Gym Company overcharges

Good day,

Kindly note that I took out a gym contract for my son in December 2017 - Contract No: 08047 AB

The first monthly installment was due end January 2018 for the amount of R249 as my son is still in School and had to provide documentation.

At the end of January 2018 an amount of R299 was deduced from account. I personally went to the Gym and spoke to the administrators in the back office whom promised me that an amount of R200 would be deducted from the next payment in order to be correct in going forward.

The debit order once again went off for the same amount of R299. Thus is the gym now currently owing me R100.

I have contacted the Gym yesterday 1st March 2018 @ 10h48 and was put through to Cindy who after 3 min and 52 seconds told me that the amount is correct and must be R299. Please go and check the contract!
She than put the phone down in my ear ! This is totally unacceptable.

I then contactd the following cell number [protected] @10h49 and once again explained the whole story to the Sales consultant. I was then told that she will get Lucky the Manager to phone me immediatly. I have since tried several times to phone the land line and the cell number by no one was answering the phones.
At last 11h27 I got through and asked for Lucky. I have then asked him to phone me back as I'm not going to waste my money. He then contacted me @ 11h34.

After explaining again, he then told me that he did get the message and the email I have submitted online to them. I was also informed that he will investigate and that I should give him atleast 10 min to phone me back.
This is now the following day 2nd March 2018 and still no phone call back from Lucky.

So once again I have contacted his cell number [protected] @ 08h09 and was told that this is now another Lucky speaking and that I should phone back 09h00. I refused and requested the telephone number of the owner of the gym company. I was then told that he will not give it me.

If I do not get a response by 12h00 today, it will leave me no other option to go and reverse the 2 debit orders. I will also accept that the contact is cancelled. Should there also be any further issues, I will have no other choice than to log it with Hello Peter.

The attitude towards the members / contract owners of the gym is shocking to say the least.

Gym Company no customer service... no feedback

Since last year march (2017) I have been complaining abou no aircons/broken aircons/no one has the key to the room to switch on the aircon... I have spoken to every single manager (or so they call themselves), and still no one has attended to the problem. Still no one has phoned or mailed me. The most useless company I have ever dealt with... Incompetent staff and managers.

Gym Company account cancellation

I am a student and have been trying to cancel my gym membership as I can no longer afford their services. I have tried contacting the Braamfontein branch to cancel my membership but have been told that they cannot assist me through the phone and I need to come physically which is something I cannot do as I no longer live in Gauteng. They continue to take debit orders every month and as my account has no money I am now seemingly in debt that I cannot pay as I am unemployed. This could have been all avoidable if I was given a chance to cancel my membership while I did not owe the gym any money for their service. I would like the gym to cancel my membership without paying ample fees which I cannot afford. The gym manager by the name of Sbusiso lied saying that I can cancel the membership anytime. I found this out the hard way.

Same thing happened during my first year of varsity. They told me I had to pay a cancellation fee which I couldn't afford even if it were in installments. I decided to empty my bank account and close it and then opened another savings account. The managers won't help you but they'll calculate your cancellation fee for you and trust me you won't like it.

Gym Company gym company is the worst ever

You guys are total rip-off. My account has been debited twice almost every month and then I still get calls to say that my account is in arears! I want out as soon as possible of this gym. I have put a very bad review on helopeter as well! I suggest you go and have a look at all the horrible reviews on helo peter about gym company! And do something about it! The management at flora centre is absolutely horrible to deal with tooo

Gym Company service

I want to give my brother a tag to come gym because I will be out of time for few month's, I phone and asked if that is possible as I will still be paying the subscription, the answer was yes, I can come with the person because he needs to be there.Yesterday I went to bara branch narrated my story, to my surprise I was told that only the branch manager can authorise who was day off, later I need to pay 500 for that, I gave the lady my numbers so that I can be called, no one has bothered to call me, can someone call me urgently please.

Gym Company unauthorised debit order / unauthorised membership

I was approached by a rep at Maponya mall in December, he offered me a free trial, but to get the free trial, he said I should sign up for it. now they debited my account in January. When I called to report this, Makhosi spoke to me and was so so rude, told me that I'm so stupid and he was not helpful at all. I don't work, I cannot afford to pay this membership, I didn't even agree or apply for membership, I was told it was a free trial. This is fraud.

