Harley Davidson bad service

I would like to formally complain about your customer service representative at [protected] named Cindy who wouldnt give me her last name. On 11/12/08 in the late morning I called up because I had a complaint about Oakdale, NY Harley Davidson. She was very rude, argumentative, and the worst representative I have ever dealt with in over 40 years on this earth and 23 years in the United States Military.

I own a 2006 Harley Davidson Street Bob Dyna. I was told the troubles I was experiencing with the False Neutral Light coming on and the engine or gears down shifting dangerously losing power was a recalled issue by Harley Davidson. I was driving it recently and the False Neutral Light came on and the engine went into neutral and refused to drive and I looked down and the 5 bolts that go into the rear tire sprocket were completely sheared off and the belt off as well. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED AT HIGH SPEEDS HARLEY DAVIDSON WOULD DEFINITELY BE SUED AND BROUGHT UP ON CHARGES! I had to get my cycle towed via Progressive Insurance.

I called up Oakdale NY Harley and spoke to Justin who stated he could not give me a tentative approval to have my cycle covered by warranty! He denied my request. I explained I was in there last year 11/12/07 and had called numerous times and everyone claimed my cycle wasnt a recalled Vin number WHICH IS LUDICROUS! They claimed to test driven it and it didn't occur! NO ###! This is an intermittent problem and they should have replaced the parts which are on the Harley recall list to play it safe! Justin should have been courteous to arrange for this but claimed he could not! Obviously they aren't safe or bright individuals! I am sure someone DROPPED the ball and failed to enter my Vin number and many others into the computer. They had claimed mine missed by a few months which is BS! At the time I had spoken to Jim and Steve in the past and Justin verified this in his computer system. I had around 9, 000 plus miles on it then and now a year later only have 11, 000 plus. THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON THE SAME PROBLEM I HAD THEN GOT WORSE NOW AND RESULTED IN 5 BOLTS COMING OFF AND ME NEARLY DYING! I refuse to bring it there seeing they will probably rip me off and charge me a massive amount of money unless I have prior authorization or someone come and see it where it sits? Unless I can receive some reassurance unlike I have received in the past with Harley and its poor representatives I am not towing it or bringing it there anymore! On my 2005 Sportster they failed to tell me about a air filter replacement of which I had to hear from a third party and insisted they change and after much arguments they finally changed it! Very poor service at Oakdale NY Harley!

When I called and spoke to a very rude and unprofessional Cindy she denied this was the case and became very defensive and rudely arrogant claiming I dont know what I am talking about. This was why I advised her she didnt know what she was talking about, then she decided to say I was being rude to her after she clearly initiated the rude and poor customer service towards me a good paying customer and military veteran who has been protecting her sorry self for 23 years!

I then requested to speak to her Supervisor and she refused again wrongfully and violated my rights and privileges as a citizen and good paying Harley customer and owner of over 4 Harleys as well as 23 year Combat Military Veteran! I have always promoted Harley Davidson and all I get is LIES, MISLEADING INFORMATION, and NONSENSE from all of its derelict representatives! She denied me nearly dying and crashing on my Harley was true etc. What a disgrace she is to put it lightly!

Nevertheless, my cycle is not running with damaged internal parts perhaps, rear sprocket, hub etc.. I am requesting an INTELLIGENT Harley representative contact me without any delays and explain to me what professional corrective action will be taken to fix and repair this matter without any delays. If you fail to properly handle my complaint, I will be forced to contact every complaint agency on earth and take Harley Davidson Inc. to small claims court to compensate me for all repairs I have to make!

Please forward this complaint to your Corporate officers and respond to me via my cell phone immediately xxx xxx xxxx on what action Harley will take to repair all these screw ups and rude personnel!?

