H&R Block / HRB Digital h&r block free consultation with $150 to $250 for tax return

As we sat with the H&R Block representative yesterday April 11, 2017, they immediately ask for detailed information, SS and drivers license. Our tax filing is not complicated, nothing to itemize, married with no children. After entering our info into their system, they then display three different types of protection H&R block provides after quoting $286.00, which would have put their fee well over $360.00. We told them we were quoted by that office that there would be free consultation and that their average price for tax returns were $150 to $250.
Then to add insult to injury, our return owed to us is $131.00. I believe my return was higher than that in 1969 in my first part time job.
Do I have any grounds to complain or do I just suck it up and not make the same mistake next year by choosing a different tax consultant ?

My husband I went to Mall of Georgia H&RBlock office in Lawrenceville, Ga. We have went here for years, our tax person retired and we were scheduled with Amy (who claims to be a former office manager) Firstly, she greeted my husband and not me. Secondly, we are married with no children. We have the same deductions every year, however, Amy argued each deduction and spend over 20 mins online to determine if our new heat pump/air was energy star (which clearly we had a certification and it met the regs). She also fished around in last years taxes for another 20 mins and claims our tax person had made and error, and she needed to report this. I told her to go ahead because H&Rblock would be paying for any fees as we have the piece of mind insurance they offer each year. Even though I had no 1099s, business expenses etc, basically basic taxes with some charity donations we were charged a WHOOPING over $500 amount! Never again will I be subjected to such poor customer service and extorted amounts. I researched and discovered that they work on commission, so every form they add (like my student loan was added even though I go no interest back due to my salary)- so why add it then? Oh and the heat pump energy saver unit...it deducted $50 and the form cost us $160! Complete rip off!

H&R Block / HRB Digital fed and state tax preparation by rep

Filing with H & R office in NC. Requires Fed., NC & MA state returns.

Now into second filing amendment.

First time was due to incorrect treatment of long term cap loss on all returns.

Second time is to revise MA state return and inclusion of info from form 2439.

Rep stated he was not familiar with the 2439 form or the MA state return.

Gave rep name and number of H & R rep in MA who performed previous returns.

Don't reps have resources to assist them?!

H&R Block / HRB Digital tax preparation

i took my tax info to H & R Block at 1311 S. Jefferson, Mt Pleasant Tx on March 29, 2017. I left it there because my return can take awhile. Sherry, the preparer and owner of that location told me it would be ready on Saturday, April 1st, and she would call me. She did not call. I did not call them the first time until Tuesday at approximately 5:45pm. Receptionist said she would give Sherry message to call me. Called Wednesday at 9:09am, again they said they would give her message, called again at 3:14pm, they said Sherry works at another location on Mondays and Wednesdays, but she would give her message. Weird thing is she was in that office last Wednesday. I received no call back from these calls. I called today at 1:35pm, asked to speak to the manager and if I did not receive a call back I would be there later to pick up my papers. Guess what, no return call. I went there at about 4:30 to pick up my papers and receptionist said Sherry was done with my tax preparation but has not had time to call, they had been very busy, I said I called 4 times though. I did not want the tax preparation. The horrible thing is that Sherry left it to receptionist to speak to me, Sherry did not even have the decency to speak to me, she brought tax papers to receptionist and stood behind potted tree to give them to receptionist. I left with my papers and will NEVER set foot in that place again. Last year's taxes cost me over $500, which I had done there with no problems. They lost a pretty big paying client.

H&R Block / HRB Digital tax preparer request

Why did you change my tax preparer from the one I specifically requested because she has done them for years and TRUST. To someone else I don't know or TRUST without asking permission. You did the same thing to me last year and after my pitching a ###. After sitting in office for over an hour they finally told me she was off that day. I made another appointment when I got there sat for another 45 minutes to find out she wasn't going to be in for a few days. So I said I would wait for her. Made another appointment sat 35 minutes to find out they set my appointment with someone else. I made another appointment with my usual girl. After a 35 minute wait I got in to see her. This year I called her She told me to just drop them off for her name and and she would call when finished with them. So I did as instructed and when I looked at the businessman card it wasn't hers and not her signature on the papers. What give you the right to do this ?

