Home Depot poor service and poor quality of merchandise

Today, my husband purchased some nice new doors for my laundry area, or so we thought. When he opened the box to take the doors and materials out, he was appauled. One of the frames for the door was bent, he was going to fix it but decided he shouldn't have to be correcting brand new merchandise. As if this wasn't enough, he took one of the doors out of the box and there was a huge scratch right in the middle of the door as well as small scratches on the side of it. This is not the first time we have had this experience with Home Depot's merchandise. We had decided to give them another try, big mistake! We are still shaking our heads about the way they installed our carpet too. When we came home from work, to see what they had done, we
found all our air vents carpeted and a huge mess left by the installers laying in the middle of the carpet. I am a business owner myself and I would never treat my clients the way Home Depot has treated us. I certainly don't see Home Depot staying in business if they continue follow their current business practices. In this time of economic problems for families, I can't believe that a business would add additional stress to a family and expect no recourse. Rick and Shirley

Home Depot no longer honoring military discount

I find it most insulting, disappointing and unpatriotic that beginning in April, 2011, Home Depot has stopped honoring all military veterans with a 10% discount and are now only honoring the disabled veterans with same. Because one was shot during service does not make them a better veteran than those who dodged the bullets! All veterans should be honored or none at all. At present, Lowe's is continuing to honor ALL those who served our country with a 10% discount. Good bye Home Depot, hello Lowe's.

The complaint is valid, but there is one minor error. Home Depot is not excluding non-disable veterans from the every day discounts, but they are excluding veterans who do not have a valid VA ID card. However, in order to get the card you must meet the health care eligibility requirements and if you are not disable you must meet the low income requirement. So ultimately if you are a non-disable, high income veteran, forget this discount.

Home Depot honors military discounts. Ask for it, show proper ID, and you will receive it.

I have worked for HD for a year and a half now, in Georgia, and we have ALWAYS had a military discount, and it was never made available only to the disabled veterans.

Mollie's point is probably correct. But really, discounts aren't required at all.

They do not have to offer ANY discount. It is not unpatriotic to stop offering a discount. However, it is a little bit odd that they are not removing the offer for all veterans

Home Depot paint product

Purchased Ralph Lauren paint two years ago and we have since done some renovations and need to do touch ups and Home Depot do not carry this paint any longer. They provided me with Behr paint and the color is not the same. We are in the process of listing our home and can't find another company that sells Ralph Lauren Paint.
Does anyone in Calgary know of any other company that sells Ralph Lauren Paint.
Please e-mail me @[protected]@shaw.ca

thanks

Home Depot credit card overcharge

Not only does this entity overcharge percentages on their credit balances, they charged my bank account twice of almost 4700.00 for payment on the same date. It's taking them 5 days to charge back my bank account. They are not being managed properly for the consumer and conduct bad business in regards to credit. Do not take out credit from them.

Home Depot veteran's discount program

Home Depot has always granted me a discount for being in the military. Recently I was informed that only certain issued picture ID cards would be accepted. The county that I live in, Dutchess County, NY, has begun issuin these new photo ID cards to ALL veterans in the county. My brother tried using his card at the Hyde Park / Poughkeepsie store, on Route 9, as few days ago and was told the card is not a valid Government Issued card and cannot be accepted for the discount. After some discussion, the cashier stated that she will accept it THIS time only. My brother called the manager on the phone later that day and the manager, after being unsure and unclear, stated that if he came is now he would be granted the discount. It is obvious that Home Depot has no clear policy, and their employees don't know the policy, either, concerning the discounts for vetera, s. Yes, it is a Voluntary program, but we were all under the assumption that Home Depot was participating in the program. ARE they or ARE THEY NOT participating? If they are, why are they not accepting or honoring the County Government cards issued to us through the Veterans' Administration of our county?

