My promotional purchase (fees for dental service) was to become due on June 6/11/06. On 5/14/06 I had my credit card send an electronic payment for the entire principle of the loan. I have the confirmation number of this transaction. For some unknown reason, which GE Money Bank has refused to explain, this payment was returned to my credit card. Immediately upon the notice of its return, I sent a letter to them asking for the reason for the return of the electronic payment. I have the letter from my credit card company to substantiate this rejection. I then replied with two payments within the specified time. I was overseas at the time, and although I immediately made payment, GE Money Bank did not credit the payments to my account until June 17, 2006. Of course, this made the payment APPEAR to be delinquent. Since then, I have sent at least 9 letters, including documentation, called their toll free number numerous times. Each time I called I was told to put my complaint in writing. Each written response was followed with a form letter asking me to phone their toll free number. One representative suggested that I might FAX the information. I did this TWICE and never received the courtesy of a reply. Meanwhile, the account has been referred to a collection agency and finally to an attorney. The total amount GE claims that I now owe in finance charges and late fees is $2,126.76 ALL IN INTEREST and LATE FEES. Although the federal and state consumer regulations state that the creditor must answer written complaints within a specified time, this has yet to be done.

I called on 10/13/10 because I inadvertely paid GEMB a payment that was suppose to go to my car payment. I called and spoke to a Roger. After three times trying to verifying my address, he finally got it right. At the end, I asked to speak to a supevisor. He would not transfer me until I told him why. So I did. Supervisor gets on the phone and I tell her. She said, "Sir people make mistakes." I said, "Yes, I understand that but three times." She said, "Sir you are rude for repoting something like this." I said, "I am the customer and I want to make sure a refund was issued to me and that it was going to the right address. How is that being rude." She again told me I was a rude person and this call was done. Then she hung up.

I called back to get another rep. I told them I wanted to speak to a supervisor. She asked why and I told her. This supervisor named Gaberial istened to what I had to say. However, when I went t clarify something he said because I wasn't understanding, he proceeded to tell me that I was a rude person and that he already answered my question. I said, "Sir, how is me asking questions to clarify something you said being rude." He said, "You are a rude person, I wish you a good day. Good bye." Yet he didn't hang up. So I kept talking. He came on and again told me I was rude.

I can not believe GEMB has people like this working for them.

Unbelievable all the complaints against GE Money Bank here. Thanks to all of you complaint writers - I only submitted my application, and not doing business with them... yet. If it weren't for all your complaints, I would be a victim too.

At a gas station, one of their solicitors walked up to my car and offered me a deal - a $5.00 discount on gas purchase that day - 20% discount for a month, and future purchases with 10% discount.

So I gave the solicitor my completed application form (for Chevron and Texaco credit card). About 3-4 months later (MUCH longer than a normal application takes), I received an unsigned letter from GE Money Bank, with no name and no phone number, saying they could not verify my credit number, phone or address. This is absurd! I've had the same contact information for two years, my credit score is 821 out of 850 (nearly perfect), and they cannot verify my identification? And won't give me the credit card. Unbelievable.

The letter asked me to write them at their El Paso, TX address with questions about their letter or their decision to deny me credit.

I am soooooo grateful to all of you who wrote the complaints online here, and I will absolutely NOT do any business with these illegitimate thieves.

I will be contacting Chevron and Texaco to see if they are aware that GE Money bank is soliciting their business with such unethical business practices.

you just dont get it do you.. the company is not scamming you.. they are not a bad company or a corrupt company out to get you.. just because they arent willing to back out of the terms of a contract you signed because you yell and scream you didnt read it, does not mean that are a bad company. it means you are a bad consumer and should be complaining about yourself not them

ooooooh i see well excuse me. I didnt realize that it was ok for you to complain but not ok for someone to respond to it and let you know that your claims are absurd . I forgot that its ok for you to say something but not ok to get a reply back. Grow up you hypocrite. That is exactly what a site like this is hear for. You get the chance to complain as a consumer. I am a consumer sick of lazy people like you blaming companies for your own mistakes. I am able to voice that and will continue to do so. Hypocrite

