GEICO they are so unprofessional.

I got into a pretty bad accident a while back with another person who used Geico. Now lets not forget that I also use Geico for my insurance. I have used Geico for a long time and was truly blindsided by the way I was being treated. Because the other person had Geico, they were extremely aggressive and making me out to be the bad guy. When I tried to explain to them that I was a customer of theirs they did not seem to care and just kept on with their tenacious questioning and attitude. I was only looking for a little bit of sympathy from them considering I was just in a accident. Their aggressive tactics and blatant disrespect left me with a bad taste in my mouth. You don’t bully one of your own customers so that the outcome becomes what is in your best financial interest. The whole experience was so bad that I refuse to use them anymore. I know there are more of you out there who have probably experienced the same if not worse behavior from Geico. Please let me know. They are so unprofessional. Geico let down a very good customer and I am not going to take this lying down.

GEICO stay away from this one

Auto Accident [protected] Hwy 82 w. Accident report by DPS shows her discription where vehicles were and what happen just before impack is incorrect & date of her report is dated [protected].? I returned to the crash sight on the 13th and took photos of the point of impack. All evidence shows that my truck was fully stopped 9ft off the e.bound lane & completly on the shoulder & dirt. As an investigater she does not know how to read real evidence. The photos will also show that the other truck that the officer claims I hit was in the EB traveling lane vered to the shoulder and when he saw me on the shoulder as the rear tire tracks show a sec.before his truck hit mine so hard it knocked my truck back 15 yrds or so and his left. front tire went up an over my left front of the windshield roof brace. My own auto carrier GEICO is going solely what the DPS accident report states and are assuming liability, without investigating the scene of the accident. If and when this is properly investigated. As for as my passing on left unsafe, the solid yellow line was on the EB side, I had clearance till I saw lights getting big & coming fast. What the county did not have there was a sign saying hill & curve ahead.I had tried to talk to Geico before making a decision on who is liable, but they would not listen. How can anyone make any decision without first considering all of the evidence, you cannot do that!

GEICO refuse to pay for damages to car

I was involved in a traffic accident on July 18, 2011. I had pulled into the hwy and collided with a truck that was driving well over the speed limit. My car was totaled, his truck had only a dent in the side. We both had only liability thru geico. Even though I had a witness to the accident stop and admit to police and to geico she was speeding and that he had just pasted her, geico refused to fix either of our vehicles. I filed suit in district civil hoping they would settle with me. The other driver filed a counterclaim. Geico settled with him right away but he still wanted money for his pain and suffering even though he never went to the doctor or hospital. End result was geico had to hire us both and attorney, gave him money and when we went to court the judge dismissed his counterclaim and ruled in my favor. This is one time geico didn't win.

exactly what cartblance said...they could be going 200 mph but if you fail to yield, your ultimately at fault. goes the same with rear ending someone. the person in the back is getting the ticket regardless of the reason.

like it or not, and you probably wont, its your fault for not yielding. its the way the rules of the road are. period

When merging, you must yield. Speeding or not, I can see how they denied your claim.

