GoodLife Fitness bullying/harrassment

I have been a gym member for 30 years. Recently I attended a spin class at cobourg goodlife fitness. I asked the girl beside me a question and the instructor stopped the class. Asked everyone in the class if it was exceptable for me to say "anything", then asked people to raise their hand if I should be able to return. I was embarassed. I asked everyone if there was a sign or some sort of notification that not a word could be spoken during the class but I was told the instructor Rob is a freak and snaps all the time. When I complained to corporate goodlife and the manager they did nothing. Apparently it is normal for the "Goodlife Experience" to be bullied, humiliated, embarssed. They want your money but they don't want you to frequent their club or classes.

Yes Goodlife is known for shady practises, almost all my friends have bad experiences with goodlife fitness, many of which are extreme pressure to sign up (they will do just about anything), When you sign up they will tell you about all the things they offer (motivational calls), which never happen. I contacted goodlife online and they told me, since this was a "verbal agreement" they cannot honour it. Which to me says: our employees can say whatever they want and we won't go through it unless its in the contract, but for an everyday person they trust the employees are telling you the truth. Goodlife changes their policys without letting people know. for example when i signed up they told me i can put my membership on hold for as much time as i want( i made sure of this because i am a student and won't be using the gym from sept- april roughly as my university has a gym, however when i told them in october i want to put it on hold, i am too busy they told me the policy was changed in july and now you have to wait 1 year until any membership can me on hold... Overall i had a horrible experince with goodlife, their washrooms really smell, constantly really dirty, no paper towels, overall service sucks. AVOID GOODLIFE AT ALL COSTS!

I brought in a friend to try the $14/14 days but instead of getting that deal, she was pressured into signing a one year deal for $880. As soon as she told me we went straight to the manager to complain about the bait and switch and the manager was very nice and apologized but the salesperson that tricked my friend into the deal came by and was very rude and aggressive and was irritated that she wanted to try the club out first instead of locking in for a year. I told him it was underhanded what he did and that I brought lots of referrals to Goodlife and I would think twice about referring someone again based on his conduct and his reply was that they don't need me or my referrals. He was speaking on behalf of the chain and saying they don't need any more business and he said all of this in front of the manager. This club won't last long if it's training their staff to bully customers and to treat them like dirt.

GoodLife Fitness jacob - personal trainer

This place is ridiculous. Jacob - a personal trainer is constantly talking badly about his clients, to other clients - he gives every member in the gym a rude face anytime you see him - serious does this guy ever have a good day? Well maybe when his older women clients come in and he constantly flirts with them over and over. Its gross that GoodLife would even allow such negativity come from this guy. Why on earth does he still have a job? He is unqualified to be a trainer - I myself is a highly trained certified personal trainer. I understand how important it is to treat people WELL and to not always have clients on the floor rubbing up against them. Its absolutely sickening. Stay away from this guy unless you want to be mauled like a little puppy.

GoodLife Fitness personal trainer contracts

If your thinking of signing up for a personal trainer don't. I signed up for a year (Stupid I know) and all I have been dealing with ever since is headache's! I had a trainer who would cancel whenever he got nosebleeds, migraines, or would set the alarm clock for 4pm not am? He basically put me on a treadmill and watched me run for 40mins then took me from machine to machine. Waste of time and money. They give you 10 days to cancel but trust me you will be doing fitness testing for those first 10 days! I got no compensation for 6 mth's after dealing with him and having to switch locations (After I requested it). I'm asking for a little help with what's left of my 4 mth contract because my car was stolen, and my parents were affected by the recent calgary floods and other companies were willing to make exceptions but not goodlife?. Goodlife is not about making "lives better" its about making sales and I hope to get the word out so other people see the fake sales tactics these trainers use to suck you in, while the club lives "the goodlife" with your money.

These fitness chains are crooks. Goodlife is the worst. Just see what the employees say:

As far as your four months go, I hate to break the bad news to you, but they are done. From what I can tell, Goodlife is really bad in regards to service, and they are all about making the most dollars off of every warm blooded body walking through the front door.

GoodLife Fitness fraud

In September 2012 I purchased a promotional gym membership, 3 month term. Expiry was end of November 2012. This membership was paid with cash, the full amount.

November 2012, at that time I renewed my membership for another promotional account which was also 3 months expiring in February 2013. This membership was paid in cash, in full. However, the membership consultant advised me he needed my account information for file purposes but assured me my account would not be touched as I paid for my membership in full with cash.

