Great Clips termination

In febuaury 2010 I Erica Bass put in my request off days for the month of May.Ms. Tammy Miller (MY SUPERVISOR) and I Always discuss upcoming events, scheduals and even personal issues. I needed to either be off or be out by 1pm on may30th. (I lived approximately 35 min. from the salon) I was sure to be the first to submit my request. In april 2010 I sat wit Ms. Tammy Miller and we discussed the schedualing for the month of may. Tammy and I decided THAT I WOULD WORK 10AM TO 1PM. The month of may came and I was not worried because Tammy and I had already discussed and taken care of my schedual. Three days prior to may 30th Tammy finally posted the schedual. The schedual stated that on the 30th I were to work 10am to 5pm, and there were still 2 other stylist availiable to schedual for that shift (Diana, Dana). Yet she was busy and everytime I attempted to contact her, she was not availiable. On sat. may 29th I spoke to Tammy about the schedual, she explained to me that the reason 10 to 5 was there because a former employee (Gloria) had quit. I then told Tammy that I was still positively sure I would not be available. Tammy said " Ok honey, just leave the schedual as is, DON'T WORRY, and I will take care of it and go ahead!" That was the last I heard from Tammy. On may30th around 11am, only 2hours away from my shift ending, I walk to the breakroom and my co-worker Lisa stated that Tammy said I have to stay til 5pm because she couldnt come to the salon, and if i had any QUESTIONS to call her. For (ONE) Tammy told me by mouth NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT! (TWO), I DID NOT HERE FROM TAMMY NOR MY MANAGER, I WAS TOLD BY LISA, (THREE) TAMMY HAS STATED TO MORE THAN ONE STYLIST AND RECEPTIONIST NOT TO LISTEN TO LISA, (FOUR) TAMMY WAS NOT ABLE TO MANAGE THE SITUATION ON HER OWN, SHE DEFINATELY HAD TO CONSULT LISA (A NORMAL EMPLOYEE) TO MAKE A DECISION TO TERMINATE ME. So i continued my daily duties and finished my shift. On sun. may31st (MEMORIAL DAY) I came in to wrk at 8:38am and immediately started completing my duties and set up my station for the work shift. I did one haircut and the was no wait time so I went to the back and started folding clean towels. Mr. Carl Smith (THE FRANCHISEE) came in as usual, and said "Morning!" and that was normal. I finsh the towels and started the capes and the door bell went off so I was checking to see if there was a customer waiting. As i open the door Mr. Carl and I almost bumped into eachother and Tammy was behind him. Tammy asked that i come speak to her a second. Tammy stated that I should have stayed on the 30th til 5pm because the salon lost 6 customers. And that "Lisa said that I said I was probably going to be fired." THAT WAS TAMMY'S DEFENSE AND ONLY REASON TO FIRE ME!( I WAS THEN ASKED TO PLEASE SIGN THE TERMINATION FORM) So she then said I was terminated. There has been Sundays before that we were extra busy and it was only for of us working hard from open to close. Also (TAMMY HAD ALREADY TOLD ME NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT).So I did as told by Tammy's mouth and did not worry about it. I WAS TREATED AS ROSA PARKS IN THE OLD DAYS ONLY BECAUSE I STOOD UP FOR MY RIGHTS. THIS IS TOTAL INVIOLATION TO MY RIGHTS AS AN EMPLOYEE. I HAVE A 7 YEAR OLD SON @ HOME, HIS FATHER PAST EARLY LAST YEAR, SO HIS GRANDMA (MY MOM) HELPS ME WITH HIM BUT SHE IS IN A REHABILITAION CENTER FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE DUE TO SEPSIS INFECTION. MY RENT IS DUE IN EXACTLY TWO DAYS. AND NOW I HAVE TO SEARCH FOR EMPLOYEMENT. (THIS HAS BEEN A HEADACHE, STRESSFUL, AND HARRASSMENT AS A THREAT TO MY HOUSEHOLD) THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT RIGHT!

What in the world was so important on May 30th that was worth losing your job over? Do you not understand that when you work in a salon, business (aka customers) take priority over your personal life? If your rent was due in two days and you have a child to support single handedly and whatever other issues you are whining about, you could have worked a measley 4 extra hours. Case closed.

