GeeksWorld.co geek world services

They scammed my parents, out of close to 800.00 They kept asking for $$ and saying we were infected they were the ones infecting them. They have their credit card numbers and everything...do NOT use these losers! They kept saying let me show you what is on your computer, they take advantage of older people who know nothing about computers...tell them you work in IT and see how soon they back off...all you need is something like malwarebytes!

GeeksWorld.co computer service

I thought that I was in a contact with HP for the representative told me that it was HP Support service. I signed up for a life time service for $399.00 and want my money back. I was told that this would be a life time guarantee and that the representative will place the number for me to call on my computer. It says HP Support 1-800-4900334. I called the service a few months later and I did not get through so I looked up the HP support and they told me that it wasn't their number and that I was scammed.
Needless to say I was shocked for everything seemed honest enough for I have never had any problems with companies in the past. The agreement was done on November 23, 2017 and I did not call again until March 2018. I did look up their number and when I called they told me that I needed to get virus protection and I told them that I had a lifetime contract. They insisted I needed more but I refused.

What can I do?

GeeksWorld.co internet tech support scammer

Customer ID: GT1608246
October 29th, 2017
Dear Natilia;
BBB Tip: Tech Support Scams
In this con, scammers pose as tech support employees of well-known computer companies and hassle victims into paying for their "support."
You are told only a tech support employee can fix the problem, and you're asked to allow access to your machine. Once access is granted, the caller will often run a "scan" and claim your computer is infected with viruses. The scammer then offers to fix the problem...for a fee.
That may not be the end of the scam. If you allow remote access, malware may be installed on your machine. Malware often scans files in search of personal information, which scammers can use to commit identity theft.
Tips to Spot This Scam:
Never give control of your computer to a third party unless you know it is the representative of a computer support team you contacted.
To report a scam, go to BBB Scam Tracker.
To learn how to protect yourself, go to "10 Steps to Avoid Scams
Last reviewed: March 2, 2017
***************************************************************************
I was taken advantage of by this Tech Support Scan. And their name is GEEKS-WORLD. I thought I had called HP Computers Tech Support, and was even told by the "scammer", that I was speaking to HP Support. My computer is made by HP.
The "HP" representative showed me that I had contracted the Wannacry Ransomware Virus. He showed me on my computer that the warning popup said Wannacry, and even went as far as to show me that there was a long list of hackers using my machine. There was even a waiting list to get on to my laptop. (I run Windows 10). I asked them; wouldn't it be cheaper for me just to buy a new computer? The "HP Tech Specialist" showed me diagrams that even if I bought a new computer, (in lieu of paying the 658.00 to have them remove the virus) that because the virus was now in my router, it didn't matter how many computers I bought, they would become immediately infected because the Wannacry virus has now infiltrated my router and my home network. They told me because my computer processes were down to 69% working capacity, once I reached 75%, that every single device on my home network would be destroyed.
The "HP advisor" pointed me to Geeks-World as a solution to remove the virus, and to restore my computer to its original safe state.
I was then transferred to Geeks-World. (Or maybe I was already there?) The Geeks-World tech specialist totally understood my situation, very kind, very empathetic. He told me he would take care of me and I had nothing to worry about. They told me this many times. They used a strong arm scare technique. I couldn't allow letting this to happen to our two iPhones, and 2 iPad airs. I'm afraid I bought into it.
To have this virus removed was 658.00 for two years of service. This would monitor and care for my computer from malware, viruses and any other technical issues that may occur for the next two years.
The first time Geeks-World worked on my computer, they did a good job removing my virus and my computer did become more stable. However, this must have been the point they dropped the malware into my computer. It took a while for the malware to get into my system. I had to call Geeks-World multiple times for additional support for various issues, some new, some old. And I did notice that the services they provided were becoming less & less satisfactory. And there attitude was laisse fare. I became very concerned.
I had bought a True Key App from MacAfee which is a password protection program. I have multiple accounts, and was very pleased with its performance. Suddenly my passwords were being changed. My True Key app from MacAfee had been compromised. I also write my passwords down in a special password book, as a backup. None of them were working so suddenly I am changing all my passwords again. And I shouldn't be.
I called Geeks-World and told the Tech Specialist about my passwords being randomly changed, and I felt as though there was someone in my computer controlling it and changing my passwords. My Tech Specialist response was to tell me it was all okay, to change the password and write it down. I explained I did write them down as well as keep them in my True Key. He said it was no big deal, and to just change them and write them down.
A BIG RED FLAG FINALLY WENT UP!
Next, my iPhone started acting up. Very badly. Shutting down during phone calls, text, and any basically any program I opened up. I couldn't depend on it at all.
I called another Tech support company to help me restore my iPhone. This company is on the Better Business Bureau website with an A+ rating. They showed me that yes; there was malicious malware on my computer. Geeks-World checked it and said there was no malware or viruses on my computer, that I was good to go, just keep writing down those new passwords.
This new company I had to hire, I point blank asked them if my router gets infected by a computer virus, they told me absolutely not. I then called HP, whom I still believed at this point, had pointed me to Geeks-World as their solution to my Wannacry virus issue, said they have NEVER heard of Geeks-World, that the router does not get infected, and wrote down the information that I supplied them with.
HP also supported that the virus does not get into the router as Geeks-World showed me through various diagrams.
I did speak to a woman named Natilia, from Geeks-World, who says they are not affiliated with the BBB, because they do not need to pay the 1800.00 per month to have their company put in there when they are such an outstanding company without them. I say why wouldn't a company want the BBB behind them? It shows they are legitimate, and there is recourse for people to reach out to in case there is an issue with the company, or to give the company a positive rating.
Natilila, from Geeks-world spoke with me for over an hour, and offered me a 5 year contract. I do not feel comfortable working with a company whose service quality goes down, after you have paid. I have been misled and use of scare tactics is just plain wrong. Would I like 5 years of questionable service? I say no thank you.
Thank you for your kind offer Natilia. I see that you were unable to call me back as you had promised. I am sorry you assumed that this contract would smooth things over.
I prorated my original contract with you. 658.00 /24= $27.14 per month * 5 = $137.00. To you.
658.00 - 137.00 = $521.00 Back to me.
The usual time to get refunded is 7 - 10 business days. I will be looking for that return. I did cancel the debit card that I used with you, and the refund will have to be sent in a check form.
I am prepared to pursue other avenues, if we do not come to an understanding between us.
Thank you for your time and cooperation with this matter.

