Hi,

I want bring to your notice about the pathetic operations at ICICI Bank. I have an ICICI savings account in Kukatpally, Hyderabad Branch. I came to USA on a professional assignment.

My mobile number (India) registered with ICICI is de-activated and there is no means for me to receive the URN or OTP! It is quite strange to learn that, the phone banking officer says 'OTP' through phone when we provide the account number, PIN, security password and other details to authenticate myself.

But, the same does not hold good for URN to confirm a payee! I was asked to send a postal courier to ICICI bank requesting the change in mobile number with proof of identity (Hard Copies). The entire process can take upto 3- 4 weeks.

Spoke with N Number of phone banking officers and all they could say is sorry for not being able to provide URN/ confirm payee even after I authenticate myself with all the necessary details. What is the point of having phone banking service, when you cannot provide a simple service to confirm a payee?

ICICI should either provide a feature to change the mobile number online or improve their phone banking services to help us better.

I am in the same situation where I am in abroad and unable to receive the pin and URN numbers. I could not add the payee and send the money for emergency. I can give my all the identity to prove that i am the account holder whereas they simply said that please visit nearest branch to update your mobile number after i told them i am in USA. couldnt understand the team. Please help me to update my mobile number.

I was tried to contact their helpline number but I haven't get any IVR option after the ring. I have only getting a dead air So how can I trust u. So I would like to cancel my CPP membership

I Have the strange problem, i am not receiving URN to my registered Singapore mObile number. Had made around 20 calls to customer care of ICICI., but the same problem is persisiting.

At one hand they say i will receive my URN in my registered mobile number and on the other hand they ask me to send SMS to some number. Even after following all instructions i have still not received any URN. i have created 4 payees and send SMS to their numbers number of times.

It is total waste of my money calling ISD to their customer cre numbers. Who will pay the phone bills..when make us wait for nearly 20-30 minutes on call with music buzzing in your ears.

Pathetic service ICICI.

New ICICI bank portal sucks!

I am in US for project and I have been trying to transfer my money to another bank account and from yesterday I am getting error that "No Mobile number registers". On calling customer care (it like hitting your head on wall) the call went for around 90 minutes in which I talked to around 4 representative and all 4 were saying different thing. Ultimately as usually common man had to do... that is give up!, so I have to agree with that there is NO way on the earth to change the mobile number in ICICI bank other than visiting the branch itself.

One lady in customer care suggest me to either mail the application for to their Hyderabad address and it may take 2-3 week to update.

Irony is I cannot use my own money because of these silly process... IVR has an authentication mechanism then customer support also ask hell lot of question finally they come to the problem after whole verification... I don't know what it take them to update the mobile number or at least do the registration based on email address like it is done on NRI or NRO account.

One ICICI bank logic I do not understand, you can go to ATM enter the PIN and change the mobile number BUT if same thing is done via IVR or online that is not acceptable to them... Ah!

I guess this is enough for today... tonight I'll will again call them and hope is any knowledgeable person is there on call... Wish me luck :)

ICICI Bank online facility has become cumbersome after their upgrade. Also, mobile number update facility is no longer valid online, as mentioned by many. I have a resident savings a/c with ICICI Bank, and is currently on an official assignment abroad. My India mobile number registered with ICICI has been deactivated. When I called customer care to update my mobile number, I was simply told to download a form, fill it and send it physically to Hyderabad, along with hard copy of my ID proof. I requested to stop SMS facility on that number at least, and I was told that can't be done over phone as well! What a crap! I am logging into icicibank.com using my user ID and password, and I can't place a change in my number online. I am not sure if my earlier India mobile number is given to someone else by the service provider. ICICI is ready to compromise on my security information, but not ready to authenticate me when I call them directly! I have been with ICICI for over 12 years now, but services, especially online have degraded immensely! May be, its tome to switch from ICICI.

I really don't understand, even after so many customer complaints, ICICI bank has never taken a step to correct this issue. I read all the complaints and the reply from the Customer Care. They are asking to give the details and they will call back it seems. Can anyone please tell whether something is resolved after giving the contact details or by sending an email?
Or are they asking to send an email just to say Sorry, not possible?
As everyone in the previous comments said. As soon as I land in India, the first thing I do will be closing this ### Bank Account and open somewhere else which is more reliable and customer friendly. I know all other banks provide the option to change the mobile number online or through phone banking.

As mentioned above by many people, I too recently have moved to another country on work purpose and cannot receive the URN for confirming a payee.

Please let me know a solution that can help and is quick as I cannot wait for long as this is urgent

Just yesterday I have the same problem, I asked the 24/7, I can tell you my details what ever you want just let me know the URN. But every time they will tell you contact phone banking officer. I faced same problem several times. Then I asked my friends to transfer money to my parents. One of the worst banking ever. I am talking to an xxx agent to change my banking account. Very soon I will change my personal banking. I suggested my friends too that don't take the ICICI Banking Account. It will suck you several times. Please change your banking account.

I am also facing the same problem i am unable to access my personal account as i forget my password.The web site is asking for registered mobile number.I am in USA right now and the registered mobile number is deactivated.Please suggest me what are the ways i can access my personal account online.ICICI bank has this problem it is not supporting the issues of customer those are staying aboard.

I have the same issue here. ICICI is not confirming the URN.I am in UK now and I am not getting URN confirmation message on my Registered Mobile number. I have called ICICI customer care number couple of times, without any proper response, Really frustrating system.I need a solution or I may go to some other banking services sooner who provide a better service.

