I had called the claims department to verify that repairs to my RV rooftop air conditioner would be covered, and they assured me it was. I submitted a cash paid receipt for the repairs in January, 2011 and now they are refusing to honor the claim. They sent me a request for additional information on February 14th, which I responded to the same day, and the claims representative actually told me he could just continue to say they never received it and not reimburse the claim. For my purposes, the ONLY reason to be a Good Sam member is for the insurance, and if the insurance is worthless, so is the Good Sam "club".

Approximate ONE YEAR after filing the original claim with them, I finally got a "good will" refund of $500 from GSEW after I complained long and loud via several consumer complaints venues. This represented the amount I had already paid out of pocket in excess of my deductible. One year is a ridiculously long time, and I am tired of dealing with businesses who treat customers like dirt. Even though they eventually sent me the coverage amount I paid for, I will NOT recommend Good Sam Extended Warranty service to anybody. Ever. Under any circumstances.

Camper World is Associated with the Good Sam Club. The Good Sam Club attaches its name to Good Sam ESP for RV'ers and car owners. They sell you the big picture by telling you you would be protected by a fabulous extended service plan if you break down and need repairs. Today was my first time using the Good Sam ESP "that I pay good money for". Here is the rest: I had to use my Good Sam Warranty. I was told I had to spend over $3000 to tear my engine down so that Good Sam ESP could see what caused the failure of rings and pistons, then they would decide if they would cover it or not. Beware, stay away from these people, "They aren't what they used to be". Back then, you could rely on Good Sam ESP, now they find clever ways to leave you hanging. Don't buy this ESP, know that they are not what they claim to be. They expect a customer to shell out thousands of dollars to "figure out" what caused the problem. When you spend all that money, you are out thousands of dollars and they leave you hanging, "the fix is in". I will be posting this to every car club I can find, every RV site, every Camper Site, and every Automotive Enthusiast site I can find. I want everyone to know what happens when you need to use your Good Sam ESP for your car. You don't even get dinner first!

The converter went out on the trailer. Called Good Sam and they said to take it to any local repair shop which I did. Despite the warranty stating it will cover the price of the part, diagnostic and the cost to "replace the covered part at the prevailing labor rate", they only were going to cover what they thought the part should cost (not the actual cost), and 2 hours labor ($360) for the repair (nothing for diagnostic). After calling and complaining, they said they would cover the part and make a "one time adjustment to cover the labor". That day they sent out a new authorization on it they adjusted to pay for the part, they also included a new line item with 2 approved hours for diagnostic and additional labor ($370). However they forgot to add the $370 to the total for the approved coverage. After multiple calls where each person you talk to gave a different answer, I went to the repair shop where we both got on the phone with claims. After an hour on the phone the claims person say "well I can see the note saying we will pay, but our policy says we will only pay 2 hours for diagnostic and repair". We then get sent over to customer service again who repeats the same line. So walking back their adjustment. So now I'm off to file a complaint with the Department of Insurance. Save your money and stay away..

