Headlight Assembly / Would not cover return shipping on a part that was not usable!

Through the Internet I was searching for a Headlight Assembly for a 2005 Cadillac SRX (Right Side) 4-Autoparts.com had the part and agreed to send it to me for $195.00 including shipping and handling. The part arrived several days later and when I inspected the part I noticed that it had only two points on the part for 10 mm bolts. When the assembly is installed it has three points for these fasteners. Facing the assembly on the right edge someone snapped off the part that fastens the headlight assembly to the grill. The purpose of this protrusion is to insure the headlight will not move and stay properly aimed. Without that extension the headlight assembly is not safe. I can see why it was broken off because when you look at one installed properly, that particular fastening point it is very difficult to see and most likely the person removing the part just pulled without releasing the side fastener. I called Charles Moore the principal of 4-Autoparts and told him that the part he sent was not useable and I told him I was returning it. I asked if he had another one and was told no. I also asked him for return shipping labels and he told me he would compensate me for the postage. I shipped the part back in the same box and paid UPS $14.60 for the return. When the package was delivered back to 4-Autoparts they did credit my charge card with the $195 cost of the part. Mr Moore said they were not obligated to return my shipping cost. When I reminded him that he said the company would pay the charges he said well they are not going to do this. I also said because the part he sent could not be used safely and that his company guaranteed for the part to work was ignored, and that I should not have to eat this charge. I said I intended to take appropriate action and he said "Do what you have to do we are not going to compensate you".

I can tell everyone dealing with this company beware. I'll be surprised if they are in business in a year. While my time is worth more than $14.60 in the actions that I will initiate against this company I am taking this time to make sure their sloppy standards don't hurt others.