GEICO 50/50

Hi, this auto accident happened in front of my home 719 Westbank Expressway on June 14, 2011 around 1:00pm. I live on a service road of a highway. I have two driveways in front of my home and a side driveway on the side of my home. I was pulling forward on to the service road and someone was in front of my home standing outside of there vehicle looking at there cell phone. I pulled to the end of the drive way going forward. I looked right then left. There was no traffic. I pulled out onto the service road. Within fifteen feet of me pulling on to the service road the guy that was sitting in my drive way was in my passenger front fender. I saw something black coming at me my car was stopped seconds before he hit my fender. His back bumper went into my fender between the tire and the door. So he hit me behind my passenger front tire. My car was all the way on the expressway they guy that hit me he was half way in my drive way and half way on the service road. The officer that wrote the report said it was no ones fault. How is this when he backed up into me? After he hit me he pulled forward and then I backed up into my drive way. I got out of my vehicle and walked over to the front of my car and they guy kept saying man where did you come from I did not see you. I tried to look into the truck but the windows where to dark to see into the vehicle. Why didn’t the officer write a ticket for his windows being to dark? I called the police on my phone and walked over to his driver door and he had pored a beer out onto the ground. The officer came and asked for info. I told him what happen. He came back to me and had a smile on his face and said the other guy said that I hit him on purpose. The officer said that he will write it up as know ones fault. I asked him why didn’t he get a DWI? The officer said that he did not smell it on his breath but, he did see the open container in the vehicle. So why didn’t the officer write up a ticket for open container? I would like these questions answered in writing and mailed to me. The dent on my fender says everything. If you look at it you can see that I could not have hit him. He had to pull forward for us to move out of the street. One thing I don’t understand is the officer said that he will let the insurance company handle who is a fault. I want these answered in writing so that I can turn this into my insurance company. So by leaving this accident up to the insurance company now they want to put me at half fault on what they call a 50/50. So if they do a fifty fifty shey don't have to pay out claims. This is a scam and they should be a law suit agains them. I don’t think it should be left for an insurance company to decide on these things. The officer was there and saw what happened. That’s all he had to do what write it in the report and write tickes and he did nothing.

that is not true at all. the police report is certainly taken into consideration, but is not the bible. it is ALWAYS the insurance companies that determine liability for the accident. the police can state their opinion, but it is ultimately the decision of the claims examiner. the police report is recorded information, evidence, and nothing more. findings are not solely based on the police report. they also take into consideration both parties statements, scene photos, vehicle damages, witness statements, etc. not saying this is the case, but the damage in your photo could have occurred if you were moving forward and sharply turning right, or reversing and sharply turning left, striking a corner of a stationary vehicle. im not saying things didnt happen the way you say they did, just trying to show you that what you have is evidence, not proof. looking at the scene photo below, it is also entirely possible you were pulling forward out of the driveway on the right side of the picture, while the other vehicle was backing out of the driveway/parking lot in the front of the building at the same time, making this an event where both parties contributed to the accident. just saying, its not so cut and dry.

probably the main reason why they called it a 50/50 is because when pulling out of the driveway, you have to yield to traffic. at the same time, someone backing into someone is at fault because of basically the same principle.
it isnt the job of an insurance adjuster to determine the cause of the accident. they are going to go off of the info recieved via police report and make educated decisions off of it.
as much as it may suck, it is what it is. they based the findings off of the police report.

GEICO opportunity fraud

This is to inform you that Geico Life Insurance/ Life Quotes is not paying their employees. They are lying about the pay plan and completely misrepresenting their opportunity. I don't understand why nothing has been done about this earlier. See copy of email below.

To Whom It May Concern:

This is my resignation from GEICO Insurance affiliate/ Life Quotes. Per our conversation, I want to restate my opinion of your appalling business tactics. Let me first summarize my complaints:
1. You stated in your advertisement for the sales position that it pays '$23 per hour'. THIS IS COMPLETELY MISLEADING. The real pay is '$23/ hour of Talk Time', of which on any given shift an agent is working, 'talk time' is usually only half of the time worked. For example, if I work a 8 hour shift (of which I must be logged in and in front of the computer for 8 hours), I on average will only be 'talking' approximately 4 hours, of which I receive $23/ hour. So the real pay is approximately $11 hour.
Why do you not advertise the position stating this fact? Are you hiding this very important fact? Is this a bait and switch tactic?

2. In addition, to receive the '$23/ hour of talk time' an agent must also achieve 3 different 'ratios' (submissions ratio, talk time ratio, issued ratios). Now, if only one of these 'ratios' are not met, an agent does not receive his or her '$23/ of talk time' OR any commissions earned! THIS IS NOT CLEAR IN THE CONTRACT AND WAS NOT CLEARLY COMMUNICATED TO ME BEFORE I SIGNED UP. For example, an agent can work a 2 week shift, work 40-80 hours on average, sell 'X' amount of policies and receive $00.00 at the end of the pay period! This is completely absurd.
How can you expect people to work for 2 weeks, then find out at the end of the 2 weeks they will not receive ANYTHING? Why is this very critical point not emphasized in the contract? And why was this not clearly communicated to me? Again, are you trying to hide something? Do you not think that knowing this fact would be a decisive factor for an agent considering the position?