We purchased a 17 ft Starcraft Satellite travel trailer in April of 2018 from Camping World in Woodstock, GA. We also purchased the Good Sam Extended Warranty Plan for $3, 000. Our first camping trip found the plumbing leaking under the sink. I tightened things up myself. Early on, one of the front stabilizer jacks collapsed followed by the other front stabilizer jack. I’m 67 years old and followed directions warning me to use the jacks only for stabilizing the unit, not for leveling. The rear jacks are still in fine shape, because they don’t have as much weight to bear. In the first year, water started leaking through the opening for one of the front classification lights. I removed the plastic fixture and caulked it with silicone sealant. A few months later, this had to be repeated for the other front classification light. About the same time, I discovered the camper had to be leaned slightly to the left to keep air conditioning condensation from dripping inside onto the floor. Keeping it level could result in a gallon of water splashing down on your head. At this point, I was beginning to realize I had purchased an inferior product. Last fall the LP system for running the refrigerator quit functioning. It would only work for about 15 minutes and the “check” light would come on. I also noticed water had somehow leaked under the ceiling panels and rotted a wood trim strip.
So now it was March of 2021. I figured with all these things wrong, it was time to take the camper back to the dealer and let my $3, 000 be put to good use. What a mistake that was! After nearly two months, I was told that Good Old Sam rejected everything but the LP refrigerator issue. That would be fixed by simply replacing a faulty igniter. I was given an estimate for fixing the roof leak of a mere $1, 800. You see it was my responsibility to peel back the interior trim pieces to see that some screws had come loose. My answer was a straightforward “No.” The ac leak problem couldn’t be duplicated (duh, unless you have hot, humid weather, how could you duplicate it?), so nothing was done there. The inadequate little front stabilizer jacks couldn’t be replaced either. After doing without my camper for 2 and a half months, I went to pick it up. Why, it would only be a mere $441 for diagnosing the problems the warranty wouldn’t cover. Lucky me, the refrigerator was repaired and everything was just fine! When I went to hook up the camper, I discovered the battery was dead, so I couldn’t actually test the refrigerator. When I got home, I set the refrigerator to the LP mode, only to discover, after repeated attempts, the “check” light would come on after only 7 minutes.
So what’s the bottom line? I paid $3, 000 for an extended warranty that’s worthless, I drove a total of 240 miles for nothing, I was socked with a bill for $441 and absolutely nothing was fixed! If you’re even remotely considering the purchase of a Good Sam extended warranty, please don’t do it. Good Sam and Camping World are anything but good!

We agree that a Class Action law suit may be in order. On November 14, 2019 we had pre-approved repairs done at Cummins in Houston on our 2007 Allegro Bus. The service at Cummins was excellent, but it has been an ongoing stall with nothing but excuses and lame apologies from Good Sams ever since. We have called on a regular basis to see when our refund of $1, 722.31 would be sent. We have now been told several times that 'the check is in the mail', that claims did not process it in a timely manner (ya think?), and just today we were quoted a 'check number.' They have had our money for two months, in effect using us for a short term interest free loan. We used to recommend Good Sams and will never do so again.

Purchased a 2016 Expedition 38K in 2017. Have had problems with the slide, the bed, the jacks, cracked tile, etc... GS covered everything minus the deductable after I took it to REV in Fort Worth Texas. Recently had an A/C problem. The Zone 1 would not get cold. I troubleshot the problem to the Zone Control Panel inside the A/C as the relay would not send over the 120 volts to the compressor to get the air cold. I took it to Transwest in Frederick, Colorado as they were the only ones that would work on it unless we waited 4 months to get it to Lazy Days. Transwest told me they wouldn't call GS Extended Service Plan as they don't want to deal with them. I called GSES plan and they said without the phone call, they would not pay even though I had the estimate for parts and labor. I talked to a GSES supervisor. He told me to submit all my info plus receipts and they MIGHT consider paying for the repair as a "one time courtesy". I am pissed that I paid over $12000 for this 7 year warranty and am treated in this manner. I will never by a unit from Camping World or renew this rip off extended warranty. Think twice before getting screwed by rip off Extended Service Plans. I think a Class Action Law Suit may be in order. What say everyone?

We bought the GS Extended Plan for our 2012 Forest River Class C Sunseeker. On our way home from Florida in May, we ended up going over one of the roughest roads I've ever been on in Mississippi. We spent the night at an RV park north of Grenada, MS, with the intention of leaving the next morning for home in Oklahoma. As I was disconnecting the hose and electric, my wife declared the slide-out would not retract! Evidently the rough road had effected the slide out control module. We called Good Sam Roadside Assistance and they did send a mobile tech out who managed to get the slide out in so we could get home to Tulsa. We then took it to the new Camping World in Tulsa, produced our Extended Warranty documents, and everything seemed to be okay so far. Then, a few days later we were told that the parts that were needed aren't being made any more! After some phone calls the service manager called and said they could order them but it would take two weeks to get them in. He then asked if I had any other warranty and I said that I bought one from the dealer where we bought the rig that should also still be in force. I told him where to find the paperwork in the coach, and he called me back and said that THAT was the warranty to use as it only had a $50 deductible, and the Warranty folks said they would cover the slide-out repair. The Good Sam Extended Service Plan? $500 deductible! Now, when they say they cover your A/C or your Reefer, guess what? You can find both available for $500 or less! So what good is this warranty, and why does not the advertising brochure mention the ridiculous deductible? I won't be renewing the plan, ever. It's a rip-off.