During the months of December 2012 to March 2013 I received letters from Good Life stating I owed them an outstanding balance of $28. I brought this to the attention of the membership consultant. He told me he will take care of the charge as it was an error. I received another letter, in which I advised the club again. Further to this, my scan card would not work. This happened numerous times.

In February 2013 I received a letter from the lawyers of Good Life stating they are going to be taking me to collections for $58. I called the lawyers office right away and left a message. I also physically went into the Good Life location to advise them of the letter. I was told not to worry about it by staff.

I emailed both the lawyers office, manager of 10th Line Good Life and copied Good Life head office of the issue. I received a phone call from manager Ali. He was to call me back later in the week, which he did not. I followed up with an email over the weekend in which he replied. We set up at meeting on the Monday at 930am.

Monday I arrived for our meeting to fix the error. I waited until 10am to meet with Ali. However, no meeting was had. Rather a front desk employee got me to sign a piece of paper stating it was a club error and to waive the outstanding balance. I followed up with an email to the lawyers office with a reference number.

After this in March 2013, I noticed Good Life had been making fraudulent withdrawals from my chequing account. I went into my bank, launched an investigation and had my money refunded.

I spoke with head office of Good Life in March explaining the entire issue. My accounts were closed after a long battle with Good Life. The assured me no more payments would be taken out.

April 2013, they are still taking out money even after all my accounts have been shut down. No one from Good Life has returned my emails or phone calls.

Bought 1200 worth of training then the Trainor is always unavailable. Then I'm told I have to use in 1 year and can't change trainor.

They withdrew money without consent despite of cancelling the membership an year later!
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE.. WISH THERE WAS ANOTHER GYM MONOPOLY so they would lower their prices down..
WORST EXPERIENCE ACROSS SEVERAL GYMS. BEWARE & LOOK FOR ANOTHER MEMBERSHIP..

GoodLife Fitness uncertified professionals

GoodLife Fitness falsely advertise their Personal Trainers are certified. Fitness Managers are encouraged to hire uncertified people as trainers that are passionate about fitness so they can put them through their own three day cert process at a cost of $500. Even if someone comes with a 3 year kin degree or already certified they must go through the process (albeit at a reduced rate of $200). This is because David Patchell-Evans is also the owner of Can Fit Pro the governing body for fitness professionals in Canada and getting people certified is a revenue stream he does not want to loose. Each club is given a PT hiring quota every month with the idea of hiring 3 to keep 1 and to get their $500 asap before they decide if they truly like what they are doing. As well, new hires are expected to work 20 - 30 hours a week UNPAID and UNTRAINED and are even given write ups if they do not comply. Often someone is hired, pays $500 and is written up and out the door before the end of their 3 month probationary period without recouping their initial investment.

I was recently a employee with GL and i can tell you that my expereince was brutal. I went to this Three day course i paid 500 for and i had the lady in Calgary by the name of Susan, Call me a Pot head for not understanding her way of teaching she than started making sexual thrusts on a bench well showing the class a stretch and making comments she has not been laid in years. Due to this i walked out of class and went straight to the regional manager and he had told me that he has recieved complaints on this matter. He told me i will be getting two emails. One apology and the second giving me a date with a different teacher i can take the class as i would have to do so before writing the test. So 4 weeks went by and i recieved nothing. So i messaged the regional and told him i had nothing sent to me and was wondering about the test. He replied it is out of my hands now, get your Fitness Manager to call Mark Iken and set up a date to write it without the doing the class again. So i forward this email to my FM and one month later she sent me a text saying if i didnt have this course or test done by Nov 1 i would be stripped of my clients (10) and released from GL. She than said it wasnt her job to contact Mark for me, With the regional Manager backing her up. So fair to say on Nov 1 I had my clients stripped and was fired. GL is a very "cut throat" Business. And would Deflate your tires to add air into theres. I have had over 2400 dollars taken off my cheque due to "commission" and members not paying there bills. So this showed me 1-they charge out the ### for everything. 2- if bills are not paid they take money off the employees cheques. They dont take care of anyone and its a terrible company to work for and even worst company to put your money into.