Great Clips screwed up my son's hair

°My 14 year old son has been growing his hair out for almost a year. It looks good but he needed it trimmed just a bit. He actually asked to get a trim so off we go. We had recently moved so I thought I would try the Great Clips down the street as a matter of convenience plus I was in a major hurry that day. We get there (Canyon Park store) and Jeff, one of the stylists takes him back. I go back with him at first and explain to Jeff that he likes his hair long but wants a little of the weight taken off and slightly trimmed. I go to the waiting area.

A little while later my son comes out Looking almost like Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber! I say, "that's a lot shorter than we wanted" and he just said it was a nice neat haircut and it looked good. WTF? Needless to say, my kid was pissed (remember...he is 14 AND just started a new school). We got out to the car and I notice he still has a several hairs that are way long in the front (obviously missed) his neck is cut up from the clippers, it's all uneven and choppy and it wasn't even washed. I was in a major hurry and unfortunately had to go.

Called our usual gal from the car and she said to bring him in. I had a lot do that day and couldn't go for several hours so my kid wore a hood the entire time we were out. I felt terrible. When we got to Hairmasters she couldn't believe what a butcher job they had done on him. In fact, all the girls at the place were surprised at how bad it looked. Well, she fixed it...and it's really short now but at least looks good.

Tried to do something simple and get my kid a haircut and it turned into a huge ordeal, cost me twice what it should have and took three times longer than it should have. Kinda tough when wasting time or money is not my thing.

I did not go back to that store and I definitely won't. I'm sure instead of a refund they will offer to "fix" it. No thanks. I have however written to their corporate office and issued my complaint. Will I get a response or even an acknowledgement? who knows but at least I feel better.

Lesson learned...Once you find a service provider who takes pride in their work and delivers quality...stick with `em. Shortcuts will get you nowhere.

I worked for Great Clips for over a year before I finally quit. The only reason I had stayed so long was because of my clientel I had built up. I hate bad mouthing a salon because I have been a stylist for 10 years and know it is not really a whole salon, more like one or two bad apples. However, I will agree that at Great Clips, they seem to care more about the quantity rather than the quality of their work. There were many days when i could not go on a break because we had people waiting. Which remember, 8 hours on your feet cutting hair nonstop... trust me a break is needed! I hate to admit that I myself a lot of the times at the end of the day could care less how a customer would walk out because I was sooo dang tired. No excuse I know... And also to add, while I was there they seemed to employ people who recieved so many complaints and still did nothing to correct either their behavior or their services. It's a shame that a company lets this happen so frequently and still does nothing to fix the problems. It almost kills me to say this but ... sometimes its true, you really do get what you pay for... and unfortunately with Great Clips it ain't much.

Great Clips aweful haircut

I had a haircut at great clips, milestone centre, Maryland-20876. Lady named Margrita cut my hair and it was aweful that nobody could fix it. She was so rude to me and I discovered that she is use to behave like this with every customers and several people had an issue with her. When I complained she was not sorry for anything and insted told me that never get haircut from me.! I tried to reach manager but she is not available on phone and nobody is giving me her other contact details or e-mail address and telling me that i should keep calling to trace her as if i don't have anyother work. This is rediculous and i am never going to have haircut at any great clips centre.

Great Clips very uneven poor haircut

Beware "Great Clips" in Calgary, Canada (Crowfoot-Ashley) provide me with the worst haircut in the past 50 years!.Uneven and improper together with very poor customer service. Had to get pay another outfit to fix the "Great Clips" haircut so that I would have an EVEN haircut(on both sides). The person who re cut my hair at another store noticed it was unevenly cut and I looked ridiculous with a "Great Clips" haircut. Store managers did not care. Very poor customer service attitude.

