Hertz discrimination against handicapped person

Date of Incident-12-26-17/Rental number-H33562970-Greenwood, SC, Description of Incident: Discrimination against a handicapped and older person
State Farm recommended Hertz car rental while damaged car was being repaired.
Many violations of discrimination, disrespect and common courtesy and customer service. Rude pick up driver, John, who sat in the rental car and listened to music, as I, a 70 year old handicapped lady with walking difficulty with a cane, and the car repair middle aged lady had to move 2 heavy suitcases from the damaged car to rental car; Additionally, driver drove too fast, did not park in or close to handicapped space at rental office, so I had to walk with great difficulty with cane over asphalt and dangerously wide drainage grate to get into the office. Once inside, [censored]/Sassy-she changed the pronunciation, LAUGHED when I told her that the driver would not help with my bags! [censored]/Sassy(?) would not allow me, a clean, proper and handicapped person, whom she said was from the "public" to use the restroom! I am not from the public, I am a PAYING CUSTOMER and I was in considerable discomfort. This office/person is totally unprofessional in her attitude and actions. I had to ask for a chair in order to be seated close enough to see and hear her over the very high counter and high stool she was seated behind and on. This 4"10" little old handicapped lady could not see over that counter. Then when we had completed the rental agreement and we went outside to get in the car, after I followed her instructions to push the button while my foot was on the brake, exactly as she had said, the car would not start! I then stated I HAD to go to the restroom. I then had to walk with a cane with great difficulty and go back over the dangerous grate and the asphalt to finally be allowed to use the restroom inside! She then blamed it on ME that the car would not start. At that point, I just wanted to get out of that rude and disrespectful place. I have never received such discriminatory, disappointing, disgraceful and disrespectful treatment in any customer service situation. I have tried FOUR times to report this incident to Hertz, and that is another customer service debacle that is another comedy of errors as bad as the first incident. I have a case identifier of [protected] that I received from April-#2111 identifier in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She stated a supervisor would call me back within the hour and it is now 12-30-17 and I spoke to her on 12-28-17 AND I HAVE STILL NOT HEARD FROM ANYONE. I reported this incident to State Farm also. I do not want any free rental services or any other free service from Hertz. I will never recommend Hertz or use them again. A letter of apology is not sufficient for this level of disrespect and discriminatory behavior at the hands of your agent. To Hertz: Please respond at your earliest convenience.

Hertz poor customer service and inability to provide me with a car that was reserved in advance and lack of knowledge of customer service

Two very obnoxious countermen I encountered at your store at 901 Sunrise Blvd. in Ft Laud FL. I walked in with a reservation # and was told that they did not have a car for me after I drove thirty miles to get there. They did not seem to care about me and could not provide me with a car in spite of my reservation. They were two very young bearded punks with bad attitudes. I travel frequently and use rented cars quite often. I would recommend that they be reprimanded for their bad service. I would like to use your service again but I think you should take a better look at your staff and consider the people that represent your company a little closer. VERY RUDE

Hertz horrible, unprofessional company

My car in shop was supposed to be ready by 10:00 12/28. Mechanic called to say it was not going to be ready till Friday. 12/29. Called Hertz Rentals and reserved a car for pickup 10:00, 12/28. Needed the vehicle to trace 1.5 hrs to surgical review Appointment! Got a neighbor to drive me down to Hertz. We went in and am so thankful she went in with me or I would have been stranded! The clerk was frowning, no greeting, and the first words out of her mouth was, "we don't have any cars!" I stated I had a reservation and she said she didn't have a car for me. The next five minutes were difficult as she was unwilling to act like a customer service rep. Insisting that she had been calling me all morning...this proves to be a lie as I had been home all morning until 10:00 waiting for my ride to take me to Hertz. There were no !messages not hertz number or missed calls! Went back home and spent two more hours reporting and and talking to National Office, thought they got me a car from a neighboring office and pickup but did not happen, again, the Corporate passes the buck. If I miss this pre-ok appoimtment, my surgery will be delayed and I will not be able to return to work on the date scheduled...I lose my position! These companies should have some regulations to keep them legit or close them up! There must be some recourse for victims of poor work ethics!