GeeksWorld.co Fraudulent business practices

When my HP printer would not print, late at night as I prepared for a presentation, I quickly search for help online. Finding a HP Support link, I was soon online with a "support" person, based in Pennsylvania. I was told that there were major problems with my printer that had affected my Mac and that I would need intensive work done, including new software. A computer card was requested so I complied. The technician took remove control of my system and began doing something, although I have no clue as to what it was. End result is that several programs were deleted, including MacKeeper which is used for regular maintenance. I was the informed that my charge would be a total of $179.00, which included one year maintenance, a new virus package and and additional charge for the technician.
When I tried to print, still nothing happened. I was told that I needed a new print cartridge and to call service later if I had any questions. I inserted my new cartridge and had no problems.
When I discovered that my programs were deleted, I immediately called the service number and asked for immediate reimbursement and restoration of my system to the way it was. I was informed that I could upgrade my package to a more expensive one, if I wanted additional help. My request for help was then put on hold, then shuttled from one person to another with no one wanting to address the problem. After my call being dropped for the third time, I realized that these people were nothing but scammers.
The sad part, is that when I filed a claim with my bank, Bank of America, nothing was done as they accepted their word, although I had full records of all correspondence. Bottom line . . . it took me two to get restored on my own, but still out 179.00. GeekWorld . . . wish I could get my hands on you!

