Rotten pears
I received a surprise belated birthday gift from Harry & David at
5291 Westview LN, Lisle, IL 60532
on 5/27/22 the 6 pears were all rotten & either brown or turning brown. I have several numbers on the box. There was just a message Happy Belated Birthday so I don't know who sent it. i received it today, early afternoon.
Desired outcome: Replace rotten pears,some one paid for them.
Shipping issues FEDX
Bought assortment of chocolate basket from Harry and David for Mother’s Day. They advertise FEDX EXPRESS shipping. Left Oregon to Ohio to Ocala Florida which is 30 minutes from my parents house, but no FEDX reroutes our package to Orlando Florida 2 hours from my parents house, THEN sends the package back to Ocala Florida for delivery. This is why our package was delayed 24 hours, and this is EXPRESS shipping. See picture of chocolate after express shipping. Harry and David email response was SORRY let us know if theirs anything else we can help you with!
Online ordering and "Chat" feature
I placed an order on 4-26-22 at 2:12 PM. It is now 3:37 PM and I just got off the phone with an agent (Nigel). He was the THIRD agent I dealt with. Firstly, your online promo codes have a glitch. Even if an item says it is a "Buy One Get One 50% off," apparently if you are buying other items that are on sale, the promo code for the BOGO50 item will not work. If the first agent had told me to place the orders separately, I would have complied, but it was never explained WHY the promo code would not work -- and I did ask. Secondly, the "Chat" feature is very BAD. Apparently, the agents are located in the Philippines and obviously there is a language disconnect, as well as the fact that the agent must be fielding several "chats" at one time because it was obvious that my agent was not there most of the time. It took way too long. On top of that, the second agent did not apply the BOGO50 code as he had indicated that he did, so it forced me to call a live agent who, hopefully, has resolved the problem.
Desired outcome: Fix the problems with the glitches on your online ordering website. Hire people who will do a better job.
Dishonest and waste of time
Harry & David have been a complete waste of my time.
I wanted to share this to prevent them from wasting your time.
I placed an order on Jan 8, 2022, for a Valentine's Day wreath and received an email confirming I would receive my order by Jan 20, 2022.
On Jan 18, 2022, I received an email stating the wreath was no longer available and that I needed to call in order to choose a different item.
Note: on Jan 18, I checked their website and the wreath was still available for sale
Once they figured it out (10days later) why didn't they simply refund my money? instead of wasting my time and forcing me to call in order to "choose a different item"?
Since they left me no choice but to call, I called them on Jan 18th and was told that the email I received was incorrect and that the item was not sold out and would arrive by Feb 2nd.
I was confused by this and explained the email I had received, but the representative confirmed again that there were NO issues with inventory and that my order would arrive by Feb 2, 2022
On Jan 26, I received an email stating that they are "unable to process my order because they needed additional information" and that I needed to call or they would cancel my order.
I called and was told my order was sold out and I needed to choose a different item Why waste my time like this?
BTW, this item still shows that it is available on their website as of today Jan 26 The item is the Elegant Heart Wreath.
I am sorry to say, but this company is incompetent and I will not be doing business with them again."
Desired outcome: Apology from upper management
I purchased a light fruit of the month club (9 months). It started in April 2022. Here is what I would like you to know about your fruit and deliveries:
April - pineapple was good
May – strawberries were good
Jun - mango was okay
Jul – cherries arrived hot and tasted awful
Aug – peaches never made it to me, customer service said because of hot cherries and no peaches will add two more months on to my order and will send out the September plums right away
Sept – Wednesday evening (yesterday), peaches arrived hot and moldy!
I am a celebrations passport holder and have been dealing with this family of stores for about seven or so years and only challenges I had was with deliveries not getting there on time, however, they have always rectified the problems. This morning I am so disgusted and disappointed with Harry and David! First, why do you ship fruit NOT in a refrigerated box? Customer service gave me the FedEx tracking number for the plums and I checked that on Tuesday where it arrived in Georgia, whereas, I was expecting them yesterday, Wednesday, September 7. Instead, I received the hot moldy peaches. The plums are still sitting in the Georgia facility in a warm box no doubt.
I think I would like to cancel the rest of this club and refund me my money. I started in April and my family, and I only could enjoy three months of good fruit. The cherries were not good the peaches are moldy, and I am sure because of the heat the plums are not good. Please refund me $124.32. Here is how I arrived at that:

Less ( 50.00) if you spend $199 or more
Less 85.67) 3 months of fruit (able to eat)
$124.32
Please deduct for taxes.

