Gerhard's Appliances Delivered USED DISHWASHER WITH WATER AND MOLD INSIDE

We live in California, I ordered a Bosch Dishwasher high end...$2, 000 from them, promised to be delivered in a week...I should have known better. I do now! Wanted to save the tax, and they had it for $200 cheaper online. What a mistake! Ordered Nov 5...got email said it shipped Nov 7...waited a week then called the freight company they use, Pilot freight, out of Philly. They said Gerhard's NEVER SENT THE PAPERWORK...so it was still at Gerhard's Warehouse! OK, I phone the store ask for the Manager, which his name is ZACH...said he knew nothing about this. I told him Linda Gerhard took the order . Said he would check and call back! Believe me, these people do not call back...I had to do all the calling...I did get a couple of calls in between though...well, ZACH said they would EXPEDITE SHIPMENT, and it would go that day...Well, the day before Thanksgiving it arrives...We told the Delivery guy we wanted to look at the Dishwasher outside before he left it inside. Well, he said yes, you should look, there are holes in the plastic! THERE WAS NO BOX...just a piece of plastic? It get's much worse...opened the door to the Bosch Dishwasher...inside was WATER AND MOLD! On the outside were several dents, in the stainless steel! I went in the house to call GERHARD'S.because to refuse delivery, it says to call first! OK, get Zack on the phone...tell him about the dents, and MOLD AND WATER, and yes, the hose was also still attached on the used dishwasher! Hose has mold where it was inserted also. Listen to this: ZACH say's ALL DISHWASHERS COME WITH WATER INSIDE! What? I have NEVER had water and mold in any dishwasher we have ever bought, either have our neighbors that had gathered around! So, Zach say's to me "I don't want your business anyway"! This was the day before Thanksgiving, last Wednesday, we had 18 people coming...These people have NO business, being in Business! Horrible, horrible, people! Well, Friday we went to PACIFIC SALES, in Rancho Mirage, Ca and bought the same dishwasher...which we got $400 in rebates...actually cheaper to pay the tax...this BOSCH will be delivered this next Wednesday by a reputable company, and great sales people, that have Customer Service skills!

Gerhard's Appliances customer service

Short and sweet. Avoid Gene at ALL costs. This guy just wants to make the sale, then he's out of there. Our concerns, priorities and desires were IGNORED completely by this schmoozy, unresponsive salesman. Let the ball drop again and again - drawn out for months, then left us with a bundle of issues and appliances that did not address our requests. Long story short - we are stuck for the next 15 years with a load of appliances that did not fit our criteria. ENORMOUSLY DISAPPOINTING. We'll be living with Gene's lack of interest in our experience for years to come.

Oh. Where to begin? If I could select more than one category of complaint I would have many to choose from. We bought from them based on their promise of superior customer service. We have never seen them make good on that promise. At first when we puchased an approx. $2, 000 Frigidaire Professional Refrigerator it was delivered with a mal-fitting freezer handle. Six months later and countless service visits later we had to keep hounding them to repair it, install a proper one, or in any other way get a handle on our freezer. At every turn we felt treated as a bother and no exceptional customer service was given to us to make us happy. EVENTUALLY we got a handle. As I said, about SIX MONTHS after delivery after CONSTANT pressure on them.

Now a year-and-a-half into our extended warranty they sold us on, our ice maker stopped working. Six repair visits later, still no ice maker. Most recently, they sent out their "top guy" Mark, who diagnosed it as a bad solenoid or something like that. He said it should take 2 weeks to order. Three weeks later, no call. I called in, and mysteriously the part had arrived that same day. We scheduled a service date (again, our 5th or 6th one!) and when Mark arrived he did NOT have a solenoid, what he had was a standard water filter that anyone can purchase at a Home Depot. When I asked him how this could happen, he claimed he didn't even remember being at our house 3 weeks prior. Eventually his memory started to return and he said he would have to get back to us. I calmly told him that I have had enough and that they really need to get their act together. He said he would do just that, and hung up on me, huffed to my wife and left our house.

I have spoken about a dozen times with the head of customer service, Sonja, who speaks a good game but has never delivered. Most recently I told her I wanted to speak with a Gerhard or anyone with a financial interest in this business and she said I could mail a letter but that he probably wouldn't get it. She then said, give me one more chance to make it right. Bob (I believe) who was head of service called me, I missed his call, and now have returned his call numerous times in the past 2 weeks, asking him to call me. No avail.

My wife and i have NEVER encountered such a company. We want to do everything possible to protect other consumers from making our mistake and dealing with this company. A quick check of web-based review sites will show that we are certainly not alone in this experience.

Please help us protect others!

Hello daveveal,

On behalf of Frigidaire, I want to thank you for choosing your Professional Series of Frigidaire kitchen appliance for yourself and your family. What you explain seems to be a very unfortunate but uncommon series of events. I would like to express my sincerest apology for these events.