Home Depot poor quality work

Wanted vinyl flooring in 2 basement (apartment) entrances. Picked out cheap vinyl flooring from Home Depot on Feb 2; vinyl left warehouse on 17th - never made it to the store. (lost or stolen - come on - it wasn't imported Italian tile!) Home Depot had to re-order vinyl and finally made it to the store by week of March 14. Called installer for a date; came out March 21. Two laborers, non-English speaking and my deaf-read-lips-only husband - what a disconnect. Husband emails me at my work - "you're not gonna like this..."
Pattern on vinyl was not parallel to walls & instead of putting a riser in front of each door, one door had quarter-round molding and other door had a huge long glop of sealant with the crooked cut of the vinyl plainly showing. Called AWS to tell them what a lousy job they did ("I'm sorry, we can fix it" said the meek female voice). When I finally calmed down, I called back to ask for an inspector out to look at the job. "Sure - we'll send out the same people so they can look at it and re-do the job." What? No way! So my next step is to call and email Home Depot and tell them that yes - we got what we paid for! Cheap job, cheap materials, cheap labor, looks cheap! Time to go back to a trusted sub-contractor for the rest of the renovation! Nothing like trying to save a little money and getting no satisfaction. Won't happen again.

Home Depot overpriced installation

The wife and I went to Home Depot to buy a new front door and screen door. Picked out from their "stock", paid a $30 deposit, then waited over 1 week to have some guy come over to "double check" and re-measure the measurements I already provided them. Of course, our measurements provided were correct and is a "stock"/"normal" size. Another week later, get a phone call telling us that everything is "all set" and told us the price, i.e. almost $1k for a $205 front door and $300 screen door. Installation would run us about $200 for the front door and $100 for the screen door. Due to our work schedules, I gave them the "thumbs up" to do the job and paid with my debit card via phone. Got a phone call about 4 hrs later, telling me that we needed a permit for a door! Not sure of our exact code enforcement laws in our county but seemed a little strange but whatever. Was told it was $181 for the permit. Paid again via credit card for that. Got curious and called our local code enforcement supervisor who advised that permits for front doors are $108. Left a message with the installation supervior, or whatever his goofy title is, and asked that he call me back because I had inquires about why the permit price is more than what the codes enforcement department told me.

Home Depot flooded kitchen

Stay away from this Home Depot!
7 Weeks ago they installed a dishwasher in my home. The very 1st time we used it my kitchen was flooded. Home Depot, Linstar and Maytag finger pointed for 7 weeks now and have never reacted to the problem.
I called them within 4 hours of my install to notify them of the problem, and I have called and emailed for weeks after.
Finally after 4 weeks I had to have the wood floor removed from my kitchen (at my expense), upon removal we found a series mold problem.
Now my kitchen is tented and can not be entered with out a respirator.
I have been 3 weeks with no kitchen, and no help from Home Depot.
I use to shop here because if there was a problem, it was always resolved. Now, due to their lack of action, they have tripled the damage to my home with no restitution offered as of yet and thousands of dollar out of my pocket. Do you really want to trust a company that does this?
Think really hard about any purchase from this place.
Peter Webb store manager, well lets just say less than responsive

Home Depot replacement globe

Two years ago, I remodeled my entire home. I put new light fixtures and ceiling fans throughout all of which are Hampton Bay and along the same theme. Recently and for no apparent reason, a globe from the flush mount light fixture fell off and shattered on the upstairs landing. I went to home depot to replace the globe. Of course they do not sell replacement globes for flush mount fixtures. I spoke to a Home Depot employee in the lighting department and she told me the line had been discontinued and that I would have to purchase all new light fixtures. I felt she was rude and uncooperative. I would like to replace the globe with the same or similar lines. I would like to be treated with respect and understanding.