Hertz car rental

I made a reservation on Nov 17, 2017 H4882315647 full size for 2 weeks. I was scheduled to pickup the car on Dec 21 at 10 am at the Lancadter, CA location. When I arrived they told me no cars were available and would be about an hour before a car would be available. Two hours later I called and was told they did not know when a car would be available. I called back 15 min later to cancel the reservation and they suddenly found a car. They said I should come to pickup the car in 45 min. When I returned, I had to wait another 45 min for the car to be available. Then, after receiving the car, I found it had only 1/2 tank of fuel and this was not noted on the rental agreement. I find everything about this transaction to be very unprofessional.

Hertz smoking policy

My name is Shirrellia Smith and I rented a car for my granddaughter and when we returned the car the agent said that someone had been smoking in the car. I informed him that my granddaughter did not smoke and she may have friends that smoke but before she had her accident she did not let anyone smoke in her car so I know she did not let them smoke in a rental car. Hertz went into my account without my knowledge and charged me $300.00 for a smoking fee. I did called customer service and the did refund 50% of the fee. My compliant is if my granddaughter did not smoke in the car nor did her friend because she knows better and if smoke was on their cloths how can you just assume that someone was smoking in the car . Your agent was very rude and insisted that he was go charge me $300.00. I asked him to show me where the charge $300.00 and he could not and I myself looked for that amount and could not find it.

Hertz peachtree city office is horrible

We got a reservation at 8:30 with a confirmation number today 12/20, we went to pick up the reserved suv and the person in the office looked horrible all wrinkled and sloppy told us they did not have the reservation because the system did not update. Then he gave us some [censor] about having to have used statefarm. A totally ignorant excuse. This office needs all new employees and manager or just close the damn office. It is a disgrace. We then called the main office to complain and were told to go to fayetteville. When we go there they did not have what was reserved and promised. You all are going to go out of business at this rate. This is a sad sorry shame. I will never rent from this bunch of incompetent folks ever again. Poor everything!

Hertz found item number: 4013551 reference number: 4025451

Everything was perfect regarding my car pick up and car drop off. I accidentally left a pair of sunglasses in the car. I filled out the proper paperwork and Hertz found the glasses and mailed them to us.

I was shocked to find out the cost to ship them from Sacramento CA to Citrus Heights, CA was $27.00.

This $27.00 seems excessive.

I emailed the Hertz Sacramento and I am awaiting an answer re the high charge. Below is the email .

Hi Mrs. Khmer,

Thank you for your email. My mom left her glasses in the rental and was glad to know that Hertz found them and returned them to the lost and found area.

I filed a claim on the Hertz website and my mom spoke with Hertz and they were able to set up a time to ship the glasses back to her. She also informed me that the shipping cost was $27.00!  I am assuming there is a handling charge included. 

This fee seems extremely high to me. Is this the normal shipping cost?  
 

I loved renting from Hertz as being a gold member it is easy to pick up a car, but was surprised at the outrageous shipping cost. Is this a normal cost for a pair of sunglasses from Sacramento, CA to Citrus Heights, CA?

Hertz rude behavior & incompetent customer service

Worst, rudest and most incompetent service like ever! When I read the reviews online, I could not believe it until I encountered it myself. To start with the customer service agent wrote a WRONG contract, and without car inspection report! I used to wait for him on the call for like an hour, yes seriously an hour. Then this manager tried to fix it but made it worse by denying the conversation we had where he claimed he will make it up to me, "I don't recall having this conversation" on the day returned the car. And on the day I returned the car, I had an argument with him, he asked me to exit HIS store! And he terminated my contract. Needless to mention the wait time in the store and how challenging it is to get there through GPS navigation. Location: 707 7th St. Washington DC NW or 601 F Street Washington DC NW

