IGS Energy Electric rate

had someone come to my door in May. offered me a lower rate than my 67 cents per killowatt hour. I signed up for 3 years, thinking this was the best deal. just looked at my bill, and its 30 cents more that what I was paying, and he put me on clean energy. just had to change my parents, because they did the same thing. we were on my porch in the sun, and I coulnt read his Ipad, so I told him to email the paperwork to me. he didnt. I called today to complain, and they basically told me im stuck with this. Im a widow on a fixed income. thought I was saving money, but this guy lied to me. I would have NEVER signed up for a more expensive plan. this is unfair!

Desired outcome: I would like to be released from this plan, since it is NOT what I signed up for

IGS Energy Salesman unavailable after the switch

The door-to-door agent; Ashley Fogt hounded me for days to review both my gas and electric which I finally emailed her. She came back with new bundled pricing for both, which I liked even though the electric was higher than my current rate. However, I was hit with a $225 early termination fee from Ohio Natural Gas! Honestly, I forgot about it, but shouldn't she have known that after looking into my account?

I even might be able to live with that - my bad - but the fact that she has disappeared off the face of the earth and won't reply to my emails is unacceptable. But let's be clear, she is doing her job, someone has given her guidelines on customer service and that is IGS.

I will never recommend you and I will drop you at the first opportunity that does not include another penalty. I thought I was smarter than this - so nice job IGS - from what I've read I'm not the first person to fall for this.

Desired outcome: A refund of the termination fee, or a road back to Ohio Natural Gas with no fee, or I don't know, a RESPONSE!

IGS Energy Natural gas

I was approached by a man named Matthew Tammarine in September 2022, who was an energy consultant with IGS at the time. He claimed that he was making a house call because we were former customers of IGS, which was completely false, and only did I find this out after calling Columbia Gas of Ohio to ask about my bill. Matt assured me that they would lower, and eliminate the delivery charges that were a set fee every month. Once my bill switched over I saw that IGS locked me into a fixed $1.19 per ccf rate. Come to find out rates in my area were around $.31 per ccf. at that time. They scammed me into a contract with a cancelation fee that was 4x the rate I was paying previously and were still charging me the standard delivery fees as well. He signed me up through his iPad and quickly scrolled through the forms, not allowing me to see the fine print, while he was assuring me I was getting a great deal.

Desired outcome: Refund, and elimination of existing balance for any amount exceeding the competitive rates in my area.

IGS Energy Natural Gas Supply

IGS Energy acquired my natural gas supply contract from a company that apparently went out of business. In November 2022, IGS notified me that my supply contract with them was expiring at the end of the current billing cycle. In early December 2022, I initiated a new contract with another supplier. In spite of this, IGS continued billing me at a rate TRIPLE that of the prior contract for almost four more months.

When I contacted them, IGS said that the changeover could take up to three billing cycles. IGS did send me a check for $63 because of an "overcharge". There was no explanation of how this amount had been calculated and it was only a small fraction of hundreds of dollars that I was billed because of IGS's failure to promptly switch over my supply and their price gouging.

Desired outcome: Bill Adjustment to refund the gross overcharge.

IGS Energy Lied to by salesman to convince me to sign up with igs

Back in December 2022 I was contacted by a salesman on the phone. I was told by the salesman that my current company AEP was purchased by IGS and my rates were higher and he wanted to lock me into a plan with lower rates. For some reason I bought what he was selling and agreed without checking as the salesman was insistent that I hurry up and sign up to gain my discounted services. I naively believed what I was told by the salesman and hurried up to agree to the contract and locked in for a year. Yesterday I was contacted by my former supplier AEP and they asked why I left? I was confused and said I was told that IGS purchased you (AEP) and was still the same company. They told me this was not true and that I was conned as IGS had not purchased AEP. Not only that, the rates from IGS are much higher than I had at AEP. IGS practices unscrupulous tactics to gain customers and then lock you with a plan that requires a termination fee. I have never ever before signed with a supplier that had a termination fee and would never I was scammed.

Desired outcome: I wish to have the termination fee ($99) waived and want to be returned to my original supplier AEP immediately.

IGS Energy Gas Service

IGS Energy is absolutely a scam and unethical. Shannon, the supervisor, lacked customer service skills and wasn't helpful at all. She honestly didn't care and was rude! IGS said they contacted us twice about a price increase and we never received the letters in the mail. It's a SCAM! Our prices went up 242% from December to January. I am reporting this company to the state. Dealing with IGS was by far one of the worst experiences I've had. I don't know how Shannon and the other employees sleep at night stealing from hardworking citizens. DO NOT sign up with them.

IGS Energy IGS Electric is Over Priced!