I can honestly say that had I known this, I definitely would not have signed up and invested over $1, 000! In addition, I had tried to address this issue, and have email documentation, with upper management, including CEO Bob Bland and President Drew Gregory, and my issues would not be directly addressed. Each time the issue was diverted and I would not receive a direct answer.

GEICO Insurance affiliate/ Life Quotes is able to get away with this because most agents, like myself, need to invest approximately $1, 000 to obtain various state licenses to start the program. Obviously, after investing such a large sum of money, an agent is committed to the program, although critical points of the pay plan stated above are NOT made aware to the agent until AFTER the investment is made! This puts the agent in an uncompromising position, as you can image.

I have wasted over month of work (of which I have sold over $20, 000 in annual premium!) and wasted an investment of over $1, 000, due to your lack of transparency and unethical practices and now I have almost nothing to show for it. I think your business practices are appalling and it is amazing to me that a reputable company like GEICO, whom I personally have auto insurance with, would knowingly participate in the these unethical, bait and switch business tactics. Furthermore, I would think the public would be just as appalled, especially under the current economic environment, to learn that a household name company like GEICO would be involved in such practices. I am sure that the Insurance Commissioner's Office of Maryland and Illinois would also be very interested in your business practices, as well as the insurance companies you represent such as Transamerica, Genworth, MetLife, Lincoln Financial, etc…

GEICO lies lies lies

My policy for our car insurance cancelled due to my wife and I losing our jobs and making a choice of food for the family or to allow a short gap in coverage. I made 4 phone calls to Geico and was transferred to the Delaware section each time in reference to what minimum I could pay to reinstate the policy. I was told $213.00 each time would reinstate my policy. I questioned this each time due to my last bill amount of $439.00, but they advised I would only have to pay the $213.00. I borrowed this amount from a family member at 11 pm one night and called again to confirm this amount prior to sending the cash money via MoneyGram before midnight. Once I did I called back immediately to confirm my payment with the reciept reference number as previously directed 4 times and just 20 minutes prior being the last. Once I called in to handle this they advised me that the full amount of $439.00 was due to reinstate it and the $213.00 was incorrect. They advised me that it was Delawares policy and could not explain why I was told this 4 times prior. They only apologized out the yazoo and said there was nothing they could do. I told them they needed to check the system to see which agents I spoke to and they said they could not confirm that information was given to me. Basically, they took food money from my family. The old "bait and switch" to get their money regardless of what situation I would be left in. Then speaking to a supervisor they could not provide further supervisors names or emails to contact as I was disgusted that they would not stand by what their idiot agents lied to me about previously. Basically, I am the little guy, they got their money and screw me! You can save 15% in 15 minutes by switching to Geico but you can get lied to and screwed over (w/no insurance) in 5. ###s got my money and I could not get it back. No one there cares! they are a bunch of script reading, overly happy sounding monkeys saying whatever they have to to screw us then covering for each other till the end! I will go back to the little man! SCREW YOU GEICO! You just lost my entire family but I am sure that would not put a dent in your profits so you don't really care after all. I would like to shove that Gecco right up your cavemans ###! cause you can certainly kiss mine now!