Great Clips manager

I went to Great Clips for the first time ever, to have the ends of my hair clipped. For the convienance, I also had my two year old sons hair cut. There were three women inside of the store, however only two greeted us. One of the ladies immediately went to the back of the store. My information was put into the system and one lady had washed my hair. By the time she had finished one of the ladies had left the store. The lady who was left, by default, had to cut my son's hair. She then asked me had did I want his hair cut. I told her to give him a shape up and cut his hair low. She then said "this is not a barber shop and we don't know how to cut his hair." I thought it was strange that she had made that comment, but I did let her cut his hair. While I was still getting my ends cut, the young lady had me pay for our services. The older lady had then finished my son's hair cut. I was extremely surprised at how poorly of a job she had done. His hair cut was uneven all over and his shape up was not even done. When I approached the lady about it she was cutting someone else hair and had one waiting. She told me that was anything she could do and that I could come back the next day and have someone else cut his hair. She was unprofessional, inconsiderate, and rude. I asked the other lady would had cut my hair to recut my son hair she told me that I had to let the other woman cut it. I told her that I wanted to speak to the manager and found out that the lady who had been so rude was the manager. I have not went back to any Great Clips since that incident, nor will I return to that location. On the same day I had to go to another place to have my son's hair corrected. I was out a total of $30 for a two year old to have his hair cut. I want something to be done immediately about this manager. I not recommend anyone to that store if she is not reprimanded for her actions.

I am sorry for that expierence, the way that should have been handled is they should have gone ahead and took you back and usually in the store some stylist are better at updos than others (which is common) if the client had to wait they should have been given the oppurtunity to look at some books while they wait and then when they took you back then in conversation let them know that appointments for updo's are better so you can usually get right in and not have to wait that is for your convienence and give them a card with my name on it so they can call ahead so next time you wont be hassled that is how I would have handled it as a rule of thumb it does go down the list for clients and everyone should be trained in updo's unless they are a barber.

You took your son to a place called "Great Clips" thats like taking my dead grandmother to a funeral home called "Awesome Holes in The Ground Where We Put Nana" Why don't you bring him to a barber shop next time. A nice mom and pop place. Become a regular customer and bring money back to "Main Street" instead of into a company.

Great Clips hairstylist done wrong

I was hired on at granite city great clips and found out they had a staff that were all drug user, when you ask if great clips drug test there staff you found out they don't, and birds in a feather flock together i was terminated, because i know that 21 years of cutting hair I'm a excellent stylist clean and sober and bow my head and pray to Jesus and not a pot plant.I felt like i was in high school, the professionalism of the staff was awful and all staff expect myself should have fired because of the drug used among them.I WAS LET GO SO THEY WOUDNT BE FOUND OUT AND I WILL NOT LET GO OF THIS BECAUSE ITS NOT RIGHT TO FIRE SOMEONE ON FALSE PRETENSE TO SAVE A DRUG ADDICT.

I don't know you at all but keep your head up and don't get tired of doing the right thing. Those things go on in every Great Clips. I left a store that was just like what you described and they always let go of the good people. I'm going through something now in a totally different franchise. They are just plain firing and writing up people for petty things. But I know my God has greater plans for me...and you also.

Thanks for sharing :-)

Great Clips the worst company to work for

I have worked for Great Clips for two years. There are two shops in winchester there is winchester station and stonewall plaza I worked at both and but the worst one is wichester station. The new owners came in last year and took all of the stylist bennifits away and they are very rude I worked with one girl there on a saturaday and she rufused clients and so I had to do them not Complaining.they are VERY UNPROMISEING and they try to blam who ever they can if something goes wrong.VERY RUDE stylist and Manager.I was basicly a assistant manager and the manager was NEVER there so guess who had to cover. And WHOS RESPONSIBILITY IS IT TO COVER WHEN SOMEONE CALLS OUT THE MANAGER RIGHT.WRONG I DID IT.I hardly ever called in sick and as soon as i walked in the door the next day my manager would be yelling at me the WHOLE time. Iwas there. If u are sick and in the hospital u better have a doctors excuse or oterwise you are fired same if you go to the doctor.Well how many times have other stylist come in without a doctors note this was only for me none of the other stylist.I AM SOOOOOO SICK OF THIS COMPANY AND I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN THERE AGAIN.

Great Clips employee

Wow! Glad to see complaints from other stylists on here! This company sux! Only numbers matter, creativity is punished, scheduling is a nightmare! Blackout times during all holidays when you would want to see friends and family. Benefits are so ridiculous they're close to non-existent! I know, lets get a bunch of talented people together and tell them they have to all cut the EXACT same way and do each haircut in 13-17 minutes no variations no exceptions you make no money crappy tips dirty customers and a owner who only cares about money and not about the employees Well, if you treat you employees like crap, then you will end up with nothing but crappy employees! BON VOYAGE assheads! you can have all the dirty nasty people i will be working in a place that supports my creative effort and allows me to spend the time I need with each client to ensure they get the cut they want! ewww so glad that's over with!