So she sent the payment.. It was NOT recieved by GE.. so she recieved a late fee and interest on the late fee.. then later the payment was finally recieved way after the payment was due.. So clearly this is not her fault or GEs fault. I understand its not her fault that it got lost in the mail. It is not GEs fault either though. If this was her first LF they would have waived it. It would be wrong of me to assume that she sent the payment late and lied about sending it on time.. It would also be wrong for you to assume that GE had it the whole time and just decided not to cash it. Clearly this was a mail error. It is not uncommon. I think a lot of problems would be resolved if consumers stopped assuming companies are giving them the run around and just accept the fact that things happen. GE dosnt HAVE to waive any fee. they could just throw up their hands and make no exceptions. They know though that mistakes do happen that is why they allow a late fee removal one time in a 12 month period. That is more than fair considering that do not have to do even that. They do have to draw the line somwhere though to protect from the people that just try to get out of paying everything.

What happen when it's not YOUR FAULT. My mother is 80yrs old. She always paid her bills on TIME. She sent in a MO for the month of November in which GE Money Bank had not received per representative. She called numerous of times and LATE FEES and INTEREST was applied to the regular balance owed. That same MO was cashed by GE Money Bank on February 12. I response to the person that GE Money Bank is NOT unfair, evidentially you work the the company.

GE Money Bank (GEMB) Is not an unfair company that cheats millions out of money. They are a finance company that loans money.. YOU agree to the TERMS and CONDITIONS.. then you forget about them and just focus on the money or merchandise you just purchased. You dont think another thing about it untill something bad happens. I understand you didnt read the terms you just signed and when on your marry way, that is not their fault though.. that is your own fault for not reading and abiding by the terms. and just for the record, to respond to some of the various comments. they do NOT hold payments to charge you late fees, they want your money, it costs them more to chase you around trying to get it, they would rather get it the first time.. They dont cheat you out of anything, your laziness or lack of responsiblity cheats yourself. They are fair, they do abide by all laws they are great company. I have 2 precious ge money accounts that Ive since closed because I payed them off and I have one current ge money loan that Im currently paying off. I have had no issues. I did get one late fee and they said they would waive it as a one time courtesy and would not waive any more for atleast 12 mos. If I get another late fee im not going to call them and piss and moan, Im going to suck it up and know it was my fault. There nothing wrong with calling and asking them to help you out, Im not against that, but there is something wrong with getting all bent out of shape and degrading their name just because they didnt help you or things didnt go your way. They are a very reputable company and I will continue to business with them because they have proven to be a reliable trustworthy company. Pay what you owe, pay on time, and you will be fine.. p.s. READ THE BILLS YOU RECIEVE and READ WHAT YOU SIGN.. You dont have to be head cashier at walmart to figure out what might be a good idea..

Care Credit has just, I feel fraudulantly, attempted to get my checking account numbers and routing numbers in order for me to make a simple payment. They continue to refuse to accept payments by credit or debit card. I will not give out my checking account information to anyone, let alone a credit company being charged with fraud.

The more consumers that can access reliable information in a timely manner to better

Consumers should be able to research finance companies first before making a decision to apply for a finance product.

If consumers can see that GE Money products have distinct disadvantages, that the customer service is poor, the interest rates higher, and the debt collection process is very aggressive and damaging for the consumer it is more likely that consumers will not take up GE Money products.

Loss of business for GE Money and lower profits will really make an impact against GE Money

I have paid my payments on time every month. I have noticed them once in a while not post my payment within the "normal" time period if I pay too close to the due date so they can charge me a late fee.

We sold our bike to a friend and a few months later he was in an accident where the bike was totaled. Our insurance company paid off the bike in full and show they mailed the check on June 21st. They cashed the check by June 29th. We received a letter dated June 30th (we just received it July 6th) saying they never received payment and we need to send payment ASAP. The payoff amount was over $5000. It now shows 2 months past due because every time we call they are extremely rude, won't help at all and say to write in any complaints or demands.

