Hartford Hospital Dr Larhmann neurologist MDS out of Winsted Connecticut

I had and appointment with Dr Larhmann on November 16 th in his Winsted office. Dr Larhmann is a movement disorder specialists who treated me for Parkinson’s disease. At this time my main complaint was pain, the inability to stand upright and inability to move. I had a scheduled exam with him scheduled for December 8 th so we called and got in early because of the extreme e decline in my quality of life.

Many articles by the Parkinson’s foundation and the Michael JFox foundation have been written on a very painful condition called Parkinson’s dystonia. I had been previously diagnosed with lower body dyskinesia by Dr Rodriquez in 2018. These syndromes over time cause contractions of the muscles that can lead to spasm, pain and detriment in the ability to move ( hence movement disorder)

I have back issues and I have been under the care of Dr. Gutierrez also a Hartford health care physician who is doing everything he possibly can to help me with the pain in my back. I first had a steroid injection in my back in March 2022 I had absolutely no results from. When I went to see Dr. Gutierrez who proceeded to do a nerve block with minimum effect for a minimum period of time so we repeated the nerve block and again received minimum effect over a minimum amount of time. So he ordered ablation of my spine where he actually fuses the nerve endings in my lumbar region to remove any pain signals that I was receiving into my back. I had that these four procedures in a seven month period had exhausted all of my attempts to find a muscle skeletal resolution to my problem.

The articles I read seem to pinpoint my condition precisely. Now could I be wrong? Absolutely. But I need a Doctor Who is willing to at least listen and believe in the science to actually consider the possibility of the reality of these conditions which Michael J Fox foundation claims 30% of people with Parkinson’s have.

So here’s my experience with Dr. Lerhmann, he walks into the office and he asks me what’s going on today and tell him that I’m in excruciating pain. He immediately tells me it’s my back without looking at me ,doing a physical neurological exam or getting his butt off his chair. I asked him how he knew that it was my back and that I thought it was Parkinson’s dystonia and he said it’s not Parkinson’s dystonia. It was amazing because he was sitting on the other side of the room in front of a computer never took a look at me. (the patient) He never did a physical exam as if he knew without looking for he was God and it was clear he has no belief in a condition that 30% of the people with Parkinson’s acquire. He asked me “ Do you even know what Dystonia is? Again his thou art God attitude prevailed. I explained to him in vivid detail what Dystonia is and told him that you have no idea how much pain I am in and that getting out of bed was nearly Impossible. He like a child having his toy taken away said I can’t take this and he stormed out of the room. At which point I got up and left with my care giver who witnessed the entire episode.

I have to say it was the poorest example of professionalism I have ever seen in a doctors office and I have seen a few things. I was previously being seen by Dr Simmons who had left for research some 18 months earlier. When I let Dr Simmons we were discussing a medication increase because it had been a while and I was indicating the necessity for one. In 18 months I never got an increase in meds or was it ever suggest, no treatment for dyskinesia like the possibility of adding amantadine to help with the uncontrolled movements. Also according to all the science and information eight years on lovadopa alone can create these type of painful conditions. But we never discussed them because he clearly doesn’t believe in Parkinson’s pain. I run an online community for people with Parkinson’s and I can get testimony from at least 200 people about their Parkinson’s pain.

Not to mention the stress and aggravation putting on a Parkinson’s patient, how bad that is for their condition by being completely combative and unwilling to listen. He really shouldn’t be seeing patients. I have grave concern for the elderly I advocate for and the type of do nothing treatment they are could be receiving.

Needless to say I have no desire to see him any longer as my neurologist in the mean time he has no concern about the need a Parkinson’s patient has for his medications or the effect of stopping PD medication can have on someone. He wrote in his notes ( he said he will find another doctor I hope he does fine one that can help him with his pain, as if Parkinson’s in no big deal and treatment for my condition is not necessary) if you couldn’t help me you should’ve referred me to someone who could if you did my neurological exam and spoke to me about going back to Dr. Gutierrez or seeing some other specialist first for my pain again which I’ve been doing for the last three years that would’ve shown some form of care but there was none of that. And then to follow up in his notes and say that I should find another Doctor Who can take care of my pain as if I don’t need a Parkinson’s doctor it’s just wrong on so many levels! I don’t need a Parkinson’s Dr. like him that’s for sure!

