I am writing this letter to advise the public on my dissatisfaction with the purchase of a 48"GE Monogram refrigerator.

We built a home in Draper, Utah and moved in on May 5, 2005 . We had all GE appliances, including a 48" Monogram fridge. In the beginning of August of 2005 we found the fridge had leaked al over our hardwood floor in the kitchen. We had purchased the extended warranty. After a few tries the insurance paid for the damage and the GE repairman changed the icemaker and so it seemed that things were going to work now.

Exactly a year later, on August 22, 2006 we found that there was water leaking in the basement ceiling and all over the kitchen floor. This time the damage was a lot more extensive. We have been trying to get the repair to the damage and the fridge since then but the GE services have been a total disaster. Since it's been 2 months now there is mold growing under the hardwood floors. I must say that besides the outrageous cost of this fridge and the poor perfomance, GE has really failed in it's customer service. Even one of the installers that came to try to move the fridge said that I should get a new fridge, since it was the second time that the same thing happened.

I will not be purchasing a GE product again.

Sandra, a totally disastisfied customer

I have I monogram, 48" build in, purchased in 2005 also. This thing has had more repairs than anything I have ever owned. They keep charging me 99.99 for the call and replace the part for free, the same part. Meanwhile they say they have not had many complaints on the Monogram, I find that hard to believe. Currently I am having a problem again with the temperature boards. It was just replaced 2 months ago and is acting up again. It had been replace the year before. This is the biggest piece of crap I have ever owned and they want to do a replacement exchange and charge me more that I originally paid for the refrigerator! Ge has gone soooo down hill. It is very disappointing.

GE Monogram side-by-side thin profile refrigerator freezer is the biggest piece of crap I have ever owned in any home. I have had the ice maker replaced SIX (6) times! Yes, their service was responsive, but SIX TIMES in less than 2-years for a non-functional part? It's screwing up again, clogging the down-pipe with ice, which then falls all over the floor when you stop the grinder and open the freezer door. This has happened several times too. "The quality goes in before the name goes on!" is the old slogan of GE. I know why they stopped using it, because it was a lie.

Sounds like a lot of customers are getting ripped off by GE. I watch Top Chef and feel bad for all the people out there who see those Monogram appliances and think that if it is good enough for that show then it must be great for them. Same story about the high price, extended warranty, technicians who don't even want to deal with the problem. The last one to come out said that when they hear "rust" the company won't even deal with you anymore. I decided that I'm going to plaster the Internet with complaints. If I still do not get satisfaction from GE at least I can do the civic minded duty of warning anyone who looks around on the net to buy Sub-Zero!

We have a GE monogram too. We even purchased the extra warranty because after 8 years, the fridge is already breaking down. I've been on hold for a total of 7 + hours (all together) and have spoken to atleast 15 different representatives. The technician keeps repairing the same problem every 2 months and after 1 1/2 years of the same problem, the technician doesn't want to come out to my house anymore to fix the same problem. We've tried so many different solutions from changing out the door, to the ice machine to you name it, they've tried it. My "claim" is under review and the offer doesn't even cover a replacement fridge (of similar quality - not even close). I seriously think they just used a formula and doubled up the cost of the warranty I already paid for in full. I lost a lot of food during the process...ice forms on the wires and eventually ices up the inside of the fridge and ices up the fan so I hear an awful noise for days until the ice gets melted somehow. My claim has gotten lost, there's been mistakes and I've been told it's gone to the higher up people in management. I've tried to remain positive about this whole experience, but I feel GE is taking advantage of people. So..the best advice I can give, do not by a GE product because if you ever need to make a claim on it, you're going to have a hard time getting anything repaired, fix or brought to being whole again. Thank you for letting me vent.