On May 5 2009 I traded my 2001 Road King in on a new show room 2009 Street Glide.
Since I had just turned 56 and was celebrating my 43ed year of riding motorcycles. I decided to do it up right and get what I wanted. And figuring that this was going to be my last Harley before I retire I went hog wild and had the stage 4 kit put in by the dealer so that it would be under dealer warranty.
What a mistake that was. Since May 5 the bike has been in the shop every week except the first week.
That is to say that from May 5 to today June 25 I have had the bike at my home and rode it for a week.
The bike I was told has a glitch with the security system that won’t allow it to start near walls, and or metal buildings, or electrical systems.
I was never told by the sales person that this was a common problem with some of the newer bikes.
The Irony is that the owners manual also stats this.
I can not believe that Willy and the boys at Harley allowed some dumb engineer design such a piece of crap. Have they forgotten that the world is surrounded by cars, trucks, metal buildings and that over 90 % of the cars, trucks and even buildings have electrical gadgets on them.
To design this and allow to go out to the public is so wrong.
So now my bike is back in the shop again which means that this month I was able to keep it at home and ride it for a week..
The Legacy tech now tells me that Harley told him that the problem is in a electrical harness that is back ordered.
I have owned several Harleys in the last 12 years and this is the first time I have had so much trouble with a bike and or a Harley Shop.
Had the sales person told me about having to push the bike around to find a sweet spot to start it up
I would have kept my Road King.
Last week I took the day off from work to see what was going on and they actually found some communication error codes.
The Tech messed around with an electrical connector. And I was able to ride the bike home so that it would not start again.
I am starting to think Lemon Law.
What has happened to American Engineering and customer service ?

I have been having the same problem with my nuetral light and no one even metioned the recall (which I hadn't heard about) then On Saterday going 55 MPH I heard POP POP and the back wheel locked up, I just barely saved my self from going down and the friend riding behind me just about got decapitated with flying metal (Thank GOD she was wearing a helmet!).

I called HD today and received the same rude treatment and wasn't ALLOWED to speak to anone in management even though I requested to 3 times!

My bike has 3900 miles on it! I've taken it in regularly for service (I've also asked about the nuetral light and was told it was a loose fuse?) The wheel has never been off and all the parts are stock.

I also have a 2006 streetbob with 15000 miles..I was riding sunday and I heard a noise and the belt went free. I pulled over and was suprised to see my belt and the bolts on my sprocket were shered off . I have had only harley do all service . my sprocket was never removed. The dealership is trying to get auth. to fix.. I do have to say I spoke to a rep at the same number and she was pleasant understanding and informative..It wasnt the same one.

Harley Davidson bad customer service

I purchased a new, 2008, Harley Davidson Heritage Softail in 2-2008. I loved the bike and it ran great for about 4 mos. After that, I began to experience difficulties starting when it was hot. The bike is in the shop at Thunderbird Harley Davidson, in Albuq. NM, for the 3rd time with the same issue. It's been there 2 weeks now and they still do not know what is wrong.

I called Harleys customer service number on Sept. 26 and was told someone would get back with me. Didn't happen. In talking with the woman, I told her I would like my bike fixed or replaced. She informed me someone would be in touch and Harley doesn't have a "buy back program" and no one contacted me.

Sept.29 I sent a registered letter with my complaint and heard nothing.

I was told by the dealer, on Sept. 22, that a part had been ordered, but they didn't believe it would solve the problem. The part came in Oct.2 and I was informed it was the wrong one, so they would have to reorder.

I contacted Harley Davidson customer service again, today, Oct 3, and was told they would look into it and call me right back. That was 4 1/2 hours ago, it's 5:35pm my time, and still nothing.

I have an extended warranty on the bike that pays up to $75 a day for a rental but rentals are $170 a day. No one has even offered to work anything out with me on that. I don't even have 5, 000 miles on this bike yet. It's just sorry, you'll just have to wait.

I paid close to $20, 000 for this motorcycle and NOBODY cares. Buyer beware. Guess they haven't heard of Lemon Laws.

Harley Davidson - bad quality

I purchased a new Harley Davidson street bob in late July. When I pulled out of the dealership the front wheel had a bad wobble to it so bad I just about lost. I returned to the dealership(Harley Davidson Of Dallas) and they replaced the front rim. This problem was never logged on there system. On October 8th 2008 I was riding this motorcycle to work and...

Harley Davidson service or lack thereof

I went to the Harley Davidson store in Jackson Hole, Wy on vacation on Oct 8, 2008 about 5:30pm and was going to purchase my brother a birthday present, but the 2 young women that were "suppose" to be "working" that day were too busy talking to each other about some guy that had been in the store to wait on me. Neither one of them spoke to me or my friend when we walked in and I had to wait to ask them a question until they were finished talking.
I picked up several things to ask for a price and all they would say was maybe $9.95 or something etc. Nothing was marked with a price, so I asked if they could pull up my brother's wish list and they both looked at me as if I were from another planet. At this point we left and bought NOTHING. All my brother wanted was a shirt, but I wanted go get him and my sister in laws Christmas present from there also, but since I was a bother to the young women that day, I left.
I just hope that my brother gets better service if he has problems with his motorcycle.
Thank you for your time and sorry it has taken me so long to email you, but I do not use my computer at home very muck.