GoodLife Fitness bad business-poor ettiquette

Recently Goodlife took over for Gold's in a plaza on Chemong. I used to attend the original Goodlife 6 days a week and followed them to the new facility. It definitely took some getting used too, but since switching over I have heard stories of bullying and harassment from old Gold's members, as well as poor manners from former Gold's employees(trainers). I even at one point over heard a trainer talking badly about Goodlife and how he would be going to another gym because of the change over(he is still training for Goodlife). The trainers, mainly from Goodlife, but some from Gold's also are anything BUT professional. Often trips to the gym end in frustration with poor gym etiquette, messy gym floor, inappropriately stored equipment, misused machines and just missing parts on top of dirt and hair in the tanning beds and a change room with only one garbage and a shower that has been out of order for 3+ months now. At one point in time the Male change room was without hot water for 6 whole days and the dry sauna, as far as I can remember, has never worked.
But my trip to the gym today took the cake. When I changed and walked out onto the workout floor I went over to a row of 3 squat racks. In this already congested area there were 3 bench press bars on the floor, a yoga ball, 2 medicine balls and 2 bench's completely out of place along with two members who brought their bags and clothes onto the floor. These members specifically were using chalk (which I didn't think was allowed) and the chalk dust was EVERYWHERE. I have chalk dust on my gym shoes and on my gym bag still because of the amount of chalk. One guy was lying stomach down on the floor for the entirety of my workout and the other sat on the bar of the rack. They watched me do my work out as well as talked and joked with a Gold's trainer who was also working out on a separate machine. The gym was not empty, it was actually particularly busy for this time (Sunday-3pm) and these two men were taking up an unrealistic amount of space! The trainer said nothing about the obscene mess there were making or about the fact that neither of these men were wearing shoes.
Once before, 2 men from Gold's verbally attacked 2 young men from Goodlife for improper form during a shoulder press! The behavior among the gym members is atrocious not to mention the behavior of the staff. Some are exceptional and I would be very forthright to give names of those. But there are a certain few trainers and staff that either have no idea what is going on in the day to day or make it very clear that they do not want to be there or help.
I am completely understanding of the transition and the growing pains that can be experienced with these changes but the management has turned a complete blind eye to the disgusting conditions in and out of the change room as well as the blatant bullying and harassment that can be experienced on the workout floor.
I welcome comments, or contact with anyone from Goodlife or otherwise to further discuss this, as well as a handful of suggestions I have to improve the service and possibly make it a more welcoming place for all of the current members.

GoodLife Fitness filth and hazardous material

Bleach poured all over the counters, floors, filthy toilets, filthy studio, workout areas and change rooms. Someone burned themselves on the bleach. This gym is known as the Ghetto Goodlife and should be shut down. Staff shouldn't have to work in this hazardous environment and members shouldn't be getting their clothes ruined and skin burns due to the bleach!

GoodLife Fitness lack of service

My daughter was pressured into a personal trainer, she was a member before. She was evaluated by Troy in London and told she would still have three sessions, he was then fired. I had to call Frank the manager who never returned my call. She all of a sudden was given a new trainer who said my daughter Kaitlyn would not fit well for her schedule. Since then she has been told she would get assigned someone but has never been contacted, there is never any manager on duty when she goes to work out. This has been dragged out since Christmas and I cannot believe the lack of doing what the customer has paid for even though she was pressured into the personal trainer. At this point if we don't get her money back for the lack of her personal trainer sessions we will never get a membership with this company again and we will also share with everyone why. You are totally right. I worked very breifly at GL, once as a membership sales co-ordinator and once as a trainer. Both times I eneded up quitting out of frustration. This company has no respect for their employees, pays them very little money so they are forced to try and sell, sell, sell to make commission. Money is the only thing that matters to this company. The whole time in sales we were expected to recruit and solicit to people every day. Call people cotinously from call lists and try to get them in for appoitnments where we coud sell tot hem. It was awful. Even worse when I tried personal training there (I am certified, but you dont have to be), I got paid ZERO money unless I was being trained or training someone for 1/2 hour sessions which in the beginning is NEVER. Whats worse I was expected to buy my own uniforms and PAY THEM to take a 3 day course run by Goodlife. I m not too sure about other gym;s but goodlife is totally cut throat. I personally was never rude to clients and was always respectful, however I could see why some wouldn't be. Most employees end up resentful and angry at how they are treated by managment and how little they get paid, therefore they don't care to protect goodlife's reputtation cause most plan to quit soon after they start. I tell you both times were the worst work experiences of my life. Oh and I forgot to mention that while you are starting out as a trainer and making minimum wage for only a couple hours a week while you are being trained they expect you to be there for at least 20 hiours a week for FREE! Excuse me, but why should I work anywhere for free!?!?