Home Depot delivery and customer care

We purchased a condo in Glendale, AZ in September of 2010. Excited about our bargain, we came back to WV and waited to find a good deal on appliances for the condo. We purchased four major appliances over the phone at the end of November after seeing an ad online. The salesperson worked with us and we thought everything was fine until we set up for delivery.
We set the delivery date for January 26 after clearing it with a friend who was to let the deliverymen in and be there for the installation which was to take about 2 hours. On January 24, the delivery company called and said the appliances were still on back order and delivery was then set for February 2. We explained to the delivery company, GE Delivery Company, that we would like delivery around 10 am because our friend had obligations later in the day. They said OK, they would try. Around 15 minutes before the delivery company closed on February 1, we received a call and they said delivery would be the next day somewhere between 12 and 4 pm. We told them this wouldn't work and the only solution they could offer was somewhere between 8 and 12, which still wouldn't work. They could only give a 4 hour time frame.
We immediately called the Home Depot in Peoria and talked to the manager on duty. He called GE Delivery Company and tried to work out something to fit our time frame and the delivery company wouldn't give him any satisfaction either.
After a lengthy discussion with the manager and getting nowhere, we decided to cancel the order. He said an expediter would call us the next day to credit our account. She called and said the account would be credited and we would receive a check for $125 payment we had made on the appliances. At that time, she informed us that the refrigerator was still on back order which no one had bothered to tell us. So that would have meant another delivery hassle to go through. She said she would inform the sales person about the canceled order and also contact the bank about our refund check.
We received a call a day or two later from another lady, whose name we didn't get. She offered to take $500 off the price of the appliances and have the appliances delivered to the local store to await delivery when we could be in Arizona. Our counter-offer was to take a $1000 off the price. She said she wasn't authorized to do that amount and would have to take it to someone higher up and would get back to us the next day. We still haven't heard anything from her.
We finally called the Customer Care Center in Atlanta and told them the whole story. They were to contact the local store in Peoria and try to work something out. After several days, the original complaint taker passed us off to another person to deal with the complaint. Following this, we finally received a call from another store manager at the Home Depot in Peoria and she said there was no way they would give us $1000 off on the appliances.
The case worker in Atlanta returned our call and informed us that Home Depot would not give us the discount we asked for and could not give any explanation why they wouldn't nor did they have any kind of counter-offer. He told us case closed, we had gone as high as we could with the complaint. We made it clear to everyone we spoke with that we had hoped to buy flooring and several more things to do our remodeling of the condo. We were looking at one stop shopping and had hoped Home Depot would fill the bill. Obviously not!
In the meantime, we have found out that GE Delivery Company has a very lousy track record with Home Depot's delivery, not just in Arizona but all over. Much to our dismay, we found out our sales person had not been informed that he had lost a significant sale until we told him.
In our opinion, there is not customer service in any stage of Home Depot nor is there any communication between the management and the sales people.
We will now take our business to someone on the local level in the Glendale-Phoenix area when it comes to remodeling our condo. We have also told a lot of people they shouldn't deal with Home Depot and they have agreed to do so. Please beware when dealing with Home Depot and having anything delivered.

Home Depot military discount

I was a customer of Home Depot, and as a veteran used the discount they offered to us. Last weekend went into the Glen Mills store and wanted to purchase the items I would need to redo a floor in a bathroom. When I went to check out I was told they changed their policy. Now the discount was only offered to active, retired or those with a service connected problem. I put the items back and went to Lowes where the military discount was not only accepted but I was thanked for my service. A veteran is a veteran. I served for six years and spent a year in Viet Nam. But since I was one of the fortunate that made it back without being injured, my service is deemed not good enough to qualify for the discount. I called Home Depot to see if what I was told at the store was in fact the company policy and the person I spoke with told me it was. There are millions of us out there that served our country with pride, even during a time when it was not a popular thing to have done. I for one am proud of my service and thrilled that I was one of the lucky one's that made it back alive. Think about my comments before you decide which big box home improvement store you decide to shop in. Thank for the chance to pass this along. Klaus

I don't understand this at all. I have been at HD for over a year, we have always had a veterans discount, at least at my store. All you have to do is prove you are a veteran and there you go. HD loses an unbelievable amount of money every year on these discounts, and yes, they have considered doing away with the discount because of it, but they didn't . They kept it because we DO feel that sense of pride for the people who served our country.