Harley Davidson - warranty

While traveling on my Harley Davidson my battery quit working, I went to the closest Harley Davidson dealer and purchased a new battery. Six months later this new battery developed a short and could not be recharged so I took it to my local (about 30 miles away) Harley Davidson dealer only to be told that the warranty was only good if returned to the dealer...

Harley Davidson very uncomfortable ride

I too purchased a 2008 Heritage and found the side stand way too forward and I'm 6'2'' and still cannot reach the side stand, the least Harley could do is offer an extension for the side stand, I called and they told me they do not offer one at this time, and could not or would not tell me when they would have one available...as far as the heat goes, I thought my right leg was on fire, the heat is so intense, it makes for a very uncomfortable ride.

Especially if you’re on a long ride 200 miles plus, you would think Harley would do better when designing these new bikes, don't they check things out before they put them on the market?

What are the engineers doing, I think I will look at the other American made Motorcycle (Victory) next time around.

Harley Davidson harassment

Each month HD Financial calls me the day after my payment is due. The payment was due Sunday, I said what about a few days grace. I said I would pay Friday. Then they call everyday anyway. They even keep calling after I make the payment because it takes them 3 days to post the payment when I pay online. This is harassment. It's not like I am paying late. This month I paid 3 days before it was due and they called again...said it wasn't posted yet but they could see the payment was made. Finance through someone else. This is ridiculous.

I have had to replace the lower trunk latch assembly on my 2012 Triglide now 4 times. The sleeve for the assembly is made of hard plastic and apparently does not have a very long life span. You would think that by now Harley would've figured out that plastic is not the choice. I can not believe I am the only person with this problem. Open your eyes HD and get a metal sleeve. Damn I am frustrated.

Here is a letter I am sending consumer affairs, [redacted] and BBB, , , , , , , I was in the wrong for paying late but they have swindled money out of me. Terrible business practices.

I am writing this so that maybe it will help others in the future. I purchased a motorcycle from Harley Davidson in Myrtle Beach and I also purchased all the packages they had to offer. The total price was somewhere around $22, 000.00 to $23, 000.00. I had it paid down to $7, 300. Due to the economy I have lost a lot of business and have fallen on hard times. I was behind on my payments and had several conversations with Harley Finance about one of the dealerships taking my bike and selling it for me. I also talked to several dealerships and asked if they would help me sell my bike. Neither the finance company nor a dealership would help me at all.
One afternoon a tow truck shows up to reposes my bike. The tow truck was a basic tow truck. I asked the driver if he was sure he wanted to pick it up with that tow truck. He says it will be fine. So I raised the garage door and crank the bike and rode it close to his truck. He asked me if I would help him. I told him that I didn’t really want to help but I did anyway. After he started putting straps on the bike, I told my wife that I was going in the house, I didn’t want to see it fall and as I was walking away it fell. Just so folks understand we are not writing this so somebody will give us a free ride, it’s so people will understand that this organization conducts bad business. My wife and my son took several pictures of the way he was strapping the bike down and the way it was being towed.
I called the repo division and asked what their procedure was and they explained to me what they would do. I then asked would they like for me to mail them the keys and the lady I was dealing with told me if I was going to get the bike back, just to keep the keys. Around maybe a week later I called and let them know that I wasn’t going to be able to get the bike back to go ahead and do what they needed to do. I told her that the bike was being kept at the guy house that was driving the tow truck and it was sitting out in the weather. It sat there until it went to an auction place in Atlanta Georgia. I called on 9-18-12 and asked had they auctioned the bike yet and the lady told me it had not been auctioned yet and they had to put a new battery in it, clean old fuel out of it but they were in hopes that a dealership would buy the bike back. I had just replaced the battery 2 or 3 months prior at Advanced Auto and it was still under warranty. I also told her that I had ridden the bike from my garage to the tow truck and it was fine and the tow truck driver could vouch for that.
As I stated earlier in this letter the motorcycle had a good battery. It was the best one for a motorcycle that Advanced Auto sold. It was also still under warranty. They told me that they were charging me 7 days storage and my motorcycle sat in the yard of the guy that picked the bike up out in the weather. I have pictures to prove this. When you call Harley Finance, there is a recording that states, “This call may be monitored for training purposes, ” so the fact that I told them I would send them the key should be on there and any other conversation that I had with the repo company concerning my bike.
I did not have the means to pay for this bike but how does it help me or any other consumer when they will come and take a bike from my possession and store it somewhere and then charge me for storage money I don’t have? They replaced the battery, or so they said they did. The battery is stamped on the date and if it is not any good then Advanced Auto would have replaced it. I spoke with Harmony on 9-21-12 to find out if the bike had sold at auction and she told me that it didn’t go up for auction because the fuel pump wasn’t working. I expressed to her that it was working when it left my house because the bike was in my garage and I cranked it and rode it from my garage to where the tow truck was sitting. I expressed to her the tow truck driver could verify that it was running and if he stated anything other than that he would be lying. She told me it didn’t matter that anything done or repairs that had to be made would come out of the sale of the bike. I expressed to her that the cost happened after the bike left me should be a cost added to me. And as I have stated throughout this letter, the bike has 748 original miles and the fuel pump should be under warranty as well. Any statements that I have made, I will gladly take a polygraph test. I don’t understand why they continue to put the auction off and in my earlier statement just a few days after they picked the bike up, I called them and told them I would not be able to get the bike back. My 1st phone call to Harley, I told them I would send the keys back to them and the lady that I spoke with said if you are going to get the bike back to just keep the keys.
I just called Harley to get the status of the bike. I have just been informed that the bike has been sold at auction and after they deducted all the fee’s and repairs, I am supposed to get $1000 back. I asked if they would send me an itemized statement showing me exactly what all the deductions were and her comment was, “No, we don’t have too.” I have yet to receive anything in writing from them much less the $1000.00.

