Hotpoint poor quality appliance

My washing machine is still under warranty and has broken already 3 times in total. I got a rude service guy out only to accuse me that I have damaged the machine. He did not open the machine only drained the hose to find a coin. It just shows what a poor quality appliance HOTPOINT.CO.UK sells to the consumer.

Hotpoint rude engineer

I had an engineer booked to reolace the seal on my washing machine door, when the engineer arrived with the new door seal ! he looked at my old seal and told me he wasnt authorised to put in the new one. However i told him thats what he was there for and that i would ring domestic and general and while i was on the phone to them he walked out the house! I told the woman on the phone what he did and she put me on hold to ring him, and when she came back she told me that she asked him to come back as thats what he was supposed to do and she said he told her he didnt have time, so what do we actually pay our insurances for? so she gave me the complaints phone number but no one answers the bloody phone.

Hotpoint bad news

Hotpoint are bad..mmm-k!

I bought my new home under 2 and a hlaf years ago...brand new, with 5 brand new hotpoint kitchen appliances...being an oven, hob, frdge freezer, dish washer and washer/dryer. Needless to say, the fridge freezer is the only item that ever functioned correctly and still works. I paid for all my warranties etc etc, for the last 2 and a half years. In that time, they have failed to fix my hob that does not light correctly, my oven which has broken functions, and as for the washer/dryer and dish washer...well, here begins the saga...

* Washer/dryer...broke down regularly...they never once came to repair it because I did not have the extended warranty number...why!...because they never sent the documentation that i reminded them they need to send, about a dozen times. So I married, and my wife and I spend 500 pounds on a new john lewis washer dryer...which by the way, is brilliant. So thats 500 pounds on my list so far, plus 100 pounds worth of warranty down the toilet.

* Next...the dish washer : never worked in the first place. Had to get repairmen in the week it was bought with the newly built home. 1 day fo work missed. 2 months later, the machine breaks down. a month passes, an engineer comes and gets it running. Day 2 of work missed.

3 months later, breaks down again. This time, repairman comes 2 months later. Day 3 missed.

a year passes, the machine breaks AGAIN. Dishwasher goes 3 months out of action. Tally of non-use now at 6 months, at 50 quid a year warranty...100 quids worth flushed. 2 months later, machine breaks down again. 2 months pas, day 4 of work missed. Machine lasts 3 months. Machine breaks AGAIN. This time, it takes 4 months for a repair man to arrive, he doesn't have the parts...needs new motor and heater...at least, and day 5 of work missed. Appointment 3 weeks later...he comes on the wrong day and I am not home. New apointment 2 weeks later...he gets the wrong day AGAIN. A week later, would you believe, hotpoint's idiot engineer fails to show a 3rd time. I have wasted 3 more days of work, I am furious...8 days work now missed. 4th time...he turns up, leaves, I switch ont he machine and it leaks in the ciruitry and blows all the fuses in my flat. Following week...he fails to show AGAIN...another missed day of work.

I go nuts at the services guy on the phone, he gets a different engineer to come that evening. He orders anpother new part, and a new appointment...today...I get a phone call at 10:30 saying he is not coming again...same ### as before. I am utterly furious. 5 missed appointments...10 days of work missed, and machine inoperable now for 7 and a half months.

In all that time, hotpoint are refusing to replace machines as per the contract, because they have to be written-off as irrepairable by the engineer...is that some sort of sick joke ? I have argued that 7 and a half months of NO use, and 2 and a half years of breakdowns, and the manufacturers themselves completely fail to get the damn thing working...what constitutes as irrepairable ?!?! The engineers state that they are not actually allowed to write-off a machine nad hoptpoint will not replace any. I record them on my cctv system stating that fact. I am now taking Hotpoint to small claims court :

* 10 missed work days : 2000
* Warranties for 5 machines for 2 and a half years, all of which contracts have been broken by hotpoint : 750
* New washer/dryer : 500
* New dishwasher : 300
* Court costs 150

***TOTAL sued for : 3700 pounds.
I will NEVER EVER EVER buy a hotpoint appliance ever again, and quite frankly, I want to do very bad things that bunch of utter ****s