GEICO geico accessed a deleted bank account

we've been geico customers since 2007. this past month has really showed just how low and underhanded they can be.

we've been enrolled in the automatic payment plan since signing up with geico - we can't afford to pay the policy off at once, so we opted for the monthly payments. we used the same bank account until march of this year. we had to close out the account in april, and switched to our current bank. the payments have been withdrawn from the new bank since april.

this month, however, we needed geico to take the payment a couple days late (due to some illness and my husband missing work). our payments came out on the 12th, and we called to ask if we could delay one until the 15th. the lady said "sure, no problem whatsoever - we understand that things can come up and we're here to help" - then she verified the bank's last 4 digits (of the current bank) and we went on our merry little way.

the 15th came and went. around the 19th there was an odd charge from geico in our bank account - it was a credit for $0.00. i didn't really think anything of it - maybe someone messed up and it'll be taken care of within a day or so. on the 21st i checked geico's website to see the account. the policy was past due and was pending cancellation if a payment wasn't made by the 29th. i emailed customer support and was told the check wasn't honored by the bank - that it was returned due to the account being closed on the 18th. i flipped out. of course i was worried, but if the account was closed we'd not been able to use our bank card or write other checks. i kept asking questions and got the runaround.

i re-entered the payment on the 22nd, after trying to rattle my brain about what could have happened. i used geico.com, and didn't enter any new information in. i used their stored information about our automatic payments to make the payment. as soon as this posted (immediately via their website) there was a $20 fee tacked on to august's bill. i was outraged, asked them what happened, and it was for having a dishonored check. i was very upset, but wanted to wait to see what happened with the new payment.

i checked back daily with geico.com - the payment had processed, and had cleared our bank on the 26th. now i was very curious about this situation, so i contacted the bank about the matter. the woman i spoke with stated that geico had done a trial deposit just to see if the account were really open - which it was - and she informed me that if in fact the account had even been closed for the hour the trial was initiated she could not see the trial or any information about it. she suggested i call and demand to speak to a supervisor as soon as possible. i did just that.

i wasn't transferred to a supervisor though. the csr i spoke with was very snippy with me. she informed me the bank account information we'd given them was for a closed account, and that we could get into big trouble for it. i asked her to verify the account - it was the bank account that we'd closed out in march and deleted from geico! i was outraged! i asked her where it came from. she said all details of the transaction had been deleted and it was my fault. i was very offended by this - especially seeing that all information from that bank was destroyed in april and i had no way of telling anyone the account number or routing number. i argued with her for half an hour, then my husband tried his hand. he finally spoke to a supervisor who agreed to refund the fee and apologized for the problem. she assured us the fee would be removed as soon as possible.

the next day i checked, the fee was still there. i had agreed to give her 24 hours to remove it before calling back. during my wait, i went to check the mail. there were 2 letters from geico - one was an agreement for the automatic payments (which were set up in april, but apparently they wanted to agree to the terms again) - another was a notice, dated july 25th (2 days after the payment had been made and all was well), stating that my insurance was cancelled at 12:01 am july 19th. it was a very threatening letter. i rushed home to contact them. the lady i spoke with was very rude and basically told me to disregard it - even though it pretty much tells me that i have no insurance, that the commissioner of insurance in my state has this information, and i'll have a hard time obtaining new insurance now.

i wouldn't recommend geico to anyone or anything. they have done us wrong for years, we just couldn't get away thanks to the low payments. i'm so glad i've found a new insurance that we can afford.

GEICO no trust on customer

I bought the Auto Insurance Policy from GEICO in May at a very good rate,
I just inquired about adding my wife to the policy and they added my wife to the policy automatically without my permission,
They did not change the quote after me calling them 10 times and they said that they dont trust their customers because they have had some bad experiences, i find it extremely hard to understand that my wife doesnt hold any license and she has been added to the policy,
GEICO just do not want to go back to my original premium and i have to unnecessarily pay extra amount.
I am so frustrated with them, Its a ridiculous company.

GEICO will scam you out of your money!

I've had Geico for 6 months (since December 2010). My uncle gave me the car to drive while mine is being repaired. Everything was fine and dandy until today when I inquired about how much my monthly rate would be as it is time for me to pay my bill. The first was paid up 6 months in advance.

I called the 1-800 number and the woman I spoke to sounded very nice but kept pushing me to do get my renters insurance through them. I passed and she kept dragging out the conversation asking me random questions about the amount I drive and how often I work:.