Hertz the car rental process and that location

I was involved in a car accident that afforded me a car rental from Hertz for which I am grateful. When my reservation was placed by State farm they - your staff could not find it in your system. The closest location based on the phone number I was given was Union Station. When we have accidents and your system knows that based on an insurance company communicating the rental, the hand holding a customer should begin. I am not a public transportation traveler in Chicago and drive everywhere. The customer service staff need to be trained on walking a customer through every detail of a rental. I was asked for my contact number to send someone from Hertz to pick me up but had no idea they were going to text me and not call me when a lift.. OH A LYFT.. is a service that picks up people. I was waiting for a call on my cell and the driver of the Lyft came and went from my car repair shop. The message from Hertz says you can call him but you cannot unless you have a LYFT app on your phone. How would I ever know that? I called back Hertz no less than 4 times to get the LYFT re sent. I finally said YOU HAVE TO HELP me here. The garage is closing at 5 and it is getting dark. I f I do not get a ride soon I have no way to get my rental. The noise on the background when you call Union Station Hertz is so bad because of the location next to Amtrak speakers you think you are talking on a runway. A Lyft finally came. When I got to Union Station via Lyft to get my rental there are no signs at the entry to tell you where you are located in the station. My service person had only been there 3 months and she admitted she did not know how to direct me in to your desk there. They should know the station inside out to talk people in who have never been there. The walk to the garage is a killer and you should provide some carts going to or coming from garage, I was carrying a box of items from my damaged car. The rental, a Rogue is so scratched and basic interior and was not clean. I had to being it back the next day because the back door said it was open when it was not. Your staff told me the garage address is 310 South Clinton but that is Beggars Pizza. When I complained about that back door on the car the staff said they would leave a note for the manager to call me but they never did. The SUV I got instead was a Ford Escape loaded for the same price and I should have gotten a cheaper rate on the broken down Roque which had nothing on it. The Ford Escape was very nice and no issues. When I called to say I was bringing it in as my car was repaired they said no issue and I said I would need a ride to my repair place, and I was told no charge. I brought the car back full of gas and they closed it out saying it was $134 but I had to pull out of him that was my final charges and then asked so I have over prepaid correct and will get a refund to my credit card? He said yes. I was picked up by a LYFT - thank you it went well. people can be trained to a job but unless they are willing to hand hold - they do not belong behind your desk. Your female staff there were very helpful. I have called there so much with issues they know me on sight now. I had to ask him if I get a receipt for my rental and he handed it to me off the desk. They will not forget me I am sure and I was polite but really direct with them. The Hertz rep called no less that 4 other locations to find a manager who had authority to send a LYFT for me. The manager at Union Station...? I asked is that person ever here? They said oh they are at lunch? It was 3pm. They never answered your staff's calls to authorize a LYFT for me to get me to the repair place after I turned in my rental. A manager from another Hertz had to do it. I was afraid I would have no way back if they never reached anyone. Only a manager can call for a LYFT? Then they should be reachable. I do not think a person who rents a car should have to go though this and I look forward to crediting back the money I paid in excess. I will be checking my credit card bill for rental money I prepaid but did not use for my upgrade. I am sorry to say better training is needed. Spewing out info does not equal great customer service

Our 19 year old son had almost $2000 deducted from his account with no warning after he was in an accident with a rental car. The other driver was at fault and was ticketed. He should not have been charged for the towing. I firmly believe he was taken advantage of because of his age. The situation has been going on since September with no refund if money...