Receipt of birthday gift basket from my daughter in nc
Don't know how to say this, but I just received a gift basket from my daughter and her husband for my 80th birthday, it came in a basket with four pears on the bottom, then on top were party mix, moose munch, lemon short bread cookies, peanut butter pretzels, red licorice, 4 separate cookies, bag of assorted jellybeans. Every item was stale, hard and tasteless with the exception of the licorice (didn't try) and the pears are not ripe yet (no problem there.? We have bought and received from Harry & Davids before and not a single problem. I don't want to tell my daughter and cause her embarrassment, however it would be acceptable for Harry & David to send a FRESH Replacement. Shipping Charges--Outrageous
Ordered from them many times/years...This order ([protected]) didn't give me a date selection for delivery, but charged $19.99, then showed over a week later (9 days) deliver date...One would assume for a small box of chocolates, that would be fedex 2nd day (or overnight). Need it for 2/1 (97th b'day gift), called and they charged ANOTHER 9.99...so almost 30 bucks for a small box, 4 days shipping.
I order ME live lobsters overnight, cheaper than this. Sadly, although they have always had good product, I won't be ordering anymore from them.

Bait and Switch
Just placed an order of items with big "BOGO 50%" banner on them. Many items had this banner. At checkout I entered the given promo code only to get the message "promo code has expired". I started a "chat" with an agent who kept me holding for more than 30 minutes. When they came back they said the code was expired. I went back into the sight to get screenshots of the promo banners and they had all miraculously changed to "up to 20% off" banners. I told the "agent" to cancel another order I had placed just prior to trying to order the BOGO items and they said the could not do that because the order had "already been processed" and I should "chat them back" after 24 hours to see what they could do. I'm not sure where they are but they chat like Indians I have worked with in the past. Very unethical company!
Desired outcome: Want my order cancelled and my money returned!
Overcharging
I just placed 3 orders over the phone.
The gal in Jamaica who took the order stated she gave me BOGO50, 50% off second item. Instead about 1/2 was taken off shipping and "additional item charges" of ~ $9 were added back in. The total should be ~ 135. + shipping. Instead it's 160.92
The second order, which was with a free shipping code, has an additional 2.99 added as additional item charge. The gal in Jamaica said it was tax. We don't have tax on food.
My final order, with a 15% savings, should have had $27 deducted from the bill. Instead, the coupon only deducted $18.00, yet added an "additional item charge" of $11.96.
Something is very wrong with these totals. If Harry and David looks up order # [protected], they can find all three of my orders today. I would have preferred to mail them directly, and cannot find an email address. The only phone number I find went to Jamaica.
Desired outcome: Refund of overcharge
When do you start resolving things? It's been 6 days and nothing has changed.
Customer service
I have ordered from Harry and David in the past and Someone called trying to encourage me to place an order for Christmas. I am female with a feminine first name which is the name the past orders would have been placed under. The person calling asked for Mr. ***. When I said there was no Mr.*** his response was "Oh I am sorry". Why would the sales person ask for Mr.*** since a mistered had never placed an order on my account. It sounds to me as if Harry and David needs to do some training regarding proper gender sensitivity and awareness that Mr. does always place the order.
Get too many mailings
I am listed with too many accounts so I get too many mailing having a street address and a PO Box: PO Box is customer # 11311 this is great. customer 16499 is not. And then there are the blind mailings in addition that come to street address. Also I recently changed email address so when I ordered from Popcorn Factory had to use old address for email to get free shipping which I just purchased last month: OLD= alan.davitian#att.net, NEW=[protected]@gmail.com. Having been given a phone number to call for fixing this [protected]) after being dropped 3 times on the 4th try someone said I need to go to Flowere.com to fix it. So, I did that and it seems there is no way for me to actually contact someone to fix these things, but if you are placing an order you get very good service. This is what is going on now, just think of how bad it will be during the holidays.

