Heritage Warranty review: non payment of pre approved repair 43

This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

After pre approving repairs the company said I had to pay the dealer up front, submit a claim and they would reimburse me for $427.95. I filed the claim in March, 2008. After no response I sent a letter to the claims office, and another a month later. I received a letter saying the claim was in the system waiting for the carrier to clear it for payment. I called them and asked for a way to speak to the carrier to clear up any problems. They would not give me a phone number or any information. All research shows that Heritage Warranty moved from Lincoln, Nebraska to Dublin, Ohio. There is no way for me to speak to anyone about what it takes to clear the claim for payment.

This will serve as an update to my original message, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and it has been accepted by their Kansas office and a letter sent to "Extreme Warranty" regarding heritage warranty. I don't know why, but they have until the 27th to reply. I suggest anyone with this problem file a claim.

Here is the info they sent to me:
The complaint was received by the BBB on July 16, 2008 and has been assigned case# [protected] in our files. Please make a note of this number.

Your complaint has been applied to the following business:
Extreme Warranty

I have filed a complaint with my state department of insurance and they forwarded it to the attorney general's office. If south carolina has siezed their assets perhaps they will coordinate with other states. wouldn't hurt to file with your state department of insurance just in case they deal with this in a class action or decide to partial out the assets to those they owe.

Ihad work approved in 11/2008 and was told i had to pay and be reimbersed which had never happened before. I was not very happy but did it because my car needed fixing, i was told i would get my check with in 6 weeks. After 3 months i continually called like everyone else to be told the same lies. Igot no where with the attorney general as well (what a joke) today 1/30/2010 i received a check im very surprised i had given up 14 months later, so i wanted to tell everyone i guess dont give up there is hope, good luck to all of you.

I also have on on going run a round with Heritage. We bought a warranty it 2001 on our new motorhome for a 7 year period. The contract stated, and one of the reasons I bought it, that if no claims were made during the warranty period the purchase amount would be refunded. In our case that is $2995.00. I filed the proper paperwork in Jan 2009 and the date for the refund keeps getting put of into the future. It has now been more than a year. The latest date they posted for my refund is Sept 2011. That is TWO AND A HALF YEARS after I should have gotten the refund. I am still working on getting a refund from them and will not give up. If anyone has any ideas on what to do I will take all the advice you can give. I think we should all drive our motorhomes to their offices and block 'em in till they pay. To me what they are doing and how they operate is worse than a robbery and deserves jail time.

We have 2 repair bills totaling over $2200.00 submitted june of 2009. I just checked the Heritage waranty web site and it said estimated payment was 8/31/2011. How's that for quick service. We waited over a year for one bill to be paid for 950.00 and it was all preapproved, but what they sent was 250.00. Is there a class action suit out there? Is there an attorney willing to take one on? Do you know that heritage can still sell policies in the state of Washington? What's up with that! Most of us buy policies so we don't have to worry if something happens. So we paid 6000.00 for a worthless piece of crap, and still have to shell out. I wish we had left our motorhome at the dealer until heritage paid the bill. If there is a next time, We will do just that. I wish everyone good luck and I am sorry that there are so many in the same boat. Keep paddeling.

This is hopeless! We have one claim for 1723.72 and one for 451.58. I just checked the Heritage site and it says estimated pament date is 8/31/2011. This work was done in June of 2009. I also found out that they started having problems in 2004 and I am really pissed at the dealer (Roy R0binson's) for selling us the waranty. I fully intend to follow this through. FYI Heritage is still selling contracts in some states including Washington. Not all states have taken action, so be careful what you buy.

Have the same problem with repair work for my RV. If you go to HERITAGEWARRANTY.COM it will explain the why and wherefor's. One can only hope that the company administering the Heritage contracts will receive funds to pay off any repairwork approved by them.

I took my v echicle to lexus of Fife/Tacoma, Washington and was approved for repairs. Third party did not release information about heritage - Yes, my vehicle remains at the dealership after 3 weeks because I refuesed to use my credit card for payment. Thanks to the state insurasnce dept. The agencyprovided me good information about Heritage. Some one need to stop the third party company from approving and getting people into problem. I can survive not listening to radio - Now I'm stuck with about $2000.00 to pay before my car is released. This needs to stop. I hope law enforcement will shut the company down.