I'm having the same Geek World experiences as described herein. Now ...they call me every day 1x, 2x 3x a day. They have been ordered by a federal court to refund me my money . All I need to do is to get on my computer, type in a code they provide, agree to the refund on screen, and my refund will transfer from their bank acct directly into my bank acct. Imagine that! Sure, Geeks World...scammed once, shame on you. Scammed twice, shame on me. Not gonna happen. Send me a certified check . I have not answered 37 calls so far this month...January 2019.

Thanks all for sharing your experiences as a warning to others to beware. I've had similar experiences with GeeksWorld & the subsequent scammers claiming to offer refund for "tech support" (which I quickly recognized as SCAM). But now GW is trying to scare me into purchasing additional security/support (my one time $200 plan just expired). After following my instinct & researching, I've declined continuing "service" with GW. Of course they do sound sincerely concerned about my computer security, so I want to ensure I'm not missing something else I should be doing for protection. Which leads me to ask...

@thirstyphoenix (Thank you for your suggestions, By the way).
Q: As a MAC user, if I routinely run Malwarebytes (FREE AV app... in case people don't know), my MAC personal firewall is ON, and i have a good, updated wifi router, is there a need for additional network/IP security? If so, what's the best choice for MAC OS? Thanks in advance. Good luck to us all.

I have been receiving calls from Geek World about refunding my money for Tec support that had paid for last year. And they were ordered to shut down. They are NOTHING BUT SCAMMERSSSSSSS. all Indian that your speak to even when u call. Phone # galore. Just spoke with a Max, which probably isn't even his name. Gave me a direct # to him. I told him he was full of it. And of course I get I don't understand Mame. Mame my [censored]. My computer is screwed up since then. All I was doing was looking for help with my HP printer just like the rest of u. And we all have the same story. I'm getting in touch with the FBI. Lets see what they can do?

I also had a similar experience. I'm ashamed to say I fell for it 2 times. The first time I only paid 200 dollars. I bought a new printer and once more they came on and suggested it was a free HP service. This time they got me for 400 dollars. part of the package was for WiFi protection. Again my computer showed alerts and they tried to sell me Ransomeware at a very inflated price. When I asked the tech to explain again so I could do some research., he got nasty and hung up. After the call, it took some time to realize they were still in my computer. I hung up and saw they had flooded my desk top with various things. I deleted everything and changed all the passwords. I went to Norton and paid much less for the services but now Norton is saying that I don't have WIFI protection on my computer.
Now I am concerned about identity fraud and I don't know if they are still protecting me after paying for 4 year protection.

Norton is a crap AV. So is McAfee. They might as well be malware; they're usually sticky (hard to remove) ... there is even a special 'removal tool' for each of them because they can be so difficult to uninstall. If you want a free AV and you're running Win10, use Defender. If you're running Windows7 or (G*d forbid) Win8 (I'm so sorry if you do) use Essentials. They're better than both of the aforementioned and won't bug the snot out of you with pop ups asking you to upgrade. If you think you need to spend $$ on an AV, Kasperky and Eset are both good.

Back in July 2017 my printer also wouldn't work. I could see where something was "stuck" and would not allow anything to print and I could not delete it from the que. When I called the place where I got my computer I was told since it was my printer I had to call HP. Just like the rest of you I got referred to Geeks World. They fixed my problem for a fee, approx. $280 for two year service contract. Everything was fine. Then in December 2017 my hard drive messed up and had to have it replaced. My local tech support fixed it. Hard drive was replaced for free but there were other costs involved (of course). But never gave it a thought that it might have had to do with Geeks World messing with it until now. Because I got a call from them yesterday asking me to call as they were "getting some kind of a security alert" from my network. That made me suspicious. So before I called back I looked up my old paperwork to compare phone numbers. They are not the same and the one I had is no longer working. So I googled them and came across this site with your comments. Thanks for the information. I'm not calling back.