Klaus, I am with you 100%. When I asked about it a few months ago, a Customer Service Rep. told me: "The Home Depot is dedicated to supporting and honoring our men and women in uniform through our business practices, recruitment efforts and corporate contributions. We offer this discount to thank them for their outstanding service to this nation and to help make their homes more comfortable and safe". While I applaud the Home Depot for offering a discount to Veterans, who don't get nearly the recognition that we deserve, their military discount policy is discriminatory and hypocritical. Their statement should read: "We offer this discount to SOME Veterans, but not all of them". Why is my service less worthy to The Home Depot than my neighbors? Because he served for 20 years, and I only served 6? I want someone form The Home Depot to explain it to me and not just tell me "I'm terribly sorry, but that's just the way we do it". I want someone who was involved in the descision making process to explain to me why they view my co worker is more worthy of their thanks than I am because he was medically discharged because of back pain 'allegedly' caused from riding in a Humvee on rough terrain. He was discharged, with benefits, BEFORE ever being deployed. Their policy is not only hypocritical, but very Orwellian with it's "Some are more equal than others" undertone.

Not all businesses give discounts to military veterans. Thats why I always inquire first. Home Depot gives you a 10% discount on Veterans Day and Memorial Day. I, too am a veteran. I work for the Home Depot. The Home Depot loves its veterans as evidenced by the many veterans that work there. I challenge you to go into any Home Depot at any given time and that person with the apron or the orange shirt on there is about 60% chance that worker was in the military. I am an Iraq war veteran. I have met so many other veterans at Home Depot from a few of our wars and the different branches of service. Each one has a unique story to tell. We are also allowed to wear hats that show with which military branch we were affiliated with our Home Depot uniform. I can also tell you when i was in Iraq, Home Depot donated alot of the lumber that we used to build our hooch, our supply rooms, our arms rooms, our d-fac's, our barracks, our battalion offices, our brigade offices. all that wood was donated by Home Depot. I'm sorry you didn't get your discount but you overlooked so many good things that the Home Depot does for military and ex-military. Thank You for your service!

Home Depot carpet installation

Do not be fooled by their cheaper carpet or installation prices. We decided to try them for one room before doing whole house installation. Thank God.. because, We have been waiting over a month & the sub contractors are rude & unreliable. The store is no help & after they have your money you are stuck... We will update how the installation looks if it ever happens.

We had purchased carpeting from Home Depot for a room that would not be a high traffic area, we thought we'd save some money. From the start we should've known this was not a good idea. My husband was given three different prices of what it would cost (estimates), each time the price going up about 50.00. Then, the actual amount due was another 50.00 higher than that! We were also told that it would take one week for the carpet to come in and another week for it to be installed, and since time was a factor for us, we purchased the carpet on the 8th of the month. It didnt even come in until 14 days later, and then it took the installer another 3days to talk to us-- after WE called him twice and he failed to return phone calls. The installers were scheduled to install the carpet between 3 and 5pm.They showed up at 515, in the pouring rain. Most places would leave cardboard or plastic where they trample in through the house to their destination, especially if they have to make repeated trips back and forth outside. NOT the case here. It took less than an hour to install, which was confusing to me because we've had carpets installed in similar sized rooms in our home by another company and it took a lot longer. The smell that filled the house from their glue (?) was disgusting and still smelled the next day despite our windows and fans running to air it out. They installers left a mess, aside from them going back and forth in the house, I had to vacuum up the mess they left from installing the carpet. ? Isnt this part of the installation job? It is with other companies we have used. So it was after 6 at night, and there I was cleaning up after them with three small children ages 4, 3, and 1-- and I PAID FOR THIS?!?!? I will not use Home Depot again for any type of flooring. Their service was rediculous as well as the installation. I cannot believe I paid for this hassle.

Home Depot lg washer/dryer homdepot black friday scam

Placed the order at homedepot on lg 2501wha/dlex2501 washer/dryer on nov 27 2010, and got delivery date on dec 18.

On dec 17, they said they cannot get it and postpone to jan 14, 2011.

