Giant Food / Giant of Maryland prepared foods/cheese and pepperoni stromboli

I purchased a stromboli on 11-22-19 at Giant. After I cooked the stromboli I began eating it and found the entire stromboli laced with long strings of plastic melted within the cheese. One of the plastic strings got stuck in my throat which I was luckily able to pull out with my fingers. I called Giant's hotline to report the issue. They told me someone would get back to me either that day or the next day and that they would email the store to let them know of the incident. I personally thought that left too much time for another person to purchase another plastic laced stromboli that might lead to someone choking or dying so I went to the store to seek out the store manager. Long story short, all the strombolis were laced with plastic because a new employee cut the pepperoni and stuffed them with the plastic still on it. The manager apologized and returned my money back on the purchase along with a 50 dollar gift card. I was on an urgent phone call while I was waiting and couldn't really speak to the manager when I signed for it. Many days have passed and still no phone call from corporate checking up on a customer that choked on plastic laced through their product and no apology. I called a second time to express my displeasure for no return phone call and I was told it will be a priority to have this message sent to the right people and I will be called back. Well that was over a week ago and STILL no phone call or concern. I guess the store manager giving me a lousy 50 dollar gift card resolves all issues and closes out this complaint. Well I am here to tell you that it doesn't resolve a damn thing and if I wasn't on such an urgent phone call I would have reiterated that to the manager. Awful Awful customer service from Giant Food Stores that they think not getting back to me is acceptable for something as big as what just happened to me. I have been a loyal customer for many many years and I am treated like a nobody who by the way Choked on plastic laced throughout the entire stromboli! So show some consideration and respect for one of your loyal customers and make a call!

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland customer service

Went in with a check and verified I could use with manager before shopping (only had photo of my ID) she said yes and so I shopped. After ringing all items, cashier said check is not acceptable neither is ID. Mgr didnt even acknowledge I asked and she answered. Not a sorry, can we hold the groceries or concert for anything. The management only acknowledged a regular customer prior to me. Rude, incompetent and racist. Never again will step foot in that Giant.

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland place to sit and wait for people shopping

I was very disappointed the new mill
Station store has no benches inside the store that people could sit down for a few minutes to wait for people they came with that are still
Shopping or to just wait even for a ride. The griffs mill store had one bench inside to sit in near the exit door, the mill station store had plenty of room along the inside glass windows fir several benches! There's are a few benches outside of the store but are far from the exit and not protected from rain, The store had three tables near Starbucks not near exit to wait on after pay for food, I guess the store doesn't want older people that may need to sit down for a few minutes. I just don't know why no benches are in the store as the two stores that closed had them. It's not right

They have same kind of bad management at the Giant Food Stores 4357 Swamp Rd, Doylestown, PA. They have even employ Anita Kelly, a convicted felon pleaded guilty for selling PCP & Marijuana to children, case number 38-1-17CR-[protected] in Montgomery County. Rude Manager Joe H Carwithen does not care about it at all.

On January 19, 2010, Anita Kelly (aka Anita Serafin) employed at the Giant Food Store 4357 Swamp Rd, Doylestown, PA 18901, plead guilty for selling PCP and Marijuana to an 11 year old girl. Case number 38-1-17CR-[protected] in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

I brought this to the Giant Grocery stores management and they just laughed at us. You decide if we are crazy:

Now she sells beer and wine at the Giant Food Store 4357 Swamp Rd, Doylestown, PA 18901. This is illegal and bad business and it's not safe! She has an extensive criminal record that also includes Prostitution, violence, other drug felonies and more. She even has an alias here https://m.facebook.com/public/Anita-Serafin#!/profile.php?id=100005065184536

I attempted to notify the Doylestown Giant Food Store manager Joe H. Carwithen (aka Joey Carwithen and Joseph Carwithen) we don't want a criminal having open access to children in a public place. He laughed at us and said, "Well, there are other grocery stores in Doylestown, I never want to see you in Giant again". So in shock, we did even more digging and found out that Giant Food Story has a problem with hiring criminals and people who just don't understand how a civil community operates. Joey graduated from Pennridge High School (Perkasie, PA) and is an absolutely notorious racist and all around creepy pervert. Th stories that his classmates told us about this individual only beg the question, why isn't he in prison? Joe covered up Anita Kelly's criminal record and gave her a job here in our close knit community. Tell me what you think!