I purchased an $1864 service warranty contract with Heritage when I bought a used Odyssey in 2003. The contract stated that the purchase price would be refunded less any warranty costs paid out after six years. I carefully, deliberately prepared the data package, submitted it on time using certified mail, worked through discrepancies in the data package, again via certified mail, and proceeded to encounter the same balderdash you've read about several times over. I contacted the Ohio Attorney General based on recommendations made above (Richard Cordray) who conducted research, attempted unsuccessfully to contact the maligned company, and responded to my claim 7/23/09 with "I have received no communication from them. It does not appear that they plan to respond or participate in our dispute resolution process. Therefore, if you wish to purse this matter further, you will need to consider filing a private action." "If you wish to pursue the matter further, you may have the option of filing in Small Claims Court." The statue of limitations is two years. I will attempt to contact Ms. Pagent as suggested above next. If only we could file a class action suit - surely there are enough people on the "screwed" list to provide a lawyer a nice settlement. The suit should name Heritage and, as an accomplice, Administrative Services.

I am in the same boat... owed over $800 for work done in April. They used to pay the shop directly by credit card, but stopped that practice, apparently, and are making us pay out of pocket. I called the OH Attorney General's office today, and spoke with a woman there (Susan) who is EXTREMELY familiar with Heritage, and has received many complaints about them. I'll be getting my packet in the mail in the next week to file my formal complaint. She said that they do have a pretty good success rate in getting the claims paid. The OH Attorney General office phone is 800.828.0515. Every time I have called Heritage, I get nowhere, and told that they have no way of contacting the "paying office". I will be sending them a certified letter tomorrow stating that I have turned them into the BBB and the Attorney General's office. We'll see if that gets me anywhere... my guess is no.

Heritage, Administrative Services, Dimension Services, NASC are all the "same" company, Differnet phone numbers but all in the same office. When they say they are waiting for payment from the "carrier', they mean they are waiting for them to pay it. They are all owned by thew same guy. Hatham ELZAYN, there is also a CEO listed as a female with a different last name, but after further research on some documents she has the same last name as Hatham, probably using her madam name.

I even found there home address and number. I have been calling but no one will answer! They have a VERY nice house, on a golf course fairway in an upscale neighborhood.

If Hatham somehow reads this i would like him to give me a call.

Sorry to see so many people going through the same thing. We are transmission repair shop that did repiars to a vehicle and Heritage approved 1217.87 on 4-16-08 .Now its been 14 months, I dont think were going to get paid.If there is only some way to stop this company from the sale of boguss warranties to consumers, making the owner of vehicle and the people that work on them to flip the bill. For every one person on this list thier is probabley 500 more. They just need to be STOPPED.

Well ditto to what everyone else has said. My claim is for $559.92 and it was filed in February 2009. I am getting the exact same run around everyone else is. I filed a complaint with the BBBin Ohio and will keep everyone posted on that front as well as I have called and ledt messages for Sahara and Kenneth. Keeping my fingers crossed I at least get my claim, but think I want the whole policy refunded as it is not a valid policy. I think everyone should ask for their money back and shut them down from doing further business - EVER!

On Nov 19, 2008 we received authorization for repair work. The authorization number is LO830888 in the amount of $87 1.98. As of this date, April 9, 2009, the claim remains unpaid. Heritage Warranty located in Lincoln, NE has an unlisted phone number. Professional information for said company lists Peter A. Knolla as Legal Counsel.

We will be checking this site to see if there is joint legal action taken.

I received my check of $1700.00 from Heritage. It was first filed 2 months ago (9/4/08).
My contact person in SC is: Darryl Vanderhorst at [protected] and Sara Pagent [protected] and [protected]. Give them your contract number and any other info. These are direct numbers to their offices and quickly answered and returned my calls. They may not have been directly involved with my recovery of my refund but they are on the case with Heritage.
HERITAGE IS PAYING THE REFUNDS! Very slowly but still paying is better than nothing.

I have been told by Ken Hilliard of Heritage [protected] ex 4134) and others that their assetts were frozen by the State of South Carolina. Apparently another lie by Heritage to avoid payments to those of us who have them coming.

