House Of Brides bridesmaid dress

My bridesmaid ordered her dress at the end of January and was told the dress would be in the last week of April. She was told a few days ago that the manufacturer never confirmed her order and that she will not be receiving the dress until the first week of June...my wedding is the second week of June! They told her there was nothing they could do for her and that she'd just have to wait it out and that it was not their fault it was the manufacturer's fault.

Whenever the dress does get here she'll need to have alterations and has already been told by her seamstress and a few others that she's called just to price check that it will probably cost her extra money since they will have to do a last minute alteration. There's also the outside chance that this dress won't make it in time for the wedding and in that case I have no idea what we'll do!

I was hoping this was one part of the wedding preparation I wouldn't have to worry about, but right now it's the only thing on my mind!

I am very unhappy with this company and would not recommend them to anyone!

Definitely avoid! The prices are good I suppose but you're way better off going to an actual store to order your dress. Our of 8 bridesmaid's dresses, only 3 people didn't have an issue with their order.

House Of Brides what a scam!!! buyers beware!

House of Brides website CLEARLY indicates that standard delivery is 8-9 weeks. Rush orders are 7-8 weeks. I ordered my bridesmaid dress 13 weeks out, thinking that if there was a problem, I would still have a cushion. I had tried the dress on in a retail store so I knew the dress would fit perfect. I ordered online becasue it was $40 cheaper than the in-store price. Turns out...not so much. Once you pay for the tax, shipping and the insurance, it was the same price as "in-store", but whatever, I went ahead and orderd it thru them anyway. Make my life just a little easier (so I thought). I ordered the dress and 2 weeks later, I received an email from House of Brides indicating that the "designer"...(not them), REQUIRED an additionl $45 for a RUSH handling fee. When I called HOB and asked them how this would be possible since I ordered it 13 weeks out, they quickly responded that it wans't their fault and that it was "peak wedding season". I said, how would I know that? Nothing on your site mentions that, nor is there a disclaimer (even in small writting) that says that during "peak" season, you should order earlier than their site indicates. Ridiculous. To make matters worse, they won't accept a cancellation unless they deem that the order can't be met in time. They told me I could cancel my order, but they would keep the money- CRAZY (now in the hole $225). Oh, by the way, when I told them their site was in accuarate, missleading and totally unethical, she agreed and said they were "working" on the site as we spoke. (ya right). Anyway, after calling 3 times and emailing a rep 4 times to complain, they finally agreed to cancel my order after I refused to pay an additionl $45. I found an almost identical dress (cuter, actually) on ebay for $60 including shipping, arriving in 3-5 days. Save your money. Pay in store, or call before you place the order to see if its really going to be delivered in the time it says OR will the "designer" require RUSH shipping? Total scam artists, HOB know they can get more money out of you because if they "let" you cancel your order, you then would have to order from someplace else that would take 10 weeks to order as well, so they wait till it's too late to order elsewhere. They offer no apologies, they have a "so what" attitude. When I suggested THEY pay the RUSH fee, they didn't even hesitate with the answer NO. Not even up for discussion. What a way to run a business, right? Save your money ladies. Shop elsewhere!

Ordered bridesmaid dresses from Schaumburg store. When calling to find out delivery date (ordered in February for a 9-1 wear date) never received a call back from anyone. After 3 calls, went in to ask in person what was going on. Was told by Krys the manager that the dresses should have come in on 8-1, it was now 8-2 and she said she would get right on it and see what was happening and call back in the next 2 days. No call back from them. We called store and was told Manager is the only one who can give information about shipping. Well manager hadn't called us back to begin with. Walked into the store (again) on 8-6. After being made to wait half hour (in a completely empty store) Krys comes to talk to us. She goes on her computer and states that the dresses shipped on 8-3! We ask for a tracking number and was told there is none but she can get it. It can take about 24 hours. She will call us with it. We say we dont' receive calls back and would she put it in writing that she will call back the next day. She writes it out and of course doesn't call. She doesn't care about her legitimacy or her word or the clients. She just lies and lies. We called on 8-7 and asked for our consultant Linda to see what was happening with the dresses. She puts us on hold and Krys gets on. We ask for the tracking number. We get put on hold for 20 minutes. She returns to say that the dresses will ship THIS friday (8-10) even though she told us the day before that they already shipped. So she lies and does it so easily and with a smile on her face that it's almost frightening. I am in the process of calling the manufacturer to see what they can tell me about the dresses. With a wear date of 9-1 and dresses not being delivered until AFTER 8-13, there isn't a lot of time to get the dresses altered. We have a large wedding party and 3 out of state bridesmaids and 1 bridesmaid going out of the country. House of Brides charges full price (not a deposit) and doesn't deliver the dresses when they say they will and won't give your money back. If you have already gone here and are getting the run around I would suggest disputing your charge with your credit card company due to non delivery of the item and go somewhere else if you have time. Or contact one of the news stations that have been investigating (ABC is who I have been talking to) Otherwise DON'T GO HERE. JUST DON'T.