GoodLife Fitness mistreated

I am just commenting on the overall mistreatment of myself. I was a member of Goodlife for about 2 1/2 years. When I signed up the girl told me to cancel or put on hold my membership which I knew I'd be doing from time to time because of the golf season would take approximately 8 to 10 days. After going for a short period I noticed that one of the weight machines had a pin missing for the 5 lb increment addition. I finished my workout and mentioned at the front desk the problem and left. This portion is a long story but to give you the short version since nothing was done a few months later I complained to someone else. Nothing was done. A pin is a minor piece of the equipment and a pin must be the most common thing at that fitness center. In total I complained to 6 people and one of them told me that he would have that fixed within two weeks which never was accomplished so I went to Guy the manager and took him right to it and pointed to the missing piece and was assured that it would be fixed which never did happen and when I cancelled my membership it was still missing. In total I would say that there were probably 3 or 4 things in exactly the same condition 2 1/2 years later. Some of them broke while I was a member there but anywhere from a year to 2 1/2 years and they still weren't fixed. They occassionally do fix things, but just not the ones I'm referring to.
I had witnessed several things between customers and fitness trainers that were complete arrogance from personal trainers towards customers. Hard to believe but some of it was absolutely rude. During the golf season of 2012 I decided to put on hold my membership until the golf season was over. I spoke directly to Guy about it because when I cancelled my daughter's boyfriends membership when he moved away an extra payment came out and 2 months later after speaking with someone who guaranteed me it would be in my account failed to get me a refund at all I thought I should go right to the manager. He told me that putting my membership on hold would take about 30 days to accomplish and I told him no, it should take 8 to 10 days. He disagreed with me and said, no, this is what will happen. I told him, no it won't because so far I did the same thing with 3 other ones, my daughter's, my son's and my daughter's boyfriend and all of them were done in 8 to 10 days except the one time the payment came out for my daughter's bf. He kept to his guns and told me no, it would absolutely take 30 days. At this point I was getting very annoyed and said, No, I guarantee it will not come out and that it will take 1 day and that day is today because I will put a stop payment on the account and that will solve that problem. He told me fine, looked at one of the other sales people and said cancel his membership.

No problem, I went to the bank and did what I said I would do, my membership was immediately cancelled and then I went home and Googled Goddlife head office found a phone number in Ontario and then called their office. I spoke to a very nice, very sincere woman who got my daughter's boyfriend's refund immediately. Appoligized sincerly for the manager's attitude and cancelled my membership right there on the spot so no more money would come out of my account. She made me aware that this phone number is used in the event that someone wants to cancel their membership right away and can't wait for the normal time it will take. She told me that this was available to everyone which is something that the individual clubs will never tell you. So, at this point she wanted to retain me as a customer and asked me what could be done to get me to return. I told her that although I really appreciated her attitude, demeanor and sincerity that I could not allow myself to go to a gym where the manager was as arrogant as the Dieppe club and that if he ever was fired or replaced then I would be more than happy to go back to it. Other than the poor repair time and rude trainers which I don't use anyways I was happy with the equipment in general and would like to return. I was told that of course she could not fire him which I understand and basically we both went our separate ways. After that I became a member of the YMCA in Moncton and have found that they basically have almost everything going for them. Down right friendly staff, helpful, personable and I thouroughly enjoy going there. The only slight drawback is the amount of space they have for equipment although they have a very good selection I would like to see just a couple more pieces of equipment. I noticed on two or three occasions that a piece of equipment would break and I would monitor the progress of it's repair and it would happen between two days and a week or two. You could not get me to go back to Goodlife now if I had a free membership. I am now happy where I am and it's a pleasure to go there.

GoodLife Fitness yoga classes

The Dufferin Club (Toronto) of GoodLife Fitness falsely advertises yoga classes. The classes are just strething and have nothing to do with yoga. The "yoga instructor" believes she is an expert because she has "taught yoga" for years and years and supposedly knows everything. GoodLife is falsely claiming that they offer yoga at Dufferin club.