I tried to call them again and they asked for my husband's account number. We always pay online and they don't show the entire account number. I don't get paper statements. I asked if they could look it up by SSN, they said no. They said since I wasn't on the account, my husband had to write in to give permission I could talk on his behalf... why do we have to write in? Just to delay things more?

My husband got on the phone and was transferred numerous times, each person being ruder than the last. Finally he said to the last person they were paid, they cashed the check and they won't get a penny more from us. Then hung up on them.

Not sure what will happen next. But I have a feeling this is why his credit score went down 48 points in the last 2 months with nothing past due, no inquiries, no high balances.

Stay away from GE!

Do not purchase gift cards through Walmart or any other card with GE Money Bank name on it. My mother received a gift card from Walmart in December for $50.00. She has never been able to activate it. Walmart said they can't do anything about it, it's the bank. Each time she has called she looses money on the card. Each month you also loose $5.00 for not using the entire amount. She has less than $10.00 left. This is not right. When you buy a gift card, they have their money and it shouldn't expire or get penalized for not using it. I have reported them to the Ohio Better Business Bureau. A number to contact this company can't be found. You can only email your complaints. This company rips people off. Who reads the print on the back of a gift card. It is a gift and they have their money and still want more from you, by adding fees to something that should not be. This company should be held accountable for their actions and put out of business for riping the American people off.

I charged a large furniture payment with no interest payments for one year. During my first year of payments, I had set up automatic payment through my online bank billing account. Unfortunately, each payment being made arrived on the day after the due date since the payment was being sent via check. I didn''t realize this for about 1 year when I got a notice that my interest rate was now going to go from 0% to 29% their deffault rate. Not only that, they told me that each and every month, GE Money had added a $39.00 late fee to my account and my minimum payment went from $132.00 to $356.00l By the time discovered the late charges since I didn't get paper statements (pays to check your statement each month) they didn't bother to advise that I was late by 1 day each month because they gladly got an extra $39 per month late charge which over 1 year was $468.00. Not only that, when my interest rate adjusted to 29% they said if I paid my account on time for the next year they would consider lowering it to 23%, their standard (ripoff) rate. This company entices individuals to finance through them with teaser rates and then if you mess up, socks it to you royally. After the new banking laws went into effect, I advised them they were legally required to lower my rate after 6 payments not twelve. Well, as I neared that time, I decided to call and advise them that I had to take a pay cut and could they do anything for me. Well amazingly they lowered my interest rate for 6 months to 10%. Then I get a notice saying that once the 6 months is up, my interest rate returns to the 29% despite the law saying they must return your interest rate to the standard rate. I still haven't gotten an answer to see if they will honor this new banking law. I am continuing to make $350 per month payments to pay off this blood thirsty company and promise I will never have an account with GE Money again.

I am reading all these stories and to have had issues with Money Bank. About 2 years ago I purchased a Matress for $1, 700 from matress firm. There lender is GEMB. I was scheduled to pay off account in may of 2010. In march of 2010 I had a balance of labout $50.00 due. My statement said that the minimum due was $15.00, so I went ahead and paid $25.00. The next month I did the same (april I paid 25.00). I was unaware that i was assesed a 39.00 late fee, from march. So by may they said my new balance was now 60+ dollars. They reported me to the credit bureus as 30 days past due and they dropped my credit score from 667 t0 603. A total of 64 points for a $45.00. I tried to contact GEMB many times approxamitely 21 times and spoke to many representatives. I could not understand the representatives because of their heavy Indian accent. None of the representatives spoke good enough English to actually understand me.I expalined my situtaion to them many times, and not one representative could help me, they would not deviate from the computer SCRIPT that was placed in front of them. They were very rude and very unsympathetic. I finally got a person who helped me get a fax number to the headquaters in el paso texas. I faxed in my information and my story and still have not been able to get anyone to help me.
I recently went back to matress firm to try and get there support but they no longer deal with GE MONEY BECUASE THEY HAVE HAD MANY COMPLAINTS ON GE MONEY.
Bottom line is that I was trying to get in a house and GE money really screwed me over, I had to have a 620 on my FICA score and because of them and their inconsistencies I have been having trouble getting into my house. I think Outsourcing labor to different countried should be illegal because of these types of issues. I hope one day that GE money messes with the wrong person and this person takes them to the bank. I am waiting for the day that GE money goes bankrupt!