I was scammed by Geeks World. I bought a 5yr plan from them. I paid $765 .After one year I called them to renew my malware and webroot security as I had already paid for it. I was told that I would need to pay another $415 for additional " Microsoft software support". I was led to believe that this was required by Microsoft. My credit card was charged for $415. Fortunately I realised it was a scam in time, and cancelled my payment. This is a fraudulent company. When you talk to them, they do not even give you their real name. You know its a guy from India calling himself "Frank Martin" or "Jack Stevens". Beware of this company. If you need tech support, find somebody in your town.

Oh my goodness. The same thing happened to me. HP printer wouldn't print. Called HP help desk. The specialist took control of my computer ( a pretty common practice). I watched him perform numerous functions to get my computer current. It's an old computer; so, I could fully understand how it might need a lot of files updated. He worked with me a good 45 minutes. I was so impressed with this articulate, seemingly very competent professional. They've got swanky contracts and they make you feel like you're in good hands. This was January, 2018 and my printer still doesn't work. There are no returned emails; they don't respond to phone calls. They gave me this customer Id and made me swear to keep it accessible but confidential. In the end, I'm out of more than $200 for service I didn't get and $200 for a printer that doesn't work. I'm finally checking online to see if I'm the only one who has experienced this SCAM. It saddens me to find that so many people were taken in by them. Buyer beware!

It sounds like the same thing that I went through. I had already purchased protection from GEEKS WORLD and they said if I evey have any problems to call them- I paid $323.99 for their services on June 27, 2017. On December 7, 2017 I had an flash alarm go off on my computer saying that I was to call the 800 number immediately for my Microsoft program was compromised. I did and they tried to sell me services to fix my computer for a fee. I then called GEEKS WORLD and they said YOU LET SOMEONE IN YOUR COMPUTER AND NOW ALL THE LICENSES ARE GONE AND TO FIX IT WILL COST YOU $300+ - I told them NO WAY ! Then he tried to say I WILL GIVE YOU AN EXTRA TWO YEARS FOR THAT - I said you haven't given me the first 3 years I already paid for! They said they can't do anything about that if I didn't pay. I told them we'll see about that. !

I will TELL EVERYBODY NEVER TO USE GEEKS WORLD EVER - THEY ARE A SCAMMMMMM AND A THIEF !

Janice Jipping - I am with you in pursuing other avenues - Let me know.

I feel your pain and frustration. I have been communicating with a woman named Natilia. She has promised me a refund of $400.00. She said they did refund me to the credit card I used to purchase their product. $666.00.
However, that card has been destroyed, so now we are waiting for the money to bounce back and she was going to talk to the accountants about a check form of payment.
What I did to inspire this was wrote a complaint to the BBB, explaining everything that has happened to me and Geeks-World. And how I would like it resolved. I deducted the days from the payment. And sent it to Geeks World in an email.
And I called, and called, and called.
Nailia's extension number is 402.
Please do not use my name, at least not yet. (I'm afraid it might cause more delays). She is out of the office for this week.
Please keep me posted of how it goes for you. They are scammers.
Also I have found another company that I am happy with. I had a scammer call claiming to be my anti-virus.
I foolishly let them in, However my new company, similar to Geeks world and has an A+ at BBB. Geeks-World don't even deal with the BBB. Said there is no reason for them to pay $1800.00 per month when they are so outstanding. Anyway, my new SupportTeq computer service went right in and removed the scammer. So I believe it can be done. That's what we paid them for, right? I'd be scared to use there services though.
Try for the refund, and hopefully we can both count our blessings...
Best wishes, Janice
One more thing I did. I backed up to iCloud and wiped my hard drive clean and started over. This is supposed to get rid of any worms, Trojan horses and viruses that may be lingering around.

Hi. I know this thread is over a year old and you may not even see it, but maybe it will help someone.
I hate to break it to you, but SupportTeq are scammers too. I repair computers for a living, and clearing malware and browser hijacks are literally half of our business. PLEASE, for the love of G*d, don't let ANYONE YOU DON'T KNOW take remote access of your computers! PERIOD! Take it to a local computer repair shop, they will clean you up for (usually) less than $100.