Women not permitted to use equipment if men want to use the equipment. Also, sexist rock videos playing (including Robin Thicke's rape songs). Rodeos which abuse animals are shown on television, despite the relationship between violence towards animals and violence towards women. I was kicked in the face by a man in a yoga class - no apology was issued and nothing was done about this issue of overcrowding and just the general attitude that the gym exists for men. Yet, when I accidentally dropped a free weight (because two men at the club were intimidating me), I was disciplined like a child and the club claimed I may have damaged equipment. In summary, this gym is male-dominated and male-oriented. I am a grown woman and resent the "general manager" disciplining me like a child.

They also falsly advertize that their Personal Trainers are certified. This is because David Patchell-Evans is also the owner of Can Fit Pro the governing body for fitness professionals in Canada and getting people certifed is a revenue stream he does not want to loose. each club is given a PT hiering quota every month with the idea of hiering 3 to keep 1 and to get their $500 asap before they decide if they truly like what they are doing. As well, new hires are expected to work 20 - 30 hours a week UNPAID and UNTRAINED and are even given write ups if they do not comply.

GoodLife Fitness horrible customer service

Kings Mill location. Front desk staff horrible. Besides complete apathy, they ignore requests made from members i.e. change music, clean up bathroom, tidy equipment on floor, etc. They pretend to listen and sometimes write complaint down. I have seen them take the paper they wrote the complaint down and toss it in the garbage.
I will be leaving this Good Life very shortly.

This is an incorrect comment by 'tasha'. Staff should not claim to help out then ignore the customer. We were not the only ones complaining about the music in this regard. There were other issues such as bathroom cleanliness and weights not being picked up over time. These are only a few of the items that have been ignored.

GoodLife Fitness janice dorozio

Discovered today that a year after I had signed off my 2 year contract, they continued to collect membership fees because my daughter( who was under 18 when we signed up) had not signed off herself, even though she had gone into the gym to tell them she was even leaving the country.) They told her that because the 2 year contract was expiring anyway that there wasn't a problem. Phoned head office to complain and the guy says that there is no signed paperwork for her so no refund! $500+ n no refund?! What 's going on here! HELP PLEASE! This is theft!

This is now happening to me also! For a year they have been collecting money from my account (unfortunately unnoticed till today:( ) head office does nothing for you because there isn't a signed off paper by my daughter who was under age 18 when I signed her up and even though I had signed off, they had no record of her signing off. In other words they have no intention of refunding my $500+ ! What kind of company is this? The guy I talked to about it woulded let me speak to a supervisor either. No sign off no refund! But I did sign off n they told my daughter that because the 2 year contract was over anyway she didn't have to do anything:(. Oh, but it's in the contract...DON'T SIGN WITH THIS COMPANY ! YOU WILL REGRET IT. JANICE CALGARY ALBERTA

GoodLife Fitness contract

READ your contract very careful because despite the fact that you have fully paid for the year, if you try to cancel your membership early, Goodlife Fitness will penalize you. Canceled 2 weeks before my due date and was fined $80.00. When I informed them that this was a bogus charge and that l would refuse to pay this, l was contacted via the company lawyer citing that legal action would be taken if l chose not to pay. What a bunch of scam artists.

GoodLife Fitness controling and shady

I have made several attempts to communicate with the fitness manager at that gym. EVERY time I seemed to get the run around.
"The coordinator doesn't really have an email address but I'll be sure to give him your message." Or They're in at different times throughout the week." Some of them have told me that they don't have VOICEMAIL!
What kind of manager of a business doesn't have voicemail?!?

I know for a fact that they treat their employees like slaves, pay them horribly and demand that they work exCLUSIVELY for Goodlife and no one else.
If that's the case then they will have to pay me $1000.00 a month to teach classes there.

They are controlling and shady and sleazy! And it's nauseating how their employees are all brainwashed into thinking how WONDERFUL it is to work for them.

Dufferin Club claims they offer yoga. This isn't true. The "yoga" classes are just stretches, and very basic stretches at that. It has nothing to do with yoga. The "yoga instructor" thinks that because she has done yoga for years and years that she is an expert on instructing poses. Because of this false claim that Dufferin Club is offering yoga, other Goodlife Fitness clubs in the area have cut back on their yoga classes.

GoodLife Fitness membership dues

Take a look at my letter to Goodlife Fitness- do not get a membership there.

To whomever it concerns,

My name is Kim Cox and I used to have a membership with Goodlife Fitness until today. The Location I was at was in Winnipeg, MB, Canada, 142 Nature Park Way, R3P 0Y6, [protected]. I called your customer service, and I was told that I owed 296.92, and that my membership was cancelled. So I would have to pay 300.00 and not be able to use the facility. Here is my story.

