I am looking for advice on how to follow up on a builder that has not met his obligations.

Graham Block from Build Solutions under took to do R300 000 alterations to my home in January 2007.
Unfortunately he doesn't seem to be registered with the NHBR.

He did the majority of the work he promised in the first 6 months, but after receiving final payment has been lax to complete the job.
There is still about R20 000 of work outstanding as well as sud-standard work that I am not happy with (especially roof leaks everywhere).

He is actually my neighbor and everytime I speak to him, he gives a date in the next month that he will complete the job,
but never actually comes and then gives another extended date.
After 25 months of lies I don't know how to handle the situation.

Could you please respond with some advice

many thanks

I rented accommodation from Graham Block. He never fixed any of the broken taps, cupboards and even the exterior door was never able to lock. I am a single person with major health problems and after two years decided to call it quits. Graham promises to return my deposit but never arrives with money. He now refuses to take my calls. I struggle to make ends meet and do not know how I am going to finance my new accommodation as I was relying on this refund to do so.

We hired Graham to do renovations on our house in October 2012. It is now February 2014 and my house is still not complete, a job which was meant to take approximately 4 months! We are at wits end and have finally asked him to leave. On getting new contractors in we have encountered countless shortcuts and sub-standard work. Our plumbing and electrical work all has to redone to get compliance certificates and we've had to outlay more funds to complete the house. All materials that were supposed to be paid for by Graham were not ordered or paid for, which has me questioning what exactly he's done with all our money. He has a terrible attitude and is a compulsive liar and above all there's no accountability or remorse for all the stress he's put us through, financially or mentally. Is there any way at all to resolve this?
I would like this to serve as a warning to anyone thinking of using him as their contractor. Don't take him at face value because he is con man, a liar and a thief.
Any suggestions would be most welcome and appreciated.

I have been trying to figure out a way to solve the exact problem that I have experienced with Graham Block of Build Solutions. He undertook the job of rennovating my home in Sundowner on the 15th April 2011. I paid him the full and final settlement on 18th July 2011.My house is still not completed to date.

I had been referred to by another resident in the complex who Graham had started a year before mine. Graham then started work at my home and never completed this job. While he has been working at my home, he then took on yet another 2 alterations to my knowledge neither of these jobs have been completed either.

Graham continues to advise me that he will be back to complete the job. However, each time he provides me with empty promises as it NEVER happens. I am left in the lurch...with a home that is a total mess and I have no real indication of when this will ever be completed... probably, never.

This job has cost me an excess of R 600 000.00 over and above what I still had to pay electricians to rewire my house as I was never issued a COC by Build Solutions and when I hired a reputable electrician to issue one for me, I was advised that the work was not up to industry standard and had to be redone.

As one of the many examples of an "honest" businessman, I had paid a 50% deposit on the 19th March 2012 to a stone cladding company. Promises were made to collect it on my behalf by Build Solutions. However, 3 months later when I went to collect the materials as it had never happened, I was advised that my deposit was used by Graham to complete another customers job.

I have tried so many ways to try and get this job compeltd by Graham and I have spoken to so many people to try and get advice on the way out, however, I am still stuck in this position and don't know how to solve it.

I hope that someone may read this post and have had similar dealings and offer a resolve.

Any advise would be most welcome!