I can't believe all that I am reading here online regarding GEMB complaints...OMG! I too am a victim it seems. I admit that I fell behind on a balance due, finally I received a call with an offer to pay at least 3/4 of the remaining balance, which was a fabulous offer at the time because I wasn't running away from paying either. so I agreed. The rep and I created a scheudle of 5 payments the first one being the smallest fee and mailed in directly in order to have the offer accepted and the remaining 4 payments were to be withdrawn from my checking account...GREAT! All withing 3 months period. I also was told at the same time that if I'm unable to adhere to the scheduled dates I can call in to make the changes, I had to do this twice, had no problem, they indeed withdrawn the money. Dealing with a ery busy and hectic lifestyle lately, I didn't write down the last payment date, so after making the 4th payment I called in to GEMB and they told me that there are no more scheduled payments left!...I couldn't believe this, I told the rep that there should be one more, but nothing as far as she can see and I wasn't able to find the letter that was mailed to me witht he scheduled payments. So a week or so went by and now I'm getting a text indicating that I missed my monthly payment of $15 and to make the payment as soon as possible...huh? I immmediately called and was told that the arrangement that I had was broken because I didn't "call in " the last payment, now I'm back to oweing the $1700.00, $1, 000 in overlimit fees and late fees! I told them that I had scheduled withdrawls from my checking account and all have been withdrawn except for the last one, and now they're saying that I'm suppose to call it in because that's how it's noted in their computer. They're practically yelling at me and I'm almost having an anxiety attack and in tears!...LITERALLY...I went on the computer to locate the evidence and lo and behold found the memoes that they'd sent me to indicate that they are withdrawing X amount on X day from my checking acc't but here's the deal...on the letter it says that "This letter is to remind you of a transaction, that you verbally authorized by telephne, to make a payment on the account listed above. to make this payment will draw fund from your checking account. And above it's list the Payment Amount, the next line it list "Pay By Phone Date': 2/5/10 and a four digit number the Payment Drawn on: NOW, why does it say "Pay By Phone" when all along it has been checking withdrawls, as stated in the same memo!...

This is the irony and their HUGE ARGUMENT with me and two "Supervisor"s" and two representatives, I must admit the first Supervisor seemed very confused and saw exactly what I saw but couldn't do anything to help me, so she had to transfer me to someone who can...why did she did this, I was in the worst debates of my ENTIRE LIFE...i was left holding the phone with noone else on the other line, my face soaked in tears with blood shot red eyes...No one cared, there was absoloutely any remorse or concern for the individual who adhering to the rules and then they decide not to withdraw the last payment and turn it around and say that I was to call it in! And told me to send it in writing to El Paso, Texas, which i did via Certified Mail March 22, 1010 and til this day have not to hear from them. how does one deal with them...any positive recoveries out there!? virgozg@aol.com

I have had a Chevron gas card since 1992. I have never been late with a payment in all these years until GE Credit Bank got involved. My wife and I were going on an extended vacation so I knew which bills would become due while we were away. I went online to Chevron/Texaco's site to set up an auto payment. This was to be done through my bank checking account. I evidently entered a couple of of numbers wrong so when (what I thought was Chevron/Texaco) the payment request was presented to my bank it was rejected. All the while we were away we checked our e-mail daily. Since Chevron/Texaco had my e-mail address I was under the assumption that they would notify me by e-mail of the problem. I didn't even know GE Credit Bank was involved with Chevron. When we returned there was a letter from GE Credit Bank in our mail. I thought it was a solicitation for a credit card or just junk mail so I threw it out. Big mistake. It was a demand for payment. Thinking nothing was wrong I went to buy gas at a Chevron station using my credit card. The card was rejected. I went inside and the clerk tried to swipe the card but told me it was denied. I called Chevron and they told me of a past due amount. I got the total due and made an e-payment for the whole amount. I thought things were ok. Wrong again. Another letter from GE demanding payment. I got this new problem resolved with Chevron. Went to get gas last week and was denied. I called Chevron again and got a balance due which I paid immediately. This was on a Friday so the payment wouldn't be received by Chevron until Monday. The following day I received a call from GE credit demanding payment in full for an amount more than was quoted the day before. I told the lady from GE credit about the payment I made. She demanded the full amount regardless of the fact that I had paid the day before. I hung up on her. Yesterday I received a letter from GE stating that my Chevron card had been cancelled. I also received a paper bill from Chevron showing the amount due so I paid electronically, called Chevron, spoke to a customer service rep and asked her if my card was cancelled and she said yes but they would gladly re-instate it. I said "no thanks". 18 years of a good working relationship down the drain. All I can say about this experience is "if ignorance is bliss then everybody who works for GE Credit Bank are the happiest sob's walking the face of the earth.