OMG, my payment was three days late and they called me at WORK! It was embarrassing and so rude! I then told the girl that I had to check my filing at home (because I thought they were calling regarding the last month -- didn't think they would be calling me after only three days!) and she told me that I should just pay now to stop the phone calls to my office. They are bully's. No wonder why I always read that they are not doing to well! Next time I will obtain my financing from our personal bank. They do not deserve good business.

Recently my neighbors told me that they were contacted by Harley Davidson because they were looking for me. When I contacted Harley they told me that I was 50 days past due on my payment. They told me that my last payment was made in May but that I owed $80 in late fees. They got my neighbor's numbers out of the white pages and contacted them regarding my where about for $80. The one neighbor said they called him several times because he refused to respond to his calls and the other neighbor does not even know me. This has got to be illegal for these people to have these kinds of practices.

Harley Davidson Credit and their policy's of harassing customers suck!
Even after making payment arrangments or making a payment, they still call several more times on the same day!
You never get the same person or a extension number, none of them know whats going on, or thats what they use for a excuse, come on people, in 2010 you should have computers and people smart enough to know how to enter notes about a account in it.

Besides high interest, their fee's are extreme for giving them a credit card number over the phone ($12.00) or 6 dollars to pay online.

I recommend people to not use them, deal with your local credit union or local banker, at least you will be treated with respect.

