Intelius charges to credit card for 24 protect plus

I noticed charges on my credit card from 24 Protect Plus for $14.95. I called 24ProtectPlus and they informed me that Intellius authorized them to charge my credit card. I don't even know what this service is. 24ProtectPlus agreed to refund. I'll wait and see. I had to cancel my credit card because of this. Complete scam!

This happened to me as well. Only I was hospitalized soon after was sick for months and didn't notice the charges til much later. I was billed 139.65 and was only refunded 39.90.

Even if you received all or part of your money back, If this has happened to you go to gthe better business bureau for western Washington: alaskaoregonwesternwashington . bbb . org go to the consumers link and file a complaint. If there are enough complaints maybe some good can be done.

Intelius bogus charges

First, a mysterious charge of 19.95. Then a credit for 19.95. Then ANOTHER charge for 19.95 then another credit. Then YET ANOTHER charge for 19.95. Result: three charges, two credits. This company--Intelius--will not stop until they wear out all of us--and we now number over a hundred. And to think they're owned by Equifax, who monitors our internet security! Beware of Intelius.

Intelius no refund

I purchased an online phone report from Intelius on 6/20/08 for a price of $4.96. When I received my receipt online, I was charged a total of $9.90. When I called Intelius customer service, I was told 3 times that the extra charge was an error of their online program. When I asked for my $4.94 back as it was Intelius's error, I was told that Intelius does not give refunds. I explained that if it was Intelius's error it would not be considered a refund. The customer service person repeated 3 more times that Intelius does not give refunds. I called Intelius back thinking I was dealing with an unhelpful person, but no, the second person repeated the same "no refund" line.

Intelius Inc is involved in a systematic consumer fraud. These guys sign you up (without your permission) for some protection plan and then start billing you $19.95 per month.

After I called then twice, they gave me reference numbers, promised to disable my account, and continued to charge my credit card. I am not only only person who has been fraudulently charged by these guys. If you search through google, I found hundreds of complaints by consumers who have been scammed in a very similar way.

Everyone reading this complaint needs to also file complaints through Better Business Bureau and Federal Trade Commission's Consumer Protection Agency. There should be Department of Justice enquiry against the CEO of this company and someone needs to go to jail.

Enough is enough.

I ordered a People Search Report in the amount of $1.95 and was subsequently signed up for a People Search Membership and my credit card was charged $19.95. I submitted a complaint online and was sent a link to cancel my membership. Once I did this there was a $19.95 credit that showed up on my account. I will never use the services of this online company ever again. For anyone that is looking to utilize a People Search Service use another service and save yourself the hassle of dealing with this Company.

Intelius - scam and fraud

After running a $9.95 address/phone search (one time charge), i find six months later I've been paying $19.95 monthly for "home Protection services by Intellius." 1. shame on me for paying bills this carelessly. 2. This organization is all over the web with charges of fraud and somehow managing, in a smarmy fashion, to initiate this monthly billing. I plan...

wow, i checked my account that i use to charge for things. I check everyday this account for anything that could be wrong. I seen this pending today and acted on it in seconds.

INT*INTELIUS SB [protected] WAUS

They removed because it was pending. And usually works for anything trial that you were unaware of and is in pending status.

I read some people let stuff like this sit on their charge account for days and months.
What kind of dip wick brain would you have, to have a charge account, and be running around online charging stuff and you are not monitoring daily. You sound like you like to play russian roulette alot. I laughed my [censor] off when i heard you guys screaming fraud and i'm taking it to the US supreme court, ect. That is as funny as hell.

You all just got too much money... For real.
How about donating some bucks over in my direction. Plus you should really work for less money.. seriously. : )

Had 2 charges from Int*idprotect Mntr Svc [protected] charged to my Visa account.
I DID NOT authorize these charges, what gives these people the right to assume you
want a service, you didn't even ask for ? Visa cancelled the card, as the only way to
stop these people. Same thing happened on another account this month, some IDenity
Service making charges to that account.
Wish there were laws against this, but the way that our Government tries to run us, ha ha...
Its only going to get worse..

