Glacial Energy of New Englad promised to save big on electric bill for companies. After a few months rates are doubled then they send a form for energy drop that states it will take a month or two do discontinue service, and customer service Senior Care Rep states that is it PSNH's fault not theirs. Not true PSNH says service immediately reverts back. I called NH Public Utilities Commission (Bob Rohnstock) he was very helpful. He said he would call them and I am not the first to complain. As a small business owner in this economy I am bothered that this company would take try to take advantage of business that might not pay attention to all bills that may increase slowly but substancially.

They slipped extra charges in on me and deducted them from my checking account. They did it again even after being ordered to refund $235, 770.00 in overcharges and going into bankruptcy! I now have a claim in with the bankruptcy court for the overcharges. SCAM.

Glacial energy is the biggies scam. They charged me at .26/kWh a month now. After I have stay with them for a year at a rate of .079/kWh. I will never do Business with them again.

We are a small resort in Bethel, Maine and we track our energy usage and costs closely. In February our rates more than doubled from an average of $6, 000.00 per month to over $14, 000.00. I was told their 'costs had gone up'. We went back to the Standard Offer and are seeing our energy costs drop down to normal. I am spreading this word throughout the business community in Western Maine.

All the positive comments here must be from the company. Why would anybody be on a complaint board if you are happy with you service

I have been with Glacial for about a year and a half. Everything was fine until one month my rate jumped from .11 to .28KWH. My bill went from $250 to $860. When I tried calling the company all I got was answering machine. I left numerous messages but no one has ever called me back. When I finally got in touch with someone they told me its no mistake, thats the market price. That was a lie. So I called Board of Public Utilities. They told me they have a lot of complaints with Glacial as well as many other third party providers. They recommended me to switch to my utility company as they don't do these crazy price increases. This was a commercial account. They also delete all posts from their FB page

I have been extremely satisfied with Glacial for a couple of companies that I own. And, btw, there are fixed rate options at this point so everything is even more seemless than it was under the variable.

I heard that Glacial's license was being revoked in TX and PA and that a regional director recently leaked customer lists to a competitor, and that he will receive 1 mil for every customer that the other supplier manages to close from those lists.

I have had nothing but a positive experience. Glacial has saved a couple of small companies that I own a good percentage of money on both my gas and electric. They have been crucial in helping out my bottom line.

What about the latest fine from the Texas PUC where Glacial was fined $235, 750. You can read about that one here. http://www.energychoicematters.com/stories/20120109b.html

This complaint was addressed and the New Hampshire business owner was satisfied with the outcome. No official complaint was ever filed with the NH PUC. While the request to change back to any utility company is submitted immediately, there is still a certain process that must be followed and the official switch date can vary. In most cases, the switch date is the next scheduled meter reading date by the utility company. This company is THE WORST ! They lie, cheat and steal. The only positive comments are clearly from their employees or representatives. They promised huge savings and as soon as they switched my service, I was told I was getting better rates from NStar and they didn't know why. I also was hit with a retroactive charge from my carrier that amounted to almost $30, 000 because NStar was giving us the lowest rate possible. I never signed a contract with NStar to receive this rate, just got that rate when service started. After terminating Glacial I started getting collection calls from them for inflated amounts and I now switched back to my main carrier and I'm not getting the rates I was getting before Glacial entered my life. I get sick just hearing their name. And my nightmare isn't over. I still have to deal with them, and now an attorney. Run from these thieves !

Looks like I'm a little late in commenting, but anyone sticking up for Glacial is either a troll or an idiot, seriously. I work for an energy broker, and out of all the customer's bills I have seen (12 months+ worth), I have seen nothing but a price hike up Mt. Everest until the customer is paying waaayyyy more than they should be.

As mentioned it is always a risk to float in index, especially through peak seasons, but across all the states in which I've monitored their invoices compared to what we see from quote from guys like Hess, Direct Energy, or WGES. Across all states and the endless amounts of bills I have seen, I have yet to see any customer benefit from Glacial on any account. All clients that switch to us for guidance have nothing but bad things to say about Glacial and their shady reps.

On that note, how about these accusations regarding money laundering and investment in "blood diamonds" in Africa? I'm curious as to how legit this is, looks like Mr. Mole hasn't really had much to say in regards to that at this point. Cross your fingers, we may be witnessing the downfall of Glacial as we know it! :)

Glacial Energy Idiots are a bunch of ###s. On their testimonials page two people said the exact same thing. When making up BS testimonials the couldn't even change them. Here are two different testimonials with identical wording.

I now know this is a scam!

‎"Glacial Energy was by far more competitive than the other companies and the transition went flawlessly. I cannot think of anything more that I would have asked. Our representative was and has been very informative about the company and the industry in general. For us, all in all we are very pleased with the savings and customer service that we have received." - Fallbrook, CA

As I said above, this is an ongoing project for me. I am in the process of working with Glacial on moving more of our Texas facilities to their services. We would eventually like to have all of our facilities under direct access with Glacial.

I cannot think of anything more that I would have asked. Our representative was and has been very informative about the company and the industry in general. For us, all in all we are very pleased with the savings and customer service that we have received."

Just today I am now confused. As an agent in Pennsylvania, I heard angry phone calls saying that they paid 13.99, 16.99 and 15.99 cents - without GRT added in. That's a doubling of fees, yes it seems, and I am told that to get the average rate you have to average the entire year.

Am I selling a scam? Please help!