House Of Brides - customer service

I called to confirm my bridesmaid dress order with house of brides. The lady on the phone, who was extreamly hard to understand, advised my order would have been final as was 15 days prior that I submitted it. She would not even take my order id no to check the order! I then called back and spoke to the same lady again, advising that they had duplicated one...

House Of Brides terrible experience

I ordered 4 brides maids dresses from House of Brides and paid for the dresses in full via my credit card. After a few days, I received an email that they could not fill the order in time and they were canceling my order. I had given them more than 16 weeks to order the dresses. I then ordered the dresses from a local shop and they were guaranteed in 4 weeks.

After a week, I emailed them and asked them why they hadn't credited my account since they had canceled the order. They said that they wouldn't even process my credit until 30 days. It has now been well over 30 days and they still have not credited my credit card account.

I will contact my credit card company to institute a chargeback, but people should know not to order from this company -- they engage in fradulent activities. They claim to have access to merchandise that they don't have access to and they take your money and do not refund it.

I ordered a bridesmaid dress from this online retailer. It offered the least expensive price but not by much. I received the dress and it had the wrong underlay color. I called customer service and they offered NO help. The dress was only identified by the outer color, which was correct. I had no way of knowing until I received the dress that I had somehow ordered the wrong color! Their policy is no refunds, no exchanges, no customer service, no matter what. This is NOT conducive to ordering apparel. Also, despite sending in my measurements, the dress was ridiculously large. Of course, this I cannot fault the retailer for, but is another reason why buying bridesmaid dresses online with a retailer that does not care about customer satisfaction or business ethics is a bad idea! Pay an extra 15.00 and STAY away from House of Brides!

I have exactly the same story. I ordered 2 bridesmaid dresses which they had shown as available and paid with my credit card. A couple of days later they said they were not available but had taken the full amount from my bank debit card. This was in early July 2010. It is now end of September and I am still waiting for my refund. I have emailed them again and am waiting for their reply.

OMG! SAME THING IS HAPPENING TO ME NOW!

I ordered my bridesmaid dress from them online, rush order was promised dress in 6-7wks. I nvr received any order confirmation. After cpl days I called and was told over the phone they weren't going to be able to meet my event date.

They made me go through hoops and wait for ficticous emails from ppl they said would be processing my refund. I was told it could take 30days as well.

Its been almost 4wks, I just got off phone with them and they still haven't processed my refund. They willn ot provide phone numbers or full n ames of people for me to speak with. I was told and I quote "They're to busy to talk to you."

So, the wedding is just 5wks away now and I had to pay another $230 to a bridal shop 60miles away and bought a different dress the bride agreed to OFF THE RACK!

I have just filed a dispute claim with my credit card company, in hopes of getting my money back. Two thumb down. DO NOT ORDER FROM HOUSE OF BRIDES THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND NOT GIVE IT BACK.

I agree STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY they are absolutely disgusting. I ordered a couture wedding dress from them, paid $4000 and it arrived poorly packaged and incomplete! When i asked them to sort out the issue they refused and put us in blame! Their customer service is none existent and rude. It is not worth the risk, don't make the same mistake we did. I had to pay another $1000 to have someone else correct their mistakes and to make the dress look something like it should of done.
BE AWARE DO NOT ORDER FROM HOUSE OF BRIDES!

House Of Brides scam and cheating

I ordered on-line from House of Brides. I entered all of my information correctly, but after the final submittal of information I realized that all the information was incorrect. The only thing that was correct was my name!