Gym Company fraud account

This company it has to close down, they only use forms to open membership accounts, no proof of ID, proof of res or bank account statement, anyone can go there for a free trial using someone's details and they don't do any identity check, i was a victim of fraud account, I called transition to check my credit history and booom apparently I owe them R8000 when I call to get more information about the account I don't get any help from any of their workers when I ask for the manager he is always busy, I logged in a dispute with transunion and they busy investigating the matter, and whenever I call gym company they put me on hold for 10 minutes and they still haven't given me any answers. This company should close down!

Gym Company unauthorised debit orders

Last year November I was approached by a gym company rep, he told me that that was a free trial at the gym & insisted I go see how it works. he said in order for me to have access to the trials I will need to fill a white form he had & that I provide him with my identification. The last day of November amount of R179 was deducted from my account by gym company, I emailed them and they told me to go cancel at the Maponya branch, got there and they told me about cancellation fee to terminate the contract. I didn't join, & I am just Student I can't afford to be blacklisted. Please help.

Gym Company gym membership card/access

I joined the Gym Company in October 2017 Maponya Mall Soweto. first debit order was in November 2017 together with the membership card fee. ever since the month of December after the amount was debited I have been told I cannot get a membership card as they are upgrading there system. I asked online through their Facebook page about getting a membership card and was told to go to any other branch. when I get to other branches am told the same" we using new system new members need to be allocated with the new access card. my problem I cannot access the service am paying a monthly fee due to the "system upgrade and non of your staff members even care of this huge financial inconvenience your company is causing me. the system cannot make a membership card yet every month it debits my account. I demand to have immediate access to the services am paying for or cancel your contract of which your miserable failing to abide to. I refuse to be debited for services I do not have access to. the last time I checked gym company was not a charity organising so I do not understand this free donation am making to you guys unwillingly. I just do not understand how do you expect me to wait for a simple card where as your unable to wait in debiting my account up until I have access to the service am paying for.

Gym Company accounts

I owed gym company R1500, I paid the money in October 2017. I received a letter from them that acknowledged that they received my payment and that it will be loaded on to their systems. In January 2018 I applied for an account which was declined because my name is on the credit bureau because of my debt to gym company. I've been in communication with their accounts manager whose name is Taine. She promised that she will resolve the issue ASAP. I emailed her several times but she has not responded, now when I call her she doesn't take my calls. So I am stuck waiting for her to send me proof/letter of clearance and I can't continue with my applications because of this matter.

Gym Company accounts

I am very disappointed with the level of service that your account department provides... they just dont have any interest of what so ever. I been holding for 20 min and I can hear that the person that said she will come back to me is assisting someone, I am not sure if it a walk in service or what. I been told that the systems are very slow, etc but from what I believe how do you run a business with dysfunctional systems and for a very big company how do you only have one account person to assist with all account inquiries. I been asked to leave my ID number and contact details several times and I have not yet receive any call back. I am very puzzled about the level of service and we call it a business with low level of having to find out if we are happy with the services provided. I hope this serves that you give enough attention to your accounts department more than making sales.

Gym Company unauthorized debit order

Good day
My name is Smangele Mndila I have never ever joined the gym but have been debited for three consecutive months, I have been reversing it every month end since October, November and December 2017. I went to the branch in Maponya Mall and was told I need to bring my Bank statements and id after that the lady told me she couldn't pick up anything with my id number the case is that someone in my family might have used my banking details, Which is not true because my bank account is in my name not of any family member, Please help because this has been continuing and I dont want to be blacklisted and have been keeping a very good and clean credit record. Kindly remove my banking details because I didn't sign and agree to anything.

Gym Company account

This is the not the first time i am emailing, i have been emailing since beginning Nov and no one is helpful. I have been struggling since i signed up and no one is helpful...

And that is not included in the letter. Yet again my account was debited on the WRONG date. Unauthorised! (just so you know this is fraud)

Thus it just proved this company only cares about sales targets and not customers service!

I done my research and i saw all the articles even on News 24, hallo peter and your throwing the company name away...
Reqd my letter carefully and please assist. Cause ill never set foot in that company agaunt.. With my partner being a laywer and my other friend also. It's safer if i stay away and someone assists, cause they're ready to make fire.. And i don't want innocent people to get hurt...

Some math class i missed apparently cause these people can't calculate...

I know the gym is in the news and of many who is ready to file a lawsuit..