I got a quote for my old car which will be on the road soon and she gave me one but then kept putting me on hold while she said she was checking on the information I had given her|.

She returned to the line to say that because I am not an owner or co-owner that Geico was going to drop me regardless of the fact that they had insured me for the past 6 months! I began to worry but remained calm on the phone with her".

When she asked how much I drive to and from work I explained to her that I work at home taking care of a disabled woman.. She asked if the woman ever rode in my car and I said yes, .

After a few more times being on hold while she 'wrote notations' in my file she proceeded to inform me that since I own my own business and drive around my client that my premium would jump from $577 to $750 per 6 months!

I tried to explain that I don't own my own business, I am a 20 year old college student who takes care of an old lady 3 days a week! She refused to listen and said I needed to call her back with proof that I own the car or I will be dropped|.

This all resulted because I was curious about how much my bill would be if I paid monthly! Screw Geico, I told them I am switching to State Farm and cancelling my policy immediately/. Horrible customer service.

GEICO stay way from this company

My family has 3 cars: A Jeep and two Toyota Camry's. We had a 1998 Jeep Grande Cherokee/Laredo, a 1999 Toyota Camry and a 1991 Toyota Camry. Those are the 3 cars that Geico had VIN numbers for for our policy we had with them during the past 2 years. We had to go a couple of months without insurance due to some unexpected car repair expenses on our Jeep. When I called to get the insurance back again I only started with the Jeep to make it affordable. I called them in September 2008 to add the 1999 Toyota Camry. I did not add the 1991 Toyota Camry at this time because we had sold it. So now we only needed 2 cars covered. I called October 2008 to report a glass claim on the 1999 Camry. They had me fax the Bill of Sale. I had to fax it 3 times and follow up with them with no one calling me. They never could find it. I called almost once a week throughout the rest of October and into November. Finally in November, I got someone to talk to me and they told me they could not cover the claim because the car was not covered in October. I told them I had added the car in September and they got really flustered trying to explain to me what had happened, but simply could not justify it with me and said someone would call me to go over it with me. I received a letter in the mail telling me it wasn't covered the following week and I made several more calls to try to follow up and dispute it. I finally received a message on my machine from the claims dept saying they were returning my call and the claim had been closed/unpaid. I tried to follow up to dispute the unpaid claim and I had to leave several messages with several different people over the course of the month of November getting no resolve. I can't tell you how many times I had to explain step by step what had happend to so many people. We then purchased a 2002 Toyota Camry in December 2008. When I called Geico to add the 2002 Camry they communicated to me that they had made an error and had not added my sons car in September when I had called in, but said since it was their error they would add it immediately and back date it to cover anything. They said I would get a slight increase on my next bill to cover the driver (my son) because they had billed me for my son's car (even though their records said they didn't add it). They said they would only be billing me for him as the driver since we had only been paying for his car and not him the driver, but they would also back date him covered as the driver to cover anything. Confusing huh? Are you lost yet? They made such a mess of this. However, this helped me to figure out this as the reason why they were not covering the glass claim and saying the car was not covered. I then went back to the phone trying to get this resolved again and over the course of January, Febuary, March and April tried to get this taken care of. Meanwhile the small fly size glass claim split across the entire front windshield of my son's Camry which now the entire window had to be replaced. On Saturday April 18th, I thought I was finally speaking with a competent customer rep. She explained to me (and you're not going to believe this) that our 1991 Camry was still on our policy and the 1999 Camry had never been added. They added the wrong Camry back when I called in Sept 2008! My son had been driving around with no insurance and we had been paying on a car we no longer owned! She added it immediately and dropped the other Camry and said she would send it to underwriting to get them to back date it to cover the claim. She promised me I would get a call that week on a decision and that she would personally follow up on it herself. The following Saturday April 25th I was not happy when I had to call back in because no one had followed up with me and even though I had threatened this before, I meant it this time. If they did not fix this today and resolve it I was canceling my policy and going with another company. I already had a quote and was ready to make the switch. The customer rep spoke to her supervisor (and would not get a supervisor on the phone for me though) and said they had agreed to back date it to keep my business. However, she said it would be $218 so it would be cheaper for me just to replace the windshield myself! Unbelievable! I asked her what it would have cost me to replace the windshield originally in October 2008 when I had called in the claim if the car would have been covered without their error. She said nothing. I then told her that was my point, and that I should be paying nothing now because it was their error and the amount of time and long period of unresolved issue over the course of 6 months was ridiculous and that was the least they could do. So I told her as I hung up the phone to tell her supervisor they had just lost a customer! I then called the other insurance company and within minutes had my 3 cars covered and they emailed me the cards. I then called GEICO back and canceled my policy and of course the person asked me why I was canceling and I said poor customer service. She asked if the other insurance company I was switching to was lower than GEICO and I said yes. She then asked if I would like to give them the rates so they could lower my rates in order to keep me as a customer. I told her to take a few minutes and read my file and she would realize the reason I was canceling was not due to price. She then apologize and said maybe they could offer me better customer service in the future if I ever returned to GEICO...I told her it was highly unlikely...