Wait to next year until jan 12, got a phone call said has to postpone to jan 21, the 2501 are no longer in production, so they "upgrade" to 3360hwca, and lg told me would be available on jan 21, 2011. on jan 18, got another phone call said got another postpone to jan 27.

I went to homedepot and asked them if jan 27 is a sure delivery date and I told them lg 3360hwca is not available for 90days in my area on www.homedepot.com. homedepot guy asked the lg and lg told them the washer/dryer will be sure delivery on jan 27. (btw: check the bestbuy website, and the same mode will delivery within a week at my area)

Today I call back (they won't me this time) to check the delivery date. got delayed again. temp delivery date is feb 4.

What's the hell, they lied in front of your face and intentionally do not commit the promise. never go back with lg/homedepot.

In these tough economic times when the government is lowering interest rates homedepot has decided to raise theirs... as if they weren't high enough... now trying to cover the high costs of everything else and coming up with enough money to pay them extra to try bringing down your balance is even tougher...
well guess what homedepot never again! I for one boycott your store and will prompt everyone I know to do the same...

Do I care if your company fails? yeah about as much as your company cares about it's customers... NEVER MORE HOMEDEPOT!

IF YOUR TIME IS IMPORTANT TO YOU, NEVER USE CAPITAL ONE CREDIT CARD. They are the worst in the industry! For the 4th or 5th time in a few months, they have put a hold on my credit card for no reason. It is so embarrasing! I am waiting in line to pay the cashier at a supermarket and the card gets declined. I know that there is plenty of money on the card, so I called the customer service number. Guess what? I am transferred to India, where I could barely understand the customer rep's thick Indian accent. I had to repeat my card number several times, then she argues that the number I gave is not a legitimate number. I said, "What?!" I am reading the card that you, guys issued me and I have been using this same card for years. Then, she puts me on hold for several minutes. Upon her return, I remind her that I am still holding up the line at the supermarket and people are starting to glare at me like it's my fault that my credit card is having problems. The service rep asks me to repeat the credit card number 2 more times, puts me on hold for 3 more minutes and then says that there is no hold on the card and for the cashier to try to run it again. For the 4th time, the store cashier runs the card and again, the computer screen says that the card is declined. I tell the service rep this, and she still insists that it is not on their end, but on the store's end. The cashier runs the card 2 more times. Same thing. I ask the service rep to be transferred to a supervisor and she says in "an-i-don't-give-a-crap" voice, "I can't transfer you until I exhaust all the troubleshooting possibilities. What are the last 3 digits on the back of your card?" I give her the number and she says, "That is an invalid code". Again, I shriek, '"What?! I am simply reading the back of my card and I have used this code and this card for years? What is going on?" She says (amused), "Hold the line..." Again, I was on hold for several minutes, then she comes back on the line and said, "I don't see any problem on the card. Run the card again... Maybe this time it will work." I ask the cashier (who at this time, is now glaring at ME), to run the card one last time. Guess what? Card is still declined and the phone goes dead!

Home Depot delivery date postponed for 5 weeks

Purchased washer-dryer for home depot on black friday order number - [protected]- went on 5 am to the store. Got it. Was very happy. Purchased on 25th November, credit card was charged on 26th November. was suppose to be delivered on 7th December. My dryer was not working a week before black friday, however, thought to wait to get good deal. 7th decembers did not sound good, but obviously did not have any option. Got phone call - delivery postponed till 21st Dec (14 DAYS LATE). Again, another voice mail - it can be delivered in mid January. Contacted home depot customer service/local store - if they can change the model - or help any way. Was told to cancel the order. did i order this washer/dryer on black friday at 5 am to cancel the order eventually? If I want washer/dryer in this price - I don't have any option than to wait. Would you have expected this from home depot? They are blaiming to company (LG) for the backlog - whom should i blame? I purchased the product thru Home depot, not thru LG.

