I recieved my phone bill with an added surprise...two collect calls to the tune of 61.76 + taxes. The calls were 3min. and 5 mins. respectively. When I recovered enough to speak, I called my local carrier. The customer service gentleman( with a "OMG ! NOT AGAIN quiver in his voice) gave me the number for INTELLICALL'S billing service. Who, did not have a phone number for INTELLICALL. So after two calls to the billing company and a chat with a supervisor I was able to "somewhat" remedy the situation.
How do these corporations get away with charging extremely outragous fees for collect calls?
My local carrier told me that the FCC DOES NOT regulate these companies BUT, they do however hit you with a surcharge. Surely there's a way to put an end to this abuse.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
DUDE HAS ANYONE HAD ANY LUCK GETTING THESE CALLS CREDITED BACK? i GOT HIT FOR $221, 00 THEY POSTED 6 CALLS ALL 3 MIN OR 6 MIN AND ONE 9 MIN IN ONCE DAY 0 MINUTES OF EACH OTHER. I CANT BEGIN TO EXPRESS MY FRUSTRATION AS I DONT EVER ACCEPT THESE CALLS NOR DO I RECALL REFUSING ANY CALLS THAT DAY. HELP!
These Intellicall Ops Svcs THIEVES nailed us $31.33 for 3 minutes! My sister's in the hospital, what am I suppose to do, refuse the call? I'm ### in writing to the hospital, that's all I can do...
My son in Portland loses his phone, calls me up due to a bit of an emergency, calls three times in one day to get something straightened out–for those calls, he calls me collect. I think he said it was “1 800 Collect”. Used to be–no, not all THAT long ago–that if you called collect the one accepting the call paid pretty much what you’d pay for a regular long distance call at regular rates. Maybe a small surcharge. My son and I assumed it would be not much more than regular rates. These three relatively brief calls which should have cost at most $35, tops, cost us $157. Apparently you can’t call COLLECT from a pay phone anymore except through one of these third party services. This one was, by the way, listed on the bill as INTELLICALL services. (Be sure you don’t use these crooks!) They did NOT warn me when I was asked if I’d accept the call that it would be many times the normal charge; they did NOT warn me about the many large surcharges attached. They simply asked if I’d accept the call. They’re probably breaking some regulations but who’s going to enforce them?
i'm dealing with exactly the same thing.mine was $126.34! for two collect calls of $47.50 each which i never rccvd or authorized. AT&T says there is nothing they can do about it. they say i have to write to the FCC - who the hell has time to chase that up? and who the hell would u complain to their anyway? AT&T said they put the amount on hold but after 30 dyas had to release it. so currently its been paid or ATT would disconnect my phone service!
there is no live human available to speak to at INTELLICALL OPS SVCS. this is fraud. its basically a faceless way of puttting a gun in your face and taking your money without any legal recourse. here's how it appeared on my at&t bill.