I immediately contacted my credit card company which stated that the charge had already gone through even though the billing address was not correct! They instructed me to see if I could resolve the issue with the company before they took action.

I called House of Brides the next morning and was told by the customer service rep that she could not help me because she could not print out the order until the next day, even though this was an on-line order. She told me that I needed to send an e-mail to the company stating my problem and give them the correct info. When I asked about the problem with their website defaulting to incorrect info, she said that it happens and hopefully they would fix the problem with the e-mail I was to send. Hopefully!

I asked her several times that she would not or could not help me at this time. She said yes and suggested that I call back the next day and maybe they could help me then. She was totally unconcerned that my order was placed with the incorrect billing address, etc.

I have ordered a lot of things on-line and have never encountered this type of problem before and I was blown away by the customer service rep's attitude that this situation was my problem and that they may or may not be able to help me. In this day and age of identity fraud I expect companies to be a little more understanding of a consumer's fears.

If I get no satisfaction today from House of Brides I will definitely cancel my order, and I recommend that no one else bother with them if there is this much trouble getting a reaction or resolution.

This place is NOT reputable! Please do your homework so you're not heartbroken like COUNTLESS brides who trusted them, including myself!
They recently have been found guilty of TAX FRAUD and owe hundreds of thousands of dollars to the IRS. How do you think
they'll afford that?!?! DO NOT SHOP AT ANY of their locations, including the alluring cheap prices on their website! BEWARE!

House Of Brides awful experience

I went to House of Brides for my wedding dress, not knowing any better. I found one that I loved and got measured for it. I am normally a size 10 in regular clothes. Now I know that typically, bridal gowns run small. But they told me when I was measured they told me that I was measuring for a size 18. I was blown away. I told them that I would not under any circumstances be ordering a size 18. I found out 20 minutes later that size 18 is where the 'plus sizes' start, so that would have made the dress cost $300 more. I ended up ordering a size 16 at their insistence. I waited 4 months for my dress to come in. When it did, I tried it on- IT IS GIGANTIC. Now I only have 3 months until my wedding and I am stuck with it. I don't even know if it can be altered properly because it is a corset style and it will be difficult to take in as much as it is needed. It is so big that it can be clipped in the back like they do in the stores when you are trying the dresses on- but this is my wedding dress. I am heartbroken and disgusted that House Of Brides cons women into buying bigger dresses so that the company can make more money in alterations. A friend of mine works as a model for bridal expos and has told me that House of Brides is notorious for taking the original label out of the dress and putting in their own. For example, if the sample dress came in as a size 8, they would take out that tag and put one in that says it is a size 12. So that when they tell suckers like me that they dress they are trying on is a 12, they can make you order a bigger size since you think the one you are trying on is small. They should be ashamed of themselves for doing this to people. As a bride, I have dreamed of my wedding day for a long time and what I would wear. I never thought it would turn out to be such a nightmare situation with my dress. Thanks a lot House of Brides- you are a disgrace.

I put an order for two brides maids dresses through with House of brides and i received an email four days later on April 18th telling me that my order was not going to be processed and a refund would be issued to me. I called on several occasions inquiring as to when exactly this refund would happen and was given a different story each time and this morning the latest story was that i had already received a refund. I called again this evening and was told that i need to request a refund. Honestly, they took my money and didn't give me a product, how is it that i have to REQUEST a refund. Please do not purchase anything from house of brides. Please.

I ordered a bridesmaid dress through House of Brides online on June 8th for an October 1st event. I was originally told that I would be receiving the dress by the end of August. I did not receive the dress until September 27. I called numerous times and left messages and never received a return phone call. I will never order anything from them again!

Do not buy from the scam of a company. I ordered 5 dresses, 2 came in a child's size, their fault, they ordered it wrong. I am now eating the children's dresses plus I have to find 2 dresses off the rack as my wedding is 2 weeks away. they are total ###s and I will do everything in my power to let the world know what scam they are running. Move on, you are not saving any money. BEWARE!