Hotpoint customer service

i bought a hotpont washing maching from them and reported it faulty within 24 hours. they first insisted it had to be repaired but after a heated argument they agreed to deliver a new one. the delivery drivers then ripped my kitchen flooring. this has been going on since march 2011 and its now june and we are only now getting an offer from their insurance company for the floor and they are saying we have to pay towards it as the floor wasnt new. i tried to get help from comets managing director but he coulnt care less and was told by a person in his office that as it had gone to the insurance company, they would not get involved further. this has been the most annying frustrating experience of my life and i wouldnt use this company again if my life depended on it. in the end, they damaged my floor so why the hell should i have to pay a single penny towards getting it replaced. we are not trying to rip them off. we even got someone round to inspect the floor and make out a full insurance quote to show we were being upfront. didnt make any difference.

if i can offer one piece of advice to anyone thinking of making a purchase...DONT USE COMET, THEY ARE USELESS AND COUNDT CARE LESS ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS

We bought a HotPoint Washing Machine on 3 May 2009, the machine seemed very loud when spinning and we decided to call the Comet to send somebody to have a look at it. The engineer arrived and told us there was nothing wrong with the machine, that it was the way they make them these days and that was it. OK we said, we'll have to get used to it. It's been couple of weeks since that and the machine really sounds awfull and seems noiser and noiser, high pitched noise when spinning no matter on what spin [protected] spm) it is. We are expecting a baby and I can't imagine listening to that all the time. The machine is in a separate room behind a closed door and still the noise is terrible. It is positioned correctly. The little vibrations (not sure if it's the noise itself) are causing our wall to crack all around the room where the machine is. I have tried to call the service at the Comet but they must be very well trained there as I always seem to lose the battle.

Hotpoint customer service/engineer repair

I've had a larder freezer from hotpoint model fza84g for three yrs cost almost £300. Stopped freezing food 5 weeks ago now and since i took out extended warranty with domestic & general i thought all i got to do is call them out.. Hmmm that's where i was wrong i was provided number for hotpoint/indesit repair service and the first time call engineer arrived has agreed defrosted back of freezer then put it back together and said it was done allow 48 hrs for fan to start circulating cold air 48hrs later and still not freezing so called out engineer again only this time for the slot to be cancelled and re-arranged the 3rd time engineer arrived not much communication ordered parts so that put me into week 3 has each call took another week before they can fit you in at same time 4th appointment was made only for indesit to cancel the slot the morning the engineer was due to call taking the piss or what? I got told there wasn't a trained engineer on duty! Yh can you believe it? 5th appointment was made engineer phoned in sick so slot cancelled again! Can't believe it 5 weeks in total without a freezer and a family to feed.. When complaining to domestic & general all they said you will have to wait till friday! So i wouldn't advise anyone to purchase a policy from domestic & general cos they only use manufacturers and refused to provide another company for me to use to get the freezer repaired quicker. Friday came which is today 12/11/10 wow engineer turned up come with kit/parts only to open the kit for it not to have enough seal in for him to complete the repair so i now have to wait until next thursday for the parts and engineer to call back! Disgraceful they don't put customer satisfaction anywhere i have now ordered a new freezer that will be here for tuesday and cancelled my policy with domestic & general and i will never purchase another hotpoint/indesit product again and i wouldn't recommend either hotpoint/indesit or domestic & general to anyone! I can't believe it has taken this amount of time and the issue still remain unsolved! I filed complaint with domestic & general received one call back relating to complaint and promised another and still to this day i wait for the returned phone call. Extended warranties are a waste of cash keep your money and if the product breaks just replace it that's my advice to anyone reading this article.

I paid £11 fee to get a question anaswered reference my hotpoint washing machine but after I paid the £11 I was redirected to another payment page to subscribe to a monthly tariff which I did not want. I exited the page and went back into your website to get my question answered but was continually put through to a payment page before I would be redirected to an technical expert.

Bottom line is that I have paid £11 with no access to a technical expert and would like a refund please

I've also been having problems with Hotpoint fridge. It was 16 months old when it froze up. Hotpoint advised taking a warranty and engineer repaired it. 6 months later it froze again and engineer said it was faulty insulation. Domestic and General will replace the fridge but I have to pay delivery charge, removal charge and fitting charge. Plus I have to pay the rest of the contract up front. I think in total a charge of £150 plus the months I have been paying a warranty of £15 a month. Hotpoint don't want to know but I think a fridge that was only 16 months old when it went wrong was not fit for purpose in the first place. I think a company who doesn't think that was unacceptable doesn't deserve to have any customers. The telephone number is a premium charge so it's impossible to talk to anyone for less than £1 a call. Hotpoint you don't deserve our custom and you won't be getting mine in the future!