I worked for Great Clips for many years. I recently returned to work for them so I definitely know that the franchisee owner makes a big difference when it comes to the work environment. The manager (Patrice Newsome) I worked for along with a co worker would steal time from the clock and wouldn't do anything. The manager could not even do the simplest task of doing the schedule on time. This lead to an argument we had because I asked her to be professional and put out the schedule at least a week ahead not the day prior. She got mad and therefore proceeded to "punish" me by not putting me to work on weekends. This didn't bother me so much but the co worker (Loria Hadnott) took it upon herself to put me back on weekends just because she saw that it really didn't bother me. A complete lack of maturity and professionalism. Loria clocks Patrice in before she arrives even if she is late for hours. Patrice comes in late all the time, doesn't work mornings, and doesn't even call in to say she is not coming to work that day. O and don't let it be the time of the month because she calls in just because she has cramps that day. She does this every month... hello its a full salon of women if we all did this no1 would go to work. I hope the owner sees this so he can see how both of them are stealing money from him. Not to mention the horrible way they are managing the salon. I worked at the Telfair- Sugarland, TX location.

I am a stylist for great clips, I have 15 years Experience and have worked full service salons Most of my career. My haircut time used to be 45 min and I now only 15 min I have not changed my cutting technique however the time has become more because all I do is haircuts. In fact I feel more experienced now I'm cutting than I ever have before because I'm doing 18 to 25 haircuts a day. Its never the company only the stylist a bad cut comes from the stylist themselves not the salon. I give great haircuts in a 15 min time period which also includes checking the haircut. Helpful tip watch the stylist cut before you get your haircut

I too was just fired for not being able to complete the 13 to 17 minute haircut time, The night before my new co worker came in reeking of pot. She still has her job because she is fast. I was told to use a timer at my station, at first embarrassed, then the pressure got so bad from my manager, I didnt care, when my clients asked "whats the timer for" ? I just started telling them I have to cut your hair in 13 to 17 minutes so just shut up and dont ask for anything extra after Iam done. Basically I quit caring if I still wanted a job. CHOP SHOP, is the only word to describe this company, People that come in for 50.00 service for 13.99 actually get what they deserve. I have had women that obviously need to go back outside and read the sign of the where they just stepped foot into. Rude customers, and greeding owners go hand in hand. Greeding penny pinching ###s, Karma baby. I cant stand it when Men that dont have any experience in the industry buy beauty schools, or salon franchise like these, obviously have control issues over women. wimps!

Great Clips improper behaivor stealing miss use of company time

there is some bad work ethic going on at creighton crossing mall as a ex employee i have seen enough to come up the idea to quit. im to perfesional to be part of anything like that, employees charging customers haircuts as necktrims, doing complete services and only charging customers for a cut, at times there my be a full lobby and two or three girls choose to then smoke a cigerett and they will do it at same time me being puert rican have been treat so badly me and two employees names starting with initials k and d being the other male work haird but when the manager leaves all hells breaks loose, a, a, jbeing the three girls leave on companies time sometimes for 20min to 35min without clocking out ive seen at times they will go to go to wendys and a styles by letter a that sits first station she went out and came back a hour and half later and then clocked out thats stealing. the manager is a great manager but all this happens when hes not there and the other styles
i call k works double hard because the others slack off alot and what maid me quit was these three girls plus oler lady letter d always refuse to cut black people hair they alway put them as request and disapear to the break room those customers get so upset, thats not good buisness, i have build so much clients in the little ive been there and i would like to go back but not with whats going on. whats sad is k being female styles and d being the manager are excellent people and had to leave them in that madness...this for the owner name ms dajani ...i didnt want to leave...

Great Clips unprofessional manager and stylist

In Mokena, IL on Saturday, January 3rd my husband got his haircut by Ally and she told him he has a 5 finger forehead because he is balding. She thought it was hilarious & so did the manager Kristy. He was appalled and will never go in there again, and we will tell all of our friends. Also, my friend told me your manager Kristy always discounts her whole family without coupons. Just thought you'd like to know what kind of staff you have. She also told me that when her husband went in your salon, Ally cut his hair and instead of being professional, all she did was flirt and ask him if she could go with him on his vacation. You should clean up the mess over there!

