HandymanClubOfAmerica / trying to charge for something I dont want

1 Hartford, CT, United States Review updated:

I joined handyman club of America back in 2005, I payed some duce money, and I stayed for a few months, but after awhile I decided this is not for me .So I stop. I did not recieve anything from them for awhile. Untill around 2007 or 08, I get this letter from a collection agencie saying I own money to handyman club. The way Im thinking they own me money, becouse I paid duce money back in 05. Now Im not hearing from the collection agencie but from them collecting duce money. I m looking for a phone numbre so I can call and cant find one. I want to stop these bills.

I sent my application for membership in Oct/Nov for a 3 yr period. Put it on my credit card. It was never processesd. They never sent me one thing to acknowledge or decline my membership. Now they are sending me "Collections Referral Notices". I am not a happy camper. If they want to pursue this avenue of dealing w/clients, be my guest.9f

I spoke to customer service 3-19-08 and made a complaint that I did not get my 3 free gifts. They stated that I should get them in 3-10 business days from now. If I do not, i will cancel my 3yr. membership and expect immediate re-payment $36.00. Then an investigation will take place. Please do the right thing and deliver what you promised to the members. There are so many scam artists out there that are just foaming at the mouth to "RIP" people off. I know a lot of people in the construction industry and need I say more? Please honor your part of the deal, not only to myself, but anyone who paid you their membership dues. Regards, S. Midcap

I still have not heard or received ANYTHING from the folks at Handyman. Today, I spoke to another agent that said I should get my gifts that were promised to me in a cpl. weeks. If I do not receive these by the end of April, I want my money back and will cancel my membership! I advise anybody who does not get what they were promised to do the same. These folks seem to forget where their "bread& butter comes from, customers like you and me. So GET ON BOARD HANDYMAN CLUB!!! S. Midcap

I was a member of Handyman Club and they must have sold my information, because I was pounded with e-mails and junk mail to no end. Then I started getting 5 pages of junk from them on being a life member and getting all those tools. It wasn't till the last page that it was going to cost you 29.00 for 14 months or something like that. My friend joined and it took over 9 months for him to receive his free gift. I just got a issue in the mail last that I did not suscribe to and this week I got a bill. I do not want to be a member or receiveyour magazine. I want a postage paid label so I can return the magazine to them. TEG

I too have not recieved anything from handy man of america and I get these statements from handyman that they are going to turn me into collection, which I paid online, after reading some of the complaints on here I wouldnt continue on with this thing in a million years, I cant call them because there is no number on the statement. What a rip off, buyer BEWARE.

On 03/04/08 I sent in my $24.00 for membership..All I recieved was a promotion for buying books at $10.00 each..I sent them a letter stating that I was not interested in buying any books . I then asked for a refund..member #####7531781.I never recieved anything since then. I have asked to cancel my membership and sena a refund..No answer. Again on 06/10/08 I sent a letter to Kate Pope asking for a refund..No answer. They are NOT a honest company..Do not try to do business with them!

I never got an invoice for the renewal, so I did not think about it until I realized I was not alowed to sign to their web site. I called and asked if I was still a member.I did not get an answer. Many months later I get a letter saying I had to pay for a 2 year subscription or they would turn my case over to a collection agency. After investigating Irealized that my subscription stopped in May and I heared nothing untill I got the letter about the collection bit.checking back I found out that my membership was good until May 2008 when I recieved the last issue of Handy. They waited until the end of Nov to send me that letter. I belive that they were just trying to get me to sign up for another 2 years.NO WAY.I'm goin to call (and send a letter to both them and the attorney general) to explain there busness tactics.

Ever time I try to log on too the web site.I get million, s of handy man sites and have a hard time trying too find the home site.So I can enter contest, s, or all the other thing, s.There needs to be one site listed for members only..And not having to go throw millions of sites. To fine the site for members so I can get the benefs for a
    life member.