I AM SO DISSAPOINTED BY HOB.
I went to get my dress and my veil yesterday. When I saw the veil I told the lady that that wasn't the veil I ordered. I saw them a picture and they said "Oh you are right, well...sorry". I asked them for a solution and they literally told me there was not solution because it would take them 16 weeks to get me the correct one." I even asked them for the ones in the store, and all she said was that she could not do anything. I asked for the manager and all she did was bringing out a T2 layer white veil, nothing to do with the one I ordered, and offered to take out 1 layer...still I will have to pay for the veil. EXCUSE ME? IS YOUR MISTAKE! YOU ORDERED THE INCORRECT ONE AND I AM THE ONE STUCK WITHOUT THE VEIL? NO COMPENSATION, NO STORE CREDIT AT LEAST, NOTHING!
A store such as this one is a shame to the business! Wedding stores should know about the responsibility they have in their hands. We are spending hundreds of dollars and when they comit a mistake there is no rensposability taken anywhere.
WHAT A SHAME!

Spare yourself and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

I recently purchased a wedding dress for a close friend at House of Brides. They charged me the wrong amount, supposedly cancelled/completed voided the transaction, and then recharged me for what was the wrong amount again. I mentioned to the 3 House of Brides employees who were obviously having a difficult time checking us out, that they should be refunding the tax on the difference as well. They completely ignored me and charged me the wrong amount. Upon giving me the final receipt, they said, "It says a different amount, but don't worry the credit card receipt shows how much you were actually charged. At this point, it's only a $1.50 difference, and the bride to be and I, after speding all Saturday trying dresses on, didn't want to argue for $1.50 as all the House of Brides employees were rushing to go home for the day. Then early Monday morning, I checked my bank account and realized I was double charged, called the bank, and had my friend pick me up from downtown (I had to leave an extremely important all day strategic planning meeting), and drive to Schaumburg to speak with a manager who said, "You didn't have to come all the way here. I would've taken care of it sometime." I made it clear to her that she was going to do everyhing in her power to get this issue resolved ASAP as my bank account was on hold. After pressuring the manager and waiting all day, the manager supposedly faxed the needed information in around 5:00pm. The next day, my account was still on hold, so I called the bank only to find out that nothing was received. So I had to fax in the information 3 times. My account's hold was cleared Wed. afternoon. I was not able to spend a single dollar and had to borrow cash from my co-workers for lunch, etc. We asked for something in return for all the inconvenience they have caused. They offered $100.00, which doesn't even cover the hours of work missed, phone usage calling House of Brides and my bank, gas & mileage (I'm not even talking about actual inconvenience and the discrimination we felt). The manager also promised to e-mail the bride to be and I a copy of the e-mail she sent her supervisor who bluntly stated that she does not want to deal with us, the customers, directly and is only willing to deal with the manager - WHAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THAT! After being offered something that obviously doesn't make up for the inconvenience they have caused the two of us, the bride to be called and spoke with the manager who simply didn't care. She called me right afterwards, crying for 30 minutes at how she doesn't want a wedding anymore. It's supposed to be exciting and happy, but she felt like she's going through hell, being treated like less than trash from House of Brides. I was PISSED OFF, obviously, called and left a voicemail on the manager's line and also left a message with the receptionist who guaranteed that "everything will be take care of and that the manager will call me first thing the next day when she gets in." Half a week passed, and neiter the bride to be nor I have neard from them yet! This is not even half of what we experienced with House of Brides, the worst shopping experience ever!

House of Brides is horrendous to say the least. I called two weeks ago telling them that I had not received the dress which I ordered 2.5 months prior, I asked them if I could put a stop on the dress as I was now pregnant and required a maternity bridesmaid's dress. They said they could and then they told me that a product specialist would call me to switch my order and credit me the amount of the original dress. I never received a call. Now I received an E-mail confirming that they were sending out the original dress. I called and Viann answered the phone saying that there was a record of my telephone conversation 2 weeks ago and my request and that a message had been left for product specialist to call me. I then wrote an E-mail to their Refunds and Info E-mail only to be told that under no circumstances would they refund the dress (although on the phone they deceive and pay lip service to the opposite effect). I told them that I would not be ordering the maternity dress from them and that I would tell everyone what a horrible company they are. They lie, deceive make you think you will receive a refund then tell you well that's not our policy. They won't even consider it for a pregnancy. Not even a congratulations on the fact I was expecting either just a crude E-mail that saying that they have a no refund policy. THEY ARE THE HOUSE OF LIES!