Hey JagD54 I hope you get this...
Please go to the Great clips website and email or call the corporate office. You can stay anonymous if you like. Being a former employee of this company, thats the only thing the owners fear is a call from corporate. Otherwise they could care less. Thats the only time they will take action.
I would suggest that pretty much to everybody who has had a bad haircut or bad service to call the corporate office and tell the the location of the store and what exactly happend.

Good luck

Great Clips worst haircut ever

Went in for a basic guy's haircut Thursday Dec. 10, 2009 at the Oshawa East location of Great Clips. This has got to be the worst haircut I've ever had, and I don't think I'm all that discerning; maybe I've just been very lucky over the years. Mismatching all over the head except where they sheared with clippers. I'd guess that if your cut can be accomplished by using only clippers, you're probably all right. But if scissors and comb are involved, don't bother with this place. The price is low, but then so is the quality.

Great Clips is there anything positive I can say?

Wow as I was reading other people's complaints, I was thrilled to see that there were some from fellow hair stylists.
I have been working at great clips for nearly a year now. Mostly because I had been layed off from another job and they were the first to respond to a hurried, desperate application.
When I went in for my interview, I was shocked how they did not even check my references and were not interested in how long I had been a cosmetologist. I was told that I would not have a set schedule EVER and that my hours would vary from week to week, that you did not receive sick days or holiday/vacation time until 90 days of my hire date. But that was nothing compared to what I was told next.
The manager at the time told me that I would be sent to a great clips academy where I would learn how to cut hair. Excuse me? I have been a stylist for six years now...I damn well better know how to cut hair. But she told me I had to go to this place, which was an hour drive, and receive no gas money or compensation AT ALL. The training was a joke. I didn't learn a thing from it, except for the fact that I had to follow a million rules and not use my creativity.
Since that fateful day that I accepted the job it has been nothing but a struggle. I get no respect as a stylist and am often referred to as a barber instead. I have gotten repremanded numurous times for having too many request customers, seeing as they want you to remain nameless and in sync with the other stylists. Almost a cult feel. I recently went down to part time so hopefully they would be more leanient with my schedule, but no such luck. It's impossible to request time off, and they seem to have the options to randomly change your schedule mid-week apparently. I thought that was against some kind of policy?
What's worse is the current manager seemed to be plucked out of the sky. She has no idea what she's doing and keeps her own schedule, while the rest of u are suffering through her idiocricy.
I am seeking out other employment...
People say that you can get a lot of experience by working for great clips. Yeah, they teach you to be like everyone else for very little pay with an uncaring manager and cheap customers. Would you rather spend 12 bucks on a haircut that is half-assed(due to the fact that we literally have to do haircuts that fit into a 13-17 minute timeframe)or spend 24 and have a haircut that is not rushed, a pleasant stylist, a shampoo that is part of the service, I could go on and on. I am worth more than this and would love to be respected as an artist. Not just some random quick-shearing stylist who works at a chop shop. Thank you all for reading this!

I am sorry you feel that way I worked for Great Clips 15 years until I became ill and I was a manager who orientated my stylist pretty well our franchise even had a orientation book that explained every benefit they do not send you for retraining you are suppose to learn that in your schooling what they do explain and go over is a guide and structure, because everyone has there own creativity some better than others they also teach you customer service and some people have that quality and some dont, it sounds to me you have taken some things personally that can effect the way you are as a employee, if you put as much effort into your work as you did on this complaint then you might help direct the staff and lead by example, it does work and managers do need the help work is what you make it.

Great Clips never again

The shop in Kenmore, Washington is the pits. Do not expect them to have any talent or listen to you. The stylist began by asking me a bunch of personal questions, then she started cutting, way shorter than what I asked for, and gave me a boring, dated bob style that is what I told them I did not want. Very unflattering, really embarrassing. A "repair" cut was offered, but the change was so subtle as to make no real difference. The second stylist, though kind, could not improve it. That would have taken some daring, which she did not have. Then, they denied my request for one more chance to improve it, and gave me the refund of 7.99. Hey, what can you expect? NEVER AGAIN will I set foot in a one of those chop shops, because that is what they are--chop shops.

