'GOT BOOKS' IS A BIG RIPOFF! AND SHOULD BE CALLED 'GOT MONEY'! Bob Ticehurst who owns and runs the company, likes to appear as though he is running a non-profit business. He rarely lets people know he is a for profit company! He asks on his website and in his radio ads for people to donate books to his great causes! Bob, a once account and part-time books seller use to sell books he would pick up a the library sales online at Amazon.com.

Only to find out, he said, that he was making more money selling books than he was as an accountant! Bob quit his job as and accountant, only to become a fulltime book seller. Bob moved out of 3 apartments, he said, after his books took over the space. He started Got Books in 1999, and all of those like myself who donated to dear ole' Bob built him his own empire! I and all of you should be feeling pretty 'hard done by' to say the least!

Bob Ticehurst, who parades himself around stating that the books will go to a great cause, is only telling you and I a half truth. The real truth is, that Bob takes all the books, and has each book checked on Amazon.com to see their value first. All books of value, (and believe me their are many!) GET LISTED ON AMAZON and the money made, goes right into his pocket! The books that have no worth on Amazon, go to his book stores, yes stores with a 's'! He has more than one! And he has plans of creating a chain!

Yes with all your hard earned money that you paid for when you buy a books than donate them to him! We have help him build his empire! What company do you know wouldn't love to not have to pay for their inventory! Bob Ticehurst is just such a company! He gets all his inventory absolutely for FREE! From all us GOOD HEARTED people who DONATE to his so called 'BOOKS FOR CHARITY' ! Only problem is the hand out in this 'CHARITY MONEY MAKING SCHEME' is Bob Ticehurst's!

Oh, not to say he does not give books to teachers or troops, the books he gives are the one he has not worth for, one that are not wortha dime on Amazon.com and since he has millions donated he can spare donating to others. This works for him and he is well aware of it! He planned it this way, he knows if he says a percent of what is donated goes to charity, all the more fools like us will keep donating and more fools like us will begin donating. This way he can keep a constant inventory available to grow his empire with! I know I am no longer in the business of making dear ole' Bob rich! Wake up people and smell the coffee! Make yourselves rich! NOT BOB TICEHURST! He should be reported to the BBB!

If you have any books that aren't junk, they why aren't people donating to the library? If it is a charity you want to give to, then sell at a yard sale. Steviebaby may say that you get next to nothing for them, but how is that worse than the % that goes to Bob's company. If it is too much trouble for you to get rid of the books in those alternatives, then what is the big deal with his company? He comes to get your books for free. He could give 0% to charity and it might be worth it. You call his tactics misleading - his website doesn't say the %. So if you are like me, you think the true % is low or else he would say. Why assume anything else. Those that do need a website like this to tell them. Thank God for the internet to spread the word. However, I would say the word is to beware that the % is likely very low, not that it is a scam. A good alternative is Goodwill. I've actually bought books from them (thru Amazon) so they at least don't throw all of their books away or sell all of them for 5 cents a lb. to Bob's company.

I used to work for Got Books and this company wasn’t all that bad in the beginning. Bob Ticehurst used to have a cherty book store which he would donate 50% to non-profit organizations, he also used to care about his employees. Every Friday he would by us pizza, give gift cars for doing a good job and razes every so often, but all of that came to an end shortly after he started opening his for-profit stores, I think the money just got to Bob Ticehurst, money is the only thing he seemed to care about. What he needs to do is take a step back to when he used to care about his employees as well as opening up the charity book stores again to help people in need.

I don't see it that way. You were going to donate books doesn't matter to who? Salvation Army, goodwill, Got books. All these companies do good by employing people & keep the books out of landfills... Have you ever tried selling your books at a yard sale? You get next to nothing for them. This GUY is in business to make money. What did all your turds think anyone in thier right mind is going to work for free?

Amen! Glad to see someone besides ourselves that feels he's misleading the public. Check out how many times 'donate' and 'charity' appear on his website (100's). Then see how many times 'for-profit' or the like appears (I found 4). As long as people are suckered by his advertising, and the newspapers aren't about to turn him away, he will have an endless supply of free inventory - he recycles over 10 tons of books a day with a paper pulper, by his own admission! Very scary and hardly a green thing to do when some one else could use those books (i.e. library sales, used books stores, hands across the water in Stoneham). If he destroys them then more trees are cut to produce new ones! Ugh - makes me sick.
