Global-link Lotto / Scam

Like many, I received a letter today in the mail, along with a check payable to me for $1998.00, claiming I had won a lump sum payment of $120, 000.00! I have never heard of anything like this before and immediately became suspicous as I had not entered any kind of lotto. The letter reads as follows:

FINAL NOTIFICATION
We are pleased to inform you of the release today, the 24th of November, 2006., the results of GLOBAL-LINK SWEEPSTAKES LOTTERY/FREE LOTTO PROMOTION PROGRAM held in Amsterdam, Netherlands on the 10th day of November, 2006.
Your name attached to the ticket number 077566 drew the lucky numbers which consequently won the lottery in the 3rd category.

You have therfore been approved for a lump sum payment of US $120, 000.00 in cash credited to file: ZZTE508-22/A1.

We have sequred the required amount you need to pay for all the tax and service charges regarding your winnings. A lump sum payment of $120, 000.00 will be remitted to your designated account or a certified cheque willl be hand delivered to your home as soon as payments are completed. I am going to follow the advice of many on the forum and contact my local police and post office inspector. I am extremely shocked that this scam is going on and has been for some time now. I plan to make as many people aware of it as possible.