To psuguy58 (in reference to your comment above) - What you said is easier to say than done - once you stay without essential appliances for 4-6 weeks (who know it is 4-6 weeks or months, as I have not received it yet) greater time than what you have been promised, you will understand. Of note, how would you know it is backordered. Obviously, that is what i was told, but I did not write it above. Although it is easier to assume, it appears that you know more than what is written above!

Home Depot selling recalled siemens circuit breakers

First I want to say I really like Siemens products and will continue to use them even though they had a recall and this review is about the recall and Home Depot Negligence. I purchased two Siemens Q120 (20A single pole) circuit breakers on 18 Dec 2010 and found out Sunday night that Siemens had a recall on a large number of circuit breakers manufactured during June-July 2010. Recall was issued 23 SEP 2010 however, Home Depot continued selling the recalled Siemens circuit breakers up to at least 20 Dec 2010 which is the day I returned the two breakers I purchased on the 18th Dec 2010. I told them they were recalled and was only told they didn’t show that however I did leave the recall paperwork with the return desk and asked them to give to the store manager. Beyond that I can’t say what happened at store level but when I sent an email to Home Depot Corp HQ asking why they were continue to sell recalled products and the fact I have lost trust in Home Depot their only response was very lame. Below is the communiqué between the complaint and the reply with the complaint first followed by the reply:

(Complaint)
Hello,
I purchased two Siemens 20A circuit breakers model Q120 over the weekend and had to take them back to swap out today (Monday 20 Dec 2010) due to the fact the ones I purchased are the ones being recalled by Siemens since 23 Sep 2010. When I went back to the store, of which I live 25 miles away, I looked and found that there were a large number of affected Siemens breakers on the store's shelf. When I told the employee about it he said he didn't know about it and used his pocket computer to scan one but he said it didn't show as being recalled. I was able to find two replacement breakers that were not part of the recall and took them to the service desk to make an even swap. I gave the employee a copy of the recall and asked her to make sure the store manager got it however, I don’t know if that will happen or not. My concern is the fact that Siemens issued the recalled on 23 Sep 2010 on a large number of breaker models with date codes of 0610 and 0710 (June-July 2010) and your store are still selling them as of 20 Dec 2010 and the recall is based on a risk of fire hazard. That to me is unacceptable as most home owners and small business owners that replace their own breakers as well as most electrical contractors would not even be aware of the recall and would install these devices in buildings. Why would Home Depot continue to sell recalled products? Not only did Home Depot sell me defective product on a recall list, http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml10/10354.html and http://www.sea.siemens.com/us/Products/Residential-Electrical/Product/Circuit-Breakers/Pages/plugin_recall.aspx I had to waste more of my time and fuel to drive back to Home Depot only to swap out two breakers that were not part of the recall and the two issues put together makes me an unhappy customer. I’m glad I was able to get replacement product (Safe) but that does not solve the problem as to why Home Depot is still selling recalled products. This will make me question everything I buy from Home Depot in the future that is electrical or gas powered.
Please let me know why this happened so that I can make an informed decision as to if I can trust Home Depot and their products they sell to be safe. Yes this is a manufacture problem however, Home Depot failed to removed the recalled product from their shelf therefore my trust in Home Depot has been lost.

Home Depot not picking up old appliance as promised

When I ordered online there was not a check-off box that they would pick up the old appliance. I called Home Dep0t Customer service and they assured me they would pick up the old appliance. When the delivery day came, they delivered the new appliance and said they were not supposed to pick up the old one. After hours of phone calls with Home Depot - they still have not made it right. I did have a phone conversation with the store manager and he said they would pick it up, but then he was trumped by corporate who called me and said that they would not pick it up. I will never, ever ever order online from Home Depot again!

Home Depot - racial profiling and discrimination while shopping at home depot

December 15, 2010 Hello everyone, It’s me Mike Lewis again and a year ago I came to you telling you to not shop at Loews Home Improvement because they discriminate against minorities, I told you to support your local mom and pop shops and Home Depot. Sadly to say, that on November 21, 2010 I was at the Home Depot in Bowie MD making a purchase at the self...