I have had Geico for two years and I will never use them again. I have just switched from Geico to Consumer United, who signed me up with Safeco, a Liberty Mutual company. Sean Riley at C.U. helped me and I could not have asked for a more patient, thorough rep. I know I sound like I'm his mother, but I am not, just another completely screwed over ex-Geico user who needed the kind of help Mr. Riley gave me. Believe me, I shopped hard.

Noone9999, good luck with your Geico insurance.

I am confused. Don't you check your policy documents online? Isn't it your responsibility to ensure that you have proper insurance on your vehicles? You should have known right away that they did (or did not) add a vehicle (or the wrong vehicle) onto your policy because you can view all of your policy documents online. This includes VIN numbers for each vehicle and also your premium should reflect your coverage. I am currently with GEICO after eSURANCE.com tried to double my premium because I moved to a different state. GEICO ended up giving me a great rate and I have no complaints with them. I would ALWAYS follow up after making any changes to a policy. If you don't then it's your own fault.

GEICO playing games with premiums.

They aren't going to sell insurance in Georgia from Homesite Insurance of the MidWest (headquartered in Boston Mass?).
They are going to sell it from another Homesite Insurance company.
And they raised my annual premium with that Homesite Insurance company by $200.I think I'll find another company to insure my house.Truck, too.Slimy little lizard.

I know. But my truck premium went from $550 every six months to about $250. But I'm sure they aren't any good. One office to serve all of Atlanta. Probably use cheap Chinese aftermarket parts .And the discount I was promised was only maybe two or three dollars when I switched homeowner policies. I'm going back to my previous insurer.

GEICO bad service

Well in oct of 06 I was a passenger in the back seat of my friends car. And this guy ran a red light. The sherriff showed up like 15 minutes later said he saw the whole thing and my friend was guilty. All the witness' that were at the light this guy ran said it was my friends fault. So I sued his insurance company. I went to a chiropractor and got a lawyer. Now 3 years later my back pain is worse and still no word from geico on my insurance claim. My lower back is in extreme pain. I cant do normal jobs I would of been able to with a normal back. I need help. My lawyer isnt even doing me any good.

Have you sued your friend's insurance company, or talked to them? Oh, never mind, you ave waited too long for that. I think two years is the statute of limitations.

GEICO dishonest

Our car windshield was broken in the evening and we called Geico to report the claim. They told us we could go to any glass company, not the car dealer, to fix it. Since it was evening, we were authorized to get a rental car but I told Geico I wanted to get the windshield fixed that night and they reiterated that we could go to any glass company. We found a place that would fix the windshield that evening and now Geico is refusing to pay the full amount. We were told by 3 Geico employees that payment wouldn't be a problem but they are not following through. Very dishonest, VERY disappointing.