It is with deepest regret that I am sending this email. And I do apologize if I sound rude. I work with
parents and I know how rude people can be 
I did my research, and I know I am not the only one.
I thought it fair to inform you to see what will be done to my issue with the company, before
addressing Hello peter. Because I have been struggling weeks on end for answers! And I have a full
time 12-13 hours' a day job just like I know you do, I can't go running around to baby other people in
their professions. I don't believe in running to hallo peter and name shame other companies that's
why I am emailing you.
I signed up in the mid to end July 2017 at the gym being promised a one month free, so my first
payment will be only in September 2017, but I was informed that a payment tried to go off in August
2017 and failed… no one assisted me.
In September a payment went off of my bank and up till TODAY it is still not showing on the
"system" of the gym company… and it's frustrating me. All they say is email your bank statement
and well look into it, but nothing. and my statements are private documents it's got nothing to do
with no one, every damn time I have to re email my statement, but nothing is done! And they keep
saying I must come so they'll see. I sent them the same equation as I do you now, but still they don't
know.
And now they say I owe the gym R1294! In what universe?
So not only didn't I get my "month free", but I am "sommer" paying double for that month!
I was supposed to start paying from September so let's see if I can outsmart the gym company
systems maths…

Tag R100.00(which I only gotten 2-3 Months after)
R896.00 (Even with a payment in August it would add up to R1095 Not R1294)

I really don't want to be part of this gym anymore and, I refuse to get my contract signed
over and let my friends suffer like this!
I had few people lined up to sign up and gym with me from December, but I am too good of
a person to let them struggle like this.
I never complain and I told all my teaching colleagues how fun it is at the gym, but not
anymore. I want to cancel my contract, with the money I am paying I can buy my own gym
equipment. I didn't even go this month or most of last month, because I feel irritated to
know my tag will say I didn't pay! It is embarrassing!
Don't get me started on the debt orders that's going off on wrong dates, and wrong
amounts!
Please let me know. Seeing that I am not going to gym from next week I will be in
Lichtenburg for two months, and when I return I'll be moving to Alberton for a teaching
positon and ill apply at a gym there!
I will pay the remaining R299 which I do owe, but from there I want my contract to be void.
And cancelled please.

Gym Company cancellation

In march 2016, I have decided to join the gym company, I opened a 2 year contract for my brother and advised the sales consultant that I don't want a contract as he won't be living with me for long. The sales consultant assured me I can cancel at any time nothing was said about any cancellation fees.in june 2017 I went ahead to cancel the contract with the astounding shock that I have to pay this large sum of money since the contract will only end in a few months therefore the lady helping me advised I can rather leave it to become less and pay a smaller amount. Today 6 months later I called in to once again cancel whereby the lady assisting me advised my contract ends only in 2019? No one has informed me of this, I have not used the facilities for a good 9 months and I pay your silly double debit in november. I refuse to pay this cancellation fee and I refuse to continue paying this dumbfounded company for crappy service and lies. It is also soooo weird that this company does not have an official finance office or complaints desk? Help

