GovDeals - No CSR common sense today.

Had been buying with GovDeals and its associated companies (ie, federal military sales) since 2006. Recently, GD has started hosting listings from shady businesses (in our case, towing and veh. repo) who are practicing questionable sales practices (a clear title in most states means either a title in the name of the seller, or court seizure documents), such...

GovDeals Incorrect total of winning bid

Oct 12, 2023

Won an auction for a pickup in Alabama.

My final auto-bid was $2800, listing showed/I checked auto-bid. Bid immediately prior to mine was $2600. No further bids but my $2800. Final price should have been $2625. Buyer's certificate had $2800 plus fees.

This was on the new website platform they just implemented.

I made a call to GovDeals, not productive. Called Corporate, not productive, I was told it was possibly a straight bid item. I've never (in 15 years) had a straight bid item on the site.

I'm awaiting a callback from a corporate supervisor.

I'll update soon.

Seems like an error with the new site. If people are not paying attention, they're paying extra...

PJ

Desired outcome: It's only $175, but it's the principal. Regardless of outcome with GD, I'm probably going to contact the BBB.

GovDeals Product description was not what item was

Item described was a dewatering roll off container.

We had called the administrator for more information as was described.

Administrator said it was as described but they desired to go a different route.

We requested the name on the side of the box as it was the company who built it. The photos they had didn’t show the name or contact.

The city administrator said he didn’t know what the company name was and would ask someone to check on it.

The bidding was closing the next day and received no response from the administrator.

There wasn’t any time to set up an inspection appointment as the item was ending soon.

There was another bidder who bid the item .

When we were able to inspect after we had paid with a bank check we contacted the company that built it. We found that the item was not a dewatering fill off container at all.

The administrator said the holes on the side at the bottom were actually air inlets where air is blown in to compost that is supposed to be put in container.

We want our money returned from Elmore ,Ohio and feel they should also pay for our time as it was wasted because of their mid labeling and false description .

Desired outcome: We want our money returned and compensated for our time dealing with this.

GovDeals anti customer policies

So all customers start out on level one probation. There are three levels you must go through to earn the privilege of doing business with them. They require you to pay by wire transfer which means driving to a bank and waiting for soneone to charge you $30 to pay govdeals the money you are sending them. You can get off of probation early if you send govdeals $1000 and they hold it for 2 months and say they will send it back to you. If you do this they will allow you to oay with your credit card. I just won a bid on a vehicle and after reading all the bs and about the hoops you have to jump through just to oay them I told them they can keep the car and close my accoubt

I dont do business with people that treat their customers like that.

Desired outcome: Educate people about the way people are treated just for trying to do business with govdeals

GovDeals Auction won, but not honored

I was the winning bidder of a trailer I wanted for my business. On 3-18-22 at 5:08 PM, it stated that my bid was pending based upon the seller's approval. At 5:15 PM I was congratulated as the winner. However, on 3-19-22 at 11:54 AM I received an email stating my bid has been declined. On 3-19-22 at 12:09 PM one of the online bidders is bidding on the item again. This online auction has penalties and will go after the bidder if the bidder doesn't follow through with payment. Since I was honored as the winner is there anything that I can do? Had I not received the congratulations for winning the bid. I would understand. Rules and agreements should go both ways.

GovDeals auction off items from the City, State, County, Sheriffs Office, so on and so forth. I'm sure these entities have gotten their lifetime use out of it, so let the items be sold as it should be.

For the longest I thought GovDeals was a reputable company, but with what I'm being told by others. I'm starting to believe them.

Desired outcome: I want the item I purchased.

GovDeals Won action but locked out of account and not sure if can get item.

Won auction at 1:00pm and by 7:00pm I was locked out. I sniped the item. That is waited for the last second to bid. And avoiding any possibility of the company shill bidding. They claim has followed govdeals for years.

Soon after I won that I received an email requesting my drivers license.
I will not be providing my drivers license.

So, does that mean they will not honor the auction results?

I believe that they will honor the auction. But your account is locked until an ID is provided. And Yes, I suspect the company is engaged in shill bidding against potential buyers.