GEICO cancelation

Canceled my new policy which I hadn't even received yet in my new state of residence, even though they promised to keep the policy in force for a payment in the amount I paid in my former state until the "missing" policy arrived. Then, when car was stolen they told me I'd been canceled. I think, though, that they paid my lien holder for the car or at least the resulting damage and then the lien holder, Capital One Auto Finance, charged me that amount in the phony deficiency balance anyway. The following present or former Geico policyholders have a potential civil rights invasion of privacy claim against Geico, because they submitted your name and address to the federal court as part of an exhibit list of people they sent cancelation notices to on May 29, 2007, exhibit to their motion for summary judgment to try to prove they sent me notice of cancelation: Tereso Jesus Gonzalez, Rodney L. Smith and Arland F. Smith, Maricela Garcia Lara, Janet Ross Troy, Mary R. Apodaca and A. Velino Apodaca, Todd Michael Spoth, Aejaz h. Razi and Arifa Waheed, Gary Eugene Thornbury, Donna Lynn Luper, Mary H. Lopez and Chon Lopez, Kristin M. Monson, Angela Kim Thomas, Alesa A. Coriell and Nathanael W. Coriell, John T. Vannoy and Mary K. Vannoy. And me, of course. Geico's motion was denied. Get a good lawyer all of you.

GEICO auto insurance

more than a month ago my youngest son was driving my car and caused damage to my car. As of today's date they have not done anything to resolve this claim. They even told me to go and get a copy of the accident report so that they wouldn't have to. I just got off the phone and they advise me to contact the Police department because of the insurance card number does not exist, and the poliece should be responcible for finding the person as they wrote down the wrong policy number. I have never been so outragend about anything in my life. I just wonder how a Gecco tastes on the fire? has this happened to anyone else using Gecio?

GEICO outrageous quotes

I was with Geico for about 10 years until September of 2006. I liked them. They gave me a 10% discount every time I renewed my policy. When I traded in my car for one that required comprehensive insurance, i called them from the dealership. The rate they gave was ridiculously high. I didn't know, at the time, that they had also checked my credit report. A nasty thing to do to a long time customer with a perfect driving record- a 37 yr old female as well. I should have known. When I bought my house in 2002, I looked into homeowne's from geico, hoping for a discount as I already had auto insurance with them- they turned me down flat due to my credit report. My realtor recommended a local NY Mutual agent and they gave me great, inexpensive homeowner's coverage- no credit report required. I then called Progressive. They gave me a lower rate on comprehansive-not fantastic- but, again, no credit report required. I started looking around for lower rates this past February. I was paying Progressive $148 per month. I called Geico and they told me to call back in march- as several instances where people drove into or bumped into me- none were my fault- would disappear from my record. It was also in my favor, thay said, that I handled all of them through the other driver's insurance company. I waited until this month and got quotes from all over the internet. None were substantially lower and Progressive offered to re-write my policy for much lower- but with a $194 downpayment. Eventually- I talked to an underwriter at progressive and they came up with a better solution. They would cancel the old policy- with about $70 owing and write a new one, a 6 month pay one- at $70 and change per month. My downpayment being my first month's payment. I had to enroll in auto billing, but that saved $5 per month. I went with that. Of course, a few companies have contacted me due to my online search- wanting my business, but they can't beat Progresive's price. The MOST disturbing email I received was from Geico- the subject line was 'legally required notice'. The email described that my rate was due to my credit report! Car insurance should be based on one's driving record, possibly type of car, where garaged, how much driven, and maybe the history of past car insurance payments. I have had continuous coverage since 1988. I don;t see the risk they would undertake- I am not applying for a loan with them. Now, I imagine is a mark on my credit report. Geico Sucks. They try to sound inclusive and even push motorcycle insurance. They are the worst! Even worse than a higher rate! They don't seem to care that I am a safe driver or want my business back.