WOW! All these legitimate claims and disputes are extremely disturbing. I just bought a used Dynamax Motorhome and was strongly considering a GS Warranty. Not now. Does anybody know of a warranty plan that they would recommend?

WARNING to anyone that carries the Good Sam Extended Service Plan on their RV. We took the motorhome for repair of a leaking water seal on the Drivers side. Freightliner charged 1, 612.58 but the insurance adjuster declined the claim. Advised they were only liable for the 'covered' charges of 447.00 which didn't exceed our 500. deductible. Amazing they cover the oil seal but not all that it takes to get to it to repair! We have had this coverage for 11 years and premiums approx 200 per mo. First claim! Too bad we didn't have a claim in the first couple of years so we could have saved a lot of money. What a rip off. Needless to say, we cancelled the coverage and will now put 200 a month into our savings. And BTW, there is a $50.00 cancellation fee that we will be billed for according to the terms and conditions of the policy!

In Aug//Sept 2017 my generator started failing...By September 11 it stopped working altogether. I took it to the repair facility and the owner told me that the engine seized and they could not fix it and it had to be replaced. A call to the Good Sam Extended service by the repair facility was met with a list of unrealistic requirements such as "listing every part in the generator that failed and a diagnosis of a seized engine is not sufficient." Hurricane Irma hit the Florida Keys on September 11th...I have a home there and needed to get there to assess the damage and since there was no power to the entire area I needed the generator. It was replaced at my expense. When I returned I called GSEW and was given a list of requirements that would make your head spin in order to get any satisfaction. I was also told that if while it was at the repair facility they would have had to send an adjuster there to look at the seized generator. This could have taken weeks. My repair facility told me that Good Sam Extended warranty is the worst one on the market. I am still going to pursue this since it cost $4, 000 to replace the generator but buyer beware. It is not like a warranty when you buy a new car and take it in and expect to have the problem resolved. It is a rip off.

GOOD SAM EXTENDED WARRANTY CLAIM DENIAL - I bought the extended warranty for a 2000 Bounder diesel we bought two years ago, and had the warranty for two years. In Nov last year, returning from a 2000 mile trip, we had and intermittent "check engine" light accompanied by the engine "derating" slowing us to about 50 mph. We limped the remaining 250 miles home and took it to our Cummins engine dealer. I called Good Sam and notified them of the problem and told them it was in the shop. The issues began when Good Sam was wanting the technician to call Good Sam and explain to them what they were doing following each troubleshooting step, and would not accept the information from me. The Cummins shop rep explained to me that they really couldn't justify pulling a technician off a job and sitting on the phone on hold to explain his actions to a claims rep. Cummins kept me posted of the progress, and didn't do anything without my prior approval. We ended up with three dyno runs, replaced two turbo induction hoses, crank speed sensor, and the final bigee, the turbocharger, which had an intermittently sticking waste gate. The net result was a 100hp to the ground increase in power, and it now runs like a scalded ape, better than it ever has since we bought it. The bottom line was just under $4, 000, which included the new turbocharger. I submitted this to Good Sam, and because the warranty did not cover the 3" induction hoses, and didn't consider the turbo as as an "internally lubricated part", the $1, 200 turbo was disallowed. The sticky wastegate is non-lubricated, integral part of the turbo, which is lubricated, and is not available separately. My net recovery from Good Sam Warranty was $ZERO, thank you Good Sam. I called and told them I wouldn't renew when this term expired (a couple of weeks ago), but still got a friendly phone reminder today that my warranty had expired. Based on my experience, I feel the Good Sam Extended Warranty is a waste of money, and wouldn't recommend it.