I also worked for Great Clips in OR. Some Joe Blow off the street decided he wanted to be an owner. I have been in this business for 21 yrs and feel that I am a caring and devoted stylist. After awhile I became manager (still have figured out why i wanted to be one), someone was stealing the money and we also had some employees that were hired before I became manager. I would say 3 of the 10 employees there were honest and cared about their client. The other one were young, inexperienced or had major mental or drug problems. When I had positive proof of people doing the owner wrong, i would discuss w/the owner about terminating them and why. He would say alright. So I would hardly get sleep that night and thought about what I was going to say. I am a caring and senistive person and hate hurting anyone. So having to fire someone really took a toll on me. Arriving @ work the next morning, all geared up to do part of my job that I hated! The owner would call and say to wait until he arrived. When he arrived, he would tell me that we are too busy to fire that person. Heaven help me, why he would do this. Especially when I knew who was doing what! It cost more to keep them than to fire them because we are a state that does not have to give a reason why they are firing you. Then I got carpal tunnel in both wrists and the owner never made a report. I made an appt. then scheduled surgery. He told another employee that if I had the surgeries he was going to fire me before I got back. I wasn't even going to claim workman's comp. Well when I heard he wanted to fire me, I made sure and told him that since he wanted to fire me, I was going to claim WC and I would get in touch with the labor board. So on my first day back getting to cut hair, he made the schedule so it was myself and another stylist on a Sat. and I was working for minimum wage. To say the least, that was my last day there. Never will work for a chop shop where they are only interested in the bottom dollar.

Great Clips butchered my hair 2 times

Both Graceland Shopping Center location and Westerville - Parkview Center location have butchered my hair. In both instances I told them I was growing my hair out - but they did not listen! Graceland Lori cut more than 1/2 off my bangs when I asked for a trim. Westerville Jared - cut the 2+ inches I had grown out the back of my hair off and made it as short as it was when I started growing it out 6 months ago.

In both cases they claimed I didn't use their terminology - but in neigher case did they ask me any clarifying questions.

Both are franchises so I got no help from the corporate headquaters.

Smart style has an exclusive contract with Walmart... Where as Great Clips is normally located AROUND a walmart, not normally in a walmart. Great Clips has nothing to do with the Regis Corp at all..

I recently had a shampoo style at the Great Clips on Cottage Grove Rd in Madison Wisconsin. I was floored when my bill was $31.00. My hair is not even shoulder link and they consider it long. The only thing they did was shampoo and use a round brush. Another stylist maybe did 2 haircuts at $6.99, while I was getting mine done, which would equal $13.98. Why would mine be $31.00.

LOL7654...you are sooo right.
What the hell is wrong with corporate?
I see that GREATCLIPSINC is reading this forum...Hey [censored], read what the stylist are trying to tell you.
They are the ones that need the help. Not the poor fools that are coming in with their 6.99 coupons.
If you would see that the stylist were treated properly, you wouldn't have to be telling the customer to contact corporate.
You would WANT the salons to be making more money for the franchisee right?
More money for corporate too...or is it that you need to justify your job?

Well if you take complaints seriously with clients were does a stylist go with their complaints about this company? That's what i would like to know. I would like to say that corporate needs to wake up and smell the coffee! I have never seen a company take such good care of the needs of a salon owner and not give a hoots about the stylists who make this place.

Great Clips management

I am a loyal customer. I found a beautician several years ago at Tree Cuts and she was wonderful! She was patient with my children and saved my hair from a terrible hair cut. She styled, colored and made it great! Since that day I have stuck with Ruthie! I followed Ruthie from Tree Cuts to Great Clips and have been going to the Great Clips in South Bend for the past couple years just because Ruthie is there. This location is convenient for me. Just yesterday I find out that the management of Great Clips has moved Ruthie out to a location in Granger. This location is not convenient for Ruthie and definitely not for me. This is over 1 hour away from my home. Not sure why any company would treat their associates in such a way. This is not near her home, and did not ask for this location transfer. How many customers will continue to follow her or any other stylist around town? It will cost A LOT in gas money for the much added travel to go out to Granger just to continue to have my hair cut and styled by Ruthie. I will do this in hopes that she will be moved back to a more convenient location for her and her loyal customer base.