Harley Davidson Financial does really suck! We were in the same boat at one time three years ago. We got behind, they kept calling. Over and over, even calling my husbands employer at the time he was there for 7 years. Being that my husband is a manager and deals with financial things at work, they started questioning him why he was getting such calls at work. We asked Harley to remove the phone number that was showing for my husbands employment and they did. They then kept calling the house over and over. After we had already set up a payment, made a payment and was just waiting for that second payment to go through, same issues happened to us. A repo guy showed up at the door and asked my husband for the key, so he didn't have to tear the bike up trying to tow it. My husband was furious, didn't believe a word I said at the time, he thought I was lying about setting up payments and talking to them. We had to work it out with them to pay $2000 to get the bike back, had to borrow that money from someone, then had to pay the repo company another $180 to get the bike from them. The next month, we got a bill from Harley asking us to pay the $180 to them because they claim they paid the repo company, which they did not. We still had our receipt, but since the repo guy died two weeks later, Harley didn't want to accept the receipt. So we were double wammied. On top of that, we only owed about $1200.00 when they came to repo it. They made us pay the additional $800 to get it back. We then sold our condo and came up with some $5000.00 more to pay on it that took us through May of 2007. We continued to pay payments on time for almost two years. Then we got behind again in 2008. We had a daughter born with a medical condition called Fibula Hemamelia, missing her fibula bone, ankle bones, foot bones and toes. We immediately requested a deferrment at that time. We begged for three months. It was supposed to be for Sept, Oct, and Nov. We continued making payments on time for the next several months on to today. Starting in January of this year, 2009, Harley Davidson started calling his mother who lives out of state, because she was used as a reference. We have no idea how they somehow lost our phone number, but she called my husband in question as to why they were calling her. We had no idea and called Harley Davidson and asked "what the heck?", and they started saying that we were two months behind, if we didn't make a payment our deferrments would be added onto the late payments and they would repo it again. (Well we are not past due and were very upset to hear this again from them). My husband called them from his company cell phone to discuss this with them and they went on to say that the deferrments were for July, Aug, & Sept, not what we had discussed with them and not what their letter reflects that they sent to us approving the deferrments. We were told at the time of the deferrments that we were all caught up, by Valerie so to speak, and she was the one who helped get the deferrments approved so she said. Now they keep calling my husbands job over and over and over and over and so on, three, to four times a day, starting at 8:00 in the morning until 9:00 at night. We have asked them to stop calling over and over, and even wrote a letter to them asking them to stop. They still continued on. Finally I threatened an attorney on them and that we would get them for harrassment. The phone calls stopped at his job and started at home. I have sat down for my husband and myself and drew up a letter in very good detail of all our payments, we have not missed a single payment since the deferrments and put that in the letter as well. Julie is the person we have been dealing with on this one. The lady informed us that no matter what it is going to come out to us being wrong and them being right. My husbands loan was solely pretty much an interest only loan through them, (a bunch of ### in itself when you are trying to make payments). She keeps bringing up that because it is an interest bearing loan that we are going to continuously be behind. I said well how the hell are we ever going to get caught up then if you keep telling us this. As to this day they never contacted the credit bureaus to tell them my husband is in possession of his harley, so it still shows as being repossessed (or did until it took me months to fight with the credit bureaus about it) and it was continuously bringing down his credit score. It seems that no matter what you do, you are always behind with them. ONE day late and like you said they call over and over and over. They dont care what the time is, they call. As soon as you answer the phone they start in on may I speak with so and so and will you just give me some account information so we can make sure this account is correct. I always say, listen you called us, you should have the account information and you just asked for so and so, so why do you have to go through five minutes of us verifying the account with you. Julie started out a nice helpful person. Then she started calling. I was on the way into a very important doctors appointment two weeks ago. A payment was due and my husbands paycheck ran later than expected. I called her and informed her I would make a payment online by Friday, instead of Wednesday when it was due. I already told her I didn't have time to discuss the account with her and she started going on and on. Saying how they took over $140 in fees off, because we were disputing late fees as well, we were still seeing on our statements of months deferred they were still charging us late fees for those months. I said Julie I said I would pay the payment on Friday and I have to go. She then still continued to talk. I hung up the phone. Then we just got our statement today, March 26th, from February. It shows a February payment, but now the balance seemed to go up from $800 owing to $1600.00. They never took the March payment off of there that we made two weeks ago. Nor have they taken the so called $140 off that she had mentioned to me. It is just so aggrevating and frustrating. We cant wait until we get "OUR" title from them. (the other thing that pisses us off, is that since 2002, when we got the bike brand new), my husband and i have put over $30, 000 in chrome and new parts, seat, bars, pipes, paint, etc. each time we get a letter from them saying payments are late, they put that you have until such a day to pay this such amount or we will come get our collateral. "You sons of ###", I want to tell them. Our balance owing to them is roughly $4000.00 left now, of a starting balance of $28, 000.00. It is OUR collateral as we speak. That is what I want to say to them stupid people over there. Also keep in mind that it is better to make your payments online. You get a receipt, and you know for sure how much is due. Each time we have called in to make a payment, we were told a much less payment was due. We did question at that time, and were told that "because of the kind of loan it is", that is all that is due at this time. Now in our dispute we have listed all the names of people we spoke to there whom informed us of these lesser payments being due, and they seem to not care. They still claim it is our fault for "so called defaulting on the loan". So now we only make payments online.

We were behind on a couple of payments after having made over 70 payments...The girl at Harley Financial (Valerie) said we could differ payments if we made a payment that day...So we did. A couple of days later, a repo guy showed up to try to take the bike...The repo guy left several very nasty and derogatory message on the phone after we caught up on the payments...Following up on the deferred payments, we were told that Valerie didn't have the wuthority to do what she did. No one ever notified us of the fact the agreement didn't go through...Harley sucks, Harley Financial really sucks! I hope they go bankrupt and get what they deserve for making poor quality bikes and lying to customers!