So I have to act now with urgency to find a new neurologist in area. The uncaring and self inflating attitude is a detriment to the Hartford health care community.

Desired outcome: I would love to see better doctors in your neurology department that treat for Parkinson’s movement disorders! They are out there!

Hartford Hospital Emergency Room visit 6/25/2022

On 6/25/2022 my husband was brought to the Emergency Room around 1:30.

He passed out and was transported by ambulance from Dillon Stadium. He was given an EKG, a cat scan and several blood tests then had to wait for about 9 hours before he was seen by a doctor. When he passed out he also twisted his ankle. When he was seen by the doctor he said it just looked like a bad sprain and they did not do an x-ray even though we thought it might be necessary. Well, 12 days later after walking on the foot as little as possible and no change in his swelling I took him to an Orthopedic Surgeon. His foot is broken and may need surgery. Maybe if an x-ray was done at the time this could have been taken care of sooner.

Hartford Hospital Emergency room doctors staff

I was seen at Hartford emergency room 2.27.22 the staff there mainly er doctors had zero bedside manner. I was talked to very poorly I was asked questions like they didn’t truly want to hear the answer when I would respond they would answer with “can I finish my question “ I was very much talked down to. When I stated what was going on pains and symptoms I have been having and still having it was brushed off two different doctors said word for word “my job here is to make sure you do not hurt yourself while you are here and to make sure you do not die” HORRIBLE HOSPITAL! I see a bunch of people standing around. I heard 4 calls for someone to get assistance for the bathroom! I was a risk for a fall and they let me walk to the bathroom myself numerous times. They took my blood and left a glove on the floor. Blood was on the floor. The left the rail up. Scary place to be if you need help!

Desired outcome: Better healthcare and better doctors!!

Hartford Hospital patient treatment and medical care

I was admitted to hospital for blood cultures and an echo cardiogram prior to semi emergency eye surgery on this Monday. I was admitted in the afternoon after several hours of waiting and was told I would have the echo in the morning. I was not taken to echo and my questions went unanswered. I asked my nurse who basically she she did not know. I spoke with the ID doctor who said he was not part of that process so he did not know. I asked to speak with my doctor who was paged but never called back. At around 5 pm my sister, a PA called the supervising nurse who requested the assistance of the nurse manager of that floor. She attempted to find out what is going on. She tried to tell us that there was many emergencies. That makes no sense as emergency echo can be performed by physicians at the bedside and as a PA my sister has never seen this occur at Danbury hospital or Bridgeport . There may be a line for the CT machine lasting several hours but never days. I was forced to stay another night with the promise that they would call in the morning and try to get me in. What kind of a hospital would keep someone that long to perform a 30 minute test 2 days all the time not having a plan or information for the patient. I was not able to speak with the hospitalist either even after requesting this. I was told to not be stressed so that my chances of healing are better but being placed in this hospital hurt me. I feel terrible and so does my family. I have not been able to reach an advocate and do not know who to inform so that either people stay away from this place or they change how they treat people. I am certain all the people including the nurses and doctors would never have allowed this to happen to themselves of loved ones but it is ok for everyone else.