Food tower
After being inundated with Mother's Day commercials, I decided to let you know how disappointed I was with the tower gift I received. Nasty lentil chips, cheap peppermint puffs, etc. The only palatable item were chocolate pretzels. I am sorry someone wasted valuable money on this! After reviewing your website now, I see you don't offer this any more. Smart move!
Customer service/product switch complaint
I placed an order on december 8th, for 3 baskets to different members of my family!
First off, when I placed my order for my family members, the items I choose was not out of stock, and was set to a delivery date on or before december 17th.
Someone dropped the ball here! My order w01005723148620 was not processed until I contacted harry and david on 12/21 to ask why it hadn't been delivered yet!
Now my order is being substituted with something I would have never chosen for a member of my family I should have been contacted on what to substitute! But I wasn't and I am sure that is because they didn't process my order the date I ordered it! Not getting what I ordered is wrong! And it has still not been delivered!
I can see from the fedex tracking that it just went out the day I called! Which proves that they did not process my order on december 8th, which they caused the out of stock issue because when I ordered it was in stock, therefore replacing my order with something no one orders because it is not a desirable replacement, yet still charging me for the better item price!
All I was offered from customer service was a sorry, we will take off the delivery charge. Seriously? Do you think totally screwing up my order is ok, and removing the delivery charge and giving me one of your worst baskets to my family member is a good to go? It's not. What was done was bad service, rude, wrong and unacceptable.
Desired outcome: Complete refund!
Stale fruits
Ermmm... Is this appropriate?
I ordered a fruit basket and it took them five days to deliver it. Just think: Five. Days. Fruits.
Moreover, the basket was just dropped in front of the door, the driver just went way without knocking or ringing.
Of course, the fruits were stale, they delivered too late, that's why I will never order from them again and will never recommend anyone doing it.
SAME, IDENTICAL experience. They used to be great - renowned for their pears. Now it's like everything else...expensive garbage.
Web sales
I placed order number w008252194891xx on december 13, 2016 with the understanding that the order would be delivered “on or before christmas”. Tracking my order december 20 revealed that the order (3 shipments) were slated to be delivered “on or before december 30, 2016.”
I called this company on december 21 and spoke with one of their customer service people. This person told me that part of the order had been cancelled! To add insult to injury, the customer service rep agreed to repair the cancelled shipment for an additional charge of $11. This to repair what this company caused in the first place.
This is my first order experience with harry and david. It will be my last.
Now I have 4 days to replace the missing gifts. Good luck with that.
Such a breach of trust. Don't trust harry and david. They clearly care little about their performance or reputation.
Terrible service
Harry and David is gift giving synonymous with sending a rotting firosh to someone. Our company used them until our clients started asking that we NOT send from H&D. We sent my wifes grandmother a fruit of the month gift and she received rotted fruit every time. I personally have received several of the rotted fruit baskets and vending machine confections. I find better fruit in the discount section of ther grocery store. It's absolutely flabberghasting they are still in business Have you ever noticed that the only good reviews of Harry and David are from sites linked to Harry&David.com.
This is a company that consistantly sends insults paid with good intentions.

did you know you can change an order with the one purchasing the order never notified?
I purchased a 6 month fruit of the month club gift for my dad, My crack addict brother went there and called H&D and had the ship to order changed to his home! I called H&D customer service and I was the one being questioned and accused of doing something wrong. I canceled the order and H&D would never admit it but if you know someone is getting a fruit of the month gift call h&d with the box information and request the ship to address be changed. Do it on your own order just to prove it can be done. So in short your order is not safe and will be met by nasty customer service people. I will never use h&d again
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
No Christmas message sent on my orders so I sent 8 boxes of cookies with out a message Customer service was largely unhelpful I will not be sending Harry and David out in the future

Worst gift ever
A fraudulent charge was made to my bank account for shipping an order when I have a annual passport. I have been waiting over 2 hours with a chat customer service person who still has not returned to refund these funds.
This is not acceptable.
This was part of a very expensive gift box I ordered for my husband. We just opened these nuts and as you’ll see in the picture, nothing like the label. It’s all cashews and almonds. Only like 5-6 walnuts and NO pecans. Are you serious? This isn’t a premium select, I could get this at Walmart.
