Homesite Insurance claims process

I've been a Homesite customer for years. Never paid late, and until recently, never filed a claim. Had a delivery stolen by a Porch Pirate from in front of my home. Thanks to the deductible, Homesite was looking at paying out less than $200. After sending purchase info and the police report, Homesite Claims told me I'd be required to go through a 30 to 40 minute interview process. Less than 10 minutes into the interview with an Adjuster, I was asked where I worked, how long I had been there, what time I left for work on the day of the theft, what time the theft occurred, time I left work, what I had done between leaving work and coming home... It became abundantly clear I was considered a prime suspect for filing a false claim, and that the intrusive and insulting questions were intended to make the process more difficult. I ended the interview early, and now it's time to find a different insurer. I'm actually glad I found out that Homesite considers it's customers to be the enemy before I had to file any type of larger claim. I couldn't count on them when they were needed. Check the internet, this company gets mostly terrible reviews, and with good reason. Homesite is owned by American Family Insurance, and also issues policies for Progressive.

Homesite Insurance refusal to return money owed

Homesite is the worst insurance company. Do not give them your business or any money. I cancelled this policy over 3 years ago, and they still have my money, $675.

They are deceitful & do not know what they are doing. I will be filing with the state of massachusets insurance commission, along with my state.

*warning - do no business with this horrible company!

THIS COMPANY RIPPED ME OFF & ARE REFUSING TO RETURN MY MONEY FROM A CANCELLED POLICY - $675.

***WARNING - DO NOT GIVE ANY BUSINESS TO THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE THEIVES, LIARS, & NOT TO BE TRUSTED FOR ANYTHING, EXCEPT TO RIP-OFF HARD WORKING PEOPLE. THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.

Homesite Insurance Unresolved Claim

I filed a complaint with Homesite Insurance on April 22, 2011 because of flooding in my condominium due to a pipe burst. The insurance company arranged for me to stay in a hotel while they worked on resolving my claim, however to my dismay, they discontinued my hotel stay in June stating that "it's been 2 months." That surprised me since I was only in the hotel because they were still working with their adjustors on obtaining estimates of my home's damages to resolve the claim. This resulted in me being displaced and eventually paying rent to live with others (while also paying my mortgage)! During the process, my claim adjustors never contacted me, and any contact was initiated by me. I eventually wrote a letter to the corporate office to hopefully see an improvement in the customer service that Homesite provided. My claim was taken over by a Supervisor about one month ago. I have sent estimates from a contractor to show Homesite what the costs of my damages are, but they still have not resolved the claim, and it has been 6 months! (A claim adjustor for Homesite told me that claims usually take 4 weeks). I have been out of my home since April and contact Homesite weekly, but most of my calls are ignored. They have advised me that they are extremely busy with other claims, which is still no excuse to drag my claim on for this amount of time. The customer service at Homesite is unacceptable.

Homesite Insurance Worst experience

My policy was cancelled by Homesite because my kitchen was under construction during their underwriting/inspector visit in May. So they sent a letter to me stating I'm cancelled and I would be given a check for my prorated balance (463.00)in two weeks. I called them for the past 4 months waiting and checking for this check that never came. I called them today after I was promised that it would be sent in two weeks. They now tell me it was cashed back in June and case is closed. I asked for a copy of the check. It was signed in block letters and appears to be cashed at an ATM. I asked them to start a fraud investigation and they said its up to me. I explained to them to please call their bank and start the fraud invest and they will not. They consider the case closed. I called their bank and they also said that Homesite must start it.

This company is the worst... the people there are ignorant or just programmed to say "No".

I know have the Post Master General involved...