Hartford Hospital my complaint is regarding a doctor

My husband's right hand was injured in work June 27, 2017. He was transported to Hartford Hospital and subsequently was seen by Dr. Bass.
Unfortunately, my husband had to have two surgeries done by Dr. Bass.
During one of our post op visits the workman's comp. manager requested the medical record. Dr Bass was not happy with this request and said he didn't think it was necessary. He finally gave in and charged us $20 for the records which the WC never received. My husband and I nagged the secretary and the Doctor for this information endlessly but it was never sent. Weeks later the insurance company and the WC requested records again...another $20 was paid. This time only a few pages of my husband's records were sent. Dr. Bass has been doing this a long time, I know, I was an RN on the trauma unit back in the 90's and knew him from there, he knew exactly what the WC and insurance co. wanted.
Now, over a year later the insurance company wants to settle my husband's case and close it out (no we did not sue) it was for disability purposes. The insurance co again requested records from Dr. Bass volunteering to pay for them and again Dr. bass ignored the request. Four times the request was made and ignored. This is pretty unprofessional. I have worked with many many doctors throughout the state and have NEVER seen this behavior.
I don't want to take this any further, but if I have to I will go to the news stations to get my point across and some action started. I am not threatening, I am just stating a fact, that this is the only way I feel I can get anything done, if it isn't done through this letter.
Thank you for your immediate action in this matter. we need the records by Jan. 2, 2019. The doctor was sent the release form and the address is on it (Dr. Michael Arco)
Sincerely, Meda M Talley
James Talley

Hartford Hospital hospital stay

I went to Hartford Hospital ER on 3/9/2017 on indications of stroke. Dr. Fred Tilden reviewed the CAT scan results and discharged me on 3/10/2017 12:32 am. Later in the day, the ER called me to return to the hospital for MRI test. I was admitted to the hospital on 3/10/2017 (Friday). I waited whole day there was no MRI service. The staff told me normally, there was no MRI service on the weekend. I requested to go home first and return Monday for the MRI test. I did not receive any response from the hospital staff. I was charged $780, 00 for the unnecessary hospital stay.

By far this is the worst experience by far, the lack of treatment and communication in disgusted this is called a hospital never mind emergency department. Complete Disgrace and janethia the chage nurse and so called PCA did nothing by try to justify rather than treat. No wonder cuts are being made why should the government fund lackadaisical unprofessionalism, obviously what's they have is taken for granted as is.

Hartford Hospital Poor quality care

WARNING! Dr. Peter Beller – Dr. Christopher Morosky at Hartford Hospital
Post Date: October 8th, 2011

I went to these 2 Docs, @ the OBGYN at the Hartford Hospital (Hartford CT) women’s clinic to get a much needed hysterectomy. It went wrong, very wrong.

3 days after discharge I came down with a raging strep infection (103 fever). I called the hospital where I had the surgery and the operator didn’t know the doctor?!

I then went to and was admitted to The Hospital of Central CT. I was on assorted antibiotics (IV) for a week straight. If I was not dying by the time I got there, I was sure wishing I was after the first week. Vancomycin, one of the drugs they used, kept collapsing my veins. By the end of the 1st week, both of my arms looked like pin cushions. But, lets not forget the pain involved. The nurses kept “flushing the line”, after every dose. Painful doesn’t begin to describe it.

And dirty! With a fever so high I couldn’t see straight. No offer to help with any hygiene. I was pretty ripe by the end of week one.

During week one Dr. Morosky and an associate did a second surgery because the drugs didn’t break my fever. When my temp went to 99.8( at the end of week 1) the hospital decided I should go home.

Unfortunately, when the VNA visited me, day 1 after week 1, they had a different idea. My temp had gone back to 103 and I had to do another week in the hospital. It was basically a repeat of the first week w/o the surgery. Dr. Morosky tried to suggest that the 24 hours I was at home had everything to do with the return of the fever. and gold coins fall from the sky regularly.

By the end of week 2, I was told I was “too healthy for the hospital” and “not healthy enough” to go home. With only the clothes on my back I did a week at a rest home that had all the charm of a stove pipe in satans kitchen.

When I had my followup with Dr. Morosky, (after the week in the rest home)he looked at my wound and frowned. At this point I had been with him long enough to know that frown was bad news. He had a Dr. Sing come and look at me. I was told not to get off the table and the two went into the hall to talk. When they came back in, I was told to get up, carefully, go home and pack a bag.