Hello im writing this complaint about one of your tax prepers named peter he is from the Kingston ny office on ulster avenue. I went into the office to talk to him about mending my taxes from last year in january of 2017 he said he would take care of it and never did. Mr peter messed up my taxes of that year and made me lose out on money because of this. I have contacted this man 18 times sense january and he has NOT contacted me at all reguaring this matter...my last appearance in the office he told the receptionist that "he doesnt have time to deal me" i felt that this was the last straw i dont see how this is good company work if the employees act this way... i have already told him that my lawyer will be involved if this matter is not resolved

H&R Block / HRB Digital h&r block tax and accounting services

We had our 2015 Federal and State taxes prepared by H&R Block at their office in Lenexa, KS in February 2016. In February of this year while preparing our 2016 taxes, our tax advisor discovered that H&R Block had left our depreciation schedule completely out of our tax copy. After requesting the schedule from them, we further discovered that H&R Block had made a serious error in our taxes which resulted in a $1500.00 refund we should have received from the IRS. We contacted H&R Block and they admitted the error, stating that it was a system error. They prepared an amended return for both the Federal and State governments, and we are waiting for our refund. H&R Block has refused to refund the $700.00 we paid for the preparation of our 2015 taxes claiming their accuracy guarantee is only good if the error is discovered in the same year the error is made. I explained that this would have been impossible since H&R Block had completely left the depreciation schedule out of our copy of the tax return. The person I spoke to who was supposedly the manager of the H&R Block office was rude to us and more or less told us that since they had amended our return at no charge to us, we had no reason to complain. Our response, of course, was to say why should we pay to correct an error which they made? We are very dissatisfied with H&R Block and want to warn everyone that their guarantees are worthless, and their tax preparations are sloppy and inaccurate.

H&R Block / HRB Digital being charged way too much for a simple return

My name is Shanna Godley. My husband and I file our tax return together. We do not itemize. We just do a simple return. Last year we used the local H&R Block and we were charged $218.00 for filing our taxes. This year we went back to our local H&R Block and this year the charge was $239.00! We work hard for our money and I think the charge is extremely excessive. Especially when I have a co-worker that has to file with an injured spouse claim for his wife and he is only charged $100. We will not be using you next year.

H&R Block / HRB Digital emerald card payment customer service

My payment was due feb.14 but I received a second invoice with a late fee and interest with my loan due on march 14. H r block received it on march 6. Of full payment of the loan and it the letter I included the invoice and check that was due. This friday I receice a bill for $20.00 and sum change for late fee and interest.. I paid in full. I call five times. Finally got to talk to someone that handled it by saying someone would get back to me... That was today to say I had to pay, this bill. Stating I owe late fee and interest from feb. It was paid by the date in march with the amount. No sense.. I will not refer you guys no longer. Nor do business... Because. I had to pay. Because of six customer service workers incompetance. Thanks melissa wherry

H&R Block / HRB Digital tax refund

We did our taxes at H&R Block last month in Country Side, IL. 2/21/2017
The lady that did it was fast and efficient. She did a amazing job. Since my husband was not with me at the time we agreed to sign the copies later. I brought the signed copies the next day. left them at the front desk with specific instruction and the name of the lady that did them. Today we checked on the tax refund status and apparently it showed that we have not filled them.
We called and were not able to talk to a representative. Today we went to the office and the only they said was that they have miss placed the documents. First they could not find them.
After they did find they, they said they are sorry and that was that. I understand it is tax season and you are busy. But do not guarantee 100% tax refund in 21 days and don`t deliver. It takes more that I`m sorry.

H&R Block / HRB Digital 2016 tax prep fee charged me

I went to your office in Sun City California again this year (2nd time) I have used this office. In 2016 I was charged $140 for my 2015 year filing. This year 2017 I was being charged $463.50 for my 2016 filing. After I raised the issue of being over charged they lowered the fee by only $100. I feel this increase is way out of line given the fact that the 2 returned were identical. Monica Golden did a good job but time spent was only 45 minutes in total.

Your offices should advise a client of this large an increase before they start work, note: no extra work was required this year, no additional schedules needed. I raised this point to Paula Cannon, EA who I believe manages this office to no avail, she stated I had received a special off last year? Both these women were very helpful, polite and professional but to the tune of $366.00 per 45 minutes, CPA's don't even charge at this rate. I will seek services elsewhere in the future due to your excessive fee schedule.

H&R Block / HRB Digital emerald card

So far this card has been a disaster. I picked it because there is an ability to link it to a bank account.

Note: I'm computer literate. I'm not missing menus or not reading the help correctly.

So, I get logged in. Good.

To link a bank account, help tells me to:

"Go to the Transfer Money screen and select the Manage Your Linked Account tab. Then, enter your Routing Transit Number(RTN) and Account number twice and click Add Account."

Doesn't exist.

I make a long phone call to customer service. I have no problem with people who are not good with English, but it is clear that the customer service operator literally does not understand enough english to discuss the problem. His job is to listen for a keyword like "link my account" and then talk me through the menu. He isn't capable of understanding that I've already logged in. I log back out to another browser, and log back in, following his instructions.

When we get to the part where I don't have that menu, he realizes he's out of his depth and begs off the phone call promising to send me an email with steps to follow. I figure I'll give it a try, I've dealt with highly counter-intuitive sites before.