I would like to know how GEICO can charge $ 5,000.00 a year for one vehicle to be on the road with little coverage meaning coverage to just put the car on the road ? And USAA only charges $ 3,000.00 for three ( 3 ) that's right three cars with max coverage. GEICO is supposed to be for the veteran that's [censored]

Many states allow insurance companies to base rates on credit history. The credit check also may have been due to the fact that you want to pay monthly. Either way, you should have an insurance agent from State Farm, Farmers, Allstate, etc. You can go into their office and meet them face-to-face. Also, you can ask them to explain the coverages and policies to you so their are no hidden fees or charges. Most of them offer convenient payment plans as well. Stop shopping for something as important as insurance online and over the phone.

GEICO unauthorized debit

We had Geico Car Insurance then switched to Grange Insurance. On April 8th 2011 I cancelled with Geico following their precise instructions to a "T"in both calling and verbally canceling and then immediately after the phone call emailing them a cancellation for both mine and my son's policy. We instructed them to cancel and to not debit our account as we have new auto insurance.

Yet on the 14th of April they debited both mine and my son's insurance anyway. When I called them today they said they did not accept my cancelation because even though I emailed a cancelation in time I did not do it from my wife's email address which was the email account we signed up under. I stated that was never explained or instructed to me. The customer service rep apologized and acknowledged that should have been explained as part of the process. In my cancellation email on the 8th I included mine and my wife's full name, the last four of our social security number, our policy number and our address. Plus the same for our son. That should have sufficed.

When we originally obtained insurance they had me "verbally" give my authorization to debit my account so when I canceled I said this served as my "verbal" notice to cancel and do not debit my account as I had new auto insurance. The rep during that call assured me no funds would be debited from that point on.

So today Geico said I must resend from original address as it will not be considered canceled until them. Also the rep added that they would not put it back into our accounts but mail a refund.

I am very upset with Geico as I feel they are being dishonest with me when I jumped through all the hoops and in plenty of time. So this month because of their dishonesty we have paid double for auto insurance. From both our current provider Grange Insurance and from our canceled provider. What fun.

GEICO won't pay claim

I have been with Geico for 9 years. Yet they found every way they could not to pay a claim on my car. It hurt me. I was surprised. They basically called me a liar, like I was trying to rip them off. An investigator called me like he was the FBI, questioning me about my deductible. It was $50, that is why Geico didn't want to pay. All of that fancy advertising is to cover up what is really true--they are losing their customers to other insurance companies with cheaper rates and who do pay off, no matter what the deductible. Shame of your behavior Geico. If I ever see your gecko on the street, I'd be happy to bump him off.

BEWARE OF GEICOS INABILITY TO HANDLE INSURANCE POLICY CHANGES
I purchased a new $35, 500 new vehicle latter part of 2012, requested GEICO to update my policy by dropping my old vehicle and add my new vehicle with a $500 deductable policy. I travel frequently for my job. I had an animal strike my new vehicle shortly after. Filed a claim for repair. GEICO denied my claim. To my surprise GEICO never updated my policy. GEICO claimed that they had no evidence at their end of my request. That they could not find the paper work I faxed in nor record of phone call requesting the new change to my insurance policy. It means nothing to them if you have been with them many years. I cancelled my other vehicle policies with them, to include house insurance also. I didn't think I could find a good insurance or reliable company, to my amazement not only did I find a great company, but $60.00 less than GEICO for both auto and house.

GEICO non payment claim improper insurance

I feel for the Lizard. Had Geico insurance when I hit something on my motorcycle. It flipped the chain off and ripped through the engine right next to my foot & leg. Claims asked what I hit. I said I don't know a car part or a dead animal. They said which one. I guessed wrong and said a car part. They said if it was an animal I was covered, car part not covered. I paid the full $1500 to repair the bike and have a claim on my record. My Car registration was cancelled by DMV because of lack of insurance even though I was paying my geico premium auto deduction. The money goes to Geico but they do not pay and may not even being insuring you in your state even when you pay. Do Not Trust a Lizard with an accent for insurance. I am with USAA now.

GEICO avoid paying a legitimate claim

I would like to add my name to the long list of people who have complaints against Geico. Looks like they will do anything possible to avoid paying a legitimate claim. The money they save by not paying many claims will surely cover the expense of those stupid commercials.
