra fee and time-consuming steps, they told me I would have to talk to a manager on Monday! Who has time for this? This is NOT what I signed up for! This is not good service!

That sounds more like your Resort than and exchange company. Are you booking straight thru II or calling your Resorts agent?

Interval International / IntervalWorld.com Unable to exchange week

I am disappointed every time I try to exchange my deposited weeks only to find out every time that my vacation resort is "unavailable". I tried for the last three months to book a reservation, every I called I was told that it was too early and that I have to wait 59 days before the wanted vacation days start. When I finally call to make reservations they tell me that the resort is unavailable. This is the second time I have been told the same, and the first time I had to insist and all of a sudden something opened up.

I can't agree more interval really doesn't work in the owners favor. I have had interval for awhile now and I run into the same problem of not having the resort of choice available. Couple of years ago I was told I didn't make my reservation with enough time, this year I have put the request 7 months an advance and the same answer I get, nothing of my choice. I think it's a waist of money.

These complaints are not effective without posting your location or Travel Index number... so if you really have a timeshare be sure to update with your Travel index number.

Can't agree more. Interval Exchange is utterly useless. More often then not, they can not give an exchange for the deposit made in advance. Always stating there are a limited number of exchanges. But never a shortage of extra weeks one can "buy". And then to add to their total ineffectiveness, i am never able to do a like for like exchange. Penthouse and 3 bedroom unit deposits, i'm lucky if i get a 1 bedroom exchange back. A studio - forget it! I want out. I want my deposits back, i want my money back. DON'T join up. Stay away!