Harley Davidson too hot

I have an 2007 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic. When I ride my right thigh feels like it is above a blow torch. It is extremely painful. I just got off the phone with Harley Davidson and there is no fix for it. It is definitely a design flaw. Why did HD put the oil pain right underneath the rider is beyond me. I love my softail. It should be a joy to ride, not painful. The pain is so great at times, that is a distraction when you ride, this could be dangerous as you should have your wits about you when you ride, not thinking I am going to have blisters on my thigh when I dismount my bike. I also asked HD if there was a fix it in the works and the girl on the phone said no. Did state that HD may be redesigning the bike, which is of no use to me unless I want to get a new bike, but who in their right mind would purchase my 2007 when it hurts to ride it, therefore the value of my bike is worth nothing in a trade in. Harley Davidson needs to get on the ball and put a re-call on the bike so a deflector of some kind could be put on it.

my 2016 softtail deluxe gets so hot, I had to buy a heat deflector from Kuryaken. why should I pay for a design flaw of HD? Dealer just says Harley started this problem when they put bigger engines in the same frame.

to reduce the excessive heat switch to amsoil 20-50 motorcycle racing oil sythetic. pick up a jag oil cooler that attaches ahead of the oil filter and the cooler attaches to the down tube simple install do it your self.
for more heat reduction replace the original air filter with one like a k&n high flow. and if the state you are in allows you to punch you mufflers out a bit then your temp will be down a lot

I would like to formally complain about your customer service representative at [protected] named “Cindy” who wouldn’t give me her last name.

I was told the troubles I was experiencing with the “False Neutral Light” coming on and the engine or gears down shifting dangerously losing power was a recalled issue by Harley Davidson. I was driving it recently and the “False Neutral Light” came on and the engine went into neutral and refused to drive and I looked down and the 5 bolts that go into the rear tire sprocket were completely sheared off and the belt off as well.

I explained I was in there last year 11/12/07 and had called numerous times and everyone claimed my cycle wasn’t a recalled Vin number WHICH IS LUDICROUS!

When I called and spoke to a very rude and unprofessional “Cindy” she denied this was the case and became very defensive and rudely arrogant claiming I don’t know what I am talking about. This was why I advised her she didn’t know what she was talking about, then she decided to say I was being rude to her after she “clearly” initiated the rude and poor customer service towards me a good paying customer and military veteran who has been protecting her sorry self for 23 years!

I then requested to speak to her Supervisor and she refused again wrongfully and violated my rights and privileges as a citizen and good paying Harley customer and owner of over 4 Harley’s as well as 23 year Combat Military Veteran! I have always promoted Harley Davidson and all I get is LIES, MISLEADING INFORMATION, and NONSENSE from all of its derelict representatives! She denied me nearly dying and crashing on my Harley was true etc….What a disgrace she is to put it lightly!

Nevertheless, my cycle is not running with damaged internal parts perhaps, rear sprocket, hub etc.. I am requesting an INTELLIGENT Harley representative contact me without any delays and explain to me what professional corrective action will be taken to fix and repair this matter without any delays. If you fail to properly handle my complaint, I will be forced to contact every complaint agency on earth and take Harley Davidson Inc. to small claims court to compensate me for all repairs I have to made!

Please forward this complaint to your Corporate officers and respond to me via my cell phone immediately xxx xxx xxxx on what action Harley will take to repair all these screw ups and rude personnel!?

The 2007 not only gets hot and burns your right leg, mine also pings and the top end of the engine sounds like its going to blow up! I add the stage 1 down load, and Vance and hinds pipes to get it to run better and that cost me $1000 after spending $22, 000 on a new bike.

Harley Davidson needs to get their heads out of their ### before a lot of us go away from Harley. One of my friends has the same issues with his 07 Fatboy.

I am looking at BMW as soon as I finish this. Later, John

I Own a 2007 Ultra. On a trip to the western States I actually did burn my inner thighs. Dealer has told me there is no way of fixing this (except for some whimpy little air deflector). I f I can get rid of this barbeque I will be going back to a Jap bike. This is my first & last H.D. Which I am sorry to say because I waited & saved for a long time to get this bike.

Harley Davidson bad defect

I have a 2007 Harley Davidson Heritage Softtail Classic. You are sitting over the oil tank it gets extremely hot in fact quite painful. It is like someone is putting a Bic lighter to your thigh. Asked at the Dealership if there is a deflector and there is not. I love the bike, but it should be fun not painful.

When you are going fast you can get enough wind flow, but sometimes you are driving in traffic or in town and can not go fast enough to get a good wind flow. Harley Davidson needs to fix this flaw as this is the only problem I am having with this bike and I really want to keep the bike, but I do not want to have blisters on my thigh every time I ride.