I was told my electric bill would be less going with IGS. I got my bill and it's the highest it's ever been! We used 1455kwh and the bill is $273.17! In August 2022 we used 1941 kwh and my bill was only $224! That's a huge increase and I cannot sustain this! I feel like I was lied to big time, and they want $200 to terminate my account! What kind of scam are they running here? I want off of this over priced supplier immediately! I can only imagine how much my bill will be in the Summer! Do not sign up with them no matter what lies they lay on you!

Desired outcome: I want my contract terminated and done so without the Early Termination Fee as I feel I was lied to, this is not saving me any money at all! I am on a fixed income and feel betrayed to say the least!

IGS Energy door to door soliciting

Two ladies came to the door and stated they wanted to look at my electric bill to ensure I wasnt being charged by an out of state electric company. I told them No thanks we are good. They rebuttled like telemarketers but only in person. They are going door to door to get people to show them their electric bill and than they will have you sign something that says you are okay. However that signature locks you into a costly contract with them and they dont tell you that!

IGS Energy Unauthorized Charges

IGS Energy is using a cancelled, forged contract to charge me for gas services. In October 2013 a service agreement was forged to charge me using a company name of BLUE SPRUCE ENERGY on my PGE bill. When I noticed the charges I cancelled their services in January of 2014, and was never credited those fraudulent charges. In January of 2015 I noticed charges from an ACCENT ENERGY on my PGE bill, after researching I found they had been charging me hundreds of dollars since October of 2014. I contacted the company and demanded it be canceled and my money be credited to my PGE bill as I NEVER accepted their services. They claimed I accepted services in October of 2014. It took one month for them to send me a copy of the contract I allegedly signed, and when they finally sent it It was the same contract agreement with my forged signature from BLUE SPRUCE still dated 10/2013. When I told them this, they requested a copy of my ID with my signature, and when it in fact did not match, they claim charges are valid because my mother signed my name. My mother did sign my name in October of 2013 for BLUE SPRUCE which was canceled in January of 2014. She has no authority to accept services AND they are using a void contract to charge me for gas! BLUE SPRUCE and ACCENT are both owned by IGS. They refuse to remove charges.

IGS Energy Unauthorized sign up/refusal to cancel

IGS stated they sent an option out letter to me requiring me to return to them if I did not want them to be my carrier for gas. I never received such a letter. On Oct 27, 2014 I received a post card from Columbia Gas stating my carrier choice change. I called columbia Gas and said I did no such thing. I was told to call IGS because they couldn't do anything. I call IGS andf was told I am in contract with them. I cancelled that day while I was on the phone or so I thought. IGS represented themselves on the phone as being a part of Columbia Gas. I was happy with my previous carrier and everything was running smooth. Get the bill. Pay the bill. Well, Dec 26, 2014, I receive my bill from Columbia Gas which was dramatically higher even though nothing in usage had changed. I see IGS is my carrier, my rate went up and obviously no longer on a budget program. after many hours on the phone, I have a cancellation number but was told it would take TWO months to process AND I would be charged a fee for early termination. The amount they did not know. I filed a complaint with the PUCO, BBB who by the way, doesn't have a rating for IGS or any information due to they are reviewing the company. I called the Attorney Generals Office and am in the process of filing a complaint with them. I see complaints filed on their web site of at least 75 for fraudulent procurement of contract, misrepresentation and unsolicited calls. IGS was founded by Marvin White in 1989 after he retired from Columbia Gas! His son, Scott White, is current CEO. They are a scam and using the "law" as their umbrella.

IGS Energy Unauthorized sign up

Received a note from AEP that IGS was taking over as my electric supplier per my request. I was given one week to respond and deny, not to affirm. I only check mail once a month, so now I have a problem that should not be. I am inquiring as to who made the change. It was not authorized by me, and somebody at IGS did something. I am not pleased, but till they respond I will keep complaining and commenting on every venue I find.

IGS Energy unaurhorized sign up

I am writing on my eldery father, after setting up my father with a company to save him on his electric bill, these prople called him and by talking to him and enrolling him with their company. when he can hardly hear on the phone. he is not only hard of hearing but he has to have time to think about what is being discussed. I handle most all of his finices . now not only did he get billed extra for them doing little of nothing but has turned it over to a collection agency almost the same month as the bill was recieved. I have tried calling over my lunch hour but have not been suscessful in contacting anyone to physciclly talk to. I will write them or email them and see what happens. very unhappy with this group of people. thanks for letting me vent. Keith Hague for my father Ernest jr Hague.

