Internal Revenue Service [IRS] Racism, Classism or Just An ###??

My daughter and I visited the local IRS office, here in Bloomington Indiana, today. We were unsure how to file, ( ie:head of household/single or separate). If I knew how to file, or had the money to pay a CPA, we would not have visited the office. For the past 3 years, I have had the same office help me to file our taxes. As a matter of fact, the same IRS representative worked with us each year. The first year, he was helpful, and approachable. He got us a great refund. The second (last year) time he worked with us, he was rude, angry and he quite possibly did not act in our best interest (I think he did not get us applicable full refunds). Today, our 3rd visit, was surreal it was so bad. Before we even sat in front of his desk, he was combative. He demanded to know what wanted. When I replied that we need help with our taxes, he said he wouldn't help both of us (my daughter and myself). It was back and forth for about 5 minutes, with him firing away at me, demanding what did I want, and me just saying, we came in for tax help because we are unsure how to file. After telling me he refused to work with me because I am upset, and we both (meaning he and I) need a chance to 'calm down', he kicked my daughter and I out of the office. He gave us an excel print out, saying maybe one of those agencies would be willing to work with us, because he doesnt have to work with people like us. WAIT...WHAT? We walked out of there shaking our heads, still not believing what just happened. This is a mean, dried up, crazy old guy who has no business being a social servant. In fact, he has no business dealing with the public at all. He behaved incorrigibly, and has completely inept customer service skills.
I know the IRS isnt supposed to be happy-go-lucky folks, but I can not figure why on earth he reacted to us in such a way. Was it because we were both female? Or Brown? Or in financial need? Whatever, I just wanted help with my taxes, not to be subjected to an angry bitter smelly old man's rants.

Well if you think that is bad try being a white female who is dealing with a black, female revenue officer. Now we are talking TRUE RACISM! Yes, there is lots of reverse discrimination and even harassment that is targeted to people just because they are white. This officer has harrassed the hell out of me, unlike yours who was just rude. Please, give me a break, I wish I could find one that was just rude not racist...lets trade and then you will how bad it truly is. Drop the chip on your shoulder and stop being dramatic.

Internal Revenue Service [IRS] Ordering tax return transcript

I have been chosen for financial aid verification through my college. I need to submit an IRS Tax Return Transcript. The IRS says I should be able to order this through their website or by automated phone. When I fill out the request via website, I constantly get the error that my address does not match their records. I have lived an filed my tax return from the same address for 16 years! I then tried to order by phone and after going through the whole process, I get the message that 2011 tax transcripts are not available. I have also left messages with my local IRS office about this issue.
I'm not sure where to go from here. I am on a time constraint to get these papers to my college financial aid office. The new rules do not allow a copy of my tax return. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Think your tax guy knows what he's doing? Better be sure. The Internal Revenue Service warns that tax preparers who intentionally cut corners, or are downright incompetent, can land clients in hot water, as well as cost them a bundle. How do you separate qualified preparers from scammers? The IRS has lots of information on its Web site, and Bank rate’s article "Checking out your tax preparer" can help, too.

Internal Revenue Service [IRS] IRS harrassment of a small business trying to make us pay the same taxes twice

Tax returns. You must file a quarterly employer return, Form 941, Employer’s Quarterly Federal Tax Return, with the federal government to report income tax withholding and FICA payments. Small employers who pay less than $1, 000 a year in employment taxes may be able to instead file Form 944, Employer’s Annual Federal Tax Return once a year—the IRS must notify you of your eligibility for this.

We paid our taxes on form 941 in 2008 now the IRS is harrassing us saying we have to pay those same taxes on form 944. They insist we owe them taxes because we (our CPA) who is very experienced filed the wrong tax form only we didn't! They continue to send us the same tax bill for the same amount we paid on form 941 only now they are adding interest and penalties. The IRS is trying to take over $11, 000 dollars from us including penalties and interest! Read what the requirements for a 944 is! You must pay LESS THAN $1000.00 a year in employment taxes to file on a 944! Can anyone tell me if over 10, 000 dollars WE PAID IN FULL is LESS THAN $1, 000.00? A lady from the IRS came and talked to our CPA. She said we didn't actually owe any taxes that it was an IRS mistake but they would continue to bill us because they couldn't get it out of their system until the first of the new year. Our CPA has talked to them we have shown we don't owe the taxes and yet they keep sending us a tax bill.

Internal Revenue Service [IRS] Refund

My husband died in 97 and In August 09 I refinanced my home in my name, previously it was in my husbands name, he was the primary borrower and I was the co-borrower. I applied for the tax incentive refund and after being jerked around and lied to numerous times and sending my information in in triplicate 5 seperate times I am still waiting. the last 3 times I got smart and sent it registered. Every time they, tell me a different lie and tell me I have to wait 45-90 days. The IRS is full of it, they think I will just roll over and forget it. I don't care if it takes 20 years I am going to keep persuing it.