Ditto here. Paid for a one time look up of a number with no intent to subscribe. $19.95 shows up on the cc bill. Intelius customer rep rudely refuses to refund. Guess what? Let them fight with Discover for a couple of months because I have officially disputed the charges. Discover rep said Intelius would have to provide computer records proving we clicked on that option. I asked the Discover rep a question. Since I am disputing the operating ethics of Intelius, even if Intelius does send a print out of an alleged computer audit trail, how does Discover know that Intelius hasn't falsified the portion of the file that purports to show I clicked on a subscription block? The Discover rep had no answer to that one. After all, if they are disreputable enough to falsify a subscription, how much would it bend their morals to edit the evidence they are being required to provide to Discover? Catch-22. If they provide such a document to Discover, it is my position that Intelius forged it. I may lose, but by God I'm going to make them work for their stolen money.

just got my credit card statement. Got this int*protect mntr svc for $19.95 and another charge for twenty4proplu107052847 in the amount of $24.95 that must be the same company because the posts i've just read mention it.

as i sit here writing them i am on hold (working up to 10 minutes) with int*protect mntr svc. my questins for them are: who are they, who authorized this charge because it certainly wasn't me, the full refund will happen when.

regardless i will be sending copies of my letter to the credit card company to my local consumer protection department of the district attorney, kansas secretary of state, and, of course, the ftc.

these two charges put me in an overlimit situation as well.

what i'd like to know is why governmental agencies wait to do anything about these kinds of companies when they've been given the information at least once. it's like our union stewards: only one complaint so they do nothing until, and if, they get a second complaint.

I am outraged, of course my mother told me I could find my bio dad at this website I read the terms and it said I would only be charged $1.95USD for my search, it did not say anything about signing up with them for a $19.95 subscription. I tried to call and was waiting for well over 20 minutes until I finally hung up. I called again and it continued to ring and no one ever picked up. I will be filing a dispute with my bank. I will make sure to watch out for scam bull S*@! like this from now on.

Called [protected] spoke to Brian. He was very rude. Told me I agreed to the 19.95 subscription on 3 different screens. Then went on to tell me that it was like going to a store and saying hoops I didn't mean to buy this. WTF?
I asked to speak to the supervisor and he said there is no reason to speak to her. After I told him I would report him to his supervisor he said he would connect me. After holding for a few minutes he comes back and says the charge will be removed.

Looked at my credit card statement and didn't know what the 19.95 charge was for or from. I put the credit card ID (I guess their phone number) in google and this was the first site that came up. That is pretty sad.

Intelius unauthorized charges

This company has been making unauthorized charges on my credit card. They harged my account numerous times, in Jan, April and June 2008 for a subscription service I did not order or authorize. Total loss $66.00. Intelius does not have customer service personel to respond to my omplaints, so I disputed the charges with my credit card company.
You may call Customer Service at [protected]
(Monday-Friday 6:30am - 4:30pm PST)

This company is a fraud and they are scamming the general public of most likely millions of dollars. Where is the US Attorney General? Shut down this company! File a class action lawsuit against INTELIUS.COM !

We found two charges from this company on our charge card in March 2008 that we did not authorize. Apparently there is something with this company going on that when the charges were put on, our credit card company put on a fraud alert and have temporarily shut down our card. So beware. This is supposed to be some kind of people information service, does background checks, etc. But I wouldn't use them.

Intelius.com has been charging my account 19.95 for the past 4 months when I never authorized them to charge anything. I have never even heard of intelius.com until I recently went thru my bank statement. Their supervisor refused to credit back the 4 months of charges even though they could clearly see that I had never accessed such an account. They're ripping customers off and taking our money without us even knowing about it. They've offered to credit back a month of the service, even though they've already taken $80 bucks from me without authorization. GRRRR! How do companies with unjust practices stay in business? Boycott Intelius.com and watch your bank statements for fraudulent charges near you!

It's January 2011 and this company is STILL doing this! I just canceled my credit card with Chase because of these people! I used them for a people search ONCE last year and apparently they've been charging me $19.95 a month Plus $.99 to see if my credit card was active. Thankfully this was caught within a month of them starting it!

I ordered one search and thought I was being billed $5.95. The search I did pay for was not helpful at all and I ended up locating the information I needed on my own using some local phone books/records. About a week later I noticed two charges on my bank statement for $19.95.

