Guthy-Renker Inaction and Misleading

I requested a TRIAL PACK of their product and while not overly impressed with it, and certainly did not wish to continue using it, I did not regret trying it. UNTIL...

One Month later, on my Credit Card I notice another Charge which I immediately queried - by phone. I was informed in some SMALL PRINT SOMEWHERE (nowhere in anything that was sent with the Trial Pack nor obvious to the naked eye on any accompanying documentation either online (receipt/remittance advice) that I would be billed for subsequent months for Future Supplies.

I am a well-educated, well-read and generally savvy middle aged woman and they managed to camouflage the details from me; there can not be any doubt they intend to mislead and force these follow up products onto one.

However, after 2 phone calls, I was given a RETURN AUTHORISATION NUMBER - and told that the PRODUCT which I should receive shortly, was to be returned (at MY EXPENSE) and my Credit Card would be credited with the amount debited.

I EXPRESS POSTED their product back to them upon its arrival (it had arrived the day after my phone call) after first opening their Box - they insisted - and filling out the FORM inside with the products and including the RETURN AUTHORISATION NUMBER they issued to me.

Over a Fortnight Later and no credit entries from them on my Credit Card, I attempt to ring them to discuss my plight.

Their receptionist/telephonist alerts me that they have a huge log of Calls and someone will ring me back. Not today, probably tomorrow.

This isn't acceptable. The public needs to be warned of this type of Company. They are Deliberately holding off refunding my money for product - unwanted and unsolicited.

I await any advice, recommendations you can offer.

Guthy-Renker I got charged without ever receiving the product

WTF is up with this *** and her company...i am so irritated right now...i place an order about two weeks ago i paid the shipping for rush order...wtf where is my order..i havent even had a chance to talk to customer services because the wont answer..nobody ever picks up..

Does anyone out there know of anything else i can do because i would like to cancel my account before they charge me again..

Somebody know of any other number where i can call? Help me please!

I am very upset with this..ive been on the line waiting for a sheer cover beauty consultant wtf...for 2 *** hours..

I had to close out my credit card. Total scam, this company is. They need to be fined for false advertisement and for all the harrasement being done from letters and re-sending of return to sender products.
This is a bad set-up. And I would like to help out anyone who wants to fight this scam of a company!

Guthy-Renker Scam

I ordered a TRIAL of the Principle secret. In MAY, 2009, I lost my job. I called to CLOSE and CANCELLED my account.

Last week I lost my wallet and called my bank to get a new debit card/ checks. I then saw an UNAUTHORIZED debit for $97.84. I reported this to my bank as unauthorized and fraud. I didn't make this charge.

Yesterday my husband brought in a box from Guthy Renker! I called [protected] number to find out why they had shipped this when I had closed my account in May, 2009.

Talked to a rep - Rebecca. I told her I wanted a REFUND to my account that I'd CLOSED the account IN May 2009 because I'd lost my job. She said their records said to delay shipping till December. I told her that was WRONG. I'd lost my job and never wanted to get another shippment and CLOSED MY ACCOUNT and that is what I had said in May.

I told her I didn't open it and was going to send it back. She said I'd have to pay for shipping. I said NO WAY! I didn't order this anyway, I refuse to pay for shipping. She said it would take up to 4 weeks to get a refund! I want them to credit my account NOW.

I am ONE of the THOUSANDS of complaints against Guthy Renker. They DON'T close your account and keep debiting your checking account. They have bad customer service. I'm filing a complaint with Better Business and my Atty General.

As consumers we all have to be wary of "too good to be true" offers and deals! I have purchased products from Guthy Renker. I have also returned products! The most important thing for us as consumers to remember is that, there are people who's job it is to study human behavior and design advertising that breaks down our ability to logically resist the product being sold! I'm not defending Guthy Renkers policies or practices but, WE are the ones who are all too willing to give our card information and not hear the details that ARE clearly stated in the sales pitch in exchange for that miracle fix! Advice for returning items?! Send them back through your postal service in such a manner whereby they need to be signed for, that signature will be electronically captured and stored. Then DONT lose your tracking #! Ever! They won't be able to tell you they didn't get it back when you can have the postal service look it up and show you the signature proving that it was delivered! Don't get frustrated, be a smart consumer! Elizabeth

I ordered a year supply of MSM w/glucosomine, paid in full. Several weeks later, I found an unfamiliar charge on my monthly statement. Soon after, another charge that I found on this months statement. UNAUTHORIZED! Do I have to take this matter into my own hands @ my Credit Union, or will other steps
be taken.