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland florist service

I found an employee named Kashif at the florist section. He was supervising a lady customer whom he allowed behind the counter in order to fix her own bouquet, I waited my turn while he smiled at the customer constantly and just stood by her. While the customer was finishing up, I asked kashif if he could help me, he said there is someone available who can, and that he would call him for me. I asked him a few more time if he was sure someone was available to help me and he reassured me, then left as soon as the lady customer was finished, I waited for a long time after until another employee told me that no one is there to help me and Kashif had already left.

So I'm very frustrated for the time I wasted and felt like It was discriminating to watch certain amount of care to go towards another customer while I was lied to and neglected.

I don't think I will ever go back there again

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland giant kitchen bags - drawstring

The Giant - Kitchen Bags (13 Gallon Capacity) have now had a defective manufacturing issue with the drawstring for months... when you try and pull the drawstring to tie up trash bag, it actually tears the top lining and does not allow the drawstring to tighten.

I have noticed this for months now, thinking it was just a mistake on the part of the machine, but it has been constant now every time I buy this brand! Usually, I am very happy with Giant products, but this is very frustrating to say the least... it obviously has something to do with the machine's alignment! Please fix it. Where is the quality control?

Again, could someone please look into this situation immediately... its definitely a manufacture defect in your plant's equipment!

Thank you!

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland expired/stale food

Yesterday I went to Giant, 2145 York Rd, Lutherville-Timonium, MD 21093. I purchased some items to cook dinner. One item in particular that I had an issue with was Dole Spring Mix Salad. When I got home, I discovered that the salad had leaked brown juice into the market bag. I looked at the container and did not understand why. I slightly opened the container and the salad smelled rotten and spoiled, it was awful. So I had to leave back out of my home and go back to the store to return it. This was upsetting as it was a huge inconvenience. On top of that it is unsanitary. All products should be checked before going on the shelf.

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland deli deluxe sharp cheddar slices

Your website directs you to giant food stores for this product, but they do not have it anymore. What happened to it. I cannot find it anywhere. I have looked at several Giant stores, Walmart super centers. But none of these stores even has a place for them anymore! This is very aggravating, as we use it more than any other cheese. Has it been discontinued, or is there a major lack of communication happening between your company and retailers?

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland store appearance

I visited the White Oak, Maryland Giant Food yesterday, Tuesday, Feb 27, 2018 in the evening just to pick up a few items. I was very disappointed in the appearance of the store itself and also the bathroom facilities. It's obvious that management does not consider this a priority for that first impression lasting impression concept. This store has not always looked the way that it does. The outside appearance of the store could also use some attention; there are carts blocking the entrance and trash just kind of thrown about by patrons who could care less but it just doesn't look good and gives the appearance of a not so clean store. Giant has been in this area for a number of years and has not always looked the way that it does now.

Mr. Izzy, the founder of Giant Foods Store took pride in the way that his stores looked at all times and although he is no longer around and the stores are operated under different management, perhaps take a lesson from the past.

Signed,

A concerned customer

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland giant 249, I got hired, and did orientation. where's my employment?

Costumer service doesn't send my messages to the manager, I've called seven times and they won't even ask for my number so the manager can call me back. "What about a better place to shop, a better place to work"? This ridiculous, and strongly unprofessional, I feel this giant 249, is very, very poor about their costumer service. They should be up for review. They need to do their job, not just answer the phone just to "take a message", they gotta actually pass it on. Bad customer service

