INTELICOM MESSAGING™ / Fraudulent Account

1 United States Review updated:

I never signed up for this service, yet I received this e-mail. They had previosly billed me for 3 months of service before I caught it last year on one of my my phone bills and called to have it removed from my bill and put a 3rd party block on my ATT account. Apparently they don't take no for an answer.

apparently all you have to do to get signed up for an account like this is to provide your phone number and maybe an e-mail address. Gee, I know the phone numbers and e-mail addresses of hundreds of people. What would stop me from signing them ALL up?

Any reputable company wouldn't need to resort to fraudulent tactics to sell its products. If a service is valuable to people, then the company should be able to market it without cramming people's phone bills. If not, then maybe you don't have much of a product and you should consider another business.

I wonder how someone manages to sleep at night when there are elderly people living on fixed incomes who can barely read their bill getting charged for something they've never heard of, nor know they are paying for. It's stealing, plain and simple. Might as well steal the wallet right out of their pocket or purse. Any company using these sign up tactics should truly be ashamed.

Madoff got 150 years ... doesn't matter how much money you bilk people out of, the principle is the same. Deception to pad one's pocket at the expense of another wears many faces. I shudder to think how many people out there are paying for this service and don't know about it. In this economy they may be struggling just to pay for basic needs. $14.95 is alot of money to someone who can't keep food on the table. Like I said ... I hope they can sleep at night!! I couldnt'!!

If someone has mentioned this on here and I failed to see it, I apologize. But last night I discovered that since 2006 my wife and I have been getting scammed.

I literally feel like I have been put through the ringer. I found out last night by calling AT&T about a bundle offer that we received in the mail that we were getting charged $12.95 per month for "Nationwide Assist Emergency Vmail Fee 1 866 527-4969 since 2006.

After several attempts to notify this company I was finally able to get through to them by AT&T calling them for me. (this is after being on the phone with AT&T and transferred all over the place, going in circles and being put on hold for hours...) The numbers I originally called got me speaking to no one.

Anyway, when I got through to this "company" I spoke with some guy who said that "Mrs. Blonde"...aka..."my wife" signed up for this service. When I asked the guy what the service was he told me that this service is for a "private voice mailbox that you can access anywhere in the world." I was like...wtf??? I told him that there was no way my wife would intentionally sign up for anything of the sort and that why in the world would anybody in their right mind sign up for a "voice mailbox that you can access anywhere in the world"???!!! Especially when we have a cell phone with voice mail and a home phone through AT&T with voice mail that we can access "anywhere in the world". The whole concept doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

I did a little research online about this "company", this "third party billing" that was on my bill. I told him about me researching this company online and finding that it is a scam and that there is a class action lawsuit in the process of being filed against them. He was real quick to speak to his "supervisor" to credit me back our money. He came back about 30 seconds later and told me that he was going to credit me back 48 "credits"...aka..."months" to our AT&T account worth $621.60. He even gave me a conformation #. I wonder if I will ever see a penny of that money? I doubt it. These people need to be stopped!!! This is hwy robbery!!! IT IS A SCAM!!!

AT&T even credited me $181.30 for a years worth of charges and even discovered while sorting through all this mess that they have accidentally overlooked my account for the past few years for savings discounts and offers. They apologized for that and now our bill will be even lower than it has been in years! Thank you AT&T!!!

Please do yourself a favor and check your phone bill right now for third party billing!!! We never caught it till now and I think the reason why we really never caught it is because we went to "paperless statements" years ago. My wife would just get online and "pay the bill when it was time." I asked her if she noticed an increase in our bill by about $13 and she said she did years ago but thought it was just supposed to be that way.

The lady I spoke with on the phone through AT&T, her name was "Jonnie", told me that sometimes if you sign up for car giveaways, or online fliers for savings coupons that this is how these people get your info. Apparently all they need is your Name, phone #, and address.

If I had not called AT&T about that bundle offer I received in the mail, I probably would have never even caught it. The first lady that I originally spoke to about it brought it to my attention. I always knew we were paying too much for our phone service.

I then got to thinking about it and I do remember calling that number years ago and asked them what that charge was on our bill. If I remember correctly, the girl that I spoke to said it was for our voicemail service through our current phone company; which I guess I didn't really think about it at the time because we do have a "voicemail service" on our home phone. The phones we have are Panasonic and the base unit has an answering machine or you can use the voicemail service. We use the voicemail service instead of the answering machine. That is why I never questioned it. When I spoke to one of the service reps at AT&T and asked what that "Vmail Fee" was, if it was for our voicemail through them, and she said that no, that it was through a third party and that in the plan we have for our phone service that the voicemail box was included in that price and that we were being charged for something else. That is when the red flag went back up.

This scam is still taking place. Just discovered 12 months of these charges on my bills. This is what you get for agreeing to automatic credit card payments and electronic bills.

AT&T is the one that allows this to take place.