I ordered the PorActiv package and was automatically given a free months worth of the VitaClear. After my daughter tried it she got sick, vomiting and such. I immediately canceled the product and was told that they had already shipped the new months worth. I was then told the money they took out of my account was not refundable until they received the package. I have since returned the package and not received a refund. To top it all off, they have continued to take money out of my account. They claim they have not received the returned package. They are the worst!

From May to October 2010 I have been charged once a month for a two month supply of VitaClear. This company is very very crooked. I called on October 14th to cancel my account and then three weeks later, I have another charge! Apparently I had to pay for another shipment that I never received.

This company is crooked. Guthy Renker owns both Vita Clear and Proactive but when you call either call center the customer representatives state that they don't know anything about the other company or that they are owned by the same company.

I even liked their Proactiv product but the excessive charging from the account is not worth it! I HATE these companies.

Why there is any TV media address the Guthy-REnker's product gouging and scamming customer? Do not buy anything when it says Guthy-Renker. They will scam you with a low introductory and high shipping and handling, you become a privileged club member, then your credit card is charged monthly, outrageous amount of payment to Guthy-Renker automatically. AND it is impossible to cancel your membership by 800 numbers they provide you. They are scam artist.

Reps are brain washed to avoid your cancelling, you hang-up the phone, don't know what hit you. You will see are paying continuously through your credit card.

I received my first trial package from crepe erase. I phoned the company just before receiving the second shipment to cancel, within the 90 trial period. They told me the second shipment had been despatched but to return it and they would refund me for the futher payment. I also found out during that conversation that they take monthly payments from your account with different names within the trial period. They refunded me £29.99 and assured me no other payments had been taken. I then get my bank statement to find they have taken a further 2 payments of £34.94 on two consecutive months. I have contacted them again on numerous occasions and tried their live chat but no reply/response. What a scam! NEVER GO NEAR ANYTHING TO DO WITH GUTHY RENKER THEY ARE CON ARTISTS!

I have used the Wen hair care system, off and on for three years. Toward the end of the last time I used the product, I noticed a significant hair loss, as well as a definite decrease In the thickness of my hair. I have always had very thick hair, and the only hair product that has ever caused this much damage to my hair is WEN. I don't know whether this company will go out of business, but they should, at the very least be required to compensate the people, who have suffered significant trauma, with something, and not just a refund.

After reading these complaints, I just want to say sorry. I used to be a Guthy Renker agent. Your concerns/complaints are valid. GR's policies & practices are very deceptive. And I want to say sorry. As an ex agent...hopefully the info that I share will help or help someone else out. Of course if you can to cxl acct as a rep we are of course to try & save, but if not I would cxl. If you cxl & have an email you should get a cxl ltr in 24 hours in your inbox it was done correctly. If agent suggest postponing don't...it pushes your nxt shipment out to a later date. If you don't want to pay for return shipping - ask for a return label. GR pays $25 for each return label but GR has $$$ make them pay for it. If you receive a NSF from your bank due to authorized charges ask agent for fax# to corporate billing. FYI, if you order product thru a sales rep or online you are automatically signing up for the auto shipments. You can get out of it by telling agent you do not agree with T & C...acct cxl no questions, $$$ refunded. If you have an allergic reaction to the products make sure that before you tell this to an agent that they have cxl your acct otherwise whats going to happen is that the agent will transfer you to CAT department that handles allergic reaction calls but the CAT agent WILL NOT cxl your acct. I bought a trial of “It cosmetics”. 3 months later I got another package at which point I emailed “It Cosmetics" who gave me a 1-800 number to call. I wrote back to let them know that I am in Jamaica and I cannot
call toll free from here. “It” said that I should send my original order information
and they will reach out to "them" on my behalf ( not mentioning Guthy Renkers name).

6 months later I got another package and I wrote “it Cosmetics” again demanding to
know who “them” is as I would like to personally reach out to them too.