After read reviews on GS extended warranty and reviews of other companies offering similar warranties I think I'll keep my money in my pocket and not purchase any warranty. Every complaint stated has the same theme, deny the claim until the consumer is worn down then offer them a fraction of the actual repair costs. Good strategy for them and unnecessary aggravation and stress for the consumer. Thank you to those folks for taking the time to write these reviews and saving me the money and aggravation they had to go through.

All of these comments are true. Camping World gave us such a bad deal after they added all there warranties and extras the banks they went to would not cover the loan because there was not enough equity in the trailer. That caused our credit reports to take a hit. Stay away from this company!

I was just considering purchasing GSESP for our new trailer but after reading the reviews above have decided to forego the insurance. We have been extremely lucky with all the trailers and one class B motor home we have owned so I will continue to take my chances. This is just another example of big business having little or no concern for consumers. It also points out the need to...oh no, I'm going to use that word..."regulate" the RV industry. It is obvious that they are not going to regulate themselves and they lobby hard to make sure they win and consumers lose. Think about that next time you vote.

I purchased my 2015 Jayco Seneca from Camping World with 7000 miles on it. There was a thermostat issue with the front A/C when I bought it that Camping World tried to fix twice before I picked it up for delivery. They "fixed" it the third time I took it back but it went out one trip later. There was also a loud hum from the inverter (like a dog whistle) that would come and go and they couldn't get that right either after 3 trips back to them. After that, CW was too busy to ever get it in, and I had lost patience with them anyway. On my last trip my house heater went out. I inspected it, and the refrigerator was dripping condensation on the control board for the heater. I should mention that Camping World had removed my refrigerator to replace an electrical connection prior to delivery...and guess what - theiy mis-routed a condensation evacuation line so it dripped constantly on my heater's brain. I took my Seneca into a reputable repair shop and they diagnosed everything. They tried to file a claim for me. Keep in mind...I am now 6 months in to owning my RV, 2500 miles later on a 5 year service contract. The Good Sam top of the line warranty won't cover the fridge repair or heater control repair because "leaks are excluded". They won't cover the AC/Thermostat repair because "loose wires aren't covered". The shop also found my generator to be leaking coolant. 2.5 hours to remove it and repair the line. Without even looking at it...guess what...they don't cover it "because it must have been a loose hose clamp". Remember the loud hum - that was caused by a mis-wired thermostat...AGAIN...CAMPING WORLD...and guess what...Good Sam won't cover it because it was related to the thermostat with the "loose wire". I have zero faith in the Good Sam Warranty and am cancelling. By the way...that's not so easy either. Good Sam won't let you cancel it. You have to cancel it through your original dealer! I called my local Camping World and guess what...the people that have the power to hand me the piece of paper to fill out...so they can send it to Good Sam...are all out this week in training. I emailed my local CW finance team today and also emailed the GSEW folks asking for cancellation and a FULL refund. I have also emailed the VP of operations for Camping World. I'd tell anyone who will listen that they should steer clear of this warranty. As far as I'm concerned it doesn't cover refrigerator repairs, thermostat repairs, inverter repairs, generator repairs...or at least the ones I needed on my darn near brand new (but slightly used) coach.

well, I called Good Sam and bought a 3 year extended service plan, which is supposed to kick in in 8 days from now.. I have not made the first payment yet, and after reading these comments, I will call them Monday morning and cancel. I might want to ask them first which credit card number they have on file (so that I can make sure they don't charge me $1500 for the first year, or $50 cancellation fee). Sounds like I found this page just in time. Thanks to all the posters.