IGS Energy Harrassment

Earlier this year we had some girl from IGS call our office EVERY day (sometimes twice a day!). She did this for 3 weeks. Thankfully our office is set up to go right to voicemail unless you know the extensions. Usually we could never understand what her number was because the boiler room she was in was so loud you could barely hear her. When she finally left a message i was able to understand i called her back and got her to stop calling...for now. What i dont understand is why IGS feels the need to call a business every single day, what kind of sales logic is that? also, i did post my story on one of those 1-800 number complaint websites, im just trying to get these awful practices out in the open as much as possible.

IGS Energy solicators bad manners

A door to door solicator rang my doorbells. She told me that she worked for IGS Energy and said she could get me lower gas prices than what I currently pay with People's Gas. She asked to see my current bill and I told her thank you but no. She then went on to ask me why. I told her I just would rather not. She got a little nasty and asked me why again. I responded that I am not comfortable showing my personal business with strangers. She went on to say she couldn't have my gas turned off if that is what I was thinking. I told her that had nothing to do with my refusal and no thank you again. She proceeded to walk down my street announcing to my neighbors that I had refused to show her my bill in a very snider and nasty way. Real professional huh? Glad I looked nonlinear and found I'm not the only one put off by this company. I was going to call them directly to complain but after reading these posts I know it would have been a waste of time. Shameful.

IGS Energy Does not pay employees

I was hired by a representative of this company named Andre Cooper working out of the Platinum office in Oak Forest Illinois. I really thought it would be a great opportunity to earn some extra cash, but apparently I was wrong. I got sick and was admitted to the hospital. When I was released, I called about my check, which was only about $40. I was told to go to hell in other words. Mr. Cooper informed me that my orders had been cancelled, but I know they weren't. First of all, the first order in question is my father who I live with and I know he did not cancel. He did not pay me for that order. Now I have 2 more pending orders which he refuses to pay me for. Why do I always get hooked up with black people who are full of non professional ###! If anybody out there is approached by Mr. Cooper, DO NOT SIGN UP TO WORK WITH HIM, HE DO NOT PAY, AND YOU WILL NEVER RECEIVE ANY KIND OF HUMAN RESOURCE NUMBER TO FALL BACK ON. WORKERS BEWARE OF THE IGS SCAM!

I strongly disagree with this blog. I came to work with Nick and Andre who gave me the tools to run with this and make money while saving customers money. Now this job is for some not all. If you only had a total of 3 deals, did you receive a uniform, training, and a chance to make money. You cost the company more then your 3 apps? Background checks, training, uniforms etc. If you would of been able to handle the job you would of done very well. I love this job and are very grateful everyday that they gave me this chance! My husband and I both work for them and LOVE IT. As far as the black man theory that's just plain BS. IGS rocks and Platinum takes very good care of there IC's. Please stop bashing people and trying hurt a name of an excellent company! My family is prospering from this and saving friends, neighbors, and others money as well! Grow up and handle your business, its not that hard to contact Platinum and they would of helped you if there was legitimacy to you claim!

IGS Energy I hope this saves you making the same mistake

I hope this saves you making the same mistake. IGS Energy called in June when I was heating my pool with a therm rate of $1.3999 compared to my local company, NIPSCO's, rate of $1.85. No extra fees, no cancellation cost, no service charge, no contract, I figured I could keep an eye on it & save a little money. They told me in December they would send a letter notifying me of the current rate & I could decide then if I wanted to stay with them or cancel. End of December I realized I hadn't heard from IGS. I called NIPSCO 1st and the therm rate was $1.08. I called IGS and they proudly told me their therm rate was .95. I cancelled my service. I knew I had made a big mistake. Who knows how long the rate had been going down and if I had stayed with NIPSCO I would have been charged the going rate. Here is where they get you. They announce your current rate could be in effect for up to 2 billing cycles. Meaning if I chose their lower rate or cancelled I was going to be charged 2 more months at $1.3999 a therm. IGS hides behind the phrase 'it is the utilitiy companies policy not ours that it takes 2 months.' That is interesting to me since I have rental units & that day I can have a service switched into my name or a tenants name & billing starts from that point on. I knew I was dealing with the wrong end of the snake. I hung up on IGS and called NIPSCO. After honestly explaining to them I had made a mistake I asked if I could have my account cancelled and reopened with a new account number. NIPSCO warned me if I signed a contract with IGS there could be a penalty. Sinced I had signed nothing I was sure I wouldn't be charged. I also had cancellation numbers for both accounts. I suspect being paid the penalty is part of IGS's business plan. I am adult I take responsibility for this bad decision. All I can do from here is try to get the information out to others & any/all government agencies.

I have no problems with the I am in Texas and there is no tax and fees added like other companies.I have 9.5 kilowatt rate for fixed 12 months...I however do not agree with the door to door sales men at all...