I have already spent J$32, 451.56 on the two packages sent me without my consent
which is the value of the items, freight forwarding charges and multiplied by our exchange rate,
and I have not used any products from these packages as I have been ill and have not even finished using the
Trial products.

I was unable to purchase a birthday gift for my son because of the
unauthorised charge that was placed on my credit card in May.

Guthy Renker finally responded to say they have cancelled my account and will refund me for the last package
sent. I am and looking out to see if they follow through it this promise.

An absolute JOKE! I ordered a promotion pack with the idea of trying the products and if I liked it then I would possibly order some more. Four weeks later I have a £65.92 bill on my card statement. I'm shocked as I did not budget for this. I have tried to ring the company Guthy Renker, sent emails and live chat on their website all pointless. I then have to take a dispute out with pay pal as an un authorised payment.
When I purchased the products with Guthy Renker, no where does it say you are signing upto a monthly subscription. I wouldn't rate the products anyway and they are absolutely not worth the money. MY ADVICE TO ANYONE IS STAY AWAY FROM GUTHY RENKER, MONEY GRABBING COMPANY WITH NO MORALS.

Guthy-Renker Closed my Account and the Billed me anyway

Mistakes DO happen, however, if you called to cancel your account but still had payments remaining on your last package, the payments are still due untill you return the products. Cancelling your membership does not cancel all owed payments, just future shipments and the payments for them.

Guthy-Renker contracts

For the Wen Haircare system they stated that you would get more product every 60 days so I assumed I had 60 days to cancel. When I was billed after 30 days I called to see what was going on and they clarified that the first order arrives after 30 days and then every 60 after that. I have had problems in the past with Guthy Renker and automatic billing- I have cancelled and they have continued to bill and send. You have to wait weeks for a refund because they charge you when they mail the product so they can't refund since "they've already sent the product" I find their consumer practices completely faulty and personally, I think they are Sharks. Any product that interests me I now order through a different retailer so I can avoid the SHARKS at Guthy Renker.

Guthy-Renker Charged but not delivered

I called Guthy Renker last fall about a beauty product from Cindy Crawford that they had on an infomercial. I ordered it and of course gave my credit card information. After 3 or 4 weeks I called back because I had not received my products. The customer service informed me that the order had not been processed because the credit card information had been wrong. I decided that I would not reorder and just let it go. A month later I saw a charge from Guthy REnker and then a credit from Guthy Renker. However, the amounts were not the same. Guess which one was higher! I have since been in contact with them several times by phone and email insisting that they reimburse me the difference. They answered that they couldn't find my file or information. How is this possible? They don't reply to my emails anymore. It is not alot of money .. from what I can recall, about 10$. It is the principal of the matter. I just want people to be aware that this is not a company that you want to do business with.

Guthy-Renker you get products you didnt order

you buy shampoo for $38 from TV Ad---you tell them you don't want any other items coming...just this one pruchase---they automatically enroll you in membership to get $105 of shampoo sent to you every month! AVOID THEM!

Guthy-Renker Disgusting Service

I am so disgusted with this service, I have been charged for my prodcut on the 24th of Sept and am still waiting for it to arrive. Everytime I called the UK office I got some or the other story from them, and even after waitng for 28 days as per their policy I have still not received my order. I will never recommend it to anyone and now after calling today I was told that I need to send them proof of my bank statement for them to see that payment has gone out from my bank and I am not telling them lies. This is disgusting, really pathetic. Dont they have financial records which will surely sure them that I have paid and the payment has gone from my credit card. They advertise big things on TV for people to get fooled and buy their products but when actual serivce has to be given to customers, they dont really do anything. It is nearly 35 days and I have been charged and not got my order. I should get a refund and compensation from Guthy Renker for this disgusting service.

I am trying to cancel a Sheercover auto delivery. On the page where you fill in your info, it asks for a security code. Unfortunately, They Don't Give You a Security Code! All you see is a question mark. I will try once more, and then I am contacting my state's attorney general's office, the BBB, and my credit card company.

Disgraceful business practice! Even trying to post this complaint has proved difficult! Apparently I don't have enough words to complain. I am truly beyond angry about the amount of time I have had to spend on tryoing to cancel DSheercover!

