Homebase Homebase chairs

To whom it may concern

I bought 25 chairs from Homebase in February 2023 for use in my house. I have since complained to Homebase as a number of the seats are faulty. I have guests at my house once or twice a week and use the chairs when guests are at our home. I have now been told that I have no warranty because the chairs are deemed not to have been used for 'personal use'. I do not accept this and ask for a full refund and a pick up of the chairs, which are all currently in my house. Please see attached receipt and response from a Homebase employee regarding this.

I would appreciate if this matter can be resolved as soon as possible without me having to go down the legal route.

Desired outcome: A full refund

Homebase Toilet facilities

My husband and I visited the Homebase store at Fareham today, 2nd June 2023, at approximately 2.15pm. I needed to use the toilet and was surprised to find that there was only one toilet. This was a disabled toilet. I was shocked at the poor and dirty condition it was in. The dust and dirt was clearly not recent. I have attached some photos which clearly show the filthy pull cord, the disgusting state of the floor and pipes behind the toilet, and old stains caused by leaks in pipes behind the toilet from the cistern.

Homebase Supagrow organic compost

Purchased 14 bags of supagrow organic compost with my young family from Home base. Whilst driving the 30min drive my SUV was full of a disgusting foul smell. My children starting complaining of the smell from the boot and started feeling sick, all the windows had to be opened to try and disperse the foul smell, to no avail? I'm concerned this stuff is bad for our health and want some answers to its safety.

My car, all our clothes stink of the compost and although the clothes have been washed the car remains stinking of the foul compost. The bags are outside where it continues to smell foul! This stuff shouldn't be allowed to be sold. As a keen gardener I've never come across such foul compost.

Desired outcome: hazardous specialist to discuss my concerns about smelling/inhaling the foul smell in the confined car space. Full refund along with collection. Compensation for valeting, time/cost spent washing and for the stress caused to all the family

Homebase Organic compost

Dear Advisor,

I am contacting you to complain about the authenticity of your product called 'Organic' garden compost which I purchased on Sunday the 21st August.

I bought 6 bags of Supagrow Organic Compost costing a total of £23.70 .

Today I went to spread this product on my allotment but was surprised to find it was a very powdery substance with a disturbing smell which was distinctly

chemical rather than organic. The smell reminded me of tarmac. After handling it I started to sneeze and experienced a sore throat. I am an organic gardener and am disturbed to think that I have spread something on my food growing plot which is not organic.

I see that on the bag it mentions 'With added nutrients'. I would very much like to know what these are. I feel I have been mis-sold an item which I trusted to be organic. Regards Pamela Woods

Desired outcome: I would like a refund but also want to complain that this product is clearly NOT organic as labelled and want to know what it is composed of. I look forward to hearing from you.

Homebase Dulux paint mixing

I took a shelf to the sittingbourne Kent branch I asked to have it colour matched, a girl wasn't interested in mixing the paint she took me and my wife to all the paints in store to try and find a colour that matched we couldn't find a match so we left. The next day I went back on my own to try again the same girl and a lady was working there I took the shelf with they did end up colour matching I was asked what I was painting I said wood and plaster I was then told I can only have satinwood for wood and eggshell for plaster. I'm autistic so at this point I couldn't say no as I can't do confrontation with people she even asked how many legs my furniture had so I brought the paint. My wife was out when I got home she asked if I had varnished the paint I showed her the tin she was not happy at all, I went back to the store today to buy a tin of eggshell, I asked for a refund two of your staff was really rude they didn't believe a word that I had said and said the woman wouldn't of asked about the amount of legs I at to paint there was a lady at the till and two other staff near they was making me fill over powered and I was getting got and bothered and my anxiety kicked in, I did tell them in autistic but they was still rude and not helpful at all, on both tins of paint it says for wood and metal I was told in store that I couldn't have eggshell for wood only for plaster I didn't like the so called help from your staff

Desired outcome: Refund for the satinwood

Was not happy with the dulux mixing department firstly the person didn't want to mix the paint was told to match my item with the tins that was on the shelves I left the store.I went back the next day to try again this time I got the help but was told what the paint I could and could not have even though both tins said the same for wood and metal I was told satinwood for wood and eggshell for plaster both tins for wood and metal.I told the staff in autistic and I don't like confrontation it didn't seem to bother them and they said the woman wouldn't have said what I told them and I'm pretty much a liar and I left the store without any refund or help in any way didn't like the way they spoke to me I wouldn't buy from the paint mixing department ever again