Internal Revenue Service [IRS] 1st time buyer tax credit

I recently bought a home in oct of 09, sent in all required paper work as per a gentleman at the irs hotline, and waited for 4 months before getting a letter stating that they needed more info. In feb 10 sent more info. In mar was informed i was being audited and would hear from them within 30 - 60 days. Was very upset. In may of 10 i was fully denied my tax credit of $8000. 00.
Called irs and talked to a lady who after looking at all avail doc's couldn't see the reason for the denial. She could not do anything as it needed to go back to the originating auditor. She wrote up a note informing the auditor of the mistake with my info and i am now still waiting for any response. I fear that the only response i will get will be in letter form in the mail with the 30 - 60 day we will respond. I bought a home with the intention of using that tax credit to fix up house and pay back borrowed personal loans that were required to put down payment. This tax credit is getting to a point where the average person will have to wait approx a year before getting the tax credit. Not at all what i was expecting from the advertising pushes for everyone to go out and buy a home.

The irs did an audit on me back in 2017. , i did not recive my tax refund for that year that was about $ 2800. 00 they said that i was single, , and did not have a child, they took the head of household credit and the child income credit away. I send them prove and everthing they ask for. , ! School records, / birth certificates of my child / bills with my name on them, to show that i was the head of household. ! This went on for 5 more years, never recived a dime from them. !, i have filed my taxs forms the same way each year to this day i still file the same way i did back in 2017 they have kept my money if i caculated all my money that was due to me through out those years it would be about 25, 000. 00 dollars. ! One check that i remeber was for $4800. 00 they kept that one too. Till the year 2017 is when i started to recive my refunds. , my tax preparer did what she could, i even went to the main tax office. I could not beat them, and i gave up,. ! Its probally to late for me to do anything anymore,. ! I still think that money is due to me. ! And for the gov. To come around and take my money, that i worked so hard for all these years, is not fair at all. ! I hate to say this! Uncle sam has rip me off ! And i think he should pay me back plus interest. ! What do you think?

I've been trying to get this move/up repeat buyer tax credit. I built our new home myself. Therefore no contract. Had all permits and sent the copies to I R S w/ 5405.There was a completion date and a letter by the county showing such, with values and an explanation that this county does not issue a certificate of occupancy per say. I built this place myself with my own money(no mortgage). They've sent three letters so far denying our claim and asking for the same info each time. I guess nobody ever really reads the letters we send. This time I have 15 days to appeal their decision. Need some good advice to get this back on track.

I bought my home in May 2017 and filed my taxes late just to include the homebuyer credit with it. So, I filed my 1040 and Homebuyer credit and a few weeks later I got a letter saying I owed them money. I sent a check in and they cashed it. I called and asked the status of my Homebuyer credit and they said they never received it. WHATEVER! So, I mailed it again and it didn't reach them until Aug'10. I called in Nov'10 and this lady said I should receive a letter because they have questions. I never received the letter and called Dec'10. This lady said there was never a problem and it's still being processed. I called later that month (because everytime I call they say something different) and I told this person that I've waited my 16 weeks and where is it? She said "oh, someone from that dept. has to call you or send a letter...do not call back until 30 days". As of Wednesday, it's been 30 days and I haven't heard a peep. I am so disgusted with IRS. They were uick to bail out the banks, but can't give us the money they promised. UGH! It's been 8 months since I filed my original Homebuyer credit and counting...

I also closed on my house in May 2017...brought my information to my account same day and file my amended taxes. August i received a letter stating i didn't sign a page. i sent signature back in August and called every week since...this is the 18th week since they received my signature and the best responce i received from anyone was they are still reviewing it. funny how if you owned the I.R.S over 8000.00 they would sent a man in a gucci suit to seize all your assets but they best i got so far was studdering Steve who doesn't understand the difference between a pen and pencil! This first time buyer rebate is a the biggest lie. Someone needs to refund our money back now and stop this.

Same here... Purchased home in May 2017, so far have received two letters saying they are processing and will let me know in 30 days. My most recent call to the IRS was a joke! The person I spoke to put me on hold several times (I'm sure she was filing her nails or eating snacks.), finally comes back to the phone and acts confused like she doesn't know what's going on! Then asks that I call another number and extension for more information. This is pitiful! IRS should pay us interest on our $8000 for holding it so long! 7 months and still nothing!
Mr. Obama, your First-Time Buyer rebate is a crock of bull!