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland dairy

I as a explicitly decent customer, without any negative attentional attempt to harm myself or any others, with intentions of grocery purchasing, walked into the Giant's Food Stores, P.G. Plaza location, Hyattsville, Maryland on September 16, 2016, where at no fault of mine became a victim of a personal injury. I as a customer who encountered a personal injury on the Giant's Grocery Stores, PG. Plaza, Hyattsville, Maryland location premises am feeling disgruntled, was taken to court where the judgement decision was decided I believe even before my court appearance not to be in my favor in which I have been treated irredeemable, irrefutable, irreconcilable, and irresponsible and just purely a unfair unsatisfied customer.
On September 16, 2016, my body discovered there was a patch or puddle of water on the floor that caused me to very strenuously and stressfully slip and if I had not had my shopping cart immediately present I would have very tensely fell. However, in the midst of the fall I strong armed hold caught onto my shopping cart, in which I subject hurt to my shoulder, also in the process of resisting the complete whole body fall subject hurt to my leg, knee, and back. This incident or accident occurred in the Dairy section of this Giant's Food Grocery Stores, where I had noticed there was a Giant's employee present that I would try to get his attention without physical touching him, I waved towards him "employee please can I get your attention" and then I noticed this particular employee was assuming he was working with one hand and the other hand he was holding what appeared to be his personal cell phone on his ear holding a conversation.
I continued forward with more grocery shopping, when suddenly I experienced excruciating pains throughout my right side leg/back areas, when then I immediately went to checkout without any treacherous intent. I thought to myself I need to and better make a accident report. While I was at the checkout spot I received the attention of the Giant's Stores Manager Mr. Brown, P.G. Plaza, Hyattsville, Maryland. Mr. Brown who gave to me accident report paperwork to fill out, he reviewed, and assured me he would submit. This accident occurred on a friday evening, I severely and excruciately ached all that night, when in the morning in which was Saturday morning experienced knee and leg swelling, my right leg/knee was swollen and achingly hurting. I all that Saturday and all that weekend suffered pains to my leg, knee swollen, back aching, until Monday when I immediately seeked medical physician attention. I was given a Tuesday appointment, where my physician sent me for X-Rays, and prescribed medications. I was told nothing in my leg back injuries seemed to be broken, just severely strenuously injured. I also was prescribed immediate Physical Therapy, where I took a few sessions and felt as though now I need an should get a lawyer. I got a lawyer to take my case of personal injury endured on the Giant's Food Grocery Stores premises, when they also sent me to their Physical Therapist. I have since then completed all physical therapy and still to this day feeling the Giant's Food Grocery Stores endured as no-fault of mine pains. At that time I was prescribed more Physical Therapy treatments, remind you this accident and these therapy sessions began in September, I did not complete my Physical Therapy sessions until November. From this particular endured personal Giant's Food Grocery Stores injury, I seriously and truthfully was hurting, aching, and in pains.
As this is my story and I completely and truthfully stick to it, I was refused a settlement or any sort of financial compensation for my "Pains and Sufferings" from Giant's Food Grocery Stores, to myself from this no fault of mine personal.
I as a innocent customer was taken to court, scheduled on November 27, 2017 @1:15, in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. was decided or judged to have no truthful sufficient evidence to support that I was injured on the premises of Giant's Food Stores, P.G. Plaza, Hyattsville, Maryland, where Store Manager Mr. Brown and their lawyer pointed me out the customer to be a "LIER" to my accusations and injuries that I incurred on the Giant's Food Grocery Stores, P.G. Plaza, Hyattsville, Maryland Store Manager Mr. Brown premises.
I rate Giant's Food Grocery Stores 000000 or rating scale 1-10, 000000, meaning this corporation is decided by me a franchise that's "Just In It To Win It", I solely "Hate" this franchise Giant's Food Grocery Stores and have nothing ever nice to say towards this franchise/corporation Giant's Food Grocery Stores, who embarrassed, harassed, and unfairly took me a customer to court without any intentions to make a fair decision, judgment, or settlement for any long lasting pains and sufferings I endured through no fault of mine on the Giant's Food Grocery Stores premises.

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland beer garden

Beer garden and eatery at this store is horrible. Manager in this section is rude, never open on time, and when you complain to the assistant store manager he is even ruder, acts like he is doing you a favor for opening that section of the store. Posted hours say open at 7 AM, never ever happens, most days it's 7:10-7:20 before you can find anyone to help you. A loyal customer for 20 years and this is how you are treated. Call the 800 number to complain they try to buy you off with a $25 gift card, how insulting. I just want some respect and service from employees. I will never return to this store again, shop at Wegman's if you have one near you, customer service is much better.

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland The attitude of employees at this store!

This store is absolutely unfriendly! Especially the deli dept.! Most of the time they do not have what you want! I feel that they are doing. E a favor to wait in me! Also when it is time to check out, the cashier is not friendly at all. I try to help bag my own food! Today was the worse experience I have ever had! This store needs to check out their employees more often! I complained to the manager. He said I will give you a gift card for your bad experience! They should not have to do that! As of now I will never go to that store again! That store needs a lot of help!

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland Wrongful Termination

I was actually fired yesterday in a harsh uncaring manner by my bosses that I thought were so “down-to-earth.” The problem in this situation was that I was scammed by a professional con artist that was, apparently, made aware of by the Giant Corporation prior. We employees were never notified or even train in the area of thieves and con artist, but I guess my higher ups dropped the ball on that one. Management can not only lead by being a friend, or Social leader, but also by being goal-directed or goal-oriented towards the common goal. I think, the managers at my job were more concerned with being our friends it made them lose track of bigger things, such as, training your employees efficiently so that we do not lose are jobs at the hands of a devious con artist. It does not make good for employee moral when the leaders at your job make employees feel that we are one, and then turn around and be so cold, when you put in hard back breaking work, as a single mother of two, working you way through school. So strange that this happen 3 days before my 90 day probationary period, the holidays ending, and a claim I just settled with the Giant pharmacy a week ago?