Do not buy from Guthy Renker, this company's goal is to get your money in anyway they can. I bought Chaz Dean's hair product from Guthy Renker, in their website and invoice that I received did not specifically mentioned "Monthly" delivery which means that they will charge your account monthly. When I tried to cancel the next delivery they told me that they can only cancel after 3 months. I can agree for another month of $37.90 but not additional $ 29.95 for the next 2 more months after that. This is a plain "ROBBERY"! This company should be shut down, they are robbing customers against their will.

I started wen 2 months ago and thru the trial my hair was better than it had ever been. I like to wear my hair down and before using wen I would get big snarles underneath all my hair and when I tried straightening my hair there would always be a little wave left over.

Ater using the trial my snarles went away, I had no static, and my hair never looked more straight. My hair was no where near oily. Then my trial was over within 2 1/2 weeks so while I waited for more I used Pantene.

2 weeks ago I got my 90 day supply and only after two times using wen my hair has never been so oily! It's not thru the day I notice it start to get oily, it is when I am blow drying! I want to continue using Wen but I'm not going to be able to unless I find out how to prevent this.

I too had the same issue occur when I started using the Wen products. After using Sweet Almond Mint, I realized I was using the wrong products for my hair type (oily) and switched to the Cucumber Aloe and have never been so happy in my life. I would highly advise trying other formulas, even if you don't get them as a club member or even through GRC... chazdean.com is always an option as well... and they don't auto ship (if that's one of your concerns ;) )

Guthy-Renker Unauthorized charges

We ordered Wen online after we saw their infomercial on TV, and **specifically declined the auto-ordering program** Got the product, and didn't care for it. We were shocked to see a second charge for this stuff on our credit card the following month. Then a third - we figured that would be it and we'd chalk it up to a bad decision to buy this lousy product. BUT then after the 3rd month - it started all over again with another 1 of 3 charge.(where they charge you payment #1, payment #2, etc each month) We immediately called and said STOP - and told them we had originally told you we did not want the auto-ordering program.

They are doing whatever they want - not sure if 'even legal. They refuse to cancel anything until we return the product - so far they have got $140 out of us for an original $29.95 one time, one product, order (we thought we were making)

BEWARE, don't order ANYTHING from Guthy-Renker, we had the SAME exact problem with them regarding another product ordered from another infomercial - re a rip-off - apparently this is how they do business - YOU'VE been warned.

Guthy-Renker Scam

I too ordered the hair product online. I never authorize automatic shipping but received their shipment. Called and cancelled but they won't refund the shipping of $7.95. I'm calling my credit card company and let them deal with it. I'll get my money back one way or another. Lucky for me I still have time to return my initial order and get the $29.95 back. Their product left my hair flat and oily. With short hair it is not the product to use. Of course they show women with long, thick hair on all their commercials. I guess I need different hair. I would never advise anyone to use their products.

It dries my skin, rubs off easily and only lasts for 4-5 hours at the most. The powder can be quite messy. The infomercial claims it looks natural and feels weightless, but I found it to be quite the opposite. My skin still looked like I was wearing make-up.

It also claims it can cover birthmarks etc, but mine were definitely still noticeable even after using this make-up.

Perhaps Sheer Cover works for other people but I was not impressed with it, after all their promises on the TV! It also took ages to finally arrive.

I recommend you buy a long-lasting concealer or foundation (such as Revlon's Colourstay), at least it lasts longer.

Continually send product without permission and bill customer for it even after they have been told not to. I have recd products from them and told them I didn't want them. Not to bother me for payment as I wasn't going to pay for it and still insist that I return the merchandise with a prepaid postage they will send to me. I don't believe that a customer should be treated that way. I told them when I get low and or run out I would maybe reorder but they won't listen. So should one have to return the merchandise and be sent out of their way because they refuse to not stop your orders. How can I stop them? This the SheerCover company. They do not have a payonline option without giving your Credit Card Nbr like most places and they do't even show what your amount owed is online. Please put advice on comment

Guthy-Renker False instalment plan and order/delivery

After several calls and being put on hold several times for 3 consecutive days, I finally got one person from this company who promised to call me back but failed to do so.

All I wanted was to get the Returns Authorisation Number and post back the item which I did not order for but was sent to me on 14/05 and to cancel the instalment plan which I did not request for but was put on the invoice as well.