They are obnoxious, harrassing and threatening. I refuse to make any payment to them. I lost my job and couldn't pay my GAP card. Now when I can start making payments, I refuse to just start sending mystery amounts of money over the phone. They will not send anything in writing, which is one of my requirements. I'd rather this be on my credit than pay them. Don't tell them anything, they try to find out where you work and your ss#. DON"T do it.

I have had a similar experience with GE Money through their Care Credit division. In October 2009 I had to have emergency surgery to remove my Galbladder. I had a 2cm gallstone and if it manages to flow into the bile duct, it can explode your gallbladder causing bile to get into your blood (jaundice) and then you need to have major surgery to remove all of pieces of the gallbladder. If it does get to this point, it could also kill you. The surgery center wouldn't do the surgery until I paid in full. I was litterally at the surgery center arguing with the office manager while the surgeon was waiting. I have insurance, but it has a $1500 deductible which I had not planned on using all at once.

Anyways, they convinced me to get a Care Credit card for $500. I make good money and I knew I would pay it off before any interest was due (6 mo.). I made my first payment online before it was due and for more than the minimum amount. I received a call from an automated system on my cell phone one day at work. I don't answer incoming automated calls so I hung up. They called back soon after so I decided to listen to what they had to say. To my suprise my Care Credit bill had not been paid. I was shocked. The automated service put me on hold, after calling me and then told me there weren't enough people to answer my call. Please call back at another time. You called me Care Credit! I called back and spoke to "Adam Smith" in India. He told me the payment had been reversed because my account information had been entered incorrectly. I pay all my bills online and I have never had this problem. In addition, they had given me a late fee, returned payment which put me over my limit so I was given an overlimit fee. "Adam" told me that if I paid him $100 today he would remove all those fees. I was glad to make the payment. I like paying my bills and always do so on time.

December comes and I decided to pay off the rest of the account $400 with some Christmas money I'd received. I made the payment online, knowing that this is the part that tripped me up last time I double checked the account numbers. Remember, I like to pay my bills and was paying the balance before anything was due. Suprise, suprise in January I received a statement for $520.98. What?!? I called India again and the guy I spoke to said the payment had been reversed again. How could this possibly happen? I told him I wanted to pay the $400 I owe them without the $15 phone fee. I also told him I was not going to pay a penny in fees. I tried to pay my bill - twice. Apparently you don't want the money. He said he couldn't remove the $15 phone payment fees. I explained to him that I don't trust the website, since it's worked so well in the past. He wouldn't do it so I asked to speak to someone who could. I got an "accelation specialist" (American) and they told me the same. I told them I refused to pay a fee to make my payment. They gave me an address in Florida. Tomorrow I will mail them a check for $400 and not a penny more. If they want their fee money, they can sue me. Good luck! Put it on my credit report. I own my house, my car and have a college degree. See if I care. I don't need credit anymore.

Bottom line: GE Money and Care Credit is a scam. They make it impossible to make your payments on time and then charge you fees structured to incur additional fees which you cannot control nor remove. I wish I would have had the opprotunity to research this company before I signed that credit card application. This company is terrible and I will NEVER do business with GE Money or GE anything ever again.