Home Depot roof ripoff

I had my roof installed by Home Depot in 2007. The sales person at Home Depot offered me several packages to choose from and I selected the higher priced package because it came with a 'Lifetime Peace of Mind' guarantee. The sales Rep also guaranteed if there were any damages inside my home due to any leaks from their roof, that they were fully insured and would be responsible. The roof began leaking in 2008, again Sept 2009. They came to 'fix' these leaks. In April 2010 the leaks worsened causing a great deal of damage to my home. Home Depot sent their 'field team' to investigate the issue, and this is when they discovered the installation was done incorrectly. Their installers used aluminum and copper around the skylights causing a chemical reaction, deteriorating the frames of the skylights, causing $86, 000 of damages. It has been 3 months of dealing with Home Depots insurance company, Sedgwick, and the rep there avoids my calls, and my attorney’s calls. After NUMEROUS attempts to reach the rep, he claimed he lost the estimates provided by both a private adjuster, and my General Contractor. Meanwhile, The reps adjuster never provided any estimate. An obvious and total run around and stall tactic.
Now Sedgwick Claims the issue is being investigated, this was the last we heard from him and that was November 18th. No Investigator has contacted us and it has been 4 weeks. This is absolutely disgusting.
Though Home Depot admitted their error caused these damages, their insurance company refuses to be cooperative, and clearly dragging out my claim, making a bad situation severe. Home Depots ‘lifetime Peace of Mind guarantee" is an absolute scam. After three years of the installation of my roof, they are ignoring my phone calls. I am left with a $27, 000 roof that leaks, and a house that is inhabitable It has been a homeowners NIGHTMARE. I am continuing to getting justice! Home owners be very aware.

We have a similar issue with our roof. Purchased and installed in the Fall of 2010. We were very concerned about water and ice backup due to the Winters we have in Mass. They hand wrote it down on the contract, that it was guaranteed not to leak. Two months after the install came snow and ice, water in the house... After 20 years of no problem, we ran into Home Depot... Now in the Fall of 2011 we just rec'd a letter from Sedgwick that there appears to be no exposure to Home Depot... This after they sent the claim onto the contractors insurance company.

We use to spend about 10-15 thousand a year at Home Depot... Were done with them, the lawyers can handle it from here on in..

And we'll be buying from the local lumber and hardware companies from now on...

Home Depot refuses to honor promised refund!

In May of this year I purchased 14 boxes of Santos Mahogany Hardwood flooring from the Gig Harbor Home Depot after speaking with 2 different Home Depot employee's about which hardwood product to buy that would withstand my Great Dane and still look good without damage. I was told that this hardwood had a 25 year finish warranty and that the product was regularly in stock so I wouldn't have to worry about coming back to buy more and having the store be out of the product. I re-measured my living rm and later came back to buy 2 more boxes before we even lifted up the existing flooring. The week before Thanksgiving we began laying down the flooring (after ripping up our carpet). As our custom, we were walking the dog outside to use her "bathroom" and upon returning to the house, saw that there was a scratch / damage trail from our bedroom to the front door on the new non-even-fully-installed floor!

This floor was so soft that one trip across the not even completely lain floor was enough to ruin it.

Upset and dismayed, I called the local Gig Harbor store where I purchased the flooring. I spoke with Evelyn Davis, who was wonderful, who indicated that whoever recommended that flooring had mis lead me and I should take the flooring back (both the unopened and opened boxes would be honored as returns she said) and they would give me a cash refund since they misrepresented the product to me.

When I went to the store on Saturday the 4th, Ms. Davis was not in.

The manager on duty, however, refused to provide me with a refund. Instead he issued a "store credit" card and led me back to the flooring section where he indicated that they didn't even have any hardwoods that met my needs. However, I'm still stuck with a worthless "store credit only" card!

I feel as though they stole nearly $1400 of my hard-earned money as I NEVER would have purchased any flooring from them had they been honest when I specifically asked what product to buy. I could have purchased a different hardwood somewhere that had a hard-enough product for me. I hate laminate and will never put it in my house.