I only wanted the initial order on 02/04 which I have since paid for and not anymore.

I will appreciate it if I get a refund and my credit card is credited to that effect and also not charged anymore.

Guthy-Renker Scam and disappointed!

The Guthy Renker vitamins I received through a sheer cover order. Because it was my first order using a card over the phone I didn't realize that they charge you five dollars to try them, but they continue to send them only this time charging $33. Then another charge showed up on my account a month after I received the vitamins. Today I called and canceled. I told the lady who spoke to me that I was sending the unopened box back and I didn't want to be sent any more. I had better get my money back. Its enough of a problem having to pay money and time to send it back. Also just to make sure (because of all the similar complaints) i am going to decline any further charges from that company to my account.

One more thing I would like to add is that I was greatly disappointed with the product. I can go to a local store and purchase the same vitamins and minerals for less and I have!

Holy crud I got told I knew about it already in my first email from them. Laugh my butt off! I only have one email from them concerning vitamins. It is basically a reciept for a free who back up FREE 30 day supply. I decided no and canceled my order in March 2011. O they are very nice and very well trained. Not one word was spoken when I canceled that this was a 3 part payment. I would have had a fit! Instead they choose to quietly just not mention it at all. Like it will never come up again and I won't notice the money next month. I called today April 2011 and was very politely told it was a 3 part payment and yes it was canceled but she could not stop it nor could she reimburse me unless I sent it back and also that they would take out the last payment next month no matter what I said. I read all the bad reviews on this but when I cancelled after my 30 day trial I thought it was a breeze and thought they must have fixed their issues. Please if you are reading this don't take they are FRAUDS! This is a scam and the better business bureau needs to get off their lazy bums and earn their paycheck by getting rid of these jerks. They don't care and for some reason they think they can take your money noatter what you say and since they arent shut down then apparently they can.

SCAM! SCAM! SCAM! I am currently battling Gunthy-Renker Nutrition for relentless shipments of their Vita Power Pro Vitamins. It all started in July 2007 when I ordered a $2.99 30-day trial of their vitamins with an order of Proactiv. BIG MISTAKE! I had used Proactiv in the past, and I had always had a good experience with Gunthy-Renker, so I trusted that I could try (and cancel) their vitamins if I did not like them. WRONG!

At the end of the 30 day trial, I began to receive unwanted shipments every other month of a 60-day supply of vitamins I didn't even order. For this they still charge my credit card every month for $33.94...and it is now March 2008.

First, I tried to cancel via email through Gunthy-Renker Proactiv...the same company/division from whom I had ordered them. But wait, ITS NOT THAT SIMPLE. You cannot do this. To cancel, allegedly all you need to do is contact Gunthy-Renker Nutrition at [protected]. THIS IS NOT TRUE!

I have called twice, emailed four times (2 emails have been returned for failed delivery--hmmm?), been called a liar, told that they have never received any of my returned shipments, told they have no record of my contact with them, then told that-wait-I called them to cancel on 2/28/08 (I didn't), then told that perhaps I emailed them on that date (I didn't), told that they (?) took over this company (?) 3 weeks ago and that unfortunately the last company (?) did not handle returns very well...

All this to be told that I WILL NOT RECEIVE the $169.70 owed me for my returned shipments because I failed to get a "proof of mailing certificate" from the post office each time I refused them...because they have no record of my correspondence with them...because I do not know the name of the person with whom I spoke in January.

In the end, Janie #134 (a supervisor), would not give me more than the first name of her supervisor (Jessica) who she expects me to trust will call me. I wonder...will she also call me a liar and refuse to credit me for products I have mailed back unopened?

MY SUGGESTION: DO NOT BUY ADD-ONS from GUNTHY-RENKER . . . and NEVER BUY GUNTHY-RENKER NUTRITION PRODUCTS! They will steal your hard-earned $$$$$

The same thing happened to me. I got suckered by the $5 box introductory offer, then 3 weeks later they charged me $60 for a 2 month supply, when they stated that they would charge my card every 2 months. They charged my card the day before Christmas and when i called them they said that it was already shipped and I would have to ship them back when I received them. I send them back like a month ago and I still haven't received a refund. On top of it all they charged my card an additional $60, i called them and they said that they werent sending another box and they havent but they still owe me $120. I really don't think I will get a refund and I will have to dispute this with my bank. What a scam!