I agree about indesit customer service being appalling. I tried to book an engineer and all they wanted to do was sell me a policy, I explained I only wanted a one off repair of my Hotpoint double oven and still the "customer service" person kept pushing this policy at a reduced monthly rate of £13.49. I said I would think about it and call back and he very abruptly terminated the call. I was astounded by this rudeness and have emailed a complaint three times now with no response whatsoever. I think they have nothing but contempt for their customers and will avoid ever purchasing a hotpoint or anything to do with indesit in future. I am only glad I did not fall for taking out a policy

Well Where to start... I have 3 appliances all hotpoint... washing machine... tumble dryer and fridgefreezer, I have owned these for 5 years and in that time i have had to call out an engineer at least 4 Times a year for each item...This week all of my appliances have broken... the tumble dryer is now working... but for how long... the engineer came out yesterday to fix my washing machine... he told my partner it was all fixed... on my arrivel home from a very long day at work i go to put a wash load on and all the electrics in the house blow... my partner being an electriction then had alook at washing machine to find the engineer hadnt fixed the new motor on properly... the reason i have cover on my appliance's is because my partner doesnt want to come from work and fix things hes doing allday... after speaking to an adviser on the phone i was told the earliest someone could get to me is friday... what... your engineer didnt do his job properly and now im the one who has to go without... shocking... i thought im not having this so phoned back to speak to a manager but convinently no one was avaliable... but a very nice lady called marian has manage to get the engineer that came out yesterday to come back today...So more time off work for myself... lets hope he fixes it properly this time.. as for the fridgefreezer im not even going to bother calling them out.. i will just do extra shifts at work to replace it myself... but i certainly wont be replacing any of applience's for a hotpoint again.

I bought an indesit fridge freezer from comet, less then 6 months old it stopped working. Contacted indesit 5 engineers and 10 weeks later I have been told it will need to be replaced. But only if I can produce a receipt and email it to them. I have done this called again today they don't have the email. The service I have received is awful beyond belief. Never a call back, rude, unhelpful, and useless. I will never purchase an indesit item ever again! Disgusted!

Oh boy! Now I'm worried, I also have a Hotpoint appliance(Washing Machine) under extended warranty. The bearings have corroded in the drum and I advised them of the noise the machine was making and they agreed that the bearings was the likely cause (I have experienced failed bearings on a previous machine). When the engineer arrived he checked the model # agreed that the bearings had failed, he then said he would check his van for the parts and lo and behold he had not got them with him? When you report a fault surely they should make sure they have the parts with them before wasting their time and yours with a wasted visit, is that too much to ask. You could have stayed in for an entire day waiting for the engineer to call (anytime between 8am and 6pm. I now have to wait for a another week and another engineer to carry out the repairs, I am not happy with this standard of service and I am now dreading the other engineer's visit judging by other people's experiences.

Hotpoint very bad customer/engineer service

I bought a Hotpoint/Creda double oven cooker in October 2009. On the morning of 25th April 2010 while cooking breakfast, I momentarily moved away from the cooker and there was an almighty bang. The grill had exploded shooting sparks and debris across the kitchen. Lucky I or another member of the family was not standing infront of the appliance. I telephoned Hotpoint the next day and gave them the model number, serial number and explained exactly what had happened. They were very apologetic and would send an engineer out that Thursday. The engineer arrived, took one look and said "You need a new grill". Bowl me over, I never realised that I said, and he just said that he would have to order one and return when he had it. The following Thursday (11 days without the grill), he arrived (hooray), 2 hours late and put in the new grill. I asked him about the automatic timer on the main oven and he tried to get this to work, but had problems and said that he would have to order a part for this and booked me a slot, which I was happy with, now that I had a working grill and could cook decent food. Bye to the engineer. Cooker switch on, grill not working. I phoned customer service and they tried to contact him but he was not answering his phone. They said that they could only book him in for the 13 May (18 days without a grill). I take the day off work, to be here when he arrived and recieve a phone call from Hotpoint to say that he wont be coming as the part he has is not functional and they could only book me in for the following Thursday, totalling 25 days until this is resolved. HOTPOINT ARE A SHAM, THEY SHOULD GET THEIR STAFF RE-TRAINED AND NOT FOB PEOPLE OFF WITH A 3 DAY CALL OUT WHEN THEY DONT HAVE PARTS.

Having been a Hotpoint engineer I can confirm the first the engineer would know of your job was probably the day before. If they had guessed on parts and got it wrong would have delayed your initial call. The guy was just doing his job for often ungrateful customers such as you. Probably switched off to wingers and moaners like you. I am...
get a life its a ###ing grill. Not an MR scanner or something life threatening.
Glad I work for myself, can put things in perspective. Oh and Hotpoint was probably one of the best companies I have worked for.

