Idearc Media Pay Per Click / Affiliate &bad clicks&

A salesman for Idearc Media convinced me to sign up for onine superpages advertising using "pay per click." Over the first few months of advertising the charges seemed extremely high, but I received absolutely NO corresponding increase in business inquiries. I finally decided to "suspend" advertising. I called the company to discuss my account and was informed by a person in the billing department that my account had been charged for a large number of "bad clicks." The "bad clicks" resulted from my account being disbursed to "affiliates." The Idearc representative claimed the company did not know that the "affiliates" would result in so many "bad clicks, " but that it had become a "real mess." She promised to research my account and reimburse me for the "bad clicks." Two weeks later I had not heard from Idearc regarding any reimbursement. I called back and spoke to the same representative. She again assured me she would research the matter and credit my account for the "bad clicks, " but that because there were so many accounts with this problem it could take some time... She also infrmed me that Idearc is making no effort to inform its clients of this problem, and continues to charge clients for the "bad clicks." I contacted my sales representative (who finally returned my phone call after I called his supervisor...). The sales representative (and his supervisor) both told m they had no knowledge of "affiliates" or "bad clicks." I insisted my account be closed, but they refused and stressed that I was bound to the contract. I have suspended my account so that I will be charged a minimal monthly amount. I believe this would make a great class action suit since the company admits to the problem, but apparently is neglectiing to inform its client advertisors, and continues to charge them for the "bad clicks."

I strongly agree with this because I just resigned from Idearc this month and I know first hand what they do to customers. They use negative keywords that don't apply to the customer. I had a customer who was a mobile day spa and the gave them keywords like babysitter porn, bald etc.
I had a plethora of customer who they did this to. I even helped my coworkers understand why their customers weren't getting the traffic and conversions they were told they'd have.
They treat their employees the same way. I went out on disability and they haven't paid me all my money even after coming back to work. They are horrible and it would do the industry good if a more reputable company would buy them because the management is the worst I have seen in my entire working experience.
They should be brought up on charges by their customers because they take their money and lie about what is happening. All customers who had or have there PPC product should ask to see their traffic report of every keyword they have ever used and if they don't start a class action suit against them to make them disclose that information. I'll support this however I can.

That is a big fat joke! It isn't an issue Idearc has just become aware of. These types of challenges were evident when they were Verizon Information Services. I think the entire small to medium size business community need to complain loud enough that management will be changed to a more customer focused management or have a reputable company buy them.
It's like trying to close the barn door after the horse has gotten away.
The Alpharetta Ga office is so unethical and poorly managed that it really shocks me that it still is open. It is an HR nightmare...actually Idearc is an HR nigthmare.
With over 9 billion in debt and nearly over 1 billion in assets I hope it finally caves in.
It really sickened me to know how much the CEO, HR director and VP of Sale make while the customers and the ethical employees or former employees struggle with making ends meet.
It makes me sick!

just to warn others that may be thinking about signing up with these crooks. the jist of my story is they over-promised and grossly under-delivered. my credit card company won't do anything about it because there isn't any performance guarantees in the contract, so i'm stuck paying the monthly "maintanence" fee. they don't seem to have a clue what they are doing (i.t. wise) and want to screw they customers. i don't see how it is possible to run a company like this (except to run it into the ground).

I am a recent former employee of Idearc in their Internet Division Sales. I am glad I am out because in 20 years of selling advertising, I have never witnessed a more blatant use of distortion, lies and misrepresentation. The truth is that the product is not bad, but their attitude and sales "process" is horrible. It stresses a hunter mentality, where you are the meat and they are the lion. They teach by example, never in written words or directives, that to succeed you need to stretch the truth, misrepresent what Idearc does, hold back information, claim to have "clients" when there are none, suggest that Idearc doesn't work with just any company, when in fact they work with any business that has the money. The sales reps have no accountability to the businesses they sold to. Once the contract is signed or verbally agreed to, your account is shuttled off to another department and the rep is not to ever contact you again, unless to try and upsell you. A "successful" salesperson said it best, "I just keep calling till I get the dumb-###". Don't be the dumb-###, and stay away from this company.

I am so glad to here you are no longer with them. I too strongly encourage businesses and anyone looking for a job to run as fast as you can. Idearc is like Enron. I can't wait until the entire bottom falls out on them.

I don't like to wish for bad things to happen to anyone but this group, I hope they bust hell wide open!

I am sorry that you are not happy with superpages.com. I was looking online a found a website that you can have a FREE ebillboard. Just go to seekshallfind.com. I was talking to my friend Mike he told me that he setup a ebillboard and he is happy with the site. He told me that you can go on and change any thing and with out calling one person to do it for him. He said that he can upload his business logo or other photos or up to a 5 min video. He said on this site and did not cost him a dime to setup. I hope this helps you out? Have a good day.