While home packing, Dr. Morosky called me . He told me he would admit me in Hartford.I was told the Hospital for Central CT worked with Hartford Hospital and they routinely sent more complicated cases to Hartford. Since I had been saying all along that I didn’t want Dr. Beller as a doctor, I thought my wishes would be respected.

No such luck.

I spent 4 days @ Hartford Hospital, for a cat scan. I had a number of docs examine the wound and finally I was told to go home and let it heal. I am no doctor, but I had my doubts that it would heal. One Dr. felt the same as I did, he stated it would not heal, and he recommended that the hernia get repaired, and the wound cleaned and re-closed. The others talked him out of it.

A month and a half of going to Dr. Bellers office. A month and a half of the VNA coming to the house and calling Beller and telling him it’s getting bigger, and all he could say was “I don’t handle this type of wound”.

Then he brought a surgeon in to look at it.(6 weeks later) This was after the hysterectomy wound was had been pushed open wider because of the hernia. The surgeon said he could fix the 23 cm hernia in one month. I went with him over the doctor of choice.

I went for surgery during the later part of July. He couldn’t fix it. He now says it’s going to be a year since the first surgery (4/11) when he could fix it. Maybe

I go to a wound care center 3X a week the hernia is hanging out 18 cm. I am in pain now all the time. The most interesting question I get all day is “did I have a bowel movement”?

I am with a surgeon, who seems to be the only game in town. I have talked to 4 different docs and they all say the same” No doc worth their salt would touch that wound-it’s too big and bad”. I can’t walk into Hartford Hospital without crying. The anxiety I feel when I go to the surgeons office is unbelievable. I can’t bring myself to much look at the wound, which they tell me is between 15 and 20 cm open.Where they tried to sew skin over the wound, the seam partially broke.

Throughout all of this I have tried real hard to talk myself into believing that “this was an unfortunate complication to this type of surgery”. Then I read my file from Hartford.

Mistake #1: The file stated “I swabbed positive for MRSA”. Really? and yet Hartford Hospital operated one week later without addressing this? When asked I was told “oops, typo”

Mistake #2: I had Group B strep prior to surgery? Really? Group B strep is NOT suppose to be present when women have children or have OBGYN Surgery, as was my case.No treatment was given for this. When Hartford Hospital was confronted about this, there was no reply.

Mistake #3: The notes Dr. Morosky dictated stated that it was common knowledge that this wound would not heal. No one told me. No one gave me a clue of what was to come. When I asked why the hernia was not repaired when it was smaller, no one could answer.

Reading the file, I am convinced that this isn’t a case of post op crap happens. This is pre op you knew about it. I am left to wonder how this would have turned out if the infection had been addressed prior to the surgery.

Oh, and before I forget, Hartford Hospital contacted me to tell me that they wanted to have a meeting (Dr. Roach). I told him no, that I wanted to talk to a lawyer first. Then I got a call from Dr. Morosky. The conversation turned to what I wanted.

I told him $$ is not important to me. As weird as that sounds it’s the truth. I told him I would love it if the supportive services could continue until the surgeon states “the wound is as good as it will get” No further surgeries will make it better. Again, and I said it. Hartford Hospital taking care of that need will happen after the sky rains gold coins.

Then the 2 doctors who head the obgyn department call me, and they want to “talk to me about the conversation” I had with Dr. Morosky. That was a week ago.

I have since contacted a lawyer who is willing to review the case, and he has stated he would love it if these guys called him and would tell him the details surrounding this meeting. So far the phone has been silent.

In the mean time I sit at home and watch the life I enjoyed sail by. I had basically no summer and now no fall. I love mountain biking, and horse back riding.Swimming is good too. I love going to fairs, and the Pet expo, and dancing the time warp, when Rocky Horror comes to town.