Im a stylist at Great clips, and there were many reasons for the switch. Some salons need a little boost and they did what they thought was best for everyone. Upper management can never make everyone happy, no business works that way. I live an hour away for the salons I'm working at right now and I don't mind. The stylist that seem to not get raise are the ones that are not doing there jobs normally. I have worked for the fort Wayne and south bend markets and I would recommend great to anyone.. clips is a great business for girls just out of school since most of the schools in south bend don't teach fade or much passed the basics. Plus great clips bonuses and starting wages are high that any franchise out there.

Great Clips terrible haircut(s)

I got my haircut there by a girl named Amy. I really need not say more, as you can look at the picture, and see why I am here.
This is the second time, and second stylists that has literally "chopped" my hair. The first time, I didn't do as I did this time, (took pictures), but I did complain to the manager, who was really nice (and unfortunately is no longer there. Guess she got tired of dealing with all the complaints.)Anyway, she gave me my money back, and offered to try and fix it. She sat me down and literally looked at my hair and said, "I don't know WHAT he did to your hair, or how I'm even going to fix it." She was at a loss, and eventually, cut it off with as much as she could keep, and told me to come to her, and that she would do my hair till it grew back out to my satisfaction. She also called the manager above her to get him out, and the man was booted out of her store at her request. However, I found out, he was let back by her just as easily as he had been booted by her boss.
Now, she is not there anymore. They have all new people, or at least new to me on this day. Thought I'd give them another shot...and this picture is what I got for taking that chance and listening to the commercial, "walk right in, sit right down, baby let your hair hang down. Relax, you're at Great Clips."
Now, after this great hairstyle, I've gotten my money back, and have dealt with the new manager, STACY. A girl named AMY did this wonderful style to my hair.
I told Stacy that I didn't even want to talk to her, I wanted to talk to HER manager, and explained that I'm not mad, but I WANT ANSWERS as to why I keep walking out with haircuts like this? She told me that the only number she had for her manager was a, (get this) HOME number and she couldn't give it out. A HOME number for a district manager? I'd assume that's what her title is, but who knows. I have yet to hear from her.
That's ok...while she's not answering me, I'm using my time sharing this lovely haircut photo with as many people as I can, and asking them to share their stories, and so on and so on.
I'm done with Great Clips, and hopefully you and your's will be too.

I am a stylist and I understand what you mean, I have to say that you get a fifty fifty chance, Many stylist out there do not give a ### and dl not listen and are very unexperienced. I would ask your friends for recommendations so you knw you will get good service. I would also contact an above manager because that should get her fired and is very unprofessional and immature. Most stylist need to realize its customers first, erghhhhh and I see it all the time, frustrating! sorry this happened to you!

I have never had a problem with Great Clips. I only get my hair cut when they have their $4.99 sale and I even went with a different style than I normally do. I had no bangs and she cut me some side bangs (which are really hard to do on curly hair). Everyone I know raved about my hair, including me. I guess you just had some bad luck. Sorry to hear that

That was a bad cut, but that is the quality that is given when a stylist is pressured to cut hair in 17 min. or less, and productivity has to be within certain amount of minutes at the end of a day. If you keep going to Great Clips hopefully you will find a stylist that is smart enough to wait to check you in that way your not on the clock and the stylist can take the time needed to cut your hair the wright way and work with all your cowlicks and swirls so that at the end of the cut everything is laying nice and even.

Great Clips disgusting service

I had my haircut at the Great Clips on Cobb Parkway in Kennesaw by stylist and store manager Michelle Crillman. Her breath reeked of alcohol, and she spewed out racial slurs during my entire haircut! It was disgusting. Also the store was unkempt, and the chair that I sat in during the haircut was sticky. Also, the receptionist told me after I had complained that Crillman had been arrested for her drinking problem and is currently on parole. Can you believe that this woman is a manager? DISGUSTING. What is wrong with this world?

I would never recommend the store! She should be FIRED.

The first week of August 2015 I went in to get the split ends trimmed off of my very long hair. I told the so called stylist (Lara) three (3) times that all I wanted was to have my split ends trimmed and to have my neck cleaned up. After telling her three (3) times the apparently untrained and uneducated stylist (Lara) gathered my hair in one hand and whacked off my long hair at the neckline. I worked for years to get my hair that length and spent a lot of money keeping it nice. The so called manager of that filthy dump called it miscommunication when it was an act of what I suspect is blatant theft of hair. My advice to anyone, man, woman or child is to never ever do business in that disgusting chop shop.