I spoke with the former representative I used to work through and she said it was a scam and that she is selling for a company called Liberty Power and switching over all her Glacial accounts.

I cannot comment on if Glacial actually saves you money or not on your power bill. However I can tell you that the CEO Garry Mole is a piece of ### and a psychopath. He is such a piece of ### that his wife left him with his young baby and all he can do is talk about banging 25k supermodel hookers. I have a lot of friends who work for Glacial and I am happy they are in the Virgin Islands because it helps our economy and i am pleased my friends are making good $$$ on your hard earned dollar. They pay their employees twice the salary that they should get. People who I know who have no experience have gone from waiting tables to making 80 to 100k right off the bat. Even though a lot of people who I know and care for work for Glacial, I feel ethically responsible (which Glacial doesn't) to help people making a hard earned living. DO NOT USE THEM! ITS A SCAM

PS All the positive comments on this site seem to be from people working or making money from glacial.

PABUSINESS OWNER:

You need to understand the Glacial Index and let it work and do the math. For example, since you paid 6 cents one month and 12 another and 17-20 (summer average is Glacial Energy), you divide that total by 3. Therefore, 6 + 12 + 20 = 38 divided by 12 months is 3.5 cents will be your average. That's how you derive the savings. People say Glacial is a scam with misleading quotes, but those people just don't understand the mathimathics and how you divide the average to arrive at the quotient (or yearly savings average). That means that if you use 1, 000, 000 KwH you will save $27, 000 per year or 7.2-3.5 times 1, 000, 000 over a year.

Here is my rap.
Yo, I'm a pimp and I sling energy
Not no doozy but a "gingerly"

I started in oct 2010 and my rates have doubled until I called to complain and they gave me a $350 credit and was going to make my rate at .01c/kw over what they are buying it. The problem is you dont know what the rate is until you get your bill. They promised savings and THE NUMBERS prove that it is NOT true. If my next bill is up again I will switch back! I went from .06c/kw to 12c/kw in 7 months and they blamed it on the rate caps that came off in Pennsylvania. The company duquesnelight I had before has a fixed rate of .072c/kw so how is it higher with Glacier. The worst is not knowing what your rate will be!

As a currently employed Business Development Manager with Glacial Energy, I can tell you that Glacial Energy is a scam. Our quotes are deliberately misleading.

I continue to sell their electricity because I like the salary and benefits. But since I hate to see people get ripped off, I make sure that most businesses do not stay with Glacial Energy for very long.

Like other employees (and even managers, or so I hear), I future customers with a good fixed contract at the time of their enrollment with Glacial Energy, so they sign two contracts at once. It goes into effect a few months after they enroll with Glacial Energy. I sell it as "rates will be low for the next several months, but let's lock in your rates before the summer rate spikes." It’s easier than letting them know that this POS product will soon explode, and if that doesn't work, I have my contacts at other suppliers contact them directly and manage the sale.

They are only stuck with Glacial Energy for a few months and as a side benefit, I enjoy seeing the heat come down on local management from the Finley's because of terrible customer attrition and terrible sales. It’s hilarious to watch it unfold…. But I’m nervous that I’ll soon be axed along with everyone else because we do nothing here that the telemarketing team couldn’t do more effectively and for less money in the Virgin Islands.

I learned how to bilk others from the very best.

Another of our properties was given a quote by Glacial Energy and it said that the average rate was 2 cents lower during the previous 12 months than it was on our last months bill. Smelling bait and switch I quickly called up the business manager that gave us this deal and he actually recommended a contract with Hess and gave me a GUARANTEED RATE which was lower than the FAKE rate that Glacial Energy gave me. He also said that his old boss wanted to start a lawsuit against Glacial Energy and that they were encouraging all Glacial customers to find another energy utility.

You need to stay away from Glacial Energy.

Did you know that Glacial Energy has an employee who's job is to look for Glacial Energy complaints on boards such as these and write posts posing as a happy Glacial Energy customer (since none really exist). They go through sales reps like toilet paper, are being investigated in New Hampshire for fraudulent activity, and were dropped like a hot potatoe after by the National YMCA after becoming their "official partner".

My former Glacial Energy sales person recently gave me a contract for Washington Gas and Electricity at fixed rate of 3 years for .0771. He told me that it was a special deal that they put together for all Glacial customers.

I think that you should all consider the Glacial Energy fixed Washington Gas and Electricity contract rate than their variable rate, which averaged over 13 cents for me.

Personally I feel an index product is a the best product for price savings. You don't have to pay the premium that goes along with a fixed contract.

Typically with a fixed contract you will pay about 9 mills of a premium charge. You also have to try to time the market with a fixed contract. I would say 90% of the time an indexed product will out perform a fixed contract.

Fixed contracts are great for budgeting and that's what they are used for. The aren't really designed to beat the utility and capture the most in savings.

Glacial typically charges high administrative adders. The norm in the business is to charge a 3-7 mill administrative adder.

Glacial will charge a standard 30 mill adder. When trouble arises within the company they will charge upwards of 80 mill adders with the hopes that customers will not pay attention to their bill.

The funny thing is that Glacial boasts about having no contract when in realty having a contract is the most important thing in protecting customers. You can get the same product from WGES. WGES offers a month to month indexed product that require you to sign a contract. The contract discloses WGES's margin on the deal and they are not allowed to alter it.

Companies such as Glacial, Commerce, and Veridian will not have contract so they can manipulate their margin and participate in price gouging.