Hertz manager at location

My husband and I rented a car from Hertz in Elizabethtown, KY around the end of September 2017 or the beginning of October 2017 for a trip that we were taking in October. I reserved the car and arrange to pick it up sometime after lunch on the day before we were to leave. When we arrived at the office of the car rental the manager was attempting to leave even though the sign said that they were open until 5:30PM. We arrived around 5:00PM. When I requested our car she said that she did not have a car for us because we reserved one too late. When I explained to her that we had reserved the car at least 2 weeks earlier she looked us up on her computer and admitted her mistake. She stated that she had a car that had just been returned but was not clean and although it was not the car we ordered we agreed to accept it. The manager did not leave the office to check the car prior to our leaving with it as other managers had done when we rented before. We ordered a car with a full tank of gas, which this car did not have but we were charged for, and full coverage, thank heavens. The manager locked the door and left with her helper who was in the back of the building behind us when we left the office to check the car. Our trip was fairly uneventful as far as the car was concerned until the last day when the car requested an oil change. This stayed on all the way home. When I proceeded to return the car to Hertz the oil light went out and the low tire pressure light came on. About 20 minutes after this happened the left rear driver's side tire blew out. When I called the office to report the problem no one answered the phone. My husband was sitting in the office waiting for me to show up with the car and he said that the manager and her helper were both in the back of the business and no one was minding the phones. I then called the Hertz emergency roadside assistance and was told to use my AAA to fix the tire even though I had insurance with them. Luckily I managed to contact my son-in-law and he changed the tire for me. When I arrived back at the office and told the manager of the problems that I had had she apologized but said that they would have to charge me $100.00 for the tire. I reminded her that I had full coverage on the car. She did not even check the car back in when I arrived. My original quote for renting the car was $248.00 my credit card was charged $342.00. I have filed a complaint with Hertz and will not be renting from them again especially if the current manager remains employed there. We have used Hertz for years and this is the worst experience we've ever had.

Hertz jaguar

I had three rentals prior to this rental in the Mercedes that I could drive over 40 miles an hour that smelled like dog then they have the audacity to give me an infinity that smelled like urine then my next trip I figured I'd give them the benefit of the doubt I rent a jaguar and I drive 15 miles on a major interstate and have a blowout and they cannot help me for two hours stranded with my wife and children in the vehicle Where I had to change the tire and the spare was almost flat now I can't get anybody to answer me back almost 2 hours worst service ever I would never recommend hurts

Hertz fraud

I have been threatened and harassed by your San Diego location at the airport.
My ex husband and I are in a domestic violence case which involves 4 children.
I have have been told that you are going to put be in prison and charged with grand theft auto.
I don't know what is going on but I am going sue you and litigate Hertz Corporation
Your agents have called my family to say that I have stolen a vehicle. This is unbelievable and slanderous. My email address is

Hertz a do not rent stamp, refusal to rent but accepted reservation and no replies to my complaining email

This all happened at Hertz, Johannesburg, o r tambo airport .

Hertz a certified 2016 vehicle purchase in may 2017

I stared having problems with my vehicle in November 2017. Your hertz sales office in Las Vegas has taken care of the problems and I will be picking it up today. Approximately 24 hours of income was lost due to vehicle not running. I was finally given a rental at Hertz's expense, which I appreciate, but the 24 hrs lost without paid has hurt my budget very badly. Sales manager at location in Torrance, CA said to contact your office regarding being reimbursed for the hrs. The total lost is $9.50 x 24 come to $228.00. If you need documentation regarding this matter, let me know. Chase Bank financed the car and I did speak to someone at the bank about the situation.

Hertz rental car

I rented a car from Hertz in Colonial Heights VA a Nissan Versa. I returned car prior to service end date because the oil needed to be changed and I did't want to burn the engine up. When I was given another vehicle with cigarette burns in the seats and missing floor mats and upon driving away i discovered a missing spare tire. Needless to say I was pissed I wasn't told it didn't have a spare. Jamal the sales rep said he would either find me another vehicle or give me the one I had before back the next day after it's oil had been changed. I called him 5 times throughout the day and he told me it had not been finished yet. I call him and come to find out that my vehicle the one that he said would be returned to me was already given away that afternoon. So he had been lying to me the whole time! His excuse? " I guess I dropped the ball" his attitude was unapologetic he seemed not to care and almost seem jubilant at the fact that he had given my promised vehicle away. I can't speak to his motive but he is a horrible person to represent Hertz!