Us too. Bought new home 11/2017. Was qualifed for the $6500. Filed annual taxes in Feb 2017. Got Federal tax back but never home tax credit as promised. Began the letter cycle of "please submit, this and that"..Called monthly, on hold for 45mins to be told "its being processed". Was told due to the amount of paper work that I sent in, it appeared we were filing a duplicate refund therefore flagged as FRAUD! I was given an invesgigator, who you cant reach. Continued to call and STILL NOTHING! I too had planned to stimulate the economny with my money to buy furniture and privacy fence. And family vacation which was not taken due to limited funds. I give up! My husband is going to our congressman to put some pressure on them. IRS if you say your gonna help the people then PAY UP or shut up!

The IRS was given broad license this Spring by the Fed to eliminate as many, any legitimate tax filer claimants, regardless. The Gov doesn't have the money and has started a SECOND rebate program, intentionally NOT investigating the FRAUD IN THE IRS, let alone paying out filers in full for the past two years.
Get a broad based tax specialist lawyer, sue for your rebate, the interest, the legal fees and any special damages. Keep on posting what the IRS does in their 'any' efforts to block your refunds.
Typical denial letters sent to many of us(I've read online extensively) that are common include preludes of denial such as "we don't have your current address"(but SOMEHOW the letter got mailed to where you live?); you owned a home previously(yeh, back in the 1980's-I'm still scratching my head over that one!).
Persist, put the PRESSURE on IRS, and give their mal-intented 'program' the works.
IRS=DEFRAUDULENT, UNBUSINESS LIKE 'SERVICE'!

Internal Revenue Service [IRS] Rebate-First Time Home Buyer

I applied for the first time home buyers rebate in May, 2009. About 2 months later I got a letter in the mail requesting a signature. I sent that back and have heard nothing from them since. I called them about 45 days ago and they said that I was being audited and that they had 45 days to inform me of this...I have heard absolutely nothing! This home buyer rebate should be researched...they are trying to hold money from me...probably from others, yet the advertising out there is vast in an attempt to get people to buy homes. I bought my home almost a year ago with the belief that this rebate would replace my outdated heating system, unfortunately, the cold weather has come long before my rebate and I have had to use all my savings to heat this older home. I think this rebate is a hype...

These folks are nothing but thieves. We had one check that was garnisheed. Then the IRS garnisheed our second income and seized our accounts.. Which by law per the IRS it was illegal to to do that on the employment income. It was THE IRS who made the mistake and Harris did nothing. We had no income at all. WE CALLED THE IRS AND GOT ONE OF THE ACTIONS RELEASED SO WE COULD HAVE some income to survive. After Harris did NOTHING. Harris people dont know the law themselves. They are nothing but CETA gradautes and affirmative action "sucess" stories. We began this process back in Nov of 09 and to this month MAR NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE IN A POSITIVE MANNER or resloved. Harris blames their failures on the IRS but takes your money. I see that ad on the TV and I want to throw up, its called projectile vommitting. This business is a skid mark of society and if the people they employ are ex IRS ###s, then you know why the country is becoming a cess pool of human excrement. The toilet in the WH is where the flush is coming from.

In August I purchased my First time New Home Services Through a Very Nice Agent From Nashville Tn, (Jamayne J. Hall) I have never had Home services in my name, so after just having moved into my first new home in Greensboro I accepted the services because I had intended to do so anyway but hadnt had the time. Being that my home was completely cable and all wiring accessory ready The service ReP. (Jamayne Hall)offer me features that I told him I needed for the first time of having services with bill accessory for my budget. He was so nice and set everything up for me over the phone even offer me bundled packages which would be with my 6year cell phone services but I declined at the time due to income. A date was set and verified for services to be done on Sept.2.On Sept.2 I and my sister whom purchased services at that date also called our local At&T service Dept. And was told that the set up was not done due to the fact that the Alabama Department needed vertification for their records, We both gave this info. along with contact numbers and this was vertified from a clerk to a manager that got on the line to vertified socials and names etc..At that point another connection date was set for both of us for the 10th of sept.we were told someone need to be home.On the 10th no one showed up by 2:30pm. We called and was told that the phones would be on by midnight that night, Sept.11 8:00am Still no services. Called Alabama At&T Service Dept. And Was told by a Ms. MCCalluay? that their servicemen had noted that my 911 address was not correct and that my street address was a mistaken problem with our local 911 dept. I called or city call 911 dept. and was told that my address (along with my sisters address whom was told the same thing)were correct and that there was never a mix on the addresses and they wanted to know how did AT&T servicemen get that info.So I called At&t again and things just got worst and the rudeness began. So to sum all this up I could not get anywhere with them. They were not concerned with me getting service or not. So to make a long disappointment short. we cancelled and this may be the last time I ever do service with AT&T and I will Definitely make sure that CHANGE MY LONg TIME MANY CELL PHONE ACCOUNTS WITH AT&T. IF MY HOME SERVICES IS NOT APPRECIATED THEN MY CELL SERVICES IS NOT APPRECIATED EITHER. AS SOON AS I CAN GET THIS DONE AT&T WILL NOT HAVE TO TREAT ME WITH THEIR RUDENESS.