We purchased this insurance for a used 2004 Dutchstar purchased at Syracuse Camping World in 2015. Syracuse assured us that the motorhome was all ready to go it is a great motorhome. We said we were going across country again they assured us it is all ready to go. First leg of the journey the jack warning buzzer came on, per camping world tech we put it in store. After staying in Colorado we hit Arizona the jack system went out totally, went to camping world in Bellmont, they checked the selinoids and said that was the problem, after many calls and pictures sent, we spent one extra week in camp grounds, Camping world said they would set us up in their lot, spent 12 days there before it was finally settled, circuit board, control panel, motor, selinoids., and by the way Good Sams will not pay for all, because some parts are obsolete, only pay for old part price, We paid $2400. to Camping World $2500. for the insurance and the jacks are still not fixed. Came home to NY took to camping world after 1 month and numerous calls they finally tell us that the jacks are bent that is the problem and by the way Good Sams will not pay for bent jacks. $2000. more. We feel that the insurance company misrepresented the coverage when we talked to them on the phone to purchase it. We sent letters to representatives for the review board and never got a response.This is a very short version of the problem and you can only imagine the stress involved with numerous phone calls and conversations with many different people trying to get answers. Buyer beware hope this helps someone else from making the same mistake we did.

I am considering of getting coverage for my 2005 Aspect Winnebego but after reading all the complaints regarding Good Sams I doubt that I will get coverage from them. CEOs really don't give a damn. All they are interested in is how much money they can line their pocket & laugh all the way to the bank-SUCKERS!

It amazes me that Camping World/Good Sam CEO Marcus Lemonis is seemingly unaware or just doesn't care about the huge volume of complaints in the Good Sam Extended Service plan.
Taking this one step further, the Camping World stores collectively have associates with the worst attitude in U-S retail.
Presumably Mr. Lemonis is aware of the worsening reputation of his operation. Why isn't something done?
A possible answer is that those of us with RV's are at a huge disadvantage. Camping World, with it's many locations, is frequently our only option for parts and repairs.

I sold my RV and cancelled my Good Sam Extended Service Plan. I just received my notice of cancellation which includes a $50 cancellation fee. I reread my contract and it is stated in there so I have no recourse.
It was an easy $50 for them but certainly leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

I purchased a good sam care warranty in February of 2014 when I purchased our 2008 Fleetwood Expedition this cost me $6, 995 for a period of time that was never really explained to me. This motorhome was sold to me by Camping World of Syracuse, NY with only 20, 000 miles on it, well the motorhome was a LEMON. The first week we had the motors fail on the slides as we traveled to MN and one issue after another. The warrenty did step up and camping world of Syracuse did pay for the expedited shipment of the motors to MN.WOW that was our first trip with this MH, we also had a leaking roof issue around the AC well the warranty wouldn't cover that after several arguments Camping World did cover since we had the MH only 4 weeks by than. But we have had numerous other claims and DISAPPOINTMENTS from this warranty. Most recently we traded this MH in on a 2016 NOW when I cancelled the extended warranty policy (after 2 years almost to the day) they tell me there is no refund on the remainder of the policy becasue claims are deducted from the total cost of the policy, now my claims have been $11, 000 but isn't that why you buy a policy. WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP...why would you by an insurance that deducts claims? OH, I never received a copy of this policy after I had asked SEVERAL TIMES in the past when I had to dispute coverage on a claim. I think these policy are somewhat of a scam, they tell you it covers the motorhome stem to sten but when you have a claim you fight and fight to get coverage and when you move to another MH or camper they won't pay back. SO actually I really paid for most of my claims myself that warrenty really didn't cover much in the long run. I would have assumed that just like a car insurance if you wreck the car they pay if you have 1 year premium paid and you chose to cancel your policy and go somewhere else after the wreckage you would get your premiums back you had remaining of the coverage time. NOT THIS WATCH the campingworlds and the sam care program they will get you