I prepaid for my Hertz car and went into the Hemet, Ca. franchise to pick up my vehicle. The manager made us wait while he went on and on with a personal phone call. Then when it comes time to rent after I have been charged, he tells me that the only cars he has one needs an oil change and the other is missing a hub cap. Apparently it came off the vehicle with the last driver. When I didn't want the vehicle with the missing hub cap, the air became tense. One person told me that they would put a hub cap from another car. But we don't know if the wheel was bent and that's why the hub cap came off. They couldn't get the other car in to get the oil change. When I asked to cancel and get a refund, one service person became belligerent and said that I would have to contact customer service. The other service rep kept yelling that it was just a hub cab and hub caps come off. I have been driving for 40 years and I have never lost a hub cap. They charged the previous driver for the missing hub cap. So now I have to wait and see if customer service will refund my money. This is the worst customer service that I have ever experience. I couldn't believe that he was yelling at me it was just a hub cap. When I refused to respond, he walked away and said "fine take care of your business" and walked out.

Our airline changed our flight putting us 12 hours ahead into Edmonton. Hertz are charging us $25 more for the 12 hours than they would for a whole day's rental at the same location. (I checked on line). I'm surprised a multinational company would exploit its customers like this rather than trying to help. Or perhaps I'm not surprised.

Hertz horrible customer service

Richard & Sharon Heptner; Car Rental from October 4-10, 2017 at Pittsburgh Airport
Arrived in the evening; Agent at second window wouldn't even help us because we weren't Gold Club members, so he just stood there. Agent promised to send someone to inspect car; never happened. We found damage and photographed it. Took me days to reach someone - who WAS friendly & efficient - who promised to advise airport team that damage was PRE-EXISTING.
After returning home, received an email with a survey which I filled out. Got a return call on my cell, but the Hertz Agent wouldn't speak to me because my husband was the name on rental. I told him I was sure I could help him because I did the survey, but he rudely declined. I gave him my home number for my husband; he told him he agreed with everything I put on the survey. At this point the guy got very belligerent and said, "So everything in Pittsburgh was perfect except us" and my husband asked him for a Supervisor which he continued to rant on about. My husband told him that he messed with the wrong person, that he would not let this go.

Hertz cancellation fee

I've instructed all y employees to no longer rent with Hertz
your cancelation policy is ridiculous and absurd.
I rented a car for Dec 7 2017 and the business trip got cancelled . I called today Nov 21 2017 to cancel and was told I have a $50.00 cancelation fee. First you can not even understand the customer service clerk and secondly no problem. Since I am the president and owner of our company I've instructed all employees no matter what their previous perks with Hertz are that we will no longer be using hertz and their shove their cancelation policy where the sun don't shine

Hertz rude employee at hertz

My boyfriend went to rent a car at Hertz through AAA because some girl had hit his car and he went there they didn't tell them tell him that he needed to have $50 on the debit or credit card so the girl that was working there and got rude they had already paid picked him up from the auto body place and she was just rude and told him that he had to wait to get a ride and she was cussing and everything and she called the cops on him when my boyfriend was not in the wrong it was hurts and Antioch California

Hertz hertz rent2buy program; hertz rental; hertz car sales

To whom it may concern,

I was about to purchase a vehicle through hertz car sales but after finding out that the vehicle I was about to buy did not have car mats and car cover I decided to go through the rent2buy program. I was misinformed of the following:

1) When I called Hertz Rental office in Torrance as well as Hertzrent2buy I was assured that the vehicle included car mats and cargo cover.

2) I was informed that hertzrent2buy vehicles are also hertz certified. I talked to sales and they said that they couldn't do anything about it. Nobody can even tell me when the last oil change was.

3) I was informed that as soon as I decide to purchase the vehicle I will get a reversal on my credit card for the 3 day rental. As of this time they have charged me over $700. I have basically bought the vehicle already. People keep on passing me around. Rental office said that I need to speak to sales then sales said I need to speak to rent2buy. When I called rent2buy they said it is now sales because I already purchased the car.

This is a ridiculous process and the employees that I have been dealing with do not know what they are talking about.

I will make sure to write a detailed review on yelp and social media so my nightmare will not happen to someone else.

I would like to be given the car mats and car cover that I was told was included in the car. And also to expedite my car rental refund.