You need to contact the Department Of Thrift Supervision. I had a problem that after 6 months of BBB and attorney generals in two states and mine I finally got a call two weeks after The Department of Thrift supervision contacted GE. When a real person actually contacted me from GE she said se was calling me to resolve the issue after they received contact from the Department of Thrift Supervision. You can get their address and e mail on line. There is to many complaints about GE money bank on here and on the web they need to be shut down or maid to stop their illegal business practices.

This seems to be an ongoing problem with this bank and ALL the stores that use it, One would think that with all these people having the same issues with the same bank that someone would step in and close this bank down for illegal activities.
Going to the states attorney gener, writing or calling your representatives, contacting the banking commission and reporting this on media sources doesnt seem to work!?
I had just bought a new bed from sleepy's, and we had to pay half down, and they financed the rest with this bank. The "oral" and "written" contract stated we had 0% interest until 2013, no minimum payments due.
Low and behold, several months later (after making over the monthly payments the entire time) the bank sends us a letter stating they are penalizing us and raising the interest rate, starting jan 1st 2010.
This violates the "contract", (by them)
I will post this on my website www.theliptokreport.webs.com and other places, call and write representatives and the president and ask they start a full congressional banking hearing and put this bank out of business (after they pay back all the money they stole from the people).
It is a shame that no attorney will step forward and represent the people in this robbery,
but you see all the ambulence chasers after the medications, and injuries.
anyone know where this bank is? a protest is a good idea!
Every one should write thier reps and ask for a hearing, investigation, and charges for this illegal activity.
I am colonel john liptok and I fight for the people, by the people against any organization or public figure, we the people have the only say, so speak up and tell your story, take it to the press, or anywhere else public, so others can avoid the bad situation and hopefully someone closes this bank down.

Totally agree, my nightmare started after signing up for automatic payment. It instantly charge me my next month dues without any warning on the GEMoney website it was going to happend the very next day 28 days before the due date. It was only after i saw a penalty fee from my bank that i found out.

I explained to the rep what happened, she was not simpatetic, my next month due was raised without warning compounding the problem. Called again. late fees just because of that stupid atomatic payment. Thety didn't care just gave me the script about no funds in the bank account, even though I explained i have plenty of money to pay the monthly fee but not on that particular day. Since they are in India is ven harder to communicate and their tone of voice was rude. Just trained with a script not to think outside the box.

Once sold, its up to Green Dot to take care of customer service. Calling Walmart will solve nothing.
Call Green Dot. They can issue a refund in 7-10 business days in the form of a check, from what I've been told.

Next time, go with cash, or open a savings account.

I thought that maybe GE Money Bank not sending me my JC Penney statement might have been just one error, but now they started calling me asking me where my payment was for my PayPal account? I didn't know that PayPal was GE Money Bank too! JC Penney refused to credit me the $39.00 late fee, but PayPal did and said they were sorry, especially when I said that this was the second time. Are they doing this on purpose because I checked with the post office after not getting my Penney's bill and there is somebody home to get the mail every day, and the post office is less than a mile from the house. Is GE doing this to customers so that they can raise their interest rates and how is it my responsibility to make sure that they send me a statement? I have now written the payment date on my calendar to make sure that if they pull this again...has this happened to other people? Then to top this off, I bought another house and will fix it up and move, and I wanted to get the power turned on and they hit me up for a $200 deposit, they said because of a credit irregularity. Was this caused by GE Money Bank, I don't know, but this is ridiculous...

Rudest people EVER I was only on the phone with them for 5 minutes before I couldn't control my temper due to the rudest lady ever! i actually wanted to punch her for talking to me the way she did. Their online registration wasn't working and they wanted to charge me to get help to fix it! when it was a problem on THEIR end. Then she gave me the WORST additude ever and told me that I can get up and go and mail it I have time. But, the point is they say all over their bills hassle free online payments! And then they wanna charge to fix it or not waive the phone payment fee when their having problems with their site! She then hung up on me...I think I am totally gonna regret these next 9 months with them!