I got yelled at for going to the movies. The VNA almost cried when she heard I was taking the laundry down stairs. We won’t even discuss the words that came in my direction when I told people I went to the market to shop for food. I have no one to do this for me, and these chores do need to be done.

I can’t go to work in this condition. I have mixed emotions about being on public support. I am embarrassed that I have to rely 100% on them, and yet relieved that I am not living in a box behind Walmart.

I would love to know what the public opinion is about what I have described. As of the writing of this, Hartford Hospital has given me the impression they wish I would go away. I have a belly wound that says I will be around for at least another year.

On April 4, my sister and I were called by the police dept and informed that my mother had been out int he 37 degree weather for 90 minutes trying to get into people's cars looking for "Pierce Brosnan." She subsequently went to her PCP. My sister and I accompanied her and the doctor said she was not safe at home and sent her to the hospital.

At this point, my mother was deemed incompotent. The plan was to go to probate court for conservatorship. We got a date for May 3rd. The plan was for her to stay in the observation wing of the ED until that date. We rarely received updates and often heard different things from different doctors. On April 26, I received a phone call stating that my mother was now found to be "compotent" and could be discharged home with nursing services. My sister and I tried to appeal this discharge. We spoke with the social worker, case coordinatory, and PA who all said she was compotent and safe to go home. We informed them that my mother did not have a phone (she lost it) and no way of contacting anyone. They sent the visiting nurse with a phone days after discharge after I had already purchased her a simple flip phone. My mother couldn't even remember to take it off the charger and keep it on her. She had no food so they sent her with a bag of food. My sister and I said we did not agree with this discharge so we would not be picking her up. We asked to speak to psychiatry before she was discharged. They discharged her home and we never heard from anyone. Her apartment complex actually doesn't want her back due to the problems and complaints from neighbors.

The response to the previous complaint was inaccurate and very unhelpful. We were upset with the communication. Also, the letter kept saying that the "documentation" said that she was treated appropriately and discharged safely. Documentation is not always fact. And in this case, there were inaccuracies. My "compotent" mother said she never asked to go home and they made her. She is now in a locked facility after being discharged from HH 3 days prior. I want this looked into by an MD or talk to the physician who discharged her. I have also contact the attorney general and the DPH with this issue.

Well, its been a year since Dr. Beller and Morosky distroyed my life. There are good and bad to report. The good news is, I managed to escape Hartford and found a gem of a surgeon who is now my doctor and has assured me he will see me through this until the end. THis is the guy you dream of for a doctor. He is smart, makes sense, and has me convinced he will get the job done, correctly. In my wildest dreams I could not have gotten a better doctor.
The bad news is Hartford hospital will be taking away my home health aid in 30 days, leaving me with nothing. I tire easily, can’t lift, and will have no assistance with basic necessary needs.
When I walked away, I would say a couple of months ago, it was with the understanding that I would have a home health aid until the crisis had past. The time line was: 1 year, so I could get ready for the surgery, the surgery, and the recovery. This was suppose to be the time where I would get the surgery.
It’s not happening. I am too fat for the operating table. The doc is right about this. I have to lose 100 pounds. It would have been nice if Hartford had talked to me about this, but they didn’t. In fact I was told it was ok to weigh what I did (330 at the time). No mention of the fact that this type of hernia has a sky high rate of reaccurance. The good doc is requesting bariacric surgery. I still have nightmares about the hysterectomy. The contact at Hartford is stating “she will not pay for surgery”, (I never asked her to) that I am asking too much(I offered them a physical, by the doc of their choise- she got upset when I told her that I could not pay the amount due for the volume of records they wanted), and I have one more month before they cut the services. (This story will not be through for another year and a half).

Thanks to Dr. Beller and Doctor Morosky, I will probably spend the rest of my life needing a broad range of services. I have a long list of what I can’t do(what I use to do), and a hospital that even though they screwed me up physically, will do anything to write me as the bad guy. The medical blacklisting is another story.

By the way, Hartford Hospital wishes me well.