According to the S.C. Dpt. of Insurance, no money has been frozen. Heritage can pay claims and conduct buisness as usual. No funds have to be released by the state or any other government agency.

As of today, October 7, 2007 Heritage is only under investigation for not paying for repairs that they authorized

I also thought this was true due to the buzz about Heritage. But after talking directly to the state, I found this is not the case. The state of S.C. isn't going to take any more crap from Heritage. Call Mrs. pagent and tell her your problem with Heritage

WE AREN'T GETTING REINBURSED BECAUSE HERITAGE DOES NOT WANT TO PAY... PERIOD...

IF HERITAGE OWES YOU MONEY FOR AN APPROVED CLAIM AND THEY WILL NOT PAY.

1. CONTACT SAHARA PAGENT AT THE SOUTH CAROLINA DPT. OF INSURANCE [protected] THIS IS A DIRECT LINE TO HER.
SHE WILL HELP YOU.
2.CONTACT THE OHIO STATE ATTOURNEY GENERALS OFFICE

As I said earlier, Hope none of you have to go through this.
Today I was finally able to talk to an actual human being at Heritage administrative services. Mr. Ken Hilliard, [protected] ex 4134, Claims manager for Heritage/ Admisistrative services. Don't listen to the bull, it's the same company. I was amazed to get a lecture from him about my "ATTITUDE"? That's why Administrative services hasn't called me back after 3+ months and counting. Not to mention the 50 or so voice mails that they didn't respond to?
This number was provide to me by the person who actually answer's the phone for Mr, El Zayn( company president/owner)
[protected]
The short story is that Mr. Hilliard told me that the state of South Carolina has frozen the assets of Heritage admisistrative services/ Heritage Warrenty and I would have to figure out how to contact them on my own...
[protected] is the number for the state of South Carolina Dpt. of Insurance. The point of contact is Sahra Pagent, I have not made contact with Ms. Pagent, but will update you when I find out more info.
This should speak volumes about a company... Sorry we can't pay you now because our deceptive and misleading buisness practices have our assetts frozen for the time being?
Another interesting tidbit. I found a Website this weekend,
HeritageWarrantyScam.com. I thought I was Pissed! but this guy must have really been taken by Heritage. He had sattleite photos of the Mr. El Zayn/Owner's along with Peter Knolla's (Company secretary), house, home address and home phone numbers.
That site is temporarily down after this weekend, for reasons unknown? but I'm sure it will soon be back up soon.

I LOVE POEPLE WHO FIGHT BACK!

As soon as I figure out how to recieve payment from Heritage I will post this info for all of the others who are in the same boat.
Don't let this company take your money and leave you holding the bag.
Hope this has been helpful.
Been taken by Heritage, E-Mail me at gdalkiewicz@yahoo.com

hope that the many people who purchased a Heritage warranty don't have to go through the ordeal that I am going through. My wife and I purchased an RV in 04, at the same time we purchased a Heritage Platinum RV warraanty... In July of 08 we had our first and only claim. I called the number on my contract and had my claim approved by Sam (These spine less employees will never give their last name) at Heritage Administrative Service, [protected] ex 4137). Everything seemed ok, I was told that I could pay the bill ($2439.55) minus my $50.00 deductible and Heritage will have my check in the mail ASAP. I paid the bill. I was told that Heritage would hold up their end of the contract...
This was a done deal in July of 08. As of today, October of 08, I have seen nothing from Heritage.
In fact I have called every number in my contract and get the same answer... We are a third party agency and can't give you any one who is actually associated with Heritage to talk with. We only have a computer program that links us to Heritage, other than that we can't give you any number to a Heritage representitave or anyone who took your money, Bla, Bla, Bla... These people are puppets of the higher ups in management.
I paid $3000.00 for this warranty. I paid $2, 439.56 for the covered repair. As of now I am out $5, 439.56
Heritage claims that the warranty coverage could exceed the cost of the vehicle.
I say B.S.
They want your money and will give you nothing in return...
I am just an average person, I work hard every day, I pay my bills, I don't take advantage of anyone. Our dream was to buy an RV and enrich our lives. Not a new one, something that we could afford, but I worked my tail off to afford it...
After months of getting a run around, I am not going to take this any more.
I paid for a product... I WILL NOT HAVE MY HARD EARNED MONEY STOLEN BY HERITAGE ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES...
After months of research I have foound the following.

