Higgins Plumbing / Shoddy work
I had Higgins Plumbing come out to repair a leak in a shower. The leak was not repaired, or it was not repaired correctly. Long and short, found the leak 2 years later after floors bowed, water accumulated below our historic house and mold developed in the closet that shares a wall with where "repair" was done. The mold, which is making me very sick, has spread through the house now.
Tried to get the plumber to give his insurance info, FOR A MONTH...but he refused to cooperate. He answered an email saying he would, and never did. Sent him a registered letter, still no response.
When I FINALLY tracked down the insurance company info, with the help of City and State ofiicials, the Insurance company sic'd a LAWYER on me, after telling me this guy no longer has insurance, BUT he did when this "repair" was done. Now the insurance company's "pitbull" is trying to fight it. Said she had to "pull some CASE LAW" to find out if the policy covers mold. WHAT? Case law? Hmmm, last time I checked, insurance companies issued insurance policies, not Case Law.
And General Liability insurance on a contractor COVERS MOLD and any damage caused by the Insured.
BTW...I AM A CONTRACTOR, too! So I know how the GL works...
My attorney says to go after Higgins legally and make him go after his own insurance company. GOOD advice...