Hotpoint overcharged

I bought a hotpoint RLA84P fridge on 14/06/2017. Shortly after the guarantee expired the motor ran continuously and the contents froze. I paid £89.98 for a Hotpoint engineer to come out. He replaced the thermostat which did not correct the fault. He then thought it was a blockage which he cleared. The fridge worked for a while and then I realised the motor was running continuously again and food was freezing. The repair is covered by a 12 month guarantee so I rang for an engineer to call but I have to pay £99.98 up front and if the engineer agrees it is the same fault I will get a refund. I am not willing to risk losing any more money. I feel the fridge has an inherent fault and it is not fit for purpose.

My washing machine broke down on Monday the 16th of December 2017.
I called the Hotpoint Repair Service to book an engineer to come and repair it.
I pay for an insurance for my appliances, so thought this would be a breeze.
The engineer was booked to come on Thursday the 18th of December, I waited in all day for them to arrive. It was getting close to 16.30 when I tried to call them as I had not had a call to say they were on their way (they would normaly do this) I tried to get through to their repair line for an hour only to be told I was waiting in their queue. I managed to spek to an agent just before 18.00 who told me that the day for the engineer to arrive had been changed to Saturday the 22nd of December. I was assured that thhe engineer would deffinately come and the agent said she would leave a voice mail on the engineers phone to call and confirm this was so.
Saturday came, no engineer in sight, and no one at the end of the line apart from "your call is in a queue" for 30 mins, then to be told "these offices are now closed" I have wasted 2 whole days leading up to Christmas, along with time and money spent on the phone. As I'm going away for the festive period, and will have nearly 3 weeks worth of washing to be done via the launderette, wasting my time and money...
Not a happy person.

I purchased a floor model of a Hotpoint washing machine and was chraged delivery ($25.00) installation ($49.00) and a hose charge of $14.95 at the time of billing (as described toe by the salesman and manager). I was only told this was the last one on the floor --not that it was a discontinued model.
When the delivery was made, I was told that the hook up was not a standard hook up --so the delivery men left the machine and told me that I would have to get someone to install it- which I did at an additional cost to me of $60.00
After numerous calls to P.C. Richard I was able to speak with the saleman but when I requested to speak with the manager I was constantly told he was not available.

Not only was I never reimbursed for the installation cost; but I just received a bill for an additional $.83
The machine washes the clothes but I must never pack the machine as the water level at "supersize wash" just covers a medium size wash.

P.C.Richard may be a large company but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.
I am a former customer service rep and believe that the customer should always leave satisfied ----well I'm not.

sincerely

i purchased a hotpoint fridge/freezer from a catalogue 2 years ago and got up this morning to a funny smell and it turns out the whole fridge freezer had totally packed in...

i am not happy at all and very annoyed that this has happened especially this time of year as i had stocked up the fridge and freezer with food for xmas and it was around £100 quid i had in the freezer and now i have not got enough money to go out and get a freezer or even buy a turkey, really really pissed off..

i hope that u will take this complaint on board and maybe give me my money back for the food that has been wasted that was in the fridge freezer.

look forward to hearing from you regarding this complaint.

Hotpoint - repair

I have a 18MTH old top of the range hotpoint washing machine £700, I am absolutely appalled that this machine has completely shut down after just a short time. The repair guy came out without the parts to fix it which again I find incredible especially when they asked me on the phone the model of the machine and what the problem was, what kind of workman...

Hotpoint rustie machine

i have always had hot point applyances and as i had my kitchen re done last year i wanted all new applances, i bought washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, fridge.
after about 8 months i noticed rust on the front of my machine, when i looked closer it was in fact rust in the rim where the door closes i think it is the design of the door front, i didnt take out extra cover as i had my last machine for 10years and never had any problems, when i phoned hotpoint customer services, they were not intersted at all and said they have never heard of this complaint happening to any one else, and there was nothing they could do.
i have now found that my dishwasher and fridge have the same problem, rust in side the dishwasher, and on the door of my fridge,
so it must be a problem with the finishing i have the grafite grey finish.
there not 2 years old yet and im very dissepointed with hotpoint and will not be buying that make again.

Very difficult to speak to anyone - endless loops and numbers that don't work.

Extremely long wait time.

Live chat doesn't work.

Over a month wait for an engineer despite website saying next day service!

I purchased this machine in June 2017 and registered the guarantee. I can now see bubbles of rust beneath the powder and conditioner drawer. As the machine is just over 2 years old is this acceptable please?
