Goldcar / Europcar / no spare tyre, terrible service, no response to complaint!

I would strongly advise against using this company. We booked car hire through Carjet and were allocated this rental company. On arrival at Palma airport we were told that the car wasn't available, even though we had booked in advance and notified the company of our flight details. We were asked if we wanted to pay more for an alternative car which we declined. Finally after waiting around for about 45 minutes a car was provided.

However the car had no spare tyre - we only discovered this when we had a flat on a mountain road. We tried to call the helpline number for about an hour but couldn't get through - the line was constantly engaged. Eventually we managed to get through to the office number and were transferred to the helpline. We were told that someone would be out within an hour, but no one arrived and we called again. This went on and on, costing more and more (we only had a mobile and the international rates are exorbitant - each time we phoned we had to retell our story). Eventually after about 3-4 hours, a tow truck arrived and took us back to our accommodation. We were told that we would be able to claim compensation but I have tried emailing customer services at Goldcar and have so far had no response.

    I was assigned Europcar after booking thru AutoEurope - at Shannon. Horrible experience = I encountered one of the RUDEST people ever at their counter and what a mess. Had to come up with 492 dollars not the 152 listed as due on my voucher. And I had already accepted the extra insurance for Ireland.

    Europcar is this THEFT,
    I Hired a car from Europcar Rennes in November for 1 week i pre-paid for with my credit card, Firstly noticed the tank was not full so reported that at airport to be told previous customer had said it did not register full,i returned the car week later filled it up 1 mile from airport and low and behold registered full, unfortunately the check in was closed at lunchtime so had to drop off keys,But more worryingly i have been charged an extra £65 for extra insurance i did not request which came off my credit card when i returned to UK i have made 4 phone calls and 6 emails to date and not had any response from france which i was advised to contact, Managing Director be prepared.

    GOLDCAR-Valencia.
    Remember the maxim "penny proud and pound foolish.
    Do not be fooled by Goldcar prices. The services is diabolical.
    First they assured me they were in the arrivals hall at Valencia airport. When I arrived they were in fact on the second floor of the car park in a caravan.
    We took the car for under 4 days for using around Valencia city. They charged me for a full tank of diesel and said bring it back empty (78 euros).. as if.
    The charged me 8 euros because they said I ordered a diesel on the internet. I never did but they insisted but couldn't show me any proof and said complain to customer servises for a refund.
    I said I will drop the car off in 3 days hire and bring it back full.
    At first they said we will adjust our refund according to the tank but I threatened to call the police and they finally agreed to refund the 78 euros but not the 8.
    When booking through internet car agencies always contact them and insist that you do not book with GOLDCAR

    Leave this lot alone.

    Never use Goldcar. They added 150 Euro to my credit car for no reason after the car was returned. An explanation was never given and still trying to get money back.

    The same as fedup15, we gave the car back shining and were charged 150 Euro...

    This is an email I sent to Gold car:
    Estimado señor Heiko muchas gracias por su respuesta, pero es totalmente fuera de lugar porque Yo no estoy contestando la calidad de la gasolina.
    Yo estoy contestando que el contracto que Yo he firmado en el aeropuerto de Girona es completamente diferente a la cotización que Goldcar me ha enviado; y que ha determinado la elección de Goldcar como sociedad donde alquilar un coche.
    Ninguno me ha dicho que tenía que pagar la gasolina en modo independientemente del consumo .
    Yo firmé un contracto sin imaginar que su compañía cambiaria las condiciones del contrato.
    No se señor Heiko si Usted es el Director General de Goldcar, creo que no, porque un director general nunca me daría una respuesta tan ofensiva como la que Usted me da.
    Tengo 65 años y he hecho el CEO y lo sigo haciendo de muchas de empresas, y nunca me pasó de firmar un contrato a un cliente diferente de la oferta que había aceptado.
    Creo que no usare más sus servicios, ni los recomendare a ninguno, por falta de seriedad y respecto con el cliente.