My wedding is a month away and the bridesmaids put april 1st for the wedding date, which is tomorrow. Only 2 girls got their dresses. And hob tells you they can only email corporate to get back to you and they never do. THIS COMPANY SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS. I have gotten hung up on numerous times...and no answers whatsoever. I wish i would have researched before ordering.

This place is an absolute nightmare. I am so distraught over this! I ordered two dresses for a wedding I'm in (yes two) and they don't have any record of either purchases. Not only that, but I've been calling/emailing for 2 and a half months as of today. I called a number I found today and it said "press 1 to check the status of an order". So I did, and it said "this voicemailbox is full". What kind of place is this? I'm questioning if this is some kind of a sham that does not even really exist as an actual business. As a school teacher who does not have $275 to just throw away, I am completely angry that a company can be so insensitive especially today. SAVE YOURSELF AND YOUR BRIDESMAIDS! DO NOT SHOP HERE!

House Of Brides bad service

I ordered, on-line, a Maid of Honor dress for my December 1, 2008 wedding from House of Brides. I placed the order on 9/4 and called in October to inquire as to the status. I was told that they can not check the status of the order until after Nov 14, so please call back then and they will call the manufacturer and expedite the order. I called today and was told that the manufacturer is shipping the dress to them and then they will ship it to me. I reminded them this for a Dec 1 wedding in Connecticut and that my M.O.H. will need time for alterations. They would not give me any more information. I asked to speak to a supervisor, several times and was told that it is their policy that the supervisor does not speak to customers on the phone. I would have to send an e-mail and wait for a reply. I begged with the "customer service rep" to please suggest how I could resolve this and she told me that they will TRY to get the dress to me before the wedding. They would not expedite the shipment, provide any tracking numbers, would not put a manager or supervisor on the phone, and I am left waiting on a reply from their supervisor, "Joan". Obviously I can not use this dress after Dec 1 and am now in the position of having to look for a new dress, possibly not getting a refund, or even receiving the dress I already bought.

I'm sure if I tried to cancel this order I would be financially penalized by House of Brides. So, I am getting married in just over a week and have no M.O.H. dress and really didn't expect this stress and anxiety. All I wanted was a shipment confirmation. They would not provide it as they did not have one.

My advice to anyone who shops at the House of Brides, is BE CAREFUL. Do not assume that your sales person knows how to properly measure you. Be sure of your own measurements, and look carefully at the size chart before any dress is ordered. They do not guarantee the fit, issue any refunds, or allow any cancellations or exchanges. They require full payment up front, and after they sell you a dress, they really do not care whether you are satisfied or not.

In May, 2008, my daughter and I went to House of Brides, Schaumburg, IL to look for a mother-of-the-bride dress. I was measured by a sales lady and based on her measurements of my chest, waist and hips, she determined that I was in between a size 4 and size 6. The sales lady was sure the size 4 would fit through the hips, but would be too large on top. I paid $250 for the entire cost of the dress at time of ordering. I was not given a copy of the store policy or even verbally told that H.O.B does not guarantee the fit of the dress. I did mistakenly believe that H.O.B would guarantee that my dress could at least be zipped up and be somewhat wearable. I do understand that minor alterations are to be expected as no dress in any given size will fit perfectly. I also understand that alterations are not free.

I picked up the dress 8 weeks later, and when I tried on the dress, I was unable to pull the dress on over my hips or zip it up. The bottom of dress was an entire size too small. The top of the dress fit perfectly, not requiring alteration, however, the bottom half was at least 3 inches too small. When I returned to H.O.B and was re-measured, the sales lady announced to me that I had gained 2 inches in my hips. I told her that was not true, I had not gained any weight, and in fact I had lost 2 pounds in the last 2 months which was honestly the truth. The sales lady measured me again 3 times and refused to note on her paper that I was the same size. No amount of explaining or reasoning with the manager did any good. The manager told me, "We are not responsible that you gained 2 inches in your hips, " and her parting comment to me was, "Well, you are hippy."

I am most disappointed that I trusted that sales lady. She did not tell the truth or accept responsibility for her error. Perhaps if admitted her mistake, her job would be in jeopardy. House of Brides takes your money at time of ordering and will not accept responsibility for an error. They do not value their customers or care about negative word of mouth or complaints on any forum.