Guthy-Renker vita clear dietary supplement

I ordered Proactive Solution online after seeing their informercial. I requested they bill my credit card after each shipment. However, they also send a product called Vita Clear Dietary Supplement which I did not order. Then they charged my credit card for it as well - $33.94. After checking into this, I found I wasn't the only person they have scammed in this way. I have sent e-mails to both Proactiv.com and Guthy Renker customer service and have called Proactive customer service to register a complaint and have my services discontinued. I hope they are no longer able to scam other innocent people in the same way they scammed me. They should be made to refund anyone's money they did this too and issue a letter of apology for their deceptive practices.

I got the free vitamins and then cancelled. I was sent another box and charged 2 payments of $32 after I had cancelled. I called and they refunded my money less shipping. They said there were two pages on the agreement and it says shipping never refunded. Will never order either item again!

I started using Proactiv in June 2005 to treat my mild acne. Over the next several months of using Proactiv, I suffered severe outbreaks of skin lesions that I had never experienced before using the product. When inquiring about these severe outbreaks, Guthy-Renker's unlicensed medical support representatives "consistently" advised me to continue using Proactiv, "You're just experiencing the 'normal' breakout period. Results vary by person, some see results as little as two weeks, others don't see results until a few months later. So continue to use the product and your skin will get better." In fact, even a Proactiv representative at the Proactiv Kiosk Queen Center Mall in New York, looked at my face and said exactly the same as the phone representatives. When they learned that the product caused further injuries after the third month or the end of the program, a Guthy-Renker representative said, "You have sensitive skin. You are probably allergic to the benzoyl peroxide ingredient. We do have another kit called the Gentle Formula for sensitive skin. I will rush you this product and it will work for you."

With no improvements to my condition, in late November 2005, I stopped using Proactiv Solution. Despite the advice given to me by Proactiv representatives to continue treatment with Proactiv, I sought the professional care of a dermatologist to treat the severe outbreak of skin lesions. After consulting with the dermatologist, I was prescribed a costly and powerful medication, which helped improve my condition. He also had to inject each of the pimples caused by Proactiv, which was quite painful. However, I have been left with permanent pit-scarring and skin discoloration on my face as a result of the irritation caused by my prior use of Proactiv Solution. I will need to have an expensive laser surgery procedure to reduce this skin discoloration with no guarantee that the damage can be reversed.

After watching numerous infomercials where celebrities would endorse a product, I never once questioned if these products were actually used by them. Yet, after I watched the infomercials for Proactiv Solution, it seemed like the celebrities not only used the product, they praised its ability to clear the skin of blemishes. When I was experiencing mild acne, I had high hopes for Proactiv, and the claims that the celebrities, and the company made. As you have read, the results were not favorable; not only was Proactiv ineffective, but it also caused permanent scarring, short term anguish and depression. This could have been avoided by knowledgeable representatives advising me to stop using the product and consult with a professional dermatologist. The issue is NOT whether Proactiv works or not, but what matters is the lack of accountability taken by the manufacturer and its affiliates; and also the advice given to me by the Proactiv reps to continue using the product despite the outbreaks that I reported. I urge anyone considering the use of this product to carefully re-evaluate their decision, and perhaps prevent a lifetime of pain and embarrassment as the result of using "The Answer for Acne."

I am hoping to make it to the news media on a national level. If anyone can help in anyway, please let me know.

I ordered this Perricone cream one time and paid $76. for it Paypal. Now I got a notice from Paypal that they want to authorize another payment of $104 when I did not order one more thing. Only used the first cream once and saw no difference so no way would I order more already and especially not for nearly $30 more!

I feel bad for this lady but it is at ones own risk to try any product. All products are not for everyone. It is the risk you take. I use proactive as well as my sister and it works great for us both. It is not a bad product, it just did not work for her. There is no guarantee that the product will work for all people. As for the customer service, it is not all their fault either. She should have taken responsibility to stop the use of the product if she knew it was damaging her skin. It is not a national story problem She should take the blame also. Its your face, you knew you were continuing to damage it.