On May 28th, I decided to go to Goodlife Fitness and get a membership. I wanted to get fit and healthy!
I paid $135.45, into fee, one months payment and personal training.
When I signed up, I put the wrong date which biweekly payments should come out of, so obviously that was my fault, and I ended faulting the first three payments (when I noticed). So on May 28th, I went into the facility and apologized profusely and paid my balance of $76.46. I also filled out a form requesting that my biweekly payment be changed to the fridays which I get paid. So therefore the next payment should come out June 8th. (the Kenaston location in Winnipeg has this copy). So great, I figured! yay! everything is straightened out, and Ill be stress free and workout at the gym.
So June 1st comes around, and I look at my bank account and Goodlife had tried to pull $7.35 out of my account, but it didn't go through bc I didn't put any money in that account since I was TOLD that payments will be coming out June 8th. The total biweekly payments that I should be paying is $25.73 for the membership and $7.35 for tanning. So did they forget to change the date of my tanning payments. yes. this was supposed to be done with my membership.
So I phoned customer service and talked to a very nice lady, cannot remember her name unfortunately, but I was very upset, and she ensured me that everything was fixed and the attendant t the front desk had filled out the paperwork wrong. The lady in customer service then told me that there will be a small fee taken out of my account for the balance of the remaining month. on 06/12, that amount of $3.36 was taken out. I called again to inquire about this and she said that the account is up to date and all is well, and payment should therefore be taken from my account biweekly. I was so happy again, yay! I can workout in style! * When I went to the location I wanted help directly from the staff there, I talked to the Assistant General Manager, Paul Templeton, he said he would look into it and help refigure things out, and he NEVER phoned me back or even attempted to reach out to me. Terrible service.
So for the next 3 months I was in the process of buying a house and moving, I moved 09/01/12, but had been real busy since July. I didn't check my bank account to see if payments were coming out or not, so I just assumed, since customer service had told me everything was good, that all was well. I wasn't able to use the gym for a couple months due to moving.
I received a letter in the mail today dated from August 27th 2012, (since I failed to change my address with Goodlife, so I had my mail forwarded to me from my old apartment which took awhile) saying that I owe 141.51 and that my payments from june 22nd to August 17th was not paid.

Here is what my bank says was taken out : I can provide actual bank statements to back this up.

07/06/12: Goodlife Fitness withdrew $7.35
07/20/12: Goodlife Fitness withdrew $7.35
08/03/12: Goodlife Fitness withdrew $7.35

So why is that Goodlife was still pulling out money, but then doesn't pull out the correct amount, then sends me letter saying that I missed all those payments…I have the letter- I will send it to you.

So I once again had to phone customer service today, 10/15/2012, and sort out this chaos. The representative on the phone told me that my membership was cancelled by the company due to missed payments. ! and that I owed the whole membership fee of 296.92.The representative was quite rude to me on the phone, I did ask for a reason why my membership account was not taking the proper amount out, and he couldn't answer me, only saying that my membership was cancelled and that it was completely my fault for all of this. I am really disappointed with the LACK of care for your customers, the lack of help, the lack of knowledge of your staff, and lack of taking responsiblity for your own mistakes. I am very upset that Goodlife represents a stress free environment to workout, to feel good about yourself and to be fit and healthy, when the staff, and cutover service is just not there. I will not be paying the rest of the membership dues. I would like to have this resolved as soon as possible or possible legal actions will be taken.

I have been a long time member of GooLife and use many of their locations across Canada. I have found them to be wonderful facilities, always clean and tidy, with fantastic customer service. I have never has an issue with them taking out more than they said they would. In fact they still honour the rate I signed on for quite a few years ago $20.00 a month for all club access. The initial person that signed me up told me that by signing the contract I would always be locked in at that rate, as long as I am a member. I have dealt with other fitness facilities that are out to get you for every dollar. I find that GoodLife truly cares and has integrity. I suppose you cannot please everyone, but I am more than satisfied with the company and believe there is a reason they are the number one fitness company in Canada and still growing.