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland abysmal service and incredibly rude staff

The pharmacy #310 at the Annapolis Road location in Bowie Md is absolutely abysmal. The entire pharmacy staff are incredibly rude to customers, completely inept at their jobs, and made shopping at the store unbearable for me. Today 10/8/2014 I arrived at the store shortly after 5pm to pick up a prescription submitted electronically by my physician at 11:40am this morning. I was told very rudely by the staff that they didn't have a prescription on file for me at all, only to find out the incredibly rude young black woman working the front counter was looking at the wrong name and barcode. On several occasions I have been notified that a prescription was ready to be picked up only to arrive at the store and have them tell me they have no idea what I am talking about. I have been told on numerous occasions that they don't have any prescriptions on file for me only to be told later that they were looking at the wrong name or number. I am absolutely disgusted with the behavior of the staff and how I have been treated as well as seeing how they treated customers around me. In the last six months they have failed to get one prescription correct and due to health issues in my household I have been spending hundreds of dollars a month on medicines. The experience from the pharmacy has prompted me to limit the amount of shopping for groceries that I am willing to purchase in a Giant store as well. If that is the training and customer service that I can expect to receive in Giant foods than perhaps it is no longer necessary for my business to be given to the company. They have a serious customer service and training issue in the pharmacy #310 and the level of service is almost nil. I would strongly suggest re-evaluating the customer service procedures within the store before they see a marked decline in business.

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland Overcharging

Giant Food Stores has developed a pattern over the past 8-10 months or so of overcharging at the cash register for items purchased at their grocery store. The scam works as follows:
1. Unlike its competitors, Giant does not guarantee scanner accuracy at the register. If an item scans an incorrect price, the best you can do is stand in the long customer service line to recover the difference between the overcharge and the actual price. In other words, Giant forces you to do all the work to get the price you were promised on the shelf. By contrast, Weis Markets, a competitor to Giant here, guarantees that its scans are accurate. If Weis scans the price wrong, the item is free (up to $10).
2. By not guaranteeing its scanner accuracy, and by forcing customers into the arduous process of dealing with customer service, Giant actively discourages its customers from holding it accountable. How many people will stand in line for 30 minutes to recover a dollar, or 50 cents? Not many. And when Giant is called on a scanner error, it cannot lose. It simply must sell the product for the advertised price and not the overscanned price.
3. Failure to guarantee scanner accuracy -- such as Weis' system of giving away the product if it scans wrong -- removes any incentive by the store to get things right. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain, because many customers will either fail to notice or choose not to pursue the actual price because of the delay created by dealing with customer service. This IS HAPPENING NOW AT GIANT. For one example, their soup at the hot bar scanned higher than the posted price for at least TWO MONTHS before they finally changed it (following my second complaint). If this item had been walking out the door for free you'd better believe this would have been fixed immediately.
4. Giant should reinstate its former scanner guarantee -- similar to Weis -- and hold its managers accountable. I've asked to speak to a manager three times and have yet to meet any such person at Giant.

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland Smelly Store

I have always shopped at Giant Food stores in Virginia. I happen to love food and over the last four years or so, I have put on a few pounds. Specifically, I stand at 5'3'' and I used to weigh about 150 pounds. Today, I tip the scale at about 320 pounds. Prior to losing the weight, I went to a Giant Food Store in Virginia and I was an acquaintance of the manager and employees. As I grew to be larger and larger I decided to go to another store because I was embarassed of what others at the first Giant would think. I decided recently to return to the old store (thinking that it would be okay). I walked in the store and the manager saw me. "Hey it's Hector" he said. And then he said, "Hector! You are fatter than ever!" I began to walk out the store but employees blocked the door and employees and patrons chanted:

HEY FAT BOY HOW ARE YOU
HEY FAT BOY LOOK AT YOU

HEY FATTY WE ARE HAPPY YOURE HERE

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland store manager

Jerry Reinbark is a very rude, ungrateful and very disrespectful to his staff. He has taken items from the shelf and thrown them on the floor and expected the staff member to pick them up because he felt that they didn't know how to level the shelf properly. Jerry has talked to his management staff rudely to the point where he has made them cry. Jerry doesn't give anyone credit for anything that they do even when they are busting their ### to make sure that things are done in a timely fashion. He suspends staff members when he is basically accusing them of doing something that he didn't even see. He tries to make people work schedules that he knows they cant work due to transportation and then takes them off schedule when he finds out he called the union on him. I think this is crazy and needs to be handled before things get out of control and people start taking things into their own hands. Staff members are getting sick and tired of being talked to like they are 2 yrs old. We are just sick in tired of being sick in tired!