I'm a retired AF member located in Sunny Florida, my retirement gift to myself is a RV purchase. I did everything a smart first time buyer should do, get an independent inspection, along with documentation that the dealer provided that everything was mechanically sound. I wanted to be extra careful because the RV is used, so I called Good Sam and explained all my pre-checks, and asked if I was clear on purchasing a warranty with the assurance that Good Sam will cover me if anything goes wrong with the RV. The Representative said no preexisting issues will be flagged due to my inspections before I purchased the RV. My first trip out with my family, the brakes went out. Scared me to death. Called Good Sam and had it taken to the recommended services station. After mechanic looked at the RV and reported back to Good Sam, Good Sam denied coverage, reason is preexisting issues with RV. I called and asked manager to replay conversation on my purchase with warranty rep, and I have all documentation that proves they were not preexisting. Two months later waiting for an Good Sam inspector to re-exam issues. I'm soo tempted to contact better business and any other internet media to warn everyone about Good Sam. If it can happen to a 22yr Retired Military Vet, it can happen to anyone.

last summer, my airstream was hit In a parking lot. called good sams insurance. told me to get it fixed, send estimate first. did all this and them the reimbursement was short $1000... a snotty kid explained that our airstream dealer gouged me and this is the way it is. my airstream dealer was the second oldest dealer in the us. good people . good sams insurance is b...s.

My generator quit working while I was on vacation. I have been sitting in my sons driveway for 8 weeks now waiting for Good Sam Extwarantee to approve a replacement. The original repair shop (Ocean Breeze) in N.Hampton, NH, jerked me around for several weeks. Finally got Good Sam authorization for repair. I found out the Repair Shop was a rip-off and asked Good Sam if I could change repair facility. They agreed and it now has been two more weeks waiting for Good Sam to approve the repair/replace. From the new repair shop. I want a new generator and I will pay the difference ($300) between a new one and a new motor. The motor will take another 7-9 weeks to get. I am now considering buying the generator myself and trying to get the money back from Good Sam once I get back home. This has been a very expensive lesson. Good Sam extended Warrantee is horrible. They already approved $6400 for a replacement diesel motor but won't approve the same amount toward a new generator. In the meantime I am stuck in New Hampshire instead of my home in Alabama.

Have not really had any bad issues with the extended service plan for 7 years. Have filed three legit claims and they were handled without any hard issues. On one I called back and asked the question as to whether or not the claim amount paid was correct and before I could finish the question the claim rep advised that he sees an error and will take care of it. Within 5 days I had the overpaid amount refund in my hand. Guess you could say no problem's so far.

to many complaints to list. i've had to fight tooth- and- nail to get any satisfaction. that was the first 6 months. i am currently trying to resolve another claim (month 10) and it is the same runaround as before. today i am going to cancel my extended service plan.

Two years ago the A/C compressor went out on a used Class A motorhome we'd just bought. GSEW wouldn't replace the correct compressor. They put in a compressor for a Ford pick-up. It failed two years later and once again they wouldn't put the heavier duty compressor in, so I paid for it myself.

My wife and I bought the Good Sam Extended Warranty for our motorhome and jeep approximatly 8 months ago, we also purchased the extended seal and gaskets warranty. When we purchased the warranty I asked what we needed to do to meet the criteria of teh warranty if we should ever need it. The salesperson said "just be sure to keep all your maintenance records". The Saleperson also said we should make a list of things that need to be fixed so they all fall under one deductalble. They did not elaborate on anything else. About a week and a half ago we started hearing a knock in the motor so we had our o2 Jeep Loberty towed in and had teh service writer send in the info for the warranty. Good Sam sent an adjuster who marked down that we did not have the correct size tires on our vehicle and Good Sam denied the claim. Our vin # shows the vehicle came with 215/70R16 size tires, The Official Jeep Manual specifies that you Can use either 215/70R16 or 235/70R16 size tires which we have the latter. So we are using the correct size tires as specified by Jeep. The deniel is unjustified and prolonging our repair.