It is our passion to design and manufacture quality appliances that work proficiently, providing years of useful service to you and your family. We certainly want to restore your confidence in the Frigidaire brand because it is individuals like you who care enough to choose us among the many appliances manufacturers in the world.

Please email chris.polk @ Frigidaire.com with your full name, serial number, phone number and date of purchase so I can research your history to determine if there is anything else I can do to regain your trust in Frigidaire. We appreciate every opportunity to serve good folks like you and your family, and would certainly welcome another chance to make things right.

I look forward to your response!

Gerhard's Appliances Awful place

They advertised an incredible deal on an incredible TV. I rushed in to buy it. I was told I needed to buy it immediately because they only had one left. 3 days later I was told it was gone, but they would substitute a lesser model. The salesman was rude and arrogant from the time I entered the store. He makes used care salesmen look good. The owner is as arrogant as his sales force. I thought it would be good to buy from the local appliance store instead of the big box stores. I thought you'd get better service. I've been treated better in the large chain stores. I'll never set foot in their store again. I'd tell anyone to shop around in the bigger stores and let them match the prices. At least they'll stand behind their products and contracts. GERHARD'S BREAKS CONTRACTS, PLACES TEASER ADS, AND DOES THE OLD FASHIONED BAIT AND SWITCH!

This is probably the worst company I have ever dealt with. Please do yourself a favor and read the countless online reviews from people that had similar bad experiences. I ordered my appliances January 8 from a sales person named Zach Hessee (zman8611@gmail.com or zach@gerhardsappliance.com), who seemed nice at the time. Once my order was taken it was completely different. It took three calls just to get a receipt for the order I just placed. Here it is February 20 and I am supposedly getting my appliances tomorrow, which will be the now fourth “scheduled delivery time.” I have been calling and emailing to get information and I know my frustration has come across to them, because they did the easy thing and started ignoring me. I have left 7 messages that have not been returned and sent 15 emails, to which I have gotten two responses and none in the last 2 weeks. I know this may sound obsessive, but I renovate houses for a living and when you have a completely finished house that has to sit vacant for 2 weeks (and counting) due solely to missing appliances there are going to be several pissed off people. This is particularly true given that I ordered them four weeks before I needed them and was told it’s only a one-week lead time. It is obvious that the company’s philosophy is to pull customers in with cheap prices, but then once you’ve ordered it doesn’t matter. There is no return policy, seriously I have checked and been told that.

I have had a horrible experience with Gerhard's this week. Their women in finance talked to me as if i had stolen the appliance from their store. Never shop at this store, you are better off going to Sears, Best Buy or anywhere else. They just cannot resolve any issues and don't regret any mistakes they have made.

I've dealt with Gerhard's in Doylestown and have had similar experiences. Also a supporter of local, small businesses I chose to make my major purchases here. Big mistake. Maybe purchasers of Wolf or Subzero brands get customer care, but I just got attitude. Wish I'd walked away and shopped the chains - at least they'd have returned my phone calls. Should have been a fun experience, instead it was like pulling teeth, me doing the work, begging for attention, for the privilege of purchasing a mere $8, 000 worth of appliances. No noble family business here - they're in it exclusively for the $$$$.

Horrible experience with indifferent, or even argumentative sales people in Ardmore. Messed up order multiple times. Didn't tell me fridge was back ordered when i bought it. Only found out when other appliances were delivered. On next delivery dishwasher had big dent in it. They then had the nerve to ask me to sit around waiting on my third 3-4 hour delivery window. No thanks. Avoid these clowns.

Just drove to Gerhards for the first day of their "BIG SALE" event. The sales flyer they mailed out listed a selection of televisions that they never had. The salesman claimed the"other store" ran their sale a week sooner and sold all of the TV's...please. He tried to sell me a plasma LG...no thanks. I came for the Samsung LCD. Gerhards used to be an honest family business. What a disappointment.

From all of us at Gerhard's, we are terribly sorry for this inconvenience. However, I can assure you that this was by no means a 'bate and switch' tactic.

We've been in business for over 50 years, and it is because of our commitment to our customers that we have survived all this time. In that same spirit, we have recently established a new Customer Service Department, to ensure the highest level of communication and service for our valued customers.

Again, we apologize that you were not happy with your experience, but be assured that we had no intention of misleading you.

Best Wishes,

The Gerhard's Team

As an avid Gerhard's shopper I have to disagree with you. I have found to be true if they only have a certain amount of of a discounted item that runs out, they will do their best to substitute the item with something else. It may be a few dollars more but it is always better.

I'm confused by your post.

It says that you were told that if you wanted the TV, to buy immediately because they were going fast. Then, you WAITED THREE DAYS, and when you went back it was gone. BIG SURPRISE! If you really wanted the TV, you should not have waited to buy it when it was on sale, and you were warned that they were selling quickly.

RUNNING OUT OF INVENTORY IS NOT A BAIT & SWITCH!

In my 6+ years of dealing (exclusively) with Gerhard's I have been nothing if not satisfied by their service and integrity. They are a small local business and it is in all of our best interests to patronize them.