Harley Davidson lost sale due to attitude problem

Salesman named Cody was very unprofessional; was more interested in making a sale than pleasing the customer. When we decided to wait on the purchase of a 2007 Road King, he refused to talk with us any more.

We were on the start of our week of vacation & decided to postpone the purchase until we came back. This upset Cody so much that he refused to discuss any further questions that we had.

Once we returned home from vacation, we did purchase a 2007 Road King - just not from Big Moose or Cody!

As there are Harley dealers everywhere, we feel that we will never have to enter the Portland Big Moose Harley store again.

Harley Davidson too hot

I have a 2008 HD Ultra Glide. I received first degree burns on my thighs while sitting in traffic. Has any one else had problems with engine getting that hot to cause burns?

This new engine runs hot even when doing 60mph, but have not had any mechanical problems.

I think when a person purchases a vehicle it should be safe to drive without having to worry about getting burnt.

Are there any solutions to this problem?

Does anyone know of any class action law suites taking place because this type of injury or if HD is going to initiate a recall to prevent burns.

Just bought 2011 HD Trike. After riding this bike for 40 miles, it feels like your leg is burning off. I've had other Harleys and never experienced this before. We went on vacation for 2 wks. and trip was cut short after getting 2nd degree burns on right leg and 1st degree burns on inside of upper crotch area on both legs. I spent the rest of the trip riding with a wet towel between my legs to ride on.
Another friend of mine bought her trike on Saturday while we were on vacation and she too experienced the same thing after driving 40 miles. She had to pull off the road because she thought she was going to pass out. We will both be taking our trikes back to the dealership on Tuesday for them to fix this problem.

I have another issue with HD. I own a 2006 Electraglide Standard. Bought it used with 5K on the odometer. Ran like a clock until 13K. I have this metal grinding noise similar to a coffee grinder grinding coffee on the right side of the engine. I've been living with this for the last 8K since no one at the dealer will lift a finger and truly investigate my problem. I finally found an independent HD certified mechanic who is pretty sure the trans bearings are shot or possibly cam tensioner bearings or cam chains, or the chain tensioners. All I know is that it's miserable to ride as the noise is constant above 35mph cold or hot. I'm getting desperate as my wife's Dyna makes the same noise. Any help is appreciated.

The dealer is not doing a god damn thing fyi...they told me it is because the EPA has required stricter emmissions and require that the bike runs extremely lean causing the pipes to be hotter than they ever have been before(they were hot before but bearable)Unless you have an 07 or 08 do not comment because the problem is serious!Do not buy a new 08 ultra!

Harley Davidson - poor customer service

The service Department at Latch is very inconsiderate to customers needs. The theme of Latch is to get you in, make the money off of you, then put you on hold. The parts and accessory department is excellent! The owner and service... Not worth 2 cents!

Harley Davidson engine heat!

My 08 ultra is so hot it hurts, myself and my wife are being slow roasted by the motor and its not even summer. Can we file a class action suit against Harley Davidson for knowing their engines will burn the crap out of anyone riding it? I know Harley did this so the bike can pass the EPA standards but come on I paid $23, 000.00 for a bike that is almost as hot as the sun.

Count me in. HD dealerships know of the problem, there are countless HD forums that detail and describe the problem, as well as the fix form the majority-spend morre money on retune, pipes, and air cleaner. I have heard from all about it being an air cooled engine, but should I be cooked and or burnt as I ride? I have explained to the dealership that if I had purchased a Sporty of some type I might be a little more acceptable, but when I have the supposed Caddy of HD, '09 UC, and have to spend more money JUST so I can ride it seems unacceptable. Love the bike and the ride itself, but the cooking seems to me a bit extreme and fixable at THEIR cost.

We will try to work around this...She says she wont ride till winter.

I have a 2007 dyna low rider, bought it brand new. I do not ride it often due to its heat on the right side of it. I had to see a dermatalogist because I had a severed inflamation of the skin on my inner thigh. I had bought it with the intention to ride it with the rest of my buddies. I wanted to be all American and bought an American product. all my buddies ride Japanese motorcycles.

I took it to the local dealer and no one told me other riders had the same problem as mine. They claim nothing is wrong with it, but I know there is something wrong with the excessive heat.

I had never driven a motorcycle and had plans to enjoy my retirement riding my bike, but I just ride it around for a few miles and come back and put it away.

Bottom line, I am afraid of getting that inflamation of the skin again. I could hardly walk.