Internal Revenue Service [IRS] Stimulus rebate ridiculous

Very surprised to find that I'm not eligible for this rebate and this is simply because I filed joint tax return instead of separately. First I must make it clear that I'm a married permanent US resident with two kids born in US. I would have received $1200 return if I had filed separately my 2007 tax return by claiming two kids as dependents. Unfortunately because I included my wife, who has a ITIN, in the joint tax return form and according to IRS ridiculous rule, I was excluded from the rebate [because they filed jointly and one of them does not have a valid Social Security number]. This is not a stimulus plan, it's a punishment plan for many families like mine.

I am 22 and just graduated college . I managed to work full-time, go to school and pay for my car, insurance, ect...

I decided to live with my parent to save money while I was in college. Because I was a student and living with my parents I was filed as a dependant and will not receve a stimulus check even though I made well over the required rate. When I look at the other people and other situation where a check is recieved, I feel denied my hard earned money. For example, someone who is uneducated, economicly unstimulating, and living of unemployment barly made $3, 000 a year will recieve a stimulus check. But a college student who lives at home will not. Receving the stimulus check would help me and other students pay for student loans, which would actually help stabalize the economy.

My husband and I are both legal citizens and qualified for the stimulus rebate. Guess who got it, though? His ex-wife. She already collects a huge monthly check from him, plus we carry medical insurance for their children that we can't afford, while she doesn't pay anything, and her husband makes more in a month than I make in a year, but hey, the government thought she needed the money more than us. How is that supposed to encourage us to spend?

About that Economic Stimulus check

When Our President pushed for every American to receive an economic stimulus rebate check he lied, but hey, where is the surprise in that! Our President made the address and statement encouraging everyone to file for their 2007 federal income taxes to be eligible to receive their stimulus rebate check and the media then followed up to reaffirm the announcement. However this has turned out to be not so true especially for those whom had collected unemployment in 2007. I call this the Un-fair act or should I say Bush whacked because even though Congress approved it is still George W Bush who signed it. I made just under 8, 000 for 2007 but because I collected and went through my unemployment benefits which was just over $5, 000 I am being told that I am not eligible according to the IRS and Congress and this information was discovered after I contacted Representative Tim Mahoney’s office and spoke to his constituent liaison in Port Charlotte who had me fax my taxes to him through a release authorization, who’s office put me in touch with an IRS advocacy group who in turn investigated the circumstances. And finally it was Kathleen Mulgrave of the IRS advocacy group who contacted me with the information and unfortunately she didn’t offer any suggestions. I again spoke to Jay Malsky the Constituent Liaison for Congressman Tim Mohoney whom I pushed into giving me an email link http://www.thomas.gov/ and phrases to research information “economic stimulus payment” or “economic stimulus act”.
However after going to the site and typing in the information given I discovered why so many people might become frustrated with the system itself and give up trying to fight back. Because when they are given links from the organization that presumably are trying to help them the information they find can only be read by lawyers because of the way it is outlined, talk about Holy Manipulation.
I then contacted someone I am familiar with at the Charlotte County Behavioral Health Center. She told me that she has clients that have collected all of their unemployment benefits and have received their stimulus check.
I am being penalized on a bogus excuse relating to my unemployment

I think its a bunch of bull. Like a car dealership. "You could get payments as low as 88 dollars a month!" But you go waste you time for it to be something like 300 dollars a month. The government should have cut the crap and been like "Youll get 300 a person. You could get more depending on hoe much taxes you paid last year." Instead of "Yeah! youll get 600 dollars!" I dont know of anybody that actually got 600 dollars myself.

You use bad logic. Not everyone who is "uneducated" is economically unstimulating. School is for some but you live at home. My father is "uneducated" but is also worth 4 million investing in real estate and never went to college. The school thing is often a fallacy. Unl;ess your becoming a medical doctor or nurse or teacher dream on about being better then us...

Internal Revenue Service [IRS] Surplus checks

My refund was mailed to my home address as I was having trouble with a bank. I called the IRS national hotline telling them I'll be out of town in May/June when the surplus checks are mailed out and with financial information on hand I asked if I could do a Direct Deposit to my new bank account. They said "no" so they would rather have my lose my check or have it stolen then show some compassion.