I called the customer service number and they indicated that one $19.95 charge was a package deal that allowed me to conduct 25 more searches and the other $19.95 charge was for an identity protection service. I did not realize I had signed up for either service and the customer service rep did indicate that they would drop my service and reimburse me these amounts. Although I was thankful that they responded and agreed to take care of this ASAP, I believe that their intent is to hope that you won't notice these additional fees and unknowingly sign-up for these package "deals".

I did enroll in on service with this company and cancelled right after the information I wanted was found. They activated my account without my permission and have taken two more charges from my bank acccount. I don't know what to do. I hate to close the account, but if they do not credit back these latest two bogus charges I am going to do just that and report them to the Better Business Bureau. Their business practices are dishonest and misleading.

Intelius mix up on charges

I waited to speak to customer relations of company so long, I went to sleep, was 20 minutes and did not get response.
I recalled and waited another 20 minutes and did not get a response.
I was charged $57.90 for a report for persons address and phone number. was led to believe that I could get current address and phone number, although I already had address of person. I was charged $19.95 for report I asked for, then either by my misunderstanding or wording by company I was charged $57.90 for report I did not need.
Please refund $57.90 on my credit card am/ex was charged on 06/01/08.

My complaint is that I have been charged for this service without being aware of having it. I want the current charge of 19.95 and previous ones removed from my account. I will go to BBB immediately if not done. I'm sure I am not the only one upset. Your service I used one time -never ordered anything and have been charged 19.95 for nothing... Its useless to call noone ever answers anytime. I have a good lawyer who'd love to take care of this for me.

Intelius fraud and scam!

I did an email search on intelius for $9.95. one month later I checked my credit card statement and there was the $9.95 charge from intelius and another charge for $19.95 from pmidentity (privacy maters) that is affiliated with intelius and was not authorized by me. I called them both up and they basically told me I was screwed because I approved these which I did not.

* I in turn called my credit card company and disputed both charges since I feel intelius was not fair and got a credit for both of these charges. *

they might give you a hard time but they will not argue with your credit card company or bank.

If you have this problem here are some numbers to complain.

Intelius wrong info

I received a mysterious phone call from a woman telling me my name and wifes name found in a wallet and that she had my cell and home phone #. Both Correct. she asked if we knew a certain person. I asked who she was but she said her name was not important. Bells started going off. I went to do a reverse phone number on white pages came up as a land line. I made a mistake here went to Intelius the info they gave me was totally bogus. Card was charged the $4.95 . (Bank will reverse if you complain) . Still pending . I tried to get into my now viable Intelius account and they had no record of it. I sent an email no replay They promised two coupons of $5.00 a piece in email of course no email no coupons rebate coupons. Finally today I called talked to Mark 11 asked for a refund he refunded the charge readily enough saying the service did not in fact give me the requested info. Verizon said it was a land line Intelius reported it as a cell phone. While on hold I cam upon this site and read they were also charging for a identity theft protection service I had supposedly clicked on. I did not. $19.95 a month. He said it was explained in the email I never got Spam filtered mail was checked through nothing there either. Besides per the system I did not exist. Mark 11 the rep there advised me of this I told him I did not want this charge and would not pay it and dispute it should it come on my account. Mark 11 advised I would not be charged. So In this case they at least paid lip service as to the fact that the $4.95 charge would be refunded and I would not be charged the identity theft service I had not asked for.The hold time was only 30 minutes . He asked if I wanted to close the account I informed him as yes, then called my bank to let them know of the ordeal. Advise do not come to this Site. 1. Any site that puts charges on your account without your prior knowledge is not a mistake but theft. the information is usually old or bogus by his own admission it could be two years old or so or just wrong if the number had been a prepaid cell or a new cell number.2. No way to trace but they charge you anyway. 3 no email confirmation sent at all. 4. no way to verify my information on line. bottom Line STAY AWAY. Tehy were pleasant to speak with but smiled and spoke positively to me to inform me that I had signed up for a monthly identity theft program to be billed monthly. contact BBB, Contact states attorney generals office. May not do anything to them but will add to a data base of complaints against them.

Intelius dont' waste your money

My experience is similar to other reviewers. I gave them a social security number, and they gave me a worthless report consisting mainly of people who happen to have a similar name to the person for whom I was searching.