I had to work with people just like that at Puyallup south hill Great Clips. I hated working there. I was the only moral, experienced professional there. I had been doing hair for 20 years. All my coworkers were young, immoral, bar hopping skanks. I am glad I no longer work there. I didn't fit in there.

WOW! Seriously? Hairgal, you are something! Myself, as well as several others I know have reported issues to Corporate, only to be ignored. That's wonderful you've found an awesome owner to work for, but having been connected to this company for over a decade, and having had contact with others employed in numerous locations, your experience is rare. To claim that it's the fault of employees that their experience is lacking just shows how blessed and sheltered you truly are!

I also work for Great Clips. I think our experiences at Great Clips (or anywhere else for that matter) are greatly dependant on who we work for, not the company itself. I am lucky to work for a wonderful owner and have recently been promoted to manager. I always feel bad when stylists and customers have negative things to say about Great Clips because Great Clips is only as good as the people who work there. If you have stylists who are professional in their attitude, dress, and speaking with each other and customers, the experience will be that much better. If stylists are rude, selfish and disrespectful to each other and customers, than their experience will be negative. It's not the fault of Great Clips as a whole if the stylists are not professional enough unless the franchise and management does nothing to change the environment within the stores. I guess what I am trying to say is take a look at yourself. If you are not doing your part to make your salon what it needs to be for customers and stylists to have a positive experience everytime they enter through those doors, then change you attitude or change your job.

Great Clips service

I have been going to this business for at least 3 years, I have never had any trouble with anyone here. During a recent visit, I was in my military uniform and was given a military discount and placed into the computer as being in the military. I returned for another haircut several months later, I was now retired and not in uniform. I was asked for my phone number and I was pulled up on the computer, the lady told me it would be 30 minutes until I could be seen. During that time, at least 6 or seven other people walked in and were being told it would be fifteen minutes until they could be seen. After at least 1 hour and fifteen minutes of waiting and watching at least 6 other people come in after me and be seen for a haircut; (I am sure they had no appointments they were walk-ins like me), I asked one of ladies "What was the problem and why all these people were being placed in front of me?" She proceeded to look me up in the computer again, and she said someone would be with me in a few minutes, but if I wanted to be ill about it, she would make another lady wait and she would see me now! I was obviously upset at being treated so disrespectfully and it was apparent to me that this establishment had no intention of taking care of me based on whatever information they had on file. I left without getting the service. I am not sure what kind of computer database they have on customers, but it was percieved by me to allow them the ability to provide biased "care" for certain people by the business ownership based on a political or social view of certain people. I believe my military discount status hindered me in recieving service by the people in this business.

This business should be listed as prejudice toward people based on certain views held by the ownership and should be banned from receiving military or government contracts or services. The public should be told about the information they are storing on their customers and how it is used to help the business care or not care, for their customers.

Great Clips rude manager

today, 07/11/09, I visited the Great Clips Hair Salon onRuff Snow referred by a lady I had just met. Her hair cut was cute and I asked her where she got it cut. On my way hom e from a birthday party I stopped in and asked for a hair cut. The lady at the front desk was dressed unprofessionally but I did not think about it at that time. I was assisted by a lady who cut my hair and I really liked it. While paying for my cut a lady was standing beside me purchasing some shampoo. The same lady that was at the counter when I went in was cutting a man's hair at the front chair and rudely came back over to the counter to assist the lady who was helping me and also the lady purchasing the shampoo. I have never heard or seen a person behave so unprofessionally or rudely in a long time. This person also would not smile if it meant her face would crack. Please understand I have worked with the public for many many years and I would not for one minute keep someone who not only embarrassed her employees but also the public. I was going to ask for the manager but found out by asking it was the rude lady. Is there not something you can do to discipline this lady? Surely my complaint is not the only one you have received. If I were your company I would certainly send an unknown member of my staff in to see what was going on. She is very bad for your business. I had never gone to a Great Clips before and believe me, if it were not for the lady that cut my hair, I am sure I would not go in again. I can spend my hard earned money somewhere else. Thank you