Company owner. Haytham Elzaym
400 Metro Place N.
Suite 300
Doublin, Ohio 43017

Phone number of the assistant of the CEO
[protected]
Also if the person who answers the phone tells you that you are in touch with Dimension, not Heritage. It's B.S. also...
Haytham Elzaym owns both company's.
I have a complaint with the Ohio Attorney Gereral's Office. [protected] against Heritage. This office is very helpful with scammers like Heritage.
I would like to thank Greg Gerber from RV Industries News for helping me with my journey

Paid $4, 297 premium for 4/48 motorhome coverage in 5/05. Filed authorized claim 8/08 for $1618.00. Called 9/08 - "payment request submitted". Received call 9/30/08 from National Admin Services (Gordon) who said Heritage assets seized by SC DOI. He offered to sell me a new policy including reimbursement of unused premium ($497) and reimbursement of $1618 within 4 weeks for a premium of $4, 797 for a 3/36 extended warranty. This is actionable via a lawsuit against both Heritage and their "broker" National Administrative Services - it's called a "switch and bait" scheme. I'm filing a lawsuit against the dealer who sold the policy as well as filing several BBB reports. I bet the management of Heritage could care less at this point.

Lib here again... Good news! I received 2 reimbursement checks today for both repairs mentioned in my previous post. I contacted the Federal Trade Commission, Columbus OH BBB, Ohio Attorney General and the Illinois Attorney General with supporting documents (copies of receipts, contract etc) and got results. I STRONGLY recommend everybody who's been screwed do the same. Good luck!

I want to sew these people. I paid $875.00 for repairs because I was told by Heritage that they would reimburse me by check, which I thought was odd from the beginning. It just doesn't make any sense. My claim, per 3rd party scammer, said was received 15 May 2008...It is now 2 September 2008 and guess what?; no payment. I call periodically to check if payment has been sent out but nothing!. I just called today and the answering service is not putting me thru to anyone I can speak with. It seems to me that I am out of luck anyway, judging from all i've read here. Sorry about all your problems pertaining to this sad scam. I am in the process of speaking to my Brother who is a lawyer specializing in Corporate Law. He states that there may be some run around but that they would be able to at least put Heritage out of business if enough people speak out. I invite you all to please send me a email to maganajam@yahoo.com. I will send any info to you as I find out what WE can do.

It sounds like we have all had the same experience.
I had a repair approved by Heritage in March and I a still waiting for my check. The people at the 1-800 are rude and not helpful at all. Apparently Heritage has been sold or is being investigated. The person I bought the policy from no longer sells them and can't do anything to help me. Can we all join a class action or something to get our money? This is a terrible situation. I am very frustrated and out $306.00!

Same as all above. Had "approved" driveshaft work done in Feb 2008, then another repair done in May. Still no payment and called almost a half dozen times to no avail... Total pending is about $1200... Funny thing is, the shop (did both repairs) dealt with Heritage in the past and said they were always a good company... He knew the program--get the repair approved, pay up front and payment to me should only take 6-8 weeks... He was surprised it's been taking so long... From what i've been reading, my suspicions have been making sense---they're prolly going belly up and we're all screwed... I'm going to contact the Illinois attorney General's office...

I am in the same boat. The repair facility, the dealership that sold me the warranty and I have been calling over and over again since April and we are getting the EXACT same thing everyone else is. Can someone please tell me how a 3rd party can do business for/with a company that they have no contact information for?!?!?!?! I have even spoken to the same people, "Ashley" had the biggest attitude. "Paul" was the only person who gave me any info to attempt to go on and that was that Heritage is in South Carolina now. Of course that helped me find the seizure article and usarisk.com but I am not sure that anyone will be able to help there, of course no one answers! The dealership that sold me the warranty spoke with someone and they said that South Carolina seized all warranty/insurance info to do an audit because some doctors office was committing some kind of fraud, supposedly this will take about 2 months...so when did the seizure actually happen? I have no answers here and I have paid the repair facility, I am currently out $207. Submitting a complaint to BBB.org and seriously wondering if our smaller repair is worth all of this hassle!