The email says:

"You can't beat the convenience of transferring funds from your checking account to your Emerald Card⁴. There's no cost to enroll and you can set up automatic transfers so that your money is there when you need it. Visit hrblock.com/emeraldcard and look for the "My Linked Account" widget."

"Select "Manage Your Linked Account" tab and enter your external checking account information. You will receive two small deposits to your external account within two business days. Return to the "My Linked Accounts" widget and enter those 2 amounts in any order. This process has to be completed within 14 days or you'll have to start over. Once you have completed linking your external account, you can begin transferring funds to your Emerald Card. It will take 5 business days for the funds to be verified and transferred."

You guessed it of course. There is no "My Linked Account" There is no "Manage Your Linked Account" tab. I search the page for hidden links, etc. Nothing. It isn't there.

If you look carefully at the main page, the claim about linking to your bank account contains a footnote which says it won't be available to all customers. That's news that wasn't mentioned when I signed up.

That's probably the problem. I call Customer Service back.

This CSR has no more ability than the first to figure out what I am talking about, but he's quicker to figure out that he's completely out of his depth and does not have enough English to even understand what I am asking. Note that we deal with overseas CSRs a lot and I'm not terrible at stating things clearly and in simple terms.

He forwards me to his "supervisor."

I'm letting the phone ring just for fun. At 3 rings per second, it has run about 1800 times now. Are you surprised there is no answer.

There's no live chat feature, and the automated menus when you call are set up to *really* dissuade you from trying to reach an operator.

Basically you are NOT going to talk to a useful human here. There is no "customer service" outside of the help menus, and people who read the help menus to you. You're on your own.

I had the same problem after 3 days straight I mean calling back to back speaking to probably a total of 56 CSRs and 5 supervisors and 2 H&R block headquarter employees. The beginning of the fourth day call headquarters again and the lady resolves my issue in 2 min. I was mad. However she got a great review.

My name is Berlin Howard JR I went to your office in middlesboro ky in 2014 and received a refund or right around 4000 I don't have the tax return right in front of me at this moment but it was close to 4000 anyway your tax preparer told me to file head of household married but filing separately now I know nothing about doing taxes I gave her all my paperwork and was claiming my to step grandson's one who is 11 years old and has lived with me all his life the other one is 7 and has lived with me since 2009 now remember I told your worker all this a few months after I got my refund the IRS sent me a letter saying that my refund was disallowed manly due to the way it was filed then I went to the Middleborough office they said they would file a amendment and they said they did and when I went to file in 2015 they said I had to wait till 2014 was clear up and I kept calling and nothing ever got done so I went all of 2015 without filling so I went and got a local tax preparer to do 2015 and 2016 and am being audited for both years so while everyone else has been enjoying there tax returns​ I have not had one for to years due to His&R block only for I have never told a lie on my taxes in my life now I think u should do something to rectify this to me in some way fo not fool with my taxes I have some one trying to fix this but this is not how your company says it will help people I do expect to here from u my email is [protected]@aol.com or phon 606_896_0613 thank u Berlin Howard

Where's my refund? Know one knows! This will be the last time I use them for services! They got paid for the work they provided but sent my return to the wrong bank! I called the help line NUMEROUS times and got a different answer from every person I spoke to in regards to where my money was! Not to mention not one person I spoke to spoke fluent English

H&R Block / HRB Digital failure to put in peace of mind h&r block are not honoring their own policies they did taxes wrong for the 2015 year

I am a college student christina palumbo I took out piece of mind and paid a lot of money for my 2015 taxes to be done by your professionals . I work part time for disabilities and I am a full time college student . I received the first notice December 19, 2016. I live in north haven I went to that h & r block as my mom is separated and my brother is disabled. They sent me to new Haven I went I did the paperwork with Christine gulyban. Lisa Silverstri (teaches of taxes) requested i take out peace of mind I did for the 2015 taxes. My family and I to date have had issues with the north Haven office Lou dawn Lisa all will not comply . My mom and dad stepped in to put in the peace of mine claims only to have the north Haven office stop them . We have been calling your customer service and the calls we were told would b escalated and someone would call us back. No one to date called . We also called the IRS ourselves on 3/20/17 to hear they answer all issues by 30 days ? How can this happen. Also they will not allow me to do my new taxes as I owe 2, 575.00 which I am not responsible for. I took out the piece of mind. Again to help h and r block I went to my college and got a print out of Payments. We only have 1 car therefore my mom and autistic and mentally challenged brother had to come . We did all we could to help h and r block. My dad put piece of mind complaints in o LH to have the north Haven office stop them .. ex. 1327960.. now no record . This is very disappointing business and I am a full time college student woth a 4.0average and I try to help only to be treated inappropriately by the staff at your north haven branch on more then 1 occasion. We again had to go over this weekend . The office manager spoke to my dad he told my dad we didn't give him the info. We did we completed it with your office manager lou on 12/19/17 . He said he would fax it over and follow up. No follow up was done my parents and myself have been running around and they will not abide by the rules they put in place . It is now march 20, 2016 i again put in a peace of mind claim for the 5th time claim number 1329492 and I called the IRS. To date your office refuses to pay or put in the peace of mind. The IRS told me they answer all in 30
Days . I need your help to resolve as the IRS is adding penalties of 24percent and your north Haven branch will not help me ? Now dawn wants me to do my taxes and the IRS will take my New money :( . I can not have this I paid a lot to have your huge company do my taxes. I want this settled immediately as your peace of mind states. And I need to get my 2016 taxes done before the deadline . I don't understand how these specialists messed up my taxes so bad I'm a college kid ?