Bloor Park Club - what a joke! This club is the worst. Every employee including maintenance staff, yes them too, have access to your personal info on their computer system. Your address, birthdate and SIN, everything.When I complained, head office said - so what?! Receptionist will stop you if you take more than 1 towel. He has a big issue with people using more towels and other amenities. He checks personal info on members to see who interests him. Management does not care and complaints are not heeded to. Personal trainers and other staff have soaring attitudes. Equipment is not maintained.Towels are sometimes just put in the dryer without washing. You can tell. Bad club but from you read on this board, seems Goodlife has an attitude, just like its staff. Barfffff...

Yes, when I joined years ago, they did ask for SIN and Drivers license. In fact they took copies of it and kept it on file. That is how they have all that info. At the time, I did not think of not providing them with this info - just part of signing up I guess. Regardless, I really hate the idea of employees having access to my address and other info.

Upon joining many years ago, I was asked for my SIN or Drivers license, copy of which they kept on file and it was from the drivers lic, they obtained date of birth etc...

In regards to the main complaint above - there is no way a receptionist will stop you if you take more than one towel unless its Monday night rush hour and there are millions of people, that is a LIE because if you do indeed have towel service and paying member you can have as many as you like. Second, yes they do have access to your info but not as far as SIN number nor even full banking info displaying but in case something is wrong with your account or banking or payments so they can help you. In regards of hygene of towels thats absolutely NOT true, they wash them AND bleach them from automatic dispensers. Sometimes towels come out stained a little bit because members choose to wipe their shoes and etc. with them. New hair dryers and curling irons are put in change rooms but members steal them, everything is done for members but they choose to abuse it. Equipment - like many clubs have issues here and there but they always put in request right away to fix them. In regards to theft, there are ### people everywhere it is unfortunate that happens, in most cases people leave their stuff in lockers unlocked hoping no one would take it, which is a big mistake. So author of the first complaint - go get some common sence or at least chat with their staff before trashing the club.

I was robed at Goodlife fitness recently located at 380 The East Mall (inside Loblaws), but I was told that this problem had happened before very often. The only security camera that they have is a fake camera and nobody has done anything to improve the security system there. They didn't call me to know more details or to know about my situation. I feel that the management doesn't care about it; furthermore there are indications that they may be involved. They also have a picture of a suspect and they didn't stop this criminals behaviour. Me and another person were robed at the same time, then somebody else told me that it happened to her last week, and another last month. They want nobody to know about it. Before I was robed with small things also, the customer service is bad, the staff person who proposed me to enroll never told me clear the fee, and when they charged me was a little more money, but why not to say it clearly? Also she never give me a bag gym and when I asked about how much it costs, the girl in charge told me that they don't sell it but I need a recommendation from some employee or a friend in there, are you kidding me? But I like the instructors that's I am still there.

Once when attending a yoga class at Bloor Park, I was kicked in the face by a male member who didn't even apologize. I am a small woman. I complained to the management about the classes being overcrowded. Of course, it's not their fault -- they can't control the behaviour of everyone who attendes classes -- but I never went back to that club again.

GoodLife Fitness fraud and cheating by good life company

I have purchased a ro system with brand name “Nasaka” which is of 13000 from this fraud organization. I had the planning for purchase Kent RO Water Purifier. But the concerned sales executive from this fraud organization biased me and assured me that Nasaka will be the better option and you most go for that. At that moment i had to believe him and purchase the product. When i received the product moreover there is lot of difference between the image shown me during interaction with the sales executive and the actual product. Even they provide offer of some gifts voucher worth rs 5000 by scratching a coupon scheme but the actual price of this gifts would not be more than RS 300. Even they took additional 300 Rs towards handling charges for this gifts. Almost it is over 8 months of purchase of this product and we have not received any gifts. When i contacted the respective Customer Relationship Manager at this number [protected], she handed over my calls to some one fraud and cheater person. That cheater person told be that we have already delivered your product and we cannot provide any further help/assistance. This is completely unethical and unacceptable.

Kindly look into this matter and help me towards taking strong action against this type of fraud and cheater companies. Also we need to build public awareness and informed people beware of this type of fraud and cheater organization.

I have been a member for 5yrs and been to different locations within Canada. On daily basis there machines are down, I'm paying over $66.00 a month ! Plus the have too many members not enough machines...why I am I paying you guys when I can get better service and pay less too!