Same problem as everyone else! We had repairs done seven months ago and are still waiting to recieve payment! I have called this so-called third party answering service, have spoken to the same 5 or 6 people that always answer the phone and have been given the same story over and over again. And surprise, they don't have a phone number or email address or any contact information for Heritage. But somehow, they are able to field all of these phone calls for them? I've been read the "script" several times, have spoken to so-called "supervisors" and have been told over and over again that they have no other information for me other than that they are waiting for payment to be released from Heritage. I was originally told that we would be put on a list that will go to "Ken Hillard" (who I am unable to talk to myself, or so I'm told) in order to make the process go more quickly (after seven months). However, when I talked to "Paul" who claimed to be a supervisor of some kind (and was extremely rude and unproffessional) he said there was no such list, he didn't know what I was talking about and why anyone would have told me that (I was told that on 6 different occasions). Well the people he "supervises" are the ones who told me about this list that supposedly exists, so I guess that would be something he should look into. Anyhow, after I pressed him for more information and then asked to speak to his supervisor since he couldn't tell me anything, he told me that he was not going to "allow me to tie up his line" and that he was going to "release" the call. We've called the dealership and they are trying to help us, but have not had any more luck than us. They also said that they used to pay up front with a credit card, but are now "cutting checks." I am certain we won't be getting our money anytime soon, but hope that something will be done about this. It is totally unfair and just not right.

July 2008

Seizer of Heritage Warranty Risk Retention Group Inc

The South Carolina Department of Insurance is seizing the assets of Heritage Warranty Risk Retention Group Inc., a national insurer of independent vehicle service contracts.

In a suit filed against Heritage, South Carolina Insurance Director Scott Richardson asked a state court to shut down the company's operations and turn over its property to the Insurance Department. Heritage has offices in Charleston, S.C., and Dublin, Ohio.

A lawyer for Heritage did not respond to a request for comment late last week.

We too are having the same problem and the same response. Or shop did work on vehicles and got all the proper authorizations. The 3rd party service gives me the same line. Unfortunately for the customer we are no longer going to take Heritage claims on. They will have to pay up front. :( We too had always been able to get teh money the same day by credit card, but I was informed that the 3rd party used to handle that. On Feb 11, 2008 Heritage decided to take over that and cut their own checks. As far as I can tell, they have not cut a single check.

I am having the same issue with my transmission. I am now out 5000.00 dollars and the 3rd party answering service is the only ones who will talk to me. They will not give me any information expcept that they are waiting for payment. How can I speak to anyone about getting this done? I think they are a fraud company and I am looking into a law suit... who wants to join?

Ditto. In the past, my claims were paid by Heritage with a credit card directly to the garage on the date of repairs. No problem. Now they tell me (after the work has been approved and completed) that I'll have to pay the repairs myself and wait for reimbursement. A month later, the "third party administrator" says the claim has been submitted and I will have to wait for payment. They can give no indication of how long it will take to complete the process. After reading other replies to this thread and other online content, I now have no confidence that I will get payment at all.

Another situation with no luck getting reimbursement. We had our vehicle repaired and are waiting for a check for $345. and they only say they are a third party administrator and have no phone number available. They say they can't give any information and claim they need to release the call and then hang up.

We have been waiting for payment on claims since February, they owe over $5000.00, anyone have any contact info other than Doug, the claims admin guy that seems to always answer the phone?

We are having same problem, we had work that was approved by Heritage's inspector, done in april and after the work was completed, and we paid our 100$ deductlibe, Heritage is not paying their part of the bill. Heritage (National Administrative Services is their 3rd party answering service) just keeps telling us that the repair has been approved to be paid, but the check has not yet been written.. it has been nearly 12 weeks, and now we are being sued by the company whom did the vehicle repairs. If we pay this bill, we will be out 1200.00, of we do not, it will go on our credit history.. HERITAGE SUCKS!

We are having the same problem. Submitted claim in February 2008. Work was pre-approved. The first time I called, the third-party administrator apologized and said they would expedite payment. When I called again today, I was read a script! It was the same information posted above. "We don't know when you'll be paid, we have no control over it, we don't have any contact information for Heritage." This is obviously a wide spread problem if the TPA had to give a script to its telephone operators. We are out $530.