I need this settled immediately if not sooner .. please help me. My mom is Again taking me and my disable brother back to the branch tonight at 530 6pm as they did not answer us over the weekend as they promised and they did not call us to date with any update . This is so sad and my

H&R Block / HRB Digital really frustrated with this company

I have filed my 2016 Taxes in late January and was accepted to the IRS the following day...Today I was on the phone all morning trying to figure out what was going on with my refund and nobody can tell me anything. It was supposed to be direct deposit into my bank account but for some reason I am being cut a paper check. Now I have to do all this running around because apparently no fees or anything came out. The whole reason I went with you all is so I wouldn't have to worry with anything. Peace of Mind I think not! Especially when I was paying for it.

H&R Block / HRB Digital h&r block policing for profits endangering their employees

A former H&R Block employee was assaulted in her home in 2014. After eight years of employment, the former H&R Block employee refused to return to the company after receiving repeated threats from two co workers. During the time of her employment when making reports of the sexual harassment and threats, her boss Amber Moreland Cooke Howell only compared it to the duties and the hostility to her husband's job in Law Enforcement. H&R Block's attorneys prevented Amber from turning over the Deputies involved and covered up the crime with the assistance of her husband and his friends. https://www.facebook.com/InsearchofJustise/

I filed my 2016 taxes on Jan.31 I have used H&R block for about 15 years but anyways I was told that i could not file my state tax return because part of my years income was from Illinois and they were not excepting tax returns yet so I said ok and was told they would call me when I they can send then I waited three weeks called them nine times before that told me they were still not excepting them and it is now march 8th and I have still not heard or found anything out I am so upset because I feel like my problem does not concern them I have paid for their service for many years and am now at the point I really don't think I will another year.

i didnt get my state tax return and it was filrd on feb 11. i called on the 28 to check status it was sent electronically on the 28th yet i still havent received it and i thiik it went to someone else h and r block needs to give me my 264.00 refund i was only offered 60.00 and filed a complaint with attorney general i paid h and r block 342.00 to do my taxes and i want my state tax refund

I have been using H and R block tax software for years. It is best to print out your state tax return and mail it to the proper state. This is because some states require other forms that is not electronically sent because that state doesn't allow it certain forms to be sent to them.

H&R Block / HRB Digital 144th ave broomfield location

My complaint is more so towards the website than the actual advisor I worked with. When I went on the website, we put in our zip code and it funneled us to the closest location which was this one. I booked the location without realizing this place was going to charge an arm and a leg to file a simple 1040 E-Z return.

My husband and I decided to forego Turbo Tax because we had a ton of changes this year (ie, bought new cars, bought a house, got married, switched jobs, had salary increases, etc). Needless to say, we could have filed our taxes on turbo tax for hundreds of dollars less because the standard deduction was the best option for us this year.

We also wanted to weigh our options, was is better to file seperately or jointly? Unfortunately we had a misunderstanding with our tax advisor and she filed my husbands without filing mine, which we didn't realize until we left the office that his was completed, I would need to schedule my appointment and we didn't get a chance to look at our option of filing jointly. Later that night, I submitted everything on turbo tax. Filing seperately we both owed state & federal, filing jointly we had over a $4, 000 return. I was ticked, so I called and told them we would like to have mine done with my husbands. We found out we would have to wait for his to go through & then go back in and file an amendment. Once that payment went through in a couple weeks we scheduled to have his amended and mine added to file jointly. We were then charged an additional $57 for the amendment, which was actually the mistake of HR block. I called customer service and have not found a resolution thus far with them. Again, unfortunately this was a misunderstanding with our advisor but I think it's insanity to charge $400 for a simple return with someone who isn't even a CPA. I could have gone to a CPA for less than HALF of that. I am irritated and will continue to complain with customer service until I have found a resolution.

AVOID AVOID AVOID unless you have a complicated return but bear in mind you are not meeting with a CPA.