I was shopping in your West Grove store and was approached by the store manager Paul. He is very rude and standoffish. The staff doesn't like him either because I shop there regularly they talk to me. You should really find somebody more personal, likeable with people. Please due a investigation into this matter. Ask every employee in that store if they think he is fit to be a store manager? Thank you for your time I will continue shopping there!

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland Stay away from these guys

I brought in a prescription for a refill. This was an early refill, (last fill was on 02/16/2010 at another pharmacy (CVS). The medication was Xanax, a controlled substance. I had just come from my psychiatrists office, and due to the nature of my personal prohlem, she authorized an early refill. I usually fill my prescriptions at the CVS near my home, but went to the reston Giant as it was close to my doctors office.

I was called back to the pharmacy and one of the techs told me this was a controlled substance and since I had had it refilled somewhere else previously it could not be be refilled. I told her my doctor, (who had also written the previous prescription on February 15th) was aware that it was an early refill and had written it nontheless. As I was standing there, she went back to a Mr. Susco and told him tis. He ROLLED his eyes and said in a scarcastic voice, "I suppose I'll refill it, but if has to make one wonder why". This was said loud enough for me and another customer to hear, as well as the three other techs who were behind the counter. (I know two of the heard him say this)

She came back and said it was ok to refill, I gestured to Mr. Susco and said "Does he have anything he would like to add?" She got flustered and said, "No, he just said it was OK". I was highly insulted and embarrased and approached the counter toasked if I could have Mr. Suscos first and last name. A pharmacist asked why and I said I wanted to file a complaint. She asked why. I said that I felt that if he was going to make snarky comments about an early refill on a sedative medication without knowing my personal history, then perhaps he should have said it out of earshot of the customer (me).

Whether I fill this RX at CVS or Giant is not anybodys business, and what I am going through in my personal life is also nobodys business. He had no right to comment on a customers medication, and he certainly had no right to roll his eyes and imply that "one has to wonder why' I was getting an early refill. It just so happens that my husband is dying and I am having a hard time dealing with it. I was so upset and shaking that I could hardly sign my name.I was humiliated and shocked by his lack of professional conduct. He also looked panicky when he heard me ask for his name.

No pharmacist should be able to make remarks like that in front of a customer.

The Giant at Kline Village in Harrisburg, Pa is totally falling apart. Equipment is faulty, staff is almost non-existant, and I'm tired of seeing only 1 tech in the pharmacy and a line of people lined up and hearing the phone go off every 20 or 30 seconds. I need my medicine. Why is this particular store understaffed? Any other Giant in Harrisburg has plenty of staff. Long lines at the registers and no managers around. David, in the pharmacy is a pleasure. He has no help and he still tries to do as much as he is able. He is honest, even though most of the customers don't like to hear honesty. Becky and Al, the pharmacists, do a great job, but I hear the frustration when everyone wants stuff NOW... I'm sorry to say, but not everyone can get their stuff now... Someone has to wait. I take cancer meds and pain pills and they treat me like gold. That store needs HELP... Or better management. I suspect it needs better management.

Giant Food / Giant of Maryland Bad customer service

Food Giant Customer Service in Columbus, MS is very unprofessional! Some customers are ignored, while others are favored and are tended to first! Employees are slow to respond to the needs of customers, and the dining area of the grocery is very unclean! It is very unfair for customers, who work just as harder or even harder, to be treated like garbage. I hope the employee attitude of Food Giant is changed very soon. I don't recommend any one to use their customer service desk until new, responsible employees are hired. It is a shame. This is the only complaint I have against this store.

I went shopping at Giant Food in Kentlands, MD. Normally, I like the store. At the moment I am disabled with a plastic boot covering my food and lower leg. Walking is difficult but walking backwards is nearly impossible. I was standing at the end cap for Thomas English Muffins. Someone was restocking that shelf. He could have asked me what I needed. He didn't. He insisted that I move backwards so that he could pass in front of me with his rolling cart. I had to walk backwards because there didn't seem to be enough room for me to turn around. I could have fallen. I mentioned this to the manager who said he was sorry and he would speak with that person. To be honest he sounded he sounded insincere, so I left. I realize times are difficult right now, but this kind of behavior was rude, lazy and dangerous for me. Lenore Straus nora.straus@gmail.com