Harley Davidson 2003 harley road king &y pipe& failure

I have a 2003 road king classic and am going on my 3rd "y pipe" (y pipe connected to rear cylinder). After a very short period of time small cracks develop in the area of the y, and get larger in time until the pipe needs to be replaced. I have talked with many other owners who have experienced that same failure, multiple times. I have discussed this with many technicians and the owner of goe harley davidson in angleton texas. All admit this is a design defect. I asked them why harley has not stepped up and offered a solution, like a two into two exhaust system, which eliminates the y pipe. The only answer I received was that yes, harley is aware of the problem but that there was so many bikes out in the market place that they were notgoing to step up and openly admit the problem and offer a solution. This is not the right way for harley to handle their business and consumer loyalty.

Harley Davidson bad quality product!

I have a 2005 buckshot screaming eagle colbalt blue fatboy. I have had problems over and over with the paint job and clear coat. I have had to replace all the skins several times due the rust under clearcoat where the bare metal is on the skins and cleat coat chipping. The day I bought my bike harley had to replace the tank due to rust. I am looking for anyone who has had similar problems. I am considering a 'class action suit'.

Im just getting ready to contact Harley about the same pproblem as im on my second fender and rust is comming thru all over where the clear coat is the result of not drying the bare metal before applying paint. also having the 103 inch crank and reulting damage caused by latus of Gladstone failing to tighten the compensator nut when installing the new engine thou I brought iit in several times because of the noise from the primary they said that was normal as was the starter grinding and the bike not starting naturaly the starter was bad the electric fuel pump out and now the crankshaft stator and rotor ruined because of that normal noise which when exposed the transmision outer sleeve that had cost over 500$ to repair hadnt been touched. and is probly my fault for not allowing Latus more than the 4 or so months to repaiiiir what they apperntly didnnt repair. so now no bike again. All want to know about customer service But the fact that things like this are common place unlike the small sho0ps where their reputation and quality are the diffrence wetheir or not theres food on the table are able to make the same repairs in less time and with #1 quality may cause anyont to ask what is the reason that a Harley dealership as large as Latus who focues is got to be sales is allowed to have service shop. I am so not alone and will have to recover as best as possible all as a result of the work done at the place of busness I made my purchace 32, 000 dollars by the way for my 06 STFBSE2 Not attempting to cause a stir just stating facts and im understating for sure forgen isnt a option for me so whats happening is devestating to the way I love to live Bob Fiiocchi Hermiston Oregon [protected]

I bought mine in August of 04, and I've replaced both the front and rear fenders within that same year due to rust spots under the clear coat - then I wasn't able to ride it for a while so it went untouched in a covered climate controlled garage in South Florida (figured that would be the safest bet).

Now that I've moved back to NY, I am getting it ready to roll again and notice the front fender has another rust spot under the clear coat. The clutch and brake control on the handlebars has pitted and the chrome is peeling away, the exhaust has little rust speckles over both pipes, the top caps for the front forks are flaking off chrome. I called the dealership to see if it was still under warranty - Nope.

Honestly, I grew up loving H-D, but you definitely do not get what you pay for. Once I get this beast fully paid off, I'm going back to a Yamaha 1100 V-Star Classic. Just as nice and not as harsh on your pocketbook if something goes wrong.

For the record, I owned a 650 V-Star prior to the Harley, and never once had problems with any of it. Change the oil, keep it maintained and it'll ride like new for forever. For what I paid for the Fatboy, I could replace a V-Star 6 times over.

If I could do something about it, I would.

Harley Davidson harley-davidson's lack of info to buyers

My compliant is that I have a 05 fat boy and it uses oil. I called harley-davidson customer service and they advised me that it was normal and within specs that new harley's use one quart of oil every 1500 miles. I feel harley-davidson should tell the customer that their new bike more than likely will be using oil. I sure would not buy a new vehicle if I know it will be using oil! Nothing is stated in owners manual about oil consumption and they recommend oil change at every 5,000 miles, my question to harley-davidson is why change the oil when I have to keep adding new oil every 1500 miles? If the general public was made aware of this issue, not many new harley's would be sold.

A few years ago I was in a trafffic accident with my '03 superglide. I took it to William's harley davidson in New Jersey. The gas tank was dented and needed replacing. Harley sent a defective replacement tank to me and I rejected it. After repeated denials that the tank was defective, the dealer finally admitted that there was a problem and secured yet another tank for me. I received a call that the tank had been replaced and that the bike was finished. The next day i noticed that the defective tank was never replaced and that I had been lied to. Needless to say I will never use this dealership again and I would advise others not to do so either.