I filled out their email form to register a complaint, but never received a response.

Another nice touch is that they will try to get you to sign up for some identity theft protection service, and they make this service look like its part of the registration process. It's not.

This was a complete waste of fifty dollars.

Intelius fraud/identity theft

I paid $22.95 for a background check for my husband which provided me with no information. After I paid them there were 3 fraudulent charges made to my card. I cancelled my card with my bank and when I spoke to a representative at Intelius she was very rude and hung up on me. A few minutes later my phone rang and I recognized the voice as being the customer service rep. I dealt with and she told me "You better watch your back b**** because I know where you live"Don't ever use this unreputable co.!

I was ripped of by Intelius too. Months ago I foolishly used this company to look up a high school friend (never did get any info on her). it cost .95 to do the look-up. Okay, fine. Now I realize I have been charged 19.95 a month for what? I have no idea. I never signed up for anything. Lying cheats! Haveto get a new check card. Sad that these scam artists have control of banks. WTF?

On the 13th of April I went to Intelius to help me find relatives and was charged $49.99 twice. I did not order that amount even once. I wrote to you stating my complaint and was told I would have my money returned to my account in 7 days. the seven days have come and gone and I am out $100.00. I am on a fixed income and because of your inconsideration I now have checks bouncing around that I cannot pay let alone the overdraft price. If you have any compassion at all you would return my money to my account. PLEASE help me. Thank you, Penny Luccketta

Intelius they're a rip off

I signed up with Intelius to do a reverse phone lookup. It said the number was listed in their service, and for $4.95 I could read the information.

Once I put in my card information, I was automatically charged $9.90 and could not back out of the deal. When I tried, it automatically went into another service of theirs for identity theft protection. It took a lot of tries to back out of this page.

Then I got an email saying it would take 48 hours to get the phone # information. I called my bank, and they said I could file a claim against the company, but would have little chance of getting my money back.

Don't use Intelius! They're a rip off!

Yes they have ripped me off. I went there payed $.95 then was charged $4.46 got nothing and found out I was charged $19.95 on 2/5 another $19.95 on 2/8 then another 0n 3/5, 3/8, and now 4/2, 4/3. I called several times even got a confirmation number still charged. Now I have a refund for 2 $19.95 charges but it seems I will have to fight for the rest of my money. I called and canceled in February, March and now twice in April.
I have had to cancel my card so no more charges can be debited from my account.

THEY ARE TOTALLY A RIP OFF! DON'T U EVER GO THERE LOOK FOR PEOPLE'S INFORMATION. THEY JUST WANT TO MAKE MONEY RIPPING OFF AND PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION THAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR.
THEIR WEBSITE IS A SHAM! THEY DON'T DO ANYTHING AND STEAL MONEY FROM YOUR CREDIT CARD BECAUSE THEY NEVER GIVE YOU A REFUND EVENTHOUGHT U R NOT COMPLETYLE SATISFY WITH THE SERVICE THEY PROVIDE.
CUSTOMER SERVICE PPL TRAINED WELL TALKING VERY SMOOTHLY AND CLEVER NOT TO GIVE YOUR MONEY BACK.
THEY KEPT SAYING NO REFUND WHAT SO EVER AND OFFER ANOTHER FREE SEARCH FOR NOT GIVING MONEY BACK. HE SAID THAT'S THE ONLY THING THEY COULD OFFER EXCEPT MONEY BACK. BUT
WHY SHOULD i WASTING MY PRECIOUS TIME TO SEARCH FOR OTHER PPL'S INFO FROM THEM WHICH i DON'T EVEN SATISFY WITH THEIR SERVICE? i CAN IMAGINE THERE SHOULD BE MANY PPL GOT RIPPED OFF FROM INTELIUSL.COM AND GOT MAD AND WALK AWAY WITH 0% SATISFACTION.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM EVEN IF IT IS CHEAP $0.95 SERVICE! IT JUST GONNA MAKE YOU TO PURCHASE ANOTHER ONE FOR NO USE.

Whenever you purchase ANYTHING from Intelius, they automatically enroll you in their "identity protection" service for $19.95 a month, and they never even tell you that you have agreed to it. This service consists of-literally-nothing and is just meant to rob you of $20 a month until you notice it. Do not use Intelius!