Same here. I spent 3000Rs to send the documents to get my international mobile banking number updated. I'm not receiving the URN number when I try to add a payee. Tried calling ICICI customer care at least 10 times. No one seems to know what to do or how to help. They just keep me on hold for 20-25 mins each time on an international call. I don't understand how I'm getting text messages from everyone else except ICICI. Why can't ICICI just send the URN over email? What kind of security is this?
Please provide security but don't make it a pain for the customers. Experience with ICICI bank customer service is the most pathetic one I've ever experienced.

Even I am facing same problem. When i tried contacting customer care, it took me 30 mins to get them on the call then another 30 mins to make him understand my problem. this is really frustrating. When i asked if i can talk to any of his supervisor or manager, I was bluntly told my call cant be transferred to his seniors are they busy. I have been trying to get in touch with Customer care for sometime now but it hasn't helped. Can anyone assist me with adding a payee as I am abroad and I need to transfer money from my saving account urgently.

I cam e to Canada for an assignment and i have an icici account india. Im unable to add a payee to my account. Can you please make the process simple instead of couriering the documents. Its the India's no.1 bank and dont even have a provision to change the mobile number when we come abroad. This is a pathetic service.

I am a resident of Australia and have an ICICI Account. I have been trying to add Payees for transfers but have not been receiving URN for the last 2 days. When contacted, the customer representatives (called 5 times in one single go as the representative cut me each time) mentioned that the server is down and would be rectified soon. If the server is really down and facing issues, why is it not announced on the website? It is frustrating indeed with little information.

This is so frustrating to work on the ICICI bank website ...just shows there commitment to customer you can never find a button to email them your query they will just put you round in round on their website.yesterday I spent 1 hour to find a way to send an email but all without success...can anyone help me here ? I want to confirm the payee online but when i go to the website and click on "confirm payee" blank screen appears i am slowly getting impatient ...

This is sooooooo frustrating that there is no facility to change mobile no via online or any other way in person is in abroad.ITs becoming very difficult to transact with our account . ICICI was my all-time favorite bank but this issue has make us nervous .To change mobile no i have to send letter and proof of evidence to Hydrabad with around 3000Rs expense !
I request you to update my abroad no on my account and help us to do more transaction with bank. We are only expecting best customer care service from top bank of India ..

I have already sent the courier twice to their Hyderabad branch. Each time I get an email saying it has been denied because of signature mismatch. I have been using the same signatures ever since I started using cheque books around 15 years back. For more than a year now, I havent been able to make an online transaction using the ICICI website. It is so frustrating.

I am now facing the same issue. I can't add a payee anymore just because I'm abroad and the indian mobile number registered is deactivated. Has anyone been able to overcome this issue?
The phone banking representative says that they cannot provide the URN through phone. Any help is appreciated!

How is it possible to do so? cant they send the required security numbers over email? they should enable this feature so that the customers will be able to do transactions.

Email Response from ICICI Bank -
This is with reference to your e-mail with regards to URN alert not received.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused to you.

We will be unable to confirm the payee through e-mail channel for the security reason.
You can confirm payee registration, only when your mobile number is registered in our records.

As your account is registered for mobile banking facility, you will receive a Unique Registration Number (URN) by SMS within 15 minutes. Once you receive the URN number, please click on 'Confirm Payee' and it will ask for the URN. Once you enter the URN, you will be able to register your payee.

In case you do not receive the SMS within 15 minutes, then you can use the 'Pull URN' service. To use this service you can follow the procedure mentioned below:
Type URN Payee Nickname and send it to 5676766
Once the SMS is sent, you will receive an SMS within few minutes. Then you can go online and register the payee.
Please note that you need to confirm payee registration with the URN that you have received within 1 day from the date you have registered a payee, failing which the payee registration will be cancelled.

Alternatively you may call our customer care and as an exception we will confirm the payee post authenticating your account.

This is so frustrating. I am facing the same problem today and looks like ICICI Bank has done nothing in an year to resolve such a minor aspect of mobile banking. Really poor service and extremely poor call center staff.

Hi Respected Authorities,

ICICI Credit Card Division has fraudulently blocked my salary Account No. [protected] with ICICI Bank. The bills raised by the credit card division are under dispute. On one hand I have requested to settlement my cards by the ICICI bank who told me to wait till July 7, 2008, while on the other hand the credit card division has in-between gone ahead and blocked Rs. 38, 060/- from my salary account on July 2, 2008, which they claim is theirs.

This has resulted in an outstanding of Rs 92, 000/- due to finance, late payment charges, service tax etc. which had been accumulating over the last 6 months due to ICICI’s negligence. if the amount blocked is not reversed immediately.

I have got my address and contact number changed more than 6 times, but its ironic that the recovery calls come on my residence number and also my mobile number while the notice/ letters are sent to my address which is no more valid. I refuse to acknowledge or pay Rs. 18, 000/- being claimed forcefully.

Although I have communicated numerous times that I am extremely unhappy with the ICICI services and intend pay the total amount spent by me and settle my account, I also I feel threatened by the recovery process and being a woman will ask for police protection from ICICI sponsored goondas.

I have joined the icici bank at hanumangarh as fos in RMAG. I have done my work very well whichever is assigned to me. On the joining I have informed that my basic salary is 3500/- & the incentive is on the basis of performance. I have joined at 20 dec 2006.ON 1 may 2007 I have leave the RMAG. Different reasons behind that & one of them is the salary disburse to me. I have received only 13600 (approx.) till march & till now I have not received my april salary. The reason behind that the FOS code mentioned in AOF is changed in BIKANER by anybody & I have proof of that. I have some AOF who sourced by me & codes are change in the bikaner. In the matter of April salary I heard that all fos in bikaner is received his salary but we are not.