GoodLife Fitness drug use - discrimination - abuse of women

As a long-standing GoodLife member, I recently relocated to north London Ontario and have found that this 'premiere' gym (charges more, supposed to be 'better'). It seemed OK at first, but soon I noticed that the male 'trainers' were aggressive to the point of being verbally abusive not only very blatantly to the female trainers, but the young and vulnerable women members as well. These overly beefy tattooed staff seem to thing we are there for their personal harem, and it doesn't stop there! We have put numerous complaints in the 'box' and they actually laugh about them and the 'fitness manager' does nothing, in fact he even joins in the verbal abuse and openly cheats on his girlfriend by scooping up impressionable young women for sex and drugs. He is apparently an avid steroid and cocaine user as well if the gossip holds true and his assistant manager, who isn't even a certified trainer but charges like he is (so beware, they are not all certified but charge like they are (shame on you GoodLife, it is all about the money, not the 'good life') is a true used-car-saleman praying on young women there and bragging about to anyone with ears. It is such a nice gym too, but I hate it there and will take my bag somewhere else now.

GoodLife Fitness mistreated

I have been mistreated by the manager at Goodlife fitness. I had a contract for a year and payed the amount for the first and last month. Now my contract was finished and I want to cancel it. I went to sign the cancellation form after 30-day notice and when I signed it she told me to get out because I am done here. I got really bad at her because I had the amount for the month and she was telling me to get out. I told her I already payed last month and I already had paid for the last month when I signed the contract. So basically, I still had one and half month to go. She lied and denied the fact that I payed for last month at the beginning of the contract. After telling her, she took time and said fine I will give you another month. Along with that she threatened me that she will kick me out of the club. She mistreated her customer and I am not planning to go there again.

I've been a member at Goodlife for a number of years now, and things just never change. They frequently run out of paper towels, machines rarely get fixed or maintained... For a downtown location gym I would assume them to put their best foot forward, but no chance of that. A year ago I had decided to pay for a locker rental there and I paid for a 3 month period when it got close to expiry I'd get a note on my locker to renew and I would no problems right... Until recently I went in one morning and without warning my lock was cut and my stuff removed. I stuned and puzzled. I thought maybe my stuff had been stolen. Now I must explain that I work long hours and don't have much time for the gym so I squeeze it in where I can. So resolving this issue took up about 10 to 15 minutes of my training time. putting me behind schedule. Anyone who trains regularly know how much 10 minutes of carido is. So then I had to book a meeting with an assitant manager (forcing me to take time of my work and NOT get paid) and the girl kept talking down to me like it was my fault!? She told me she didn't have time to notify people that they weere cutting of lockers. She never reimbersed me for my lock that they had decided to cut, without notice. Oh wait the best part was when trying to contact her she was getting a personal training lesson and didn't have time for me. I guess customers come second at Good Life, and I don' t mind stating her name is Alison at the Queen St location in Ottawa. Very bad custome relations.
I see the "stink face" from the trainers when you're not paying for Training there. I guess If I were buying Training sessions at $60 a pop I'd get better treatment. That's just proof that Good Life is simply out for their best interest and not yours. Especially when people can walk of the street and get a weekend cetificate for fitness traning and be a trainer, at pretty much any Good Life. As long as they can sell sell sell... I would attach picutres to show how messy change rooms are and the mould in the showers and weights laying around everywhere, but they make sure you don't use any "image capturing devices". I will sneak some soon though.

i totally agree, since good life took over from bally total fitness, huge difference in customer service, i never had complaints in ontario, but since i got here in halifax, oh my, they dont have a clue, the worst is park lane mall, they need some crash courses on customer service, the best so far here is lacewood, i move a lots between ontario and nova scotia, halifax clubs need crash courses, i had very bad experiences here, other than goodlife, i use dalplex and small gym at best western choclate lake, huge difference in customer service, guys smarten up

Well I'm not impressed one little bit with GOOD LIFE FITNESS, MISSISSAUGA! I have a personal trainer and I've had to put off being in the gym for some time due to health issues. Well, I've asked to have my training session stopped and revoked with head office due to my health issue. When I approached head office they would not do either but still continue to take my money regardless if I'm not there. I was informed that if I was leaving the country then that would be a different story and could have terminated the contact over an individual with a doctors consent requesting no psychical activity. WOW! So it's sad to say that Good Life Fitness isn't made out to be a Good Life atmosphere after all. I SUGGEST TO ANYONE BEFORE JOINING WITH GOOD LIFE OR ANY TAKING ON A TRAINER MAKE SURE YOU DO YOUR RESEARCH!