House Of Brides deceptive sales tactics-poor customer service

Avoid at all possible costs! Horrible
I ordered my 5 bridesmaid's dresses from hob over nine months before my wedding and was told there was plenty of time, no need for a rush order. I paid over $250 for each dress, in full, up front, and explained one dress had to be shipped to arizona for alterations, as bridesmaid was attending college in phoenix. I told them wedding was two weeks before actual date, figuring this would give me plenty of time to ship the dress and arrange for local alterations. Starting about eight weeks before the actual wedding, I stopped by and called repeatedly, only to be told not to come in again, they would notify me. Three weeks before the wedding I started checking every day. When I called in tears three days before the actual wedding date, I was advised dresses had finally come in, although the consultant yelled at me in front of the whole store, that they had been sitting at their dock over a week. Bridesmaid had to fly in early for alterations as there was no choice but to have hob do the alterations due to the delay. She literally finished her final exams and boarded the plane for chicago 2 hours later. One dress was ordered in a size 8, arrived as a size 2. Bridesmaid was a size 4. Dresses had a corset back and even though we loosened it as much as we could, I still couldn't get the zipper up!. Alterations were expensive. And the too small dress split down the back seam half way through the reception! Consultants are rude. Alterations staff are worse, like I purposely ordered the dress too small and waited until the last possible moment for alterations. They don't call, they don't follow up, wouldn't track the order, and every little thing is an added expense. All dresses were paid in full over nine months before the wedding, and there I was having to pick up the dresses the day before the wedding. I would suggest making your own dress out of a potato sack before you even try this place! Horrible, horrible, horrible.

I disagree completely. I scheduled my 1st fitting on October 16th where the tailor Joanna pinned it to fit me. I am 5'2 and needed the length to be adjusted. I also requested to have a bussle put in as well. On the day of my 1st fitting I had my mom, sister and Aunt with me. The tailor Joanna was so rude to my mom she didn't come back to the 2nd fitting. I scheduled my 2nd fitting to be on Nov 13th...a MONTH after the 1st fitting where everything was to be adjusted. I put my dress on and NOTHING was done! I asked Joanna why nothing was done. All she could say is that she works with so many brides and doesn't remember me. I told her that's not my problem. My wedding is in 2 weeks and I live 2 1/2 hrs away and need to have the dess completed NOW. Joanna never took responsibiilty nor appologized. She just yelled at me saying that she has a lot going on and that I don't understand! My sister talked to the supervisor who was very unapplogietic and said there was nothing they could do. After taking some initiative in the matter the manager brought out the card that Joanna used to take notes from the 1st appointment. The supervisor asked Joanna why the alteration weren't done after a month has gone by. Joanna only said she doesn't remember and started to yell somoe more. By this time I was freaking out because I couldn't come back to Chicago to get my dress fixed. They wanted me to come back a week later...a week before my wedding and promised it would be done by then. Thank goodness for my sister who made them work on my dress right then and there and said we would come to the store the next day to try it on. They made sure to add that it is a risk coming in when the tailor is not there on a Sunday and can't make any more adjustments. NO [censored]! They screwed it up and I had to take the risk. I went in the next day to try it on. The woman came over with my dress in a back and said "Here you go!" I said wait a min...I haven't tried my dress on since the alterations and I was told that I could. Gloria took a deep sigh and seemed annouyed to give any kind of customer service. She went so far to say that they are really busy and wasn't sure if she would help me. I said to her" Is this inconviencing you?" She said no...and eventually helped me. I was by myself and had to put my dress on and off with no help from her...who said she would help. I'm calling in the manager to try to get a refund on the alterations...but DO NOT GO THERE...THEY SHOULD BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS WITH THE LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY HAVE FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. i AM GIVING THEM ONLY 1 STAR AND THAT'S BECAUSE I LOVE MY DRESS...THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE THERE WAS AWFUL AND WOULDN'T WISH IT ON ANYONE

I HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE AT HOUSE OF BRIDES!
THE PEOPLE WHO COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS PLACE, ARE THE KIND OF PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE
NEED THE CONSULTANTS TO BE THEIR SERVANTS AND PLEASE THEM IN EVERYTHING THEY NEED. YES YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT, BUT YOU CAN'T BE THERE ALL DAY. THEY HAVE MORE CUSTOMERS TOO NOT JUST YOU! YOU HAVE TO TAKE A REASONABLE TIME FOR YOUR SHOPPING NOT 3-4 HOURS. THEY HAVE A LIMIT OF 2 OR 3 HOURS BUT NOT MORE THAN THAT. THERE ARE SOME BRIDEZILLAS OUT THERE.
I OVERHEARD A BRIDE WHO WANTED THE CONSULTANT TO DRESS HER AND UNDRESS HER WHEN SHE
HAD ALL OF HER FRIENDS INSIDE THE ROOM WITH HER. SHE WANTED A VEIL AND TIARA AND A GLASS OF WATER, SHE TOUGHT SHE WAS THE PRINCESS OF THE MOMENT OR SOMETHING! NOW THAT BRIDE WAS NEXT TO MY ROOM, I COULD TELL RIGHT AWAY WHEN I LOOKED AT HER FACE THE KIND OF PERSON SHE WAS. HIGH NOSE, KNOW IT ALL. SHE WANTED THE CONSULTANT TO BRING HER ALL THE VEILS SHE COULD TRY. SHE WAS CRAZY. SHE WAS THERE FOR A LONG TIME TOO! MY CONSULTANT WAS REALLY NICE AND NOT PUSHY WHATSOEVER. YOU JUST HAVE TO BE NICE TO BE TREATED NICE. AS FOR PRICING, THESE ARE DESIGNER DRESSES AND ARE SPECIAL ORDERED NOT JUST SOLD AS IS LIKE DAVID'S BRIDAL. THEY ACTUALLY MAKE THEIR OWN DRESSES, THEY ARE NOT BY DESIGNERS. THAT IS THE BIG DIFFERENCE. NOW THE CONSULTANTS TELL YOU ALL THE COSTS AND YOU DECIDE IF YOU WANT TO GET THE DRESSES FROM THEM OR NOT. THEY ARE NOT FORCING YOU TO. MAYBE YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE BRIDEZILLAS WHO PANIC ABOUT ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING THAT MAY/MAY NOT BE WRONG. GOD BLESS YOU ALL BRIDEZILLAS. BUT DON'T BLAME IT ON THE CONSULTANTS AT HOUSE OF BRIDES.

House Of Brides no guarantees

My advice to anyone who shops at the House of Brides, is BE CAREFUL. Do not assume that your sales person knows how to properly measure you. House Of Brides horrible experience

I ordered a dress from House of Brides' website on March 20th. When I ordered it they sent me an email saying it will have to be rush delivered for my wear date. I sent an email back asking what the process was. No one responded back to that email and I let it go because the 'wear date' I put was flexible so I didn't mind - the wedding was actually July 12 in Nigeria. The wear date I put was June 14th because my sister was supposed to travel and help me carry it for a friend to Nigeria. Now, this date like I said was flexible because she hadn't bought her ticket yet. Bear in mind I had placed an earlier order of 6 dresses order which I had no problem with. I received the first order of 6 bridesmaids dresses May 26th 2008. I waited 14 days for the second order, and didn't receive anything. I called their number [protected] and no one was available and I kept getting recordings. I then went on the website for a live chat and was consequently told that because authorization wasn't given for the rush they never ordered the dress from the designer! Imagine them keeping my money for 3 whole months and having a "processed" status on my order even though they knew they hadn't ordered the dress? And no one bothered to tell me. Meanwhile the only solution for me was to get a refund. Forget that I had to explain to the bride that one of the dresses couldn't make it. So, they gave me an email joan AT houseofbrides.com to request my refund. I have emailed them 3 times in 3 weeks, called their number, and been waiting for a refund or even an acknowledgment of one and still no response.

I sent a complaint to the better business bureau and also sent emails to Fox and CBS in Chicago. I'm not going to stop there, I'm going down the list of TV stations and even Oprah! Just anybody who can shut them down. It's so ridiculous for them to think they can act this way and get away with it.

Sounds familiar. This Company is legendary for its incompetence. As far as I can see only bankruptcy will put the matter right. Hasten the day when The House of Brides no longer exists . Or perhaps it will be taken over by the good guys.
So may broken promises, so many tears, so many disappointments. It's shameful. Let's hope the matter gets the attention of someone with the muscle and media coverage necessary to hold the Directors of this Company to account.