Homebase Customer service and timescales

The order started off well with the sales person / kitchen planner coming out to do a home visit and making his recommendations. So far so good. Then I checked the internet and found all of the appliances the sink and taps online about 40% cheaper than at Homebase. When I brought this to the attention of the Homebase sales person they had to see a manager and brought their prices down to near to the online prices. However on the final visit to the store I should have smelt a RAT when they wanted full payment up front.
I wouldn't have paid any other builders up front in full. Stupid really. I had a phone call from someone from Homebase installations giving me a delivery date for the goods. However she informed me some parts (the wine rack would be missing). It would turn up within a few days. She told me the installation was listed for 10days.
The kitchen installation started on time but the wine rack didn't appear in 10days. The cooker hood was damaged in the box and needed to be replaced. The fitter had to order more parts as some necessary parts were missing. The hood turned up after the fitter was due to have finished and he was now on another job. The wine rack just didn't appear. Many phone calls to the installation team seemed to be a total waste. They sent the wrong parts about 3 times and eventually the correct part turned up.
By this time the fitter was abroad on holiday. The installations manager when I phoned him didn't know he had gone away. He offered to get someone else in but they couldn't make a day convienient to us. I eventually fitted the wine rack myself as it was now over a month since the start of the installation. The fitter eventually returned to finish off the trim andmastic etc but seemed very rushed. Its the small bits that make a difference.
Would I use then again? Not a chance. The units are reasonable quality but the company is a mess as far as organisation goes. I would have been better off fitting the lot myself.

Homebase Bad customer service

we had visisted the homebase store on the 5/4/2014 to purchase a kitchen, we were browsing for some time and finally selected the one we wanted to purchase were waited for nearly 45 minutes for someone to come and take my order, we were passed by an employee who didn't let us have word in edge ways and walked straight passed us saying she was getting James to help us i thought this was very rude she didn't have 2 minutes to stop to tell us, she was walking while talking to us, we waited for another 40 minutes with nobody coming to help us, the man at the desk was dealing with another customer talking about politics and we decided that we had waited long enough and decided just to purchase the sink unit that we had already picked up .We intended to spend £6000 on this kitchen but i can tell you I'm never shopping again in homebase llandudno we walked out in disgust

Homebase Paint mixing service

12 hours ago I visited Homebase looking to have 2 pots of paint mixed. I'm still furious! It was 10% off day, and that was what made me decide to go. I had my mother and my 18month old daughter with me. I chose the colours I wanted and waited for the member of staff to finish mixing the paint for another customer. He didn't achknowlege our presence, even after we were stood there with him for at least 10mins with the colour cards in my hand. I then noticed a big button with a sign abouve saying "Were only 2 minutes away, or we'll give you 10% off!" Wishing I'd pressed it sooner, I pushed it anyway. The man waited til a minute worth of lights had been eliminated on the timer, took a side-step, zero'd the counter, and just carried on! He didn't even say hello, I'll be with you as soon as I finish this! I was clearly an irritation to him, so I pressed the button once more after it became clear that he had no intention of being curteous, in disbelief at his reaction. I was hoping for another member of staff to at least ask what I wanted and give me an indication of how much more time I was expected to waste. I could have done some more shopping or changed the baby instead of being treated like an idiot. To my utter amazement, he zero'd the clock again and snapped "There's no use pushing the button...I'M ALREADY HERE!".
Yes, I could see that he was already there...but so were other customers, who pay his wages.
I was not served in 2 minutes. I was not even served at all. After a visit to customer services complaining about my treatment I still feel that man has no place dealing with the general public. Maybe he's better of in the job centre

where does it clearly state he had finished with the customer? it doesn't say that at all. It says she was waiting whilst he finished mixing paint for another customer...

it seems u are the rude one here. "we're only 2 minutes away" means it should take 2 mins to get to u but as he quite rightly pointed out he was already there. Lets face it u only pressed the button to pressure him to work faster. wait your turn. i work in retail and customers can be so rude, i will be serving someone and they will butt in and talk over me or the customer i am quite clearly with. what makes u so much better than the other customers? I really dont get people like u, wheres the common sense? one machine and one person there already serving someone else. It's obvious u wait your turn like any other decent person.

Homebase Terrible service

On 9 Mar 09 I ordered a double cooker from Hombase/Argos. A single cooker was delivered on 18 Mar that was half the price of the model that I ordered and paid for. After calling Homebase back 2 times to explain they finally agreed to letting me pick out something closer to what I wanted and have it delivered. They were suppose to let me keep the original delivered cooker until they delivered the correct one. On 26 Mar they picked up the first delivered cooker and then later I found out the new cooker would not be delivered till 4 days later. Not only does my family of 4 have to do without a cooker but I will also have to take off work for a third day to hopefully receive the correct cooker. Me or my friends will never use Homebase again.

Homebase Incompetence

On 24th September I rang the payment side Argos/Homebase to authorise a payment of £140.92 in full payment as required. When I came to check over the telephone how much I had left in the bank and was adised nothing and the bank and i suspected fraud when a large payment of £1, 409.20 had been removed from the account on 29th September 2008. It was only after the cancellation of my debit card that it appeared an error had been made. When I contacted them they said yes they saw what the error was and they were sorry and would be making a full refund of the difference £1, 268.28. This was the start of a battle to get the return of my money back. Many have been the calls and promises but never the name or address of anyone in authority. The runaround has been tremendous with no one able to assist and in fact those i have managed to speak to are either lying or incompetent. I will never deal with them again. All I want is the money they owe me for their mistake as it has caudede no end of problems with my bank account. Apart fom shaming them I ame considering legal action against the one name I have, Luke Alldritt, Customer Services Manager.