It is unfortunate that this comment is so disparaging and misleading. IGS Energy is a reputable and approved Energy Choice Supplier in the Customer Choice Program. The utility company DOES NOT set your price for gas or electricity supply. The gas commodity charge (gas supply cost) is an open market variable rate, it changes based on supply and demand, weather and economy. NIPSCO does not control that rate, they bill their customers for distribution of energy, taxes, transportation of energy, taxes, and OUTSOURCED gas supply cost per therm/gas unit price (source of gas is a choice supplier or commodity charge from open market). IGS Energy is one of many Choice Suppliers offering fixed pricing to Nipsco customers. Most suppliers do have cancellation fees for early termination of their contract, IGS Energy does not have cancellation or early termination fees, a Nipsco representative has to warn all choice customer's that they MAY incur a cancellation fee (only if applicable by a supplier who charges cancellation fees, IGS Energy however does not). See Nipsco's website for information that supports alternative pricing options from approved gas suppliers. Choosing a gas supplier creates competition in the gas market and stabilizes a rate that is otherwise variable and unstable. Kinarone, I am sorry that you misinterpreted what the customer choice program offers. It is not a savings program, it is a stable rate to give the customer choice and control over their fluctuating gas cost.

IGS Energy Unexplained Charges

We have an RV park with 6 meters in close proximity. We have a fixed rate plan for 11cts/KwH. However, TDSP charges are outrageous and sometimes even higher than the power charges. The lady at the [protected]@Accent told me, that TDSP charges vary depending on the meter. However, this is NOT what the sales guy told me. He told me, that TDSP charges are usually about 1/2 of the power prices. The lady at Accent Energy told me, that I should talk to AEP - while AEP told me that I should talk to Accent Energy. I am running in circles and nobody seems to care.

IGS Energy Bad service

Accent Energy called me. Gave me a great quote, fixed for 2 years at a set price, no extra fees except standard taxes, etc. Compared billing to Reliant Energy/Centerpoint Energy. It would be cheaper! This was Sept 2008.

I suckered into it, first bill great, 2nd bill-great, 3rd bill (watch out)was $2, 024.40 plus. Usage was $63.62. When I called, they stated the other charges were Monthly Base Charge set by Centerpoint Energy. It was not on the prior bills and I have never been charged for this service in my life. I contacted Centerpoint and they stated point blank Accent Energy was ripping me off! I called Accent Energy to shove it and went back to Reliant.

In May, 2009, Accent Energy hires Collection Agency (who is a lawyer, bounty hunter wannabe), demands now $2, 259.20 and I explain to her what happened and she stated she understood, speak with supervisor and that this would be straightened out. I haven't heard from anyone since.

I just got copy of credit report and those (I can't say it online) put it on there anyway.

I just found they reported this on my credit about 15 min ago. I am on the phone tomorrow a.m. to every entity Fed, State, Local, about this. The fight is on!

IGS Energy fraud, unkept promises, etc!

Where to begin? We were doing a refinance on our home. We, too, lost our 4.875 through no fault of our own, without warning, and were given a 5.25, take it or leave it. Long story as to the internal complications which they finally revealed. We moved forward, but with ongoing extensive delays and change in staffing, with many people being fired and replaced, having to start from scratch with underwriting. Even after signing, just before we were supposed to fund, they required further documentation on a matter, which should have come up months prior. Again, more promises that once they had that document, they could fund within 5 days. Again, I called, emailed, and did all due diligence that I could as I had in the past. Was told "almost there" only to find out that their warehouse is no longer funding loans and that there was nothing they could do. All phone lines from the numerous staff I've spoken to are discontinued, go to voice mail, even no pick up from a receptionist. So much for a $995 refi - doubt I'm getting that back along with the money spent on worthless appraisals and time and energy and sacrifice spent with nearly 5 months of waiting. I am livid.

IGS Energy Fraud

After reading the numerous complaints on this website, I now know why Sean Regan at IGS is not returning my calls. I too signed loan docs back on May 25, and have not heard a peep from IGS. Based on other people experiences, I think I am also a victim of fraud. I am willing to join a class action lawsuit. I am also calling KFI to let them know this company ripped me off.

I work for a reputable mortgage broker in Foothill Ranch, CA. Many people call and ask us for quotes on refis, and when we tell them, they say, "Well, another company said they'll get me 4.5% for $995." I'd have to work for free and pay your closing costs out of my pocket to do that.
A new disclosure law that went into effect in July has made it harder for these companies to lie and hide extra fees. As for my company, we never did that, so the new disclosures are no big deal for us.