I agreed to pay $2.95 to find an address, never got it and later found out I had been paying $19.95 a month for an Identity Protection (that I could have gotten for $7.95) for 4 months! I don't even remember agreeing to this service. When I called them (from the number off my credit card statement) they removed one month and cancelled my service, but they still "robbed me" for 60 bucks! That's stealing without a gun! Avoid Intelius at all costs.

I wanted a reverse lookup of a Verizon landline # in NJ. They sent me name and address of some shmoe in Ohio. Went to 411.com and they had the right information (no info no charge). Fact is they will just make up garbage and charge you for it if they don't have the info. And they rarely if ever have any info. They refused to refund. They are 100% rip-off. Dispute ongoing.

Intelius unauthorized charges!

A company I dealt with online (intelius.com), somehow scammed me into buying a service from ap9
Privacy matters outfit.http://privacymattersid.privacymatters-program.com/

They charged me $19.95 for a service I never heard of, never authorized. the woman I spoke to at ap9, carla, said that intelius does this to try to get new customers for her company... she is sorry and they will credit my account $19.95 within 2 business days.

Do not use intelius for people searches. they are scammers!

There were five unauthorized charges to my account within 30 days period totalling to more than $100.00 .

I do not know what kind of 24-hour credit monitoring they have but when I tried to call, I was not able to reach a single live person. I spent countless hours for a whole month trying to cancel my subsription by emailing and calling, but was unsuccessful. After a month of unsuccessful attempts to resolve the issues, I finally switch my tactics to getting in touch with AP9 privacy matters, the name of the company that was charging my account to cancel my accounts andwas lucky enough to get my money back.

It was a very unpleasant experience since they offer no explaination as to what happens or apologize for making unauthorized charges. INTELIUS/AP9 PRIVACY MATTERS is a SCAM.

Totally true. this is bad. the "survey" promises $10 back. there is no mention made (at least noticeable mention made) that they'll start billing you 19.95 per month under a nother company name.

Do NOT use Intelius!

Stay away.

100% agreed. These two "companies" are in league with one another, scamming from hard-working people. See my complaint under 'PM Identity / Intelius' for a more detailed account. I am disputing the $60 they took in fradulent charges and will pursue any and all other avenues to give them what they deserve, which is NOT free money. Do NOT use Intelius, you will regret it as well as PAY for it.

Intelius tenant screening scam!

I just paid $62.45 on a credit card for this company (Intelius) to do a tenant screening for me. What I got was screwed. They gave me 3 prior addresses, and told me the person had no record. What they didn't tell me was they weren't going to give me any credit information which is what I really wanted. I went to erenter.com and it opened to Intelius. What a rip-off! Do not use this company, the internet Complaint Board is full of other complaints on the same company.

They are a reputable company and uphold the strictest of security standards as required by law. You should have just read what you were getting for the package you ordered, you must have assumed a credit report was included with the background check however it is not and that is clear based on it being absent from what is specifically included. FYI intelius does offer credit report checks if you order them and does offer discounts for those who need to order them often.

Try one of these searches:

Of course Intelius is a scam. With all the identty theaft going on do you thnk the gov is going to allow ANY real information to be given out. I am always amazed how people fall for these scams, no offense to you personally. But think about it.

I've seen the advert for Intelius for a long time and finally got around to confirming my suspicions by googling the company plus any complains and what a mess I uncovered... and still this company is allowed to function! SHAME on the internet!

Intelius unauthorized charges!

These # suckers allowed another company, www.privacymattersidentity.com, to use my credit card number to charge my credit card account for a membership to privacymattersidentity.com without my authorization. www.privacymattersidentity.com stated that there was a pop up that by clicking on it, I accepted a membership through privacymatters.com but that it was done in agreement with www.intelius.com..

Kind of funny how this is supposed to be a company specializing in background checks in order to discover criminal history... that is pretty f*ckin criminal themselves if you ask me...

I'm not sure how we can stop these crooks; but maybe some of us should look into a Law Firm to start some sort of class action suit; that might get everyone's money back in the long run. I realize these type of suits take a very long time, but some Law Firms will take them on a percent type basis, You know they get paid only if they win the case... And, I'm sure they could and would win against these crooks! This is only one of many internet sites/pages that list many people, just like us, that have been ripped off for hundreds of dollars! Yes, me too!

