I have been donating to the Houston Humane Society for a bit over 3 years, and have gotten my church involved in this act of Love. But sadly today January 19/10, i had gone with my children, because i know the importance of teaching your children to love animals and do for them what maybe another person could not which is Love. I went to donate and to leave a dog my children and i had found on the streets, when i got there i was leaving my donation and i asked a question about this $5 FEE they are charging if you want to leave an animal, i asked to speak to the director of the shelter and when he came out he spoke to me with a rude arrogant attitude and when i started to tell him that there are people leaving animals on the streets because they could not pay the $5 FEE he immediately said to me you either pay the $5 FEE or you can not leave your dog, as soon as i asked him what he just had said he said that i should take my dog somewhere else, then i mentioned Houston SPCA would not treat people so inhumane and {EDWRD PEREZ}the shelter DIRECTOR said, PAY THE FEE or take your stuff and your dog there or take it to animal control. then soon after i went to the main entrance and i was speaking with a young man and young lady that i had seen before, and another man walked out side and did a hand gesture as if i was a nobody and said you either pay the $5 FEE or you can not leave the animal, and then this man slammed the door on my and my kids face. there have been MANY people that have been treated with such hate and disregard for the animals that they are now afraid to help animals in need because they DO NOT trust the people like this man EDWARD PEREZ, many people are questioning where this fee or donations are really going. IF THIS IS A SHELTER WHY ARE THEY SENDING PEOPLE AWAY WITH THE ANIMALS BACK ON THE STREETS IF THEY CAN NOT PAY A FEE? do you consider this to be a HUMANE way of treating those that are trying to help?

well I was trying to help out to adopted a dog and my husband and I was given false information under our name to keep us from adopting, you can rest for sure they don't ever have to worry about us again, I learned my lesson well today, they tried to put the blame on Banfield so I called Banfield right inside there place to catch them in a lie, so they up with some other bogus lie to keep us from getting a dog, I need to find out the head quarters so I can call them

Please pass it along to not support the Humane society. Why support a shelter that kills animals without even attempting to have them adopted out..? And an organization that supports and condones behaviors such as this http://blogs.houstonpress.com/hairballs/2009/12/humane_society_1.php

Please file a complaint against their office and write a letter (certified w/return receipt), to the Human Society Headquarters. This is VERY important for the safety of all animals placed at this branch. Thanks.

I had my dog fixed there. The girls working at the desk when I picked her up were extremely rude! They had told nearly every owner of female animals before me that their pets were in heat (which is an extra $20}. I know for sure when my dog went into heat last and that she was out of heat. When it was my turn they also said mine was in heat, I argued with the girl and she said "look lady, if you want your dog back you will pay the $20!" If they need to charge more for females they jusy need to adjust their prices and stop lying to people. They also need to teach their employees some customer service skills or get new employees!

I too was treated terribly by a worker at this place. I was asking general questions about putting my cat up for adoption and she was very mean with her responses. if I dont know the answer to a question, then im going to ask, and I expect a nice response. they act like they dont want to be there. imagine how they treat the animals. so so sad.

I wish that whoever wrote this complaint would contact me because I have a complaint about the Humane Society that you might have a hard time believing. Estelle Nelson miss_starlady@yahoo.com