GovDeals refund process designed to manipulate cash flow

In January 2018, I purchased two vehicles belonging to a Florida county through Gov Deals. Because one of them was not in the advertised condition, in fact was not drivable, the county agreed to accept its return. That's where the problems began.

Gov Deals receives and disburses all payments to sellers. All purchases over $5000 require a wire transfer so my money was in Gov Deals bank account within minutes of being transferred and within their allotted window of time.

Gov Deals takes your money but if a situation such as mine arises they make sure to DELAY an already authorized refund as much as possible. First, days go by before it is acknowledged or confirmed that a refund will be issued, in this case that took nearly two weeks.

Next, you are given a choice for reimbursement of either a wire refund or a mailed check. I chose wire and had to provide a voided check as well as instructions. Great, then you are not informed at the time that they request wires from corporate on Wednesdays ONLY. What?

Then, you are told after wondering where your refund is and emailing again, that they mail requests to corporate on Wednesdays and you should have your money by Friday or Monday of the following week.

This is cash flow manipulation, plain and simple!

I was authorized for a refund the 12th of January and will not see my refund until February 2nd or 4th, I hope.

Keep in mind that this only went forward because of my due diligence and constant requests or who knows how long this might have gone on.

My refund is still pending as of this date and we'll see what surprise is sprung on me next.

If you return an item that was not properly described by the seller who accepts the return, BRACE yourself for how long it takes to receive your authorized refund.

In my case, they have been holding my refund payment of over $5700 for 15 days and counting, with a "maybe" of a refund that extends this nightmare for another 5 days.

No matter how on top of the situation you are, they delay and delay, even though they received wired funds as payment.

Never again will I purchase anything through Gov Deals!

GovDeals lack of response/transparency

my account is locked from bidding on assets. several calls to their useless help desk confirm that my account is linked to someone that i do not know nor even ever heard of. They cannot even explain how accounts are linked. How is this possible when i just created it. Same response 'our system does this'. Instructed to email and request review of account. Now several emails later and several calls and weeks have passed with no resolution. This company and their service ... well ... sucks. Terrible

GovDeals Corrupt

Purchased car from City of Fleminsburg, KY. Auction listed it as Working and Running. Got down there and found out battery switched and fuel pump broken - not working. Went back to sheriff and then the Mayor to get money back right then and there with no luck. Other surprises down the road I found.
Make sure you turn car on before handing anybody the money. Don't think a sheriff or mayor of any town are honest in the least.
Called govdeals to report them but they could care less - Got me no where.

GovDeals Not honoring their own rules

I joined this site a while back and have never had any luck with it. now here is the latest scam.listed below is my certificate that i won the item I bid on. I followed paragraph after paragraph of terms, rules, accept this, do this deadlines etc. I paid for the truck, put insurance on the truck and bought temp license for the truck. followed everything they asked and even called gov deals to make sure everything was in order. Now they have my money and they decided to re list the item because it did not meet the reserve. at no time did it have a reserve price listed or a right to refuse any or all bids. they seem to make up the rules as they go. gov deals site talks about integrity, how fast they are growing, even video testimonials about their site. (they where probably paid of or involved in the scams too) How can a company issue you emails and buyers certificates take your money then re list the item before refunding you your money? and all the charges I spent to wire them the money(another one of the rules they have) so here I am no money, no truck and they are selling it again! buyer beware. I called gov deals and they are rude, and said "call an attorney, our attorneys will run you out of money" Please if anyone else has had trouble with this site come forward. I plan on finding every site I can to let the public know about this company and all of its affiliates. Below is listed the certificate they sent me. as usefull and toilet paper. thank you MIchael W edmiston

GovDeals - Does not protect buyers poor customer service

Gov deals acts as an auction site for many municipalities on the east coast and south west. Many of the items we have purchaced have been not as described, or for a better term garbage. If you as a bidder do not pay, govdeals will hold you for 40% of the winning bid and you get nothing! Many of the vehicles we have bought are junk yard material and item...

The problem govdeals.com has is a slow computor system. It state clearly on the aplication process that if you dont get a responce from them or to gain access to the site right away to call the customer service # . I had to do this 3 days after I registered to get access to the site.I have been a happy customer since. The reason for the info is because you...