I signed up for classmates.com and then was charged for that service as well as $19.95 twice in one day for a credit report that I have no idea I even signed up for. The person on the phone told me that I clicked on a free trial for a credit report that I have never asked for and then I clicked on something else that said I would be charged monthly. She talked so fast I barely know what she said. When I asked if I could get any of that back she said "no but I will cancel it and you will no longer be charged. So, I am out almost $80.00

I've just seen that they have been charging my wife's business credit card for months. The payment of $19.95 per month has been going to www.privacymattersidentity.com. I called this outfit, and they claimed it was done through Intelius. Rip off! I'm out over a hundred dollars.

I also had unauthorized charges by this company. When contacted, I was told that I had agreed to its "terms and conditions" . I am not sure where these "terms and conditions" appear on the web site.

The result was was two $19.95 charges monthly to my account for no services.

I have been assured by company rep, Chris Employee #14833, that my account will be credited for charges within 2-3 business days.

If not, the A.G. of my State will be notified of company's "fraudulent and misleading" actions--This may not result in a refund, and may be ineffective due to company's location in US., but possibility of Canadian corporation... which would require Federal action...not a valid solution to recover $39.90.

We shall see...meantime, I'm out money, not sure future charges to my account are stopped, and seem to have no recourse. To be fair, if account is credited and future charges stopped, I will revise this e-mail.

I know Itelius, they claimed that I gave ok through an email, which they could never produce. And since I did not authorize payment they cancelled future payments. Just call your bank and tell them someone stole your credit card and they will reissue you a new with a new number. But first make sure you have money on hand for emergencies. Also beware of mall stores that offers other discounts in the mail just before take your payment. That another way how your information is shared and beware of unknown emails.

Intelius no product as promised!

Intellius charged me $19.90 to check on a phone number. They say they will do a full background check and provide information concerning that number. The ONLY information I got was a first name, no last name, and a validation that it is a phone line. I already knew it was a phone line and I thought you needed more than only a first name to get a phone number? I filed a complaint with them and they ignored it, I called and after twenty minutes of waiting I hung up. NO ONE should use this company they are a rip off!

Pro Tip: If you give your credit card number and click the I agree button it is not fraud, why? Because you gave them authorization by entering in your personal information. Not to say you might have a quality dispute for services not rendered. Maybe working in the credit card industry has made me a bit jaded, however most of what I see are complaints from people who are very quick to blame the company and not take responsibility for the fact that you went on their website and entered in your Name, address, phone and credit card. Regardless of what information you received about people you can't find on your own the internet is a cess pool of information and you get what you pay for.

Intelius no name-address report received

I tried to use this company for a reverse # look up & they ended up taking ALOT more than agreed upon, as well as NOT refunding the money as they agreed. And this is one of those scams that if you click to agree with them, you end up paying another company you are not even aware you agreed to, they are called PMI (privacy matters...LMAO talk about wolf in sheeps clothing)or that is how it shows on your bank statements. The customer service for BOTH of these companies will draw this out to past your 90 days of getting any refunds or fee's dropped. I think it is crooked and WRONG to steal from people.
My bank account isn't candy in a dish to help yourself to. And they wanted to have me FAX my whole bank statement to proove this? HAHA Got me once their bad get me twice my bad. Not a stupid fool like they seem to think. But I recommend anyone searching this company to see if they are ok for you, that you just stay away, I am out $$$$ due to not catching it right away and when I did they prolonged it to avoid paying me back. Sleep well employees of Intelius & PMI, cause your game will be done soon. People will catch on to your scams & you will be without a paycheck.
Their customer service STINKS & will try to get you to argue. I think of the 200 times I called I got 2 nice people.

I just found numerous charges to my credit card account from Intellus.com. They were made in Feb, April and June, totalling $66.00. I never used this ompany to searh for my long lost relatives as none of them are lost. The charges appesar to be a recurring subscription fee. Intrellus.om should be shut down and the US Attorney General needs to charge this company with internet fraud.

Since many of you have not been able to contact Intellus to0 dispute the charges, I filed a dispute with my credit card company. Hopefully that'll be the end of this.