Gym Company misrepresentation

Dear Sirs,

TSHIAMO RUDY MOSIANE // GYM COMPANY MEMBERSHIP No- 54777BG

1. We refer to the above matter and on the outset confirm that we act on the instructions of Tshiamo Rudy Mosiane, our clients herein.
2. We have obtained instructions from our client regarding the issues raised in by your offices, in particular the alleged claim against our client emanating from the "so called contract".
3. On or about 28 August 2017 at your Bara branch, our client was approach by your Mr Luthando Mbantshe ("Mr Mbantshe"), to enter into a contractual agreement to use your gym services. At first approach our client declined the offer made by your Mr Mbantshe and following her decline he then convinced her to enter into the contract on a trial basis.
4. Mr Mbantshe informed our client that the agreement was only a trial contract that would only come into effect after 3 months, wherein our client would be free to terminating same within the aforementioned period. It was only on this representation that our client agreed to enter into the contract with your Mr Mbantshe.
5. It then came to our client's attention that three months trial would be coming to an end and as she did not wish to become bound to the agreement she decided to terminate same. Further, it is important to note that throughout this period our client did not use the services of your company.
6. On or about 16 October 2017, our client approached your offices at your Bara branch to terminate the contact as was her prerogative in terms of the contract entered into with your Mr Mbantshe. She was then informed, by your personnel at your Bara branch, that she was liable to a cancellation fee of R1 500.00. The reason given was that the contract was not a trial, however, same came into full effect on 28 August 2017.
7. Our client entered into the contract as a result and direct consequences of the misrepresentation made by your Mr Mbantshe. Our client would not have entered into the contract had she known the true terms and condition of the contract. As a result of Mr Mbantshe misrepresentation, failure and/or negligence to inform the Plaintiff of the true condition of the contract our client is not bound to the contact.
8. Furthermore, it is of great importance to note that at no point did your offices perform an affordability assessment on our client as required by the Credit Agreement Act. This reflects negligence on the part of your offices as failing to perform an affordability assessment may result in reckless credit.
9. We do not intend to deal in detail with the misrepresentation or reckless credit in this matter. We reserve our rights to deal more fully with such at an appropriate time and in an appropriate forum should a need arise. Our failure to deal with a specific misrepresentation or recklessness should not be construed as abandonment of same.
10. In the premise, it is our instruction, as we hereby do, to termination the contract entered into between our client and yourselves. Our client further denies any allegations of indebtedness of damages or capital emanating from the so-called agreement, and confirms that any actions taken by you will be vigorously opposed.
11. Kindly further take notice that any further notice, process and or communication in respect of this matter must be addressed to and through our offices.
12. We advise that the facts and assertions contained herein are not exhaustive of our Client's version against you. Accordingly, our Client reserves the rights to amend, supplement or vary the assertions contained herein at any appropriate time in an appropriate forum should a need therefore arise.
13. We trust the above action will not be necessary and in the meantime our client's rights remain reserved.

Gym Company double debits

Hi
For the past year and last i have been complaining about the wrong debit date and being double debited.

spoke to Charlotte accounts to fix the error and they sorted the wrong debit dates after numerous request to do so.

My account was then double debit more than once, complained and even spoke to the gym manager to explain why this is happening.

I asked him to send me a written explanation as to why my account is being handled in this manner, till to date im still waiting on response.

Clearly showing that he does not care about his customers.

i then returned to the gym ask Charlotte to send a written confirmation that they will freeze my account till the February 2018.

November 2017 I was double debited again, please see attached mail from Charlotte.

please can you cancel my membership as im not pleased with the service I'm getting.

Gym Company unauthorized debit orders

I was approached by a rep of the gym company in March and he told me that they were having a special and it was just R1 to join and that I would only need to pay R200 monthly should I decide to come to the gym.He told me I could also bring along 5 friends free for a specified amount of time, all that was needed was for me to register at my closest branch.I however did not join the gym and was surprised when I recieved a R200 debit order from them at the end of the month.
I tried to call them to resolve the matter but my phone call was ignored several times.I then decided to send an email and was told to call a lady by the name of Mbali her line went straight to voicemail each time I called.
After 5 moths of reversing debit orders and calling to no avail I was finally given someone to talk to.This lady told me that I needed to go to the branch I had registered at, I informed her that that was not possible as I was not living in that area anymore and asked if there was any other way to cancel the account.She told me that the only way that the they could cancel my account is if I were to pay the R900 I was currently owing and went on to say that they would blacklist me for bad payment if the amount reached R1000, until then the amount will keep growing and growing unless the amount was paid fully.
PLEASE HELP ME.I am just a student and I have no way of paying this money and cannot afford to be blacklisted.

Gym Company debits from my account

so i meet a guy at bara and he sold me the contract and i told him i wont be able to attend gym till my stitches have heal he said to me there wont be any debits under my account until i have the tag and my way to gym only to finf out thats a lie debit orders started coming through and now im blacklisted and cant apply for credit any were because of them can they remove the blacklist because i really dont want to live this klind of life i dnt owe them anything

Gym Company hold the account

I went to gym company at doornfotein to tell tthem I'm currently not working and I want to hold my account for payment and they told me I must first pay R395 or something tht I'm owing before they can help me.
I currently don't have tht money and my payment are due this month. How will I get help in this matter as I don't want my account to be over due and ending up paying lots of money

Gym Company cancellation of membership

Two of your trainers approached me in March to sign up for your gym membership. I was unable to use the membership and I am still unable to as I don't know where the gym is located and don't feel like using it anylonger. I would like to cancel my membership as I am unable to pay the membership and don't like to continue with this agreement. Please let my membership be cancelled.
